Sailor's Restaurant & Café in Rerik

My husband and I ordered the Hamburg schnitzel with fries. The portions were generous, and the schnitzel was a pressed schnitzel cooked in a deep fryer. The fries and small side salad were good. We would have preferred a higher price with better quality.

The food was good. We ordered two aperitifs to finish off our last evening. One cost €7.50. Both were poorly mixed. Glasses only half full and not sharp, made with no love. People, stay away, it's a rip-off. I didn't want any stress this evening. I'll learn my lesson in the future. It was on August 14, 2025, at 9:00 PM. Table 10. Thanks, a loyal vacationer from Rerik.

The food was very good. But we were ignored several times by the waitresses. They asked us something and then just walked on without waiting for an answer. They asked us three times before we could finally pay. It's a shame. Maybe it's for loud people who are good at drawing attention to themselves. Not for us...

The service was excellent. The plaice was steamed, not fried. It came with very greasy fried potatoes. The hamburger schnitzel was rather small and clearly came from a T-cooler. It was dry, with a thick coating. Even the fried egg didn't help. Well—

I had pork medallions in a pepper cream sauce with cranberry chutney and croquettes. None of my food tasted good! The meat was tough, the sauce was 100% from a bag, the croquettes were frozen, and the cranberries were from a jar. Absolutely terrible for a "good" restaurant and for the price! The service was okay, the ambiance very plain.

My husband and I went to the restaurant today and were pleasantly surprised. It was incredibly delicious. The portions were very generous. Anyone who says otherwise wouldn't want to know what they eat at home in those huge portions... I can recommend it... The price was good, too.

I had dinner there with my family, we ate on the terrace, it was very nice. The food was quite good, and the staff welcoming, I would recommend this place.

We ordered schnitzel with chanterelle mushrooms. The food arrived after five minutes and was barely edible. Greasy frozen schnitzel, watery potatoes, mushy mushrooms, and coleslaw from a plastic tub. Stay well away from this "restaurant"!

The food was very tasty and, in our opinion, the portions were generous. It was really good value for money. You can also choose other side dishes to accompany your meal, either with advice or according to your own taste. As a welcome treat, the house provided a baguette with a delicious dip. We would definitely recommend it.

A small, pleasant restaurant on the lagoon with good, friendly service. The food is rather simple and nothing special! The fresh fish sandwiches are delicious and, at five euros, very affordable. Don't expect culinary excellence, but enjoy a pleasant time in a beautiful setting; this restaurant is recommended for that. The prices are a bit higher, of course, but that's the way it is throughout Rerik, and you know that as a vacationer.

We received a warm welcome. We were greeted with a welcome from the kitchen along with our drinks. We had herring "Hausfrauenstil" (homemade herring) and three kinds of herring with potato wedges. The food was excellent, as was the service. Just go in and enjoy.

Whatever people may like about this "restaurant"... the ambiance is reminiscent of a motorway service station, the service is not exactly polite and rarely present. But the worst thing is the food. Loveless, ready-made food prepared by an amateur at a rather high price. Everything is from a bottle or can. The chef can't even make a proper sauce for a currywurst (14.90€). Spiced ketchup and curry powder. That's it. The highlight is a "steak au four" for a mere 21.90€. Cheap meat, seasoned meat from a can and ready-made croquettes. I would be ashamed to offer my guests something like that (and certainly not at these prices). We all had stomach problems after this meal. This "restaurant" is absolutely not to be recommended!!!!!

We've eaten there often because the price/performance ratio is good. We even got a discount. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food always came quickly and was very, very tasty. In season, we always reserve a table for the evening. We'll be back.

It's worth stopping by. They offer tasty portions for children, and regional fish dishes. A pleasant atmosphere, very friendly staff, moderate prices, and the food is truly delicious.

The three of us, including a birthday boy, went to lunch and were very, very pleasantly surprised. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and they served a homemade dip with warm baguette with the drinks. You rarely experience that. The food was outstanding, and the homemade dips and salad creams will melt your heart. Value for money is hard to beat, and we've been to many places along the Baltic Sea. Our palates are still dreaming about it today. After a long walk in Rerik, we stopped back for coffee and enjoyed the chocolate cake with straziatella ice cream, and were once again completely satisfied. A quick chat with the landlady was a must. We can recommend it 100% and will definitely return.

