Sala Thai Restaurant in Hamburg

I'm having a hard time finding something good, but the decor is really good. The food is really not recommended and really completely overpriced. You pay for the location but you definitely don't get anything in return. If a price like that is asked for, it's only okay if you offer something in return.

Service was very nice and accommodating, the food was amazing! By far the best of all the Thai restaurants we were in! But you have to know what the quality is worth to you, because it's not cheap. The view from the window seat and But the ambience makes up for it even more.

So far the best Thai in Germany if you learned to love the food in Thailand. It's very expensive, but it's worth every cent. Even the typical spices, which are difficult to find here, were all found in the dishes. If you're still thinking: go!

Today we had dinner with 7 people in this restaurant in Hamburg's Edelviertel. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent, beautiful furnishings and a cozy atmosphere invite you to linger. The food is expensive, but also high quality. All the dishes looked very tasty and we were all very satisfied with the taste. Always happy. My duck Sala Thai wsr was really excellent.

Very nice restaurant with sunken Thai tables. The food was good, but not very good; It was missing that certain something... What should be highlighted, however, is the Sala Thai appetizer, which is very tasty and appetizing! The service is good, but not outstanding... In my opinion, the price-performance ratio isn't quite right, because you pay over €30.00 for a duck dish, which unfortunately doesn't differ in any way from duck dishes in Chinese restaurants! However, the location is something to consider. You pay for the location with its proximity to the Elbphilharmonie.

Das Thai Curry war essbar, aber von "gut" weit entfernt. Schlechter als von einem guten Thai Imbiss. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis passt hier überhaupt nicht. Für 27,50€ erwarte ich ein perfekt zubereitetes Curry. Es sind ja nun nicht soo viele Zutaten drin und das sollte eigentlich zu schaffen sein… Gabs leider nicht, asiatisch koche ich selbst besser. Der Chardonnay war muffig, kurz vorm Verderben, überhaupt nicht frisch. Dazu eine Flasche stilles Wasser für 10€… nee also ich komme nicht wieder.

Excellent authentic restaurant. The food was super tasty and still had a very good spiciness. I had the No. 71 duck breast fillet with chili and Thai basil.

With memories from the past, we went to Sala Thai for the first time with our 10-year-old son. Unfortunately, we were a bit disillusioned after the visit. Well, everything has become more expensive. But 3 meals with a starter and a drink 108€ is a steep price. Ok if it's top notch I could handle it. Now my criticisms besides the price. Red curry was good but somehow that certain something was missing. I found green a bit more boring. Massan Curry didn't really work out. It's also a shame that 4 spring rolls cost €10.80. At least they were tasty, even if the first one slipped off the plate very hard when I tried to cut it. Unfortunately, I know of Thai snack bars that make better food for a fraction. Finally, the waitresses were nice, but it wasn't as warm as we know it from the land of smiles. Unfortunately I wouldn't come back. It's actually a shame.

Delicious food, fast and extremely friendly service.

My experience of this overpriced restaurant is as follows. With having a reservation no one there to greet us , not even asked for our coats even though the coat rack was in front of our eyes. Being seated next to another table when the resturant was clearly empty others conversations were unable to be ignored. The pricing for food and the quantity was one event in itself however having an allergic reaction after specifically stating I’m allergic to pineapples after asking the content of what’s the dish had as they were not listed clearly on the menu. Specifically having to request a vegetarian and a Desert menu. For 100€ for 2 people it was deplorable experience with not being able to even give 0 start or a -1 online makes this place somewhere I would never reccomend or go back to

