Very good, fresh food. I'm thrilled!

The food is very fresh and incredibly delicious. We've been there twice now and highly recommend it.

We had a great meal; the restaurant is clean, the food isn't too oily, and the main dishes are generous portions. We felt very comfortable. We'll be back.

Can only recommend - unfortunately the ambience is not nice

There was a fly in one of the pho we ordered. When we politely pointed this out to the staff, they were downright irritated. They apologized but also said directly, "That's the kitchen's job; it can't be avoided. A fly in your soup is like ants in your garden." We were shocked by the excuse and only paid for the appetizer and left the restaurant. Based on this experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant... We know that the colleagues here always "maintain" the reviews on Google Maps and other platforms, and that's exactly why we came here. But please take care of kitchen hygiene first before worrying about the reviews.

I'm Taiwanese. Come and try it! You won't regret it. The roast duck is a must. The pho is also good. Everything else is up to you.

I ordered the chicken pho and it was my first time trying it but it won’t be my last, and the lemonade was delicious The service was super fast and they even let me charge my phone and let me use their adapter, if i ever return to heidelberg i’ll come here first Tourist friendly with english menus and the waitress speaks english too and is very kind

The duck is tender and crispy, the vegetables are well sautéed. The restrooms are decent, and the staff is friendly.

Great food and atmosphere. We ordered chicken pho soup and crispy duck. Both were amazing, especially the crispy duck, it is very crispy and its dark hoisin sauce compliments it greatly.

Nice Vietnamese restaurant with homemade iced tea. I had the half duck for around €22-23. The food was delicious, very delicious. The portion size was slightly larger for the price. As a big eater, I was certainly full and would eat there again. My highlight was the homemade iced tea (tastes different at every restaurant). I had yuzu with mint, which was really delicious and refreshing. Our order was taken pretty quickly, and it didn't take long before we got our food. The ambiance is okay. The restaurant is located in the old town, right in the tourist area, so it's a busier place. There are seating options inside and on the street. My conclusion: delicious and definitely worth a visit!

Update: As you can read in Saigon Sonne's response, they apologized several times for the incident, and the offer to cover the costs went smoothly. So thank you for your honesty, and I also appreciate that you made the offer yourself. For me, the trust is unfortunately gone, but everyone has to decide for themselves. Of course, that shouldn't have happened in the first place, but I also think it's important how mistakes are handled, and that was certainly done well here. Original: Not suitable for vegans or allergy sufferers! We had lunch here yesterday and ordered everything vegan (the menu states that everything is also available vegan). The portion was quite large, so I had the rest packed up. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until I got home that my portion contained a coin-sized piece of (cooked) meat. So there was clearly contamination! Unfortunately, I can't say whether the rest (including the sauces) was truly vegan. I suffered from severe stomach pain and nausea for the rest of the day. My stomach was completely acidic and bloated. Since I have intolerances to many animal products, I assume there was more in there. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend the restaurant.

We noticed the restaurant as we were walking by. The food on the plates looked amazing, so we reserved a table for the following evening. The food was absolutely delicious, and the homemade lemonades are also highly recommended.

Nachdem wir in Heidelberg auf der Schnelle keinen Tisch bekommen haben, haben wir dort einen Tisch bekommen. Das Essen an sich erträglich .Wer asiatisches Essen kennt weißt, dass das was sie anbieten ist nicht gut genug. Der Empfangsbereitschaft und Freundlichkeit vom Personal lässt zu wünschen übrig. Wir waren einmal da und wir müssen nicht noch mal hin.

Particularmente mientras IT estaba lloviendo afuera, este restaurante estaba casi lleno. Dos servidores, aunque encantadores, estaban demasiado ocupados y a menudo manejaban el servicio al cliente y las tareas del restaurante de una manera no sistemática. Dicho esto, los rollitos de verano y primavera, pho, pato crujiente y fideos udon fueron excepcionales! Los langostinos de tigre negro en los fideos udon eran tan frescos y cocinados perfectamente. ¡El pato fue quizás el mejor que he probado! Ve por la comida, tómate el tiempo y sé paciente.

Nice place for dinner located in the center of the old town (Altstadt) with good value for money. The lemonades were really tasty too

I had a lovely dinner here. I ordered the vegetable red curry, spring rolls, and limeade. It was delicious. The curry was sweet and slightly spicy and had a nice flavor from the kaffir lime leaves. The limeade was fresh and refreshing. There was no issue getting a table as a solo diner, and the service was polite. I recommend this place and would come back.

For dinner today, I ordered a platter, duck rice, and Vietnamese rice noodles. The most important thing is that the Vietnamese rice noodles tasted pretty good. I thought it was roast duck, but it turned out to be fried duck rice with curry. The taste was ordinary. I was looking forward to the platter, but the taste was also ordinary. The most important thing is to race with flies. Do you have dozens of flies for dinner? Good night.

Unlike other Asian restaurants, it is a little expensive. Orders are received late, and food comes out late. (There were not many customers, so it was quiet). I ordered Pho Bo (Rinderhuefte), but they gave me Pho Bo Xao (Scharf, Knoblauch und Zwiebeln) and told me to eat it because it was more expensive. I just ate it, thinking it was okay, but a really long hair came out. For reference, I have short hair. Services were kind, atmosphere are fine. Food was delicious, so I ate it all.

