Two of us went for dinner today. A very nice restaurant. The meal was a rump steak and absolutely perfect. The beer was delicious. The waitress, Ms. Zickel, was very polite and accommodating. Even though the place was very busy, the service went quite quickly. This brewery restaurant is absolutely recommended. A must! Best regards

Hello, first of all, the location is really beautiful! The waitress was very friendly and generally accommodating! The food tasted okay. Now, the reason why my overall rating is so poor: First of all: I love children! I have three! That's the only reason I was there at lunchtime on a Sunday, because my youngest was invited to a children's birthday party at the neighboring Trampolini. I thought I'd spend the wait after a short rainy walk with a leisurely, quiet lunch followed by coffee, rather than at the noisy Trampolini in the Brauhaus. We sat in the winter garden. Starting at the next table, there was a French group of three adults and two young children (about 2.5 and 4 years old). What can I say? Without exaggeration, it was impossible to have a conversation! The two kids were constantly jumping around/running around between and under the tables, screaming, and even knocking over chairs. As soon as one of the adults involved tried to "catch/calm down" the children, they screamed loudly and shrilly, and the adults simply laughed embarrassedly or scolded loudly and sat back down (without stopping the children from continuing to run around the conservatory and SCREAM). The younger of the two even tried (unsuccessfully) to fiddle with the emergency exit door. It was actually impossible to understand the person they were talking to. The hour and a half was truly irritating, not very restful, and no time to enjoy themselves. Of course, the staff isn't responsible for the children! And small children don't always have to be quiet! Children can be heard. But as a mother of three children, I would have expected the staff to intervene at this point and remind the parents of their duty of supervision and upbringing. All the guests around watched helplessly and were extremely annoyed. Sometimes, in extreme cases, it unfortunately only helps to politely ask someone to leave the restaurant or to make sure the children are quiet. I feel really bad about having to write something like this, because my kids were never quiet. But the parents' ignorant behavior and the staff's capitulation at the expense of the other guests really annoyed me. (There's a children's play area next door where they can let off steam!) No, my dears, you really aren't child haters when you tell US parents that we and our children need to be considerate of other guests!! Sorry

The food was excellent. The service was all very attentive and friendly.

Yesterday, I ate at the Brauhaus for the first time in a while and was very disappointed with the food. I waited 40 minutes. The food finally arrived, a small portion. The schnitzel didn't taste good at all; it was a bad snack schnitzel for me. It definitely came from a deep fryer and reminded me of a ready-made schnitzel. I won't be coming back with my wife or family.

Well-attended restaurant with typical brewery decor, very friendly service and huge portions.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the waitress behind the bar at the tap was super friendly and accommodating. They were always there for us and served us excellently. The older waitress in black was super funny and nice. Another waitress, unfortunately, wasn't as friendly and seemed rather annoyed by us. Nevertheless, we'll be happy to come back :)

A really great atmosphere and very friendly service. We were here with our Swiss friends, but unfortunately I have to say that the menu and the selection were a bit disappointing. Since we've often eaten regional dishes at other breweries in Saarland, we really missed them in Merzig. We were looking forward to stuffed meats, schnitzel, and the like...but unfortunately...we ended up having Cordon Bleu...very dry meat with little flavor, very disappointing. We'll reserve a table for the next visit of our friends from Switzerland, in Losheim or Schmelz. It's a shame, everything else was fine...just the selection and the food, unfortunately, weren't.

A truly lovely ambiance, with very friendly, attentive staff! BUT the food is anything but appealing or good! No comparison to the breweries in Losheim or Schmelz! I really don't understand how they can make a menu so sparse. It's a shame, but we'll prefer Losheim am See in the future.

After 25 minutes in the beer garden, I left without being able to order anything. What a shame!!!

Delicious salad, quickly served, friendly service, nice brewery ambience

We stopped at Brauhaus Merzig on Friday after a bike ride and had lunch there.... The food was okay, I thought it would have improved since our last visit, but it wasn't...the food wasn't really warm...the fried potatoes were pre-fried and kept warm on a hot plate. The Lioner looked artificial, tasted of nothing, and was cold inside...the only thing edible was the small salad...that was it. The service was friendly. I asked her about the food...she told us about the process before it was served...which is really unacceptable. The price-performance ratio isn't right here...Our conclusion: Now and in the future, we will always avoid Brauhaus Merzig and try something else in the city...