Since I've always been very satisfied in previous years, I decided to eat at Sailor's again this year. The plaice was always a delight, and this year it was quite okay. But now for the schnitzel with chanterelles. For just under €23, that's really just cheeky. Chanterelles with a cream sauce, which was watery and, like the chanterelles, very tasteless. I doubt it was fresh. The schnitzel was simply a frozen schnitzel. For that price, you can't beat the audacity. I wasn't even remotely expecting a frozen schnitzel. That put an end to the idea of eating there. A real shame. The service is nice and friendly, which is why it's given two stars.

We stopped at Sailor's today because we'd read the menu the day before. I was so excited about my schnitzel with pepper mushrooms, but was immensely disappointed. The schnitzel had never seen a pan, only a deep fryer, and the mushrooms weren't fresh, let alone frozen, but rather from a jar. That was simply unacceptable. Quite the opposite, I wouldn't recommend it. The one star is for the ambiance. No one will see me there again.

The restaurant feels more like a fast-food restaurant with waitress service. While the food was served very quickly—within 10 minutes—the main course arrived while the appetizer was still being served, which made the process seem hectic. The quality of the food was disappointing: the schnitzel, burger patty, fries, and seasoned beef seemed to have been simply reheated rather than freshly prepared. The soups for the appetizer are highly recommended—they had a well-balanced flavor and seemed fresher than the rest of the menu.

A very unfriendly and antisocial owner! On recommendation, we visited Sailors to get an impression of the menu, the restaurant, and the vacation apartments above. We parked in the customer parking lot and were quickly greeted by the owner. He immediately and very rudely informed us that we weren't allowed to park there because we would be obstructing delivery traffic. Our explanation that we were there out of interest and on recommendation was followed by a resounding "I don't care, you have to go!" I then wanted to take a photo of the menu for a friend. The owner quickly responded from a distance: "You don't need to take a photo of it, it's all online." I didn't want to and didn't understand the ensuing gibberish. You could say the owner is a rabble-rouser and a very unfriendly person. If you can greet your potential customers like that, then business seems to be booming. 👍

The food is okay; the schnitzel is from a frozen store, as are the burger patties. For the price, you'd expect fresh meat. The waiters weren't exactly friendly. We couldn't order dessert or more drinks because no one came, even though we made ourselves known. Even paying was ignored for ages. There were four servers on site, and only about 50% of the seats were occupied, so it wasn't overcrowded.

Bisher immer hier gegessen, wenn wir zu dem Ort einen Ausflug gemacht haben. Die Bedienung freundlich. Wir hatten einen guten Platz. Das Restaurant war auch sehr gut besucht. Die Fischplatte hat geschmeckt, kam aber sehr, sehr schnell…Aber man hat alles gut vertragen, ist ja auch nicht immer und überall so…Wir kommen wieder.

Hello, unfortunately the food wasn't that great. My wife got diarrhea. Frozen vegetables were lukewarm, and the food was just crap. The beer was the only good thing. It's not worth going there.

Wir waren vor 3 Jahren schon einmal hier und hatten damals an einigen Tagen die Fischplatte für 2 gegessen, sie war damals ein Genuss, Heute haben wir dort die Fischplatte bestellt, sie war eine absolute Enttäuschung. Es sollten 3 x 2 Filets auf Bratkartoffeln kommen. Das Essen kam sehr schnell nach der Bestellung, so schnell kann man weder Fisch noch Kartoffeln braten. Es waren auch nicht 3 x 2 Filets sondern nur 2 Filets und 4 Schwanzstücke. Und die Bratkartoffeln mache ich besser. Wir haben die Qualität angesprochen aber man war nicht wirklich interessiert. Wir haben trotzdem ein wenn auch kleines Trinkgeld gegeben. Es gab kein Danke. Wir werden einfach nicht wiederkommen. SCHADE.

The food was tasty but the portion size was manageable. But it wasn't overpriced either. The food arrived at our table about 10 minutes after ordering, and the empty plates were already being cleared away while others at the table were still eating. Despite having a reservation, we had the feeling they would like to reseat the table quickly. After an hour, we were out again. I don't think we've ever eaten out so quickly at a restaurant.