Unser Abend war insgesamt leider nicht wirklich so, dass wir wieder kommen werden.  Positiv zu vermerken ist das Essen, das insgesamt sehr gut war. Aber wir haben uns nicht wirklich willkommen gefühlt und nicht viel von Gastfreundschaft erlebt. Beim Hereinkommen mussten wir kurz warten, bei der Begrüßung würden wir dann nicht gefragt, ob wir unsere Jacken an der Garderobe lasen wollen.  Obwohl wir reserviert hatten, war der Tisch nicht nicht gewischt und nicht eingedeckt.  Uns wurde ein Tisch zugewiesen, der genau zwischen einem für eine große Gruppe eingedecktem Tisch und einen bereits belegtem Tisch war - obwohl das ganze Restaurant leer war, saßen also alle dicht aufeinander, laut und ohne große Privatsphäre.  Es gibt vier verschiedene Speisekarten, aber die vegetarischen Gerichte fanden sich nur auf einer weiteren separaten Karte, die wir extra anfordern mussten. Später waren die Desserts auf noch einer weiteren Karte, nach der wir auch fragen mussten.  Mehrfach im Laufe des Abends mussten wir nach einer Bedienung "rufen", auf ein weiteres Getränk haben wir dann wegen der Unaufmerksamkeit verzichtet.  Das sind alles nur Kleinigkeiten, aber wenn die Rechnung für zwei Personen bei 100€ liegt, erwarten wir auch ein schönes Erlebnis - das war es leider nicht!

Super nice Thai restaurant with normal tables and chairs or with Thai tables where you sit on the floor without shoes. Absolutely recommended as an experience. The menu offers all the classics from Thai cuisine and the food was really very good. The service from Thai employees was also very courteous and attentive. Overall 100% recommended!

Unfortunately a very overpriced Thai. Food is ok, but way too expensive for what you get. The curry was very fatty. The service is bad, you are simply ignored - the restaurant probably doesn't want to make money from drinks and seems very bored throughout. Although it was supposed to be open until 11 p.m., it was already being cleared away at 9:15 p.m. and we had the feeling that we should finally pay.

Delicious food, the Pad Thai is exquisite as are the soups. nice place and good service.

Die Einrichtung hat uns allen ( 4) sehr gefallen. Geschmackvoll, ja: Prädikat gemütlich würde passen. Das Essen war eher dürftig und nicht preis- leistungsgerecht! Sehr gestört haben uns die Preisdifferenzen zwischen Karte Restaurant und hompage (wenige Stunden v d Besuch). Im Internet rd. 20% billiger. Angesprochen auf dieses eklatante Mißverhältnis kam vom Personal nur eine nichtssagende Antwort über angebliche technische Unzulänglichkeiten. Wir haben uns betrogen gefühlt! Allein aus diesem Grunde werden wir das Lokal nicht mehr besuchen.

A walk in Hafencity makes you hungry. So we stopped here for lunch. But the food has nothing to do with good Thai cuisine. The chicken tasted musty and the vegetables were inedible bamboo shoots. The duck was ok but you had to look for the vegetables on the plate, the only sauce was soy sauce in a bowl. That wasn't cheap either. I only know the restaurant from the city center and it used to be very tasty there.

Several things that will not make us come back: super slow and uncoordinated service (bringing the main to the table when the dirty starter dishes were still there), a boring menu (the protein changed but the sauces were repeated again and again), warm beer and above 25 degrees in a sticky restaurant.

We had a really good meal here in the early afternoon at the beginning of July and were, as expected, totally thrilled. We know Sala Thai from the Brandsende, we haven't been here yet. The location in Hafencity is absolutely beautiful, the ambience and furnishings speak for themselves, you feel really comfortable. We were allowed to take our two peaceful dogs in with us, which we were very happy about; they also lay relaxed under the table the whole time. There was a fruity non-alcoholic cocktail beforehand, then there were mixed starters which, as expected, were very crispy, well seasoned and tasty, and there were extremely tasty exotic sauces. For the main course we had various curries and a spicy duck dish, brilliant. The desserts, for example mango with sticky rice or the ice cream with the three buddies (lychees, coconut jelly and lotus seeds) were also totally convincing. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right here, as you can get extremely authentic and tasty Thai cuisine for reasonable money. The service staff seemed a bit bored at this early hour and we often had to wait longer for them, so we deducted one star from the service, but otherwise we would happily give it a full five stars. We'd love to come back.