You can eat very well and inexpensively here.

Hello, I wanted to tell you that the brewery is really great for celebrating my father's 80th birthday there yesterday with over 20 people. The people were very friendly and accommodating. The food was incredibly good. A big thank you to the team, it was really great.

We were there three weeks ago. We came spontaneously and were lucky to get a table. Reservations are recommended. The service was pleasant, friendly, and even up for a little joke. The food was very good. My husband also enjoyed the beer. The atmosphere is great. We highly recommend this brewery.

Was there today. The atmosphere was great. However, the food doesn't deserve a single star. The fries were really bad. They weren't cooked at all and didn't have any seasoning. They were rushed through. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he left me standing there looking stupid.

Taste is subjective! I ate there with my whole family, and I have to say we were served promptly and were repeatedly asked if we wanted anything else. The staff was excellent, the food and the portions were also very good. I highly recommend it.

The beef strips in my noodles must have come from a cow that had been retired for years! They were very firm to the bite.

Food did not taste good and waiting time too long

The food was terrible and not worth the money. The chicken was too dry, the pasta was undercooked, and the tomato sauce was overcooked. The service was unmotivated. I've been back for the first time in 7 years, but nothing has improved.

We arrived at the brewery on a Sunday evening. When we asked where we could sit, we were told there was space; it was quite busy. We sat at a table in the beer garden, where the dishes from previous guests were still lying there. A few minutes later, they were cleared away. After about 30 minutes, our drinks arrived; we (two people) couldn't order food because the kitchen was overloaded at the time. The drinks arrived fairly quickly, and we were able to order food after another 20 minutes. The food arrived just as quickly, but it wasn't anything special and, in our opinion, a bit overpriced.

I had the best burger there. The terrace is lovely. The service was good.

Six of us went there for dinner. We all chose the buffet, and unfortunately, that was the wrong decision. We only arrived at 1:45 p.m., and by then the buffet was completely overcooked, burnt, the noodles were mushy, the rice had been sticky, and the meat had been sitting there for far too long. Only the salad was still okay. The drinks were okay, and the service was friendly and attentive.

We were already at the GSS brewery on Monday, August 18th. The beer was delicious, and so was the food!

First, the positive. A big compliment to the competent, friendly, and helpful waiter, Mr. Kalousios. He remains calm and on top of things in all situations. A true professional. The dishes we ordered were the exact opposite: Wiener Schnitzel and Cordon Bleu, each with fries. We think they were frozen food, quickly heated in the deep fryer and fried to death. Both meat dishes were completely dry, lacking any discernible seasoning, and covered in a greasy and indefinable breading. There was no sign or taste of ham or mountain cheese. The potatoes were a disaster. Also completely oily and visually and tastelessly unacceptable. "It's just the way they do things," said one waitress. A real shame. Based on the beautiful ambiance inside and out, the cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff, we had expected much more in terms of the food. Perhaps other dishes have turned out better and are of higher quality. But we probably won't try them there again.

I've rarely eaten such a bad currywurst. Afterwards, I was battling nausea and stomach cramps. The service was rude and, at the end, they even insisted on tipping, even though we expressed our displeasure. It's a shame, because the place could actually be nice.

I ate here today with 8 people. Everything was excellent, the food was great. The spit roast was delicious, and the service was very friendly. I'd be happy to go back, and everything was very quick.