It was cheap and delicious for a tourist spot. However, the only thing that was disappointing was that the pho soup was cold. 🇯🇵🙏

This was definitely the best duck I've ever eaten. The side dishes (vegetables, rice) were also really delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance in the restaurant could be improved, but it's not particularly disturbing. It is, after all, an old building. What was absolutely unacceptable was the condition of the restrooms when I was there. This urgently needs to be improved – if I had gone to the restroom before eating, I would have canceled my meal and left the restaurant.

Beef pho very good. Duck schnitzel excellent and has lots of veggies. No pictures because we ate too fast.

Wir sind mit einer grösseren Gruppe nach einer Veranstaltung eingekehrt und hatten reserviert. Ich hatte eine Ente mit Curry. Sehr lecker und liebevoll zubereitet, die Portion war sehr ausreichend. Auch der Service war sehr professionell. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und komme gerne wieder.

The menu is also very appealing for vegetarians, with a variety of delicious options. The service was consistently friendly and attentive. There were only minor drawbacks in terms of attentiveness. The restaurant seemed very busy, and the staffing situation was a bit tense. However, this hardly detracted from the positive overall impression. The Saigon Sonne may be a bit above average in terms of price, but the quality of the food and the generous portions absolutely justify it. You definitely get value for your money here. Conclusion: If you're looking to enjoy authentic and delicious Vietnamese cuisine in a friendly atmosphere in Heidelberg, and you also value large portions, the Saigon Sonne is the place for you! We'd love to come back.

Super tasty and very nice service!

The restaurant is overall pretty good, nice and quiet atmosphere. The best part, you can reserve a table in advance! Additionally, the restaurant is located near the main cathedral in the old town, so sitting outside, you can enjoy the spirit of the old town of Heidelberg. I ordered a summer roll which was alright with the sauce, while the Pho soup was really good. They provided me with the lime and chili pepper on the side, to season it by myself, which was really thoughtful of them. (since I am a person who doesn’t like that much spicy food). The waiters are really polite and fast with their service! Overall, I would give it a 4.3 score!

This location benefits in particular from its good location in the pedestrian zone. The food is neat and beautifully presented. Spring rolls or wontons were obviously from the freezer - vegetables seemed fresh. One waitress made an effort to serve the numerous guests as well as possible. The ambience has few Asian accents and is rather functional. Unfortunately, the guest toilet was very dirty and hadn't been cleaned for a long time. There are no parking options directly on site.

We ordered the sharing platter for 2 person (cost 49€) and it’s AMAZING 🥹🤤 We both really enjoyed the starter soup noodle! The main platter was so good that even it’s a lot and we still finish it 🤣 we both are amazed by how good they made the crispy duck! 🦆 I personally also love their grilled pork ball (it give a hint of 烤猪肉干 flavour 🥹), The Entrecôte(cut of beef slice) with fresh pepper leaf and the reis nudeln with the sauce! I also requested to add a little more honey to my hot orange ginger tea and the owner are very generous to bring me the whole bottle of honey for me to add it myself 🤣🤣 thank you so much, appreciate it!! Would recommend to try this beverage if you’re looking for something warm and nice in the winter especially!

Very tasty fresh food. The service was good. A little more expensive, but good portions that fill you up. The homemade lemonade was O.K. priced but overpriced. The food was nicely prepared, the ambience is rather dark and simple.

We saw a Vietnamese restaurant by the funicular which appealed to us, but it was closing as we arrived, so to find the Saigon Sonne whilst looking elsewhere was serendipitous. Seeing a party of Vietnamese people eating there and looking happy was a good sign. We enjoy Vietnamese food, but kept it quite simple, rice noodles and tofu and udon noodles and prawns. The plates were very large, maybe more than we needed for lunch, but like the troopers we are we finished it. Overall, very nice, and we recommend.

Very tasty food. We reserved a table here, only looked at the prices later and were a bit put off by it. But the food was worth the price, fresh vegetables and the tofu were also absolutely delicious. Every dish is also offered as vegan, which gave me a huge selection. The homemade lime soda was also very good. I can only recommend this restaurant and we will definitely eat there again next time we are in Heidelberg.

For our first evening on our kids-free short vacation, we wanted to eat out abroad. We didn't regret it, the food was great, the service was friendly. But we waited quite a long time (approx. 40 minutes) for the food. All in all, it was super tasty.

Lunch special offers excellent value. We ordered the Pho and yellow curry with chicken the first time. They were both good. Two days later we went back for the duck and the chicken with cashew. They were excellent.

This restaurant was a great find! I was really impressed with the food. The taste was something I wasn't familiar with and that's exactly why we chose this restaurant. The rice was great, the vegetables were great and I have never eaten tofu like this before. Local vegetables and meat are advertised. Even though I can't verify the seriousness of this information, I think it's nice that emphasis is placed on something like this. You can also find many vegetarian dishes. The location in the old town is nice but unfortunately most of the tables are inside. This is already a more expensive restaurant. Many main courses cost over €20 but you can also find cheaper meals that will fill you up well.