I'm just wondering where the good reviews come from. The food was definitely disappointing!! The reviews given here set very high expectations that are not met given the rather high price (32.50 for shrimp).. The prawns were served lukewarm and then heated in a microwave. Afterwards the food could be thrown away.. it was like rubber.. The service was totally unmotivated, bad German, no idea about the dishes. It's a shame... but never again!!

Yesterday I took a friend to eat and was impressed by the delicious food, good service, good atmosphere, like being in Thailand.

Really tasty and cozy. Unfortunately it's quite expensive.

We were at Sala Thai yesterday. There is a separate vegetarian menu, but this is only served upon request (also at other tables), probably because the dishes are a lot cheaper than those with meat. The red curry was ok, but tasted so pungently of garlic (powder?), which lingered unpleasantly the day after. Above all, it was extremely salty, so that after eating it you thought you would die of thirst. The same with the other dishes. It was easy to see why on the bill: a 0.75 liter bottle of water costs €9.50. The red curry with chicken is also steep at 24 euros. And that for lunch. I first had to buy a bottle of water from the bakery next door.

Es ist richtig schlecht. Wer dort essen geht muss keine Ahnung von guter Thai Küche haben. Statt Hähnchen schlechtesten Truthahn, geschmacklich eine Katastrophe, dazu noch richtig teuer. Wir waren zu viert, jedes Essen katastrophal. Ich habe in meinem Leben noch nie so schlecht Thsi gegessen.

An unreserved recommendation from my side. Great ambience. Very comfortable. Magnificent view from the wide front window. We were there on Saturday lunchtime and the inexpensive lunch menu was also valid for that day. The food turned out to be surprisingly inexpensive. Very friendly staff and delicious, healthy food. All this with a starter soup, drink and coffee at the end. For 2 people 40 euros. Fantastic.

The food wasn't sophisticated enough to give it 5 stars. But a solid 4. The service was good and the interior and location were great. Very green, which invites you to linger. The view of the Marco Polo terrace is also beautiful. The toilets were clean but nothing special. They do have vegetarian dishes, but these are on a separate menu, which you only get upon request. This could possibly be optimized and included straight away. - especially since a vegetarian diet is no longer uncommon. Prices are according to Hafencity.

Beautifully decorated restaurant with comfortable chairs. You immediately find peace in such an environment. The menu offers something for every taste and the food was really fresh, visually appealing and tasty. The service is polite, calm and careful. The dog wasn't a problem either and was given a water bowl. I will definitely come back there again.

Very tasty and fresh food. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We ended up there by chance and didn't regret it. Upon request, we received an allergen card that was simple and easy to understand.

The food was delicious and it was surprisingly empty. When I arrived there, I was the only guest and was immediately served in a very friendly manner.

Had visited this place after longer abstinence with high expectations but left somehow disappointed. Invited my family here for dinner. Albeit, served dishes were for me really delicious, service delivery was mediocre and not of acceptable quality, slow, delayed, not attentive, ignorant. We were not even asked if we liked our dishes. My current mood, not planning to visit this place again and would not recommend it anymore, something changed.

Visited this place after a longer abstinence. I had been always in high favour for this restaurant. And dishes were really nice, as expected, however service was mediocre, no single experience during our whole stay, e.g.we had to wait 30 minutes on our drinks, we were just ignored by the service, we're not even asked if we liked our meals. Not acceptable in this price range. I will not recommend any more.

Super delicious food, always worth a visit. Eat authentic Thai food. Super friendly service. The atmosphere is very nice, very nice decoration. And a good selection of food, even if it's on the more expensive side, but it's definitely worth coming here because it's very, very tasty.