This year and last year we ate at Sailors and the food and selection were very good and all the dishes were tasty, the portions were according to the prices. I would like to highlight the very friendly staff, who are also happy to have fun. Always happy.

I have to say that we became aware of the restaurant because of the positive reviews when we were on vacation in Rerik. Unfortunately our stay wasn't quite as positive... I had the fish fillet platter and was largely satisfied with it. However, I ordered fried potatoes instead of the wedges, which unfortunately wasn't implemented. Then I thought that could happen, I'll just eat the wedges. The fish was perfectly prepared!!👌 My wife isn't much of a fish eater and had the burger as an alternative. And was terribly disappointed! A far-dry burger bun that was almost impossible to cut. This was then exchanged upon request. However, the pattie wasn't really convincing either... And the salad was mixed across the salad buffet. Radishes, corn,... Well, everyone likes it differently. The ambience of the place is standard but neat and clean. Service was ok, kitchen was probably a bit understaffed during our visit. Conclusion: If you want to eat fish, you can do it well here. However, I advise against the burger! 😉

Schnitzel with fried egg and fried potatoes was great. The only disappointment: Königsberger Klopse were only on the children's menu.

👎 Disappointing and not recommended Unfortunately, our visit to the *Sailors* restaurant in Rerik was a real failure. We ordered a beef burger, a children's schnitzel and the farmer's breakfast and discovered that without exception, all (!) of the food we used came from the freezer or from a bag. None of it was fresh, not even the potatoes, the burger meat or the small salad. This was also drowned in sauce. Even worse: the food was just warmed up and hardly seasoned or refined in any way. The vegetables on the children's plate were completely unseasoned, just thawed. Is it really that hard to peel a carrot? Absolutely loveless and disappointing in terms of taste and an absolute total failure for a restaurateur. Every layman can really get a better meal at home. Even though the staff was nice, we were very dissatisfied with the “food” on offer – especially considering the prices. It's a shame about the time and money. We definitely won't be coming back.

This evening we took food with us - a duet of fish and a citizen each with potato wedges and dip. Unfortunately the dip wasn't included in one meal and the salad, well look at the photo. The fish didn't have much flavor. The two stars are for the potato wedges. Once was clearly enough.

Cozy restaurant and the food was delicious. The chef didn't really like the fact that we wanted dinner at 3:30 p.m., but everything was great and freshly prepared and we'd happily do it again.

Great! Great atmosphere, fair prices, the beer is delicious, and so is the ice cream. The service is friendly and quick. The kids even got something to color and a lollipop.

Geschmacklich war unser Essen ok, am leckersten waren die Dips vom Gruß aus der Küche. Von der Menge her war es mir zu wenig Fisch. Den Preise für unser Essen finde ich einfach zu hoch, die Auswahl an Fisch zu gering. Die Bedienung besteht aus sehr jungen Leuten, anscheinend unerfahren und nicht der deutschen Sprache mächtig. Für uns ist es dort einfach zu teuer geworden und wenn man dann nicht richtig satt wird… Wir werden dort vorerst nicht mehr essen gehen.

Der Kellner sprach leider kaum. Vielleicht war er schüchtern weil sein Deutsch nicht sooo gut war? Wir hatten das Tagesmenü. Dies war durchweg leider etwas weniger als Durchschnitt. Das Essen war verdächtig schnell am Tisch. Wir haben uns qualitativ nicht wohlgefühlt.

The best fish sandwiches I've ever eaten. The smoked salmon was cut in thick slices and (luckily for me) didn't have any kind of sauce on it. Nevertheless, they were fresh and delicious. We can also recommend the herring. We'll be happy to come back for dinner next time we're in Rerik. 😀

The two of us were there spontaneously on Saturday evening, without a reservation. We were lucky and got the last place, after us spontaneous guests were turned away. Service was very friendly and on the ball. We sat at the table with the sofa, very comfortable. Fish platter for two was very rich and very, very tasty. At my request, fish was prepared gluten-free, but still fried very well and crispy. In my opinion, the hake was the tastiest. But pollock and cod were really good too. Fried potatoes were addictive… salad and vegetables were ok, but nothing more. Delicious house wine, Riesling liter bottle for €13.50… very successful evening 😋

Uncomfortable weather and a desire for ice cream led us to Sailor's on an autumn day. The restaurant was extremely busy because a tour bus operator was staying there. Nevertheless, we found a seat and were served promptly. Extremely friendly staff, delicious ice cream. We'd love to come back!