I liked the place and the decor, but I didn't like the service I received. My food came raw and the chicken wasn't good. I asked it to be taken back to the kitchen and the waiter got angry and got together to talk badly about it. I didn't like it, I don't recommend it. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Very large restaurant (indoors and outdoors). The interior is an old brewery, while the exterior is a typical beer garden. Very friendly and attentive service, and our order came very quickly, even though it felt like the whole of Merzig was there for dinner! I highly recommend it and would gladly go back. 😋💪🏻👍🏻

Saturday, 2 p.m. About half of the beer garden has free seats, but very few are in the shade. At the first shady table I sat at, I was turned away because of an "alleged" reservation. There was no sign or other notice! At the second table I headed for (also without a sign!), I was told "also reserved" before I even sat down. Since they didn't want to offer me any alternatives, I quietly left the place. Whether the tables were actually reserved or they didn't want to have a single person, who knows... I've seen it all before. However, the Brauhaus MZG is off-limits for me (even with a group) for now ;)

The two of us, along with our dog, went to the Merziger Brauhaus and ate in the beer garden. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service very friendly – our dog was even provided with a drinking fountain, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the food wasn't impressive. My husband's potato wedges were cold, and the meat was only average. My schnitzel was more reminiscent of a chip shop, and the fried potatoes were completely tasteless. A shame – they could have been much better.

Great brewery atmosphere with friendly staff and tasty food

The food was adequate. Portions were generous. The price was reasonable. The service was chaotic and mediocre. Constantly trying to get attention for an extra drink (which didn't work), dessert (which didn't work), and payment took over 20 minutes. It really saves time, folks... The home-brewed beer was very tasty, though!

The menu says they serve cordon bleu with ham and mountain cheese, but it seems they've replaced it with a processed cheese mixture. It's great when you can save money on frozen goods. Five years ago, the cordon bleu here was really delicious, and it really did contain mountain cheese. Absolutely not. From now on, we'll probably just get a bottle of beer here. But eating here is over. Simply TERRIBLE!!!!!

Location great, food - as expected - mainly finished products. The beer garden is very attractive. Here you sit in the gravel bed under the trees, everything is perfect. The waitresses are consistently efficient, friendly and accommodating. No long waiting times for drinks and food. People here are used to processing guests in large numbers. The interior is also very nicely designed. Typical brewery atmosphere. If you want to eat really good food, you're unfortunately in the wrong place here. You have to admit this honestly and without further ado. With such a large location it can only work with ready-made products. This must be clear to everyone. Everything that works here is frozen goods, ready-made products and quickly prepared in the deep fryer. There is no other way to deal with the multitudes of people.

Absolutely terrible. We stood in the entrance area and waited for a table. An employee told us she would come right away and give us a table. After about five minutes, we left the restaurant. I will not visit this restaurant again. I cannot and will not condone such behavior. Absolutely not recommended.

Now, I'm someone who forms my own opinion about food, but here I have to say, any chip shop is a 5-star restaurant compared to this. I ordered a schnitzel with fries and sauce, and the schnitzel tasted like a deep-fried shoe sole, not to mention the size. The sauce had a very bitter taste for a peppercorn sauce. I can't say anything about the frozen fries; they all taste the same. The price of €16.50 is extremely overpriced for what you get on your plate. The food there isn't worth more than half the price!!!!

A large, modern brewery with a lovely beer garden right on the Saar Cycle Path—ideal for a break. The home-brewed beer is high-quality and flavorful. The menu is rather uninspired and unfortunately doesn't offer any Saarland specialties, but the quality and portions are decent. Prices are on the high side, but reasonable for the location and the beer. Overall, a recommended stop.

Everything was good. We've been here twice already. The food is delicious, and there's a small playground next door—a great option for families. Kids won't be bored, and parents can chat 😉 Now, a word of caution about the chili burger: It's really spicy, it burns! 😀

Terrible food at exorbitant prices. I've never had such a bad currywurst. And the rest of the dishes at our table were also subpar. Good for a beer at best. Not recommended for food.

Quite okay for a beer. The food didn't impress us. The fries were dry/poorly fried, and the schnitzel seemed like a ready-made product from a deep fryer. The pepper sauce was quite thick, probably from a packet. The fried potatoes were more like thick potato chips, dry but still not crispy. The egg salad was quite okay, but the sausage salad was rather simple, with no dressing at all.

I ordered a currywurst with fries. Unfortunately, the currywurst was barely browned and tasted more like it was cooked than grilled. Instead, I was brought a cordon bleu on the house (10/10), as was the espresso. Incredibly good service, and they place great emphasis on customer satisfaction. I'd be happy to go back.