Maybe it was a Sunday with few guests, but in any case it was average at best, the food seemed warmed up and didn't impress in terms of taste and the service lacked a bit of motivation, the location and the ambience are very nice, but couldn't make up for that

This restaurant is not easy to find, but it's worth it. Totally great atmosphere. Thai. Food was very tasty. We'll be back😉 here again after a year in 2024. Great food. friendly people and even with a child with allergies you can easily get a meal here. Das Essen ist enttäuschend und zu teuer. Das Kokosmilch Curry mit Huhn schmeckte muffig, überwiegend nach Kokosmilch und das Gemüse besteht fast nur aus holzigen Bambusstreifen. Ich habe den Geschmack von Säure und Chili und das bunte Gemüse vermisst. Das Massaman Curry schmeckt im Asia Imbiss um die Ecke deutlich besser. Pad Gra Prao Gai wurde eingedeutscht, mit einer Maggi ähnlichen Sauce und ohne den klassischen Sweet Basil serviert.

I'm actually a big fan of this restaurant, but today I was lied to and cheated out of money. Not much, but it's annoying. I ordered the 13 (€14.50) and got the 30 (€15.90). Went straight back and got the real food. So far so good. When I paid I was told that the booked number 30 was exactly the same price as the ordered number 13. So I was lied to. It's not about the money for me, but about the fact that the gentleman was too lazy to change his booking in the system and at the customer's expense.

very nice food, nice and clean restaurant. we needed to take shoes off for special corner in the restaurant where you sit on a carpet with a cheat (there is extra space under the table for your legs ;)) I like really hot food, if you ask you get really hot food!!

The food is delicious, the atmosphere right in the Hafencity is very nice and the service is top. Toilets are also clean and the prices are really low for the quality, at least for lunch!👍

A very nice Thai restaurant with friendly service. The prices are rather steep for a restaurant like this. For 4 small spring rolls €13.50 as a starter I found it a bit steep. In terms of spices, it was a bit bland.

Food was good but not spectacular. Location is great and in a great location, so it's not cheap either. Unfortunately the beer tasted “expired”.

The food was good, but it was better before. Everything is tasty, not so spicy. The service is standard. Not outstanding but not unfriendly. Atmosphere is lovely with lots of greens. Friendly to kids.

The food is really top! Unfortunately it is sometimes a little understaffed. But otherwise a top shop with a great view of the water.

A pleasant restaurant with a nice view of the Marco Polo Tower. The selection of dishes is diverse. The price level is good, considering the location. The dishes can also be adjusted in terms of spiciness according to your preferences. The staff is calm and very friendly.

However, the nice ambience is devalued by some details. Why are vegetarian dishes only offered upon request? The prices of the meat dishes on the evening menu are too high for the service. The tip was simply increased when paying by card, a bit cheeky but perhaps an isolated case.

The restaurant provides a pleasant and intimate atmosphere, creating an immersive experience reminiscent of Thailand. The green curry is notably flavorful, the piña colada is exceptional, and the coconut ice cream stands out as the best we've encountered.

Das Personal war nett und schnell. Das Ambiente ist Geschmackssache für mich ein wenig drüber, aber das wichtigste ist mir das Essen, und das war enttäuschend. Es war nicht schlecht auf keinen Fall, aber die hier abgegeben Bewertungen setzen doch sehr hohe Erwartungen die dann nicht erfüllt werden bei einem doch recht hohen Preis (25€ für ein Hauptgericht) und das Gemüse kommt aus Konserven und ist sehr offensichtlich nicht frisch.

Ich muss den anderen Bewertungen Recht geben. Atmosphäre ist sehr angenehm. Service war auch in Ordnung. Die Gerichte sind jedoch ungewürzt. Ich hatte ein Kokoscurry, welches überhaupt nicht nach Kokos geschmeckt hat. Man schmeckt auch keinerlei andere Gewürze, welche so ein Curry ausmachen. für den Preis nichts Besonderes bzw. zu überteuert.