Our favorite restaurant for years. Super Service. Nice, helpful staff who make everything possible and a great selection of food and drinks that are all recommended. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Well, I have to say, we were served by far the worst food of the summer of 2024 there. I can't think of anything else about Sailor's!!!

Drinking great, eating flop. We had a vegetarian burger and pike with fried potatoes. The only seasonal vegetables in both dishes were fresh rocket, you couldn't get more fresh than that in August! The burger came with potato wedges with a greasy cream and store-bought raw vegetable salad. The pike was served with frozen vegetables (including pods, carrots) and pickled vegetables. Both dishes were the worst we've ever eaten in terms of appearance and taste. We paid just under 46 EUR for this meal (including 2 small beers). The boss said that the calculation wouldn't work with fresh vegetables😭. Our advice: stay away if you're hungry. We won't stop here again.

Wir waren heute mit gewisser Erwartung einkehrt, leider sollte man vorher die Rezessionen anderer lesen. Aber man vertraut auf das Ambiente. Wir wurden leider enttäuscht Seehechtfilet mit Tiefkühlgemüse und sonstige Beilagen wie Gurke und Weißkraut aus der Konserve, daß im Sommer unverständlich. Ein sehr stark eingeschränktes Angebot für Vegetarier, die Wahl viel auf den Vegi-Burger mit pappigen Pommes und Beilagen siehe oben.Ein Gespräch mit der Wirtin war ehr ernüchternd. Eine Wiedereinkehr nur bei frischen Gemüse und ... Aber wer weiß dies vorher.

Unfreundliches Personal, Schnitzel war trocken, hart und sehr dünn. Wir haben abgeholt und es befand sich noch nicht einmal etwas Salat oder Garnitur beim Essen. Sehr enttäuscht für das Geld

We were here in August 2024 - food and prices OK, but nothing special - bill only after repeated requests and extremely unfriendly - you can also say thank you for the tip (we never give little...)! Is Rerik worth a detour? We're not sure.

I can't understand the positive reviews. We ate there late in the afternoon and were totally disappointed. The food was served after what felt like 5 minutes after ordering. Certainly not freshly prepared. The potato wedges tasted like the day before, the schnitzel and steak ou four were a disappointment. We certainly won't be eating there again, but tastes are different and every visitor can form their own opinion.

I was there for dinner with my family on the weekend. We had reserved a table, the restaurant was busy but not full. Our 4.5-year-old daughter cannot chew due to a neurological disease, so when I ordered, I asked that her children's menu be briefly pureed with a hand blender. We ordered five more meals, some of which were higher priced. This didn't seem to be a problem at first. After about 5-10 minutes, the chef, who was noticeably upset but was ostensibly trying to be friendly, came with the pureed food and said that they "really enjoyed doing something like that" but that it would "mess up all the processes in the kitchen" and we'll do it next time should go out to eat at a different time of day. A short time later a waitress came and asked what the chef had said. When I then said that my daughter is really seriously ill and that I find it very unpleasant to have to justify wanting to go out to eat at a normal time, she said again that she really does that “often” and “totally "I'd love to do it", but it wasn't really about the time and we'd have to go out to eat at a different time and let us know when we reserved the table next time. The problem is that “people always want everything but won’t accommodate one bit”. We then waited about 45 minutes for the rest of the food, so my daughter had to eat alone. Prescribing certain time slots for dinner to our families and requiring some kind of advance warning is simply discriminatory. By the way, the elaborate meal, which “disrupted all the processes” and was served within 5 minutes, was mashed potatoes in a bag with pureed Königsberger meatballs. My matjes was ok, as were the frozen side dishes (kaiser vegetables and potato wedges). The “fresh chanterelles” were fresh mushrooms.