Very unfriendly to children (2 adults + 3 children under 10): The waiter comes to the table before you're even seated and wants to take your drink order. He doesn't ask about the size of the drinks or explain that they come in 0.2l, 0.3l, and 0.5l sizes. Then, in 30-degree heat in the shade, he brings the children 0.2l, which, of course, was immediately emptied. We had to order more drinks immediately. The menu wasn't at the table, and he only brought it after we asked for it. He came a long time later to order our food. We didn't have to wait long for the food, but the extra plate for the little one, which we ordered, only arrived 10 minutes after the food, after repeated requests. The children's portions are also very small. And for just under €90, we can eat better anywhere. Extremely disappointing!!!

We recently found our way back to the brewery. The roast of the day was truly delicious. Unfortunately, it came out of the kitchen a bit lukewarm at first. But the very friendly service immediately rectified that. The price/performance ratio was excellent. We'll be happy to return.

For four people, we ordered three schnitzels with mushroom cream sauce and one cordon bleu. The schnitzels were probably cooked in a deep fryer. The sauce was too thick and lacked any great flavor, just like the meat. The salad was nicely presented and good. At the end of the meal, the server came and asked how it was. We listed the complaints listed above, and he reported it to the chef. Unfortunately, there was no response from him or anyone else. The server was very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, we will not be eating there again. The drinks (shandy) were unfortunately not cold. To date (June 9, 2025) there has been no response to this letter.

Disappointingly, the food arrived at the table five minutes after ordering—that's only possible with ready meals. Even the clear menu can't hide this fact. Nobody wants to hear honest answers to the question of whether the food tasted good...

The best salad dressing for miles around, and crisp salads. Good food at reasonable prices. The service is always quick and friendly. It's a shame the spare ribs aren't cooked in the sauce like they used to be. The lunch buffet is also very good and reasonably priced. I've been going there for several years, and the quality is always good.

We went there for dinner today. We had the goulash and the chili burger. Both dishes were delicious, and the portions were more than generous. The waitress (a slightly older woman with a Saarland accent) was super friendly and very relaxed. We felt very comfortable. The price/performance ratio was also good. The dark shandy is also highly recommended.

We just managed to get a seat for two. Drinks and food arrived promptly. Sausage salad mixed with egg salad and fried potatoes were delicious. The burger was as advertised and tasty. We'll be back.

On the way home from a shopping trip in Luxembourg. The debate was between Italian and Brauhaus MZG. The anticipation on the way was the Lyoner with fried potatoes. What was served was nothing to be excited about. The Lyoner and side dish were as good as ever; but the fried potatoes!!! The portion was disproportionately large, probably the leftovers from lunch. It was 3:00 by now and prepared, I suspect, in a convection oven. F... dry, not a gram of fat, let alone butter. Three dried-out onion rings and exactly two diced bacon, cut to the smallest detail. The whole thing was saved by a small bowl of curry sauce that I ordered with the order. The same thing happened on my husband's plate. I think they need to change something in their kitchen or replace the fried potato maker. On the next trip home, 100% Italian. One more thing about the owner of the brewery: A good brewery stands not only for good beer, which they undoubtedly offer, but also for good regional cuisine, which is way behind! I'm used to something different from Bavaria or Austria.

There's simply nothing to complain about here. I happened to be there and was completely surprised. I highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.

Staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Merzig whilst visiting Villeroy & Boch Mettlach we had an amazing night here. I recommend the rump steak or the schnitzel for meat lovers, or the veggie burger if meat is not your thing. Everything was well cooked and extremely tasty.

Whether salad plates, burgers (also veggie) or meat dishes, so far it has always tasted great and the portions are very generous. The selection of drinks is very good - the beer selection in particular is varied and tasty;) We always enjoy coming here:)

Very bad service. After 1.5 hours of waiting, I asked where our food was and was told in an unpleasant tone that it would still take a while and if it took too long we were welcome to pay and leave. I've never experienced anything like this in any restaurant. We paid for our drinks and left after 1.5 hours of staying without eating anything. Unfortunately no longer recommended.