Sehr schönes Restaurant, leider bin ich nicht satt geworden. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht 100 %.

Authentic and delicious Thai food. A bit expensive, but worth it. The interior is VERY nice and it almost feels like you are actually in Thailand. They have an area where you take your shoes off and sit lowered down, but we unfortunately were shown to a normal table.

God stemning, tjeneren var svær at forstå og om vendt. Vi fik ikke det drikkelse som vi har bestilt, men det blev løst. Manden var rigtig god også desserten.

Der Service war ok, ein bisschen langsam, aber das Essen hat leider sehr enttäuscht. Ein normales Hauptgericht kostet ca 25€, eine Vorspeise zwischen 10-15€. Alle Hauptgerichte kommen mit Reis, die Gerichte selber sind in einer kleinen Schüssel. Das Essen war sehr leicht gewürzt und enthielt wenig Fleisch. Die Atmosphäre ist nett mit Blick auf die Elbe und entspannter Musik, aber rechtfertigt nicht die Preise. Eine Nudelbox schmeckt besser.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker und die Qualität sehr hoch. Das Ambiente ist sehr ruhig und die Bedingung sehr aufmerksam. Es ist schon eher teuer, aber das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis empfinde ich dennoch als ok. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Außerordentlich leckeres und frisches Essen. Das habe ich schon lange nicht mehr gehabt. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und eine schöne Location. Die Preise sind natürlich etwas teurer, entsprechen aber der Qualität und auch der Menge an Essen. Ich kann jedem empfehlen, hier essen zu gegen, der ein gutes thailändisches Restaurant sucht.

Ich frage mich, wo die guten Bewertungen herkommen. Die Gerichte sind extrem einfallslos zubereitet, kaum Gemüse bzw. Gewürze und es schmeckt einfach fade. Die Bedienung war nett, aber unaufmerksam und langsam. Das Ambiente ist leider das netteste. Zu allem Überfluss ist das Essen auch zu teuer, besonders für die Qualität.

Sehr schönes Restaurants mit Blick auf die Hafen City und die Elbe. Das Essen ist generell sehr lecker, wobei ich finde, dass die letzten zwei Male mittelmäßig waren. Ich esse immer das selbe Fischgericht und die beide vergangenen Male war der Fisch eher zäh. Der Service ist reserviert-freundlich.

Wir waren das erste mal dort und kommen gerne wieder. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Gerichten. Für jeden Geschmack sollte etwas dabei sein.

Essen ist ok - nichts besonderes, preislich aber hoffnungslos überteuert. Preis/Leistung lassen sich auch durch den Standort oder das Ambiente nicht rechtfertigen. Würde nicht wiederkommen.

Waren heute dort zum Essen. Eigentlich wollte ich zum Inder in der Nähe gehen. Da mir das 'GOA' empfohlen wurde. Anderer Standort zwar, aber ich liebe indisches Essen, allerdings war hier kein Tisch verfügbar. Also ab zum Vietnamesen, hat uns sehr gut gefallen, das Ambiente, der freundliche Service, uns wurde gleicht gesagt das ab 17.00 Uhr ausgebucht ist, überrascht mich immer wieder. Das Essen wurde uns sehr gut angerichtet serviert, war sehr lecker und ich war sicher nicht das letzte mal dort. Etwas teurer, ist aber halt Hafencity.

Ich bin aus Thailand sehr verwönt, was Thai Essen betrifft. Dieses Restaurant hat das beste Phat Thai was ich in Deutschland je gegessen habe. Wie in Thailand. Das Ambiente ist toll und die Bedienung super freundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen. Werde ich öfters hin.

Echte Thailanderinnen haben bedient, das Essen war nahe am originalen Thaiessen, so weit man das in Deutschland machen kann. Sehr authentisch. Ein tolles Restaurant!