I love going back there on occasion. The food is very good, there is something for everyone and, on certain days, the all-you-can-eat buffet is great. The welcome is always impeccable and. Very fair prices. I recommend

I've been passing by here on my way through for years. The food is really good, the service is usually courteous and the ambience fits well with a brewery. The prices are fair. I will stop here again the next time I drive through 👍🏻

Wir waren Stammgäste in der Brasserie und hatten sie seit mehreren Monaten nicht mehr besucht. Als wir heute Mittag auf der Durchreise waren, nahmen wir ein Gericht zu uns, das wir früher immer gegessen hatten: eine Currywurst. Ich bat um Bratkartoffeln anstelle von Pommes frites. Es war einfach nur ekelhaft. Die Wurst hatte wohl aus den Überresten eines Schlachthauses bestanden. Eine Art unverdaulicher Schaum mit viel Luft darin. Die Bratkartoffeln waren nur Pommes frites in Scheiben. Nie wieder!!! Die Currywurst aus dem ersten Imbiss war weitaus besser. Ein absolutes No-Go! Es ist zwar nur eine Brauerei, aber selbst in einer Brauerei habe ich noch nie so etwas Schlechtes gegessen.

Well, recommend... Since there was nothing to be found in the city center of Merzig other than kebabs and doner kebabs, we went to the brewery on the other side of the Saar. For example, I was hoping for Gefilldle, a typical Saarland dish. Unfortunately none. Nevertheless, hearty food and delicious beer are on offer. My spit roast with beer sauce was very tasty, although I would have liked potatoes instead of fries. The faceless salad was drowned in dressing. The staff seemed rushed and we weren't even noticed at the entrance. Ergo: It can be better!

No, it doesn't work like that. Even a nice ambience doesn't help if the cuisine on offer only reaches the level of convenience food from a fast-food restaurant. You'll look for regional cuisine in vain anyway, individual token dishes with a regional touch are at best reminders of what a Saarland brewery could offer its guests. A low point are the so-called fried potatoes, which are served with the grilled Lyoner. At best, they can be called lengthwise French fries, which don't even attempt to resemble fried potatoes. Too bad.

Yesterday we ate here for the first time, also the last time. The food was disastrous. Schnitzel oily and tastes like frozen schnitzel, no starter salad included with the dishes, which is a shame. Unfortunately, Currywurst was also a failure. Beer was ok 🍻. Unfortunately the prices are not adjusted for the portions and the taste. Staff was quick and friendly. So the McDonald's next door is much cheaper, better quality, so it's not uncommon to have such a nice meal. Crazy...never....again...The beer is home-brewed?...So then it's better to buy it from anyone who can, you do the same with your finished products that you buy somewhere....But you can taste it.....It's really not possible.

Disastrous service. Ordered a table over a week ago and asked for a place near the playground. According to the employee on the phone, no problem. We had just arrived, the playground was closed and the “nice” employee dismissed us with “We don’t do the tables we want anyway.” Never been treated so disparagingly. Never again!

With moderate usage, it took 15 minutes just to receive the card. The beer was warm, the cola was at least cold. The burgers came with no sauce at all with the fries. The meat died the second death on the grill. It was almost impossible to cut. The cleaning bucket was right next to our table, which was... contributed a pleasant smell to the food. When I asked the waiter about the shortcomings, all he said was, “We always do it like that.” We then left without a nice evening and thanks from the waiter. We tipped €0.00 on site, which was actually too much. At least the location is nice.

I read the reviews and completely agree with the negatives!!!, especially worth mentioning is that I returned half of my food Cordon bleu is terribly bad, salad is impossibly seasoned, every chip shop makes it better.

We visited on the evening of 6th January, so it wasn't very busy, although there were enough people for a bit of atmosphere. The dark beer was good, my wife had a light beer which was pretty standard. I chose the ribs, and she had Jägerschnitzel. The ribs were dry on the outside, and reasonably tasty, although not the best I've had. The Jägerschnitzel was OK. All in all, not top quality food but perfectly adequate and in line with the price.
