Ryu - Vietnamese Streetfood in Augsburg

Unfriendly service, unaccommodating, and a very limited selection. The waitress pointed her bare finger at one of us (6 people), humiliated her in front of everyone, and expressed how disappointed she was that our friend hadn't tipped us!? Mind you, we all left at least €30 each (a total of €180)????? Our friend is a student and was humiliated in a disrespectful and unfriendly manner. That's not how we're used to Ryu. Apart from that, unfortunately, all sushi (more than half the menu) was canceled... The best part: we had asked for an additional charge to increase the number of prawn dumplings from 5 to 6 (one more so everyone gets one), and she said that wasn't possible and we should just order two portions.

I'm still speechless and shocked by what happened to us in the restaurant. We went to the restaurant on Sunday as a group of six and dined for around €150-170. The food was delicious, but also very expensive. We chose dumplings for our starter and asked the waiter if it was possible to order six instead of five, so everyone would get one. Unfortunately, this was declined, stating that they were "pre-made" portions. As an alternative, we were asked to simply order two portions, which we declined. For the sake of completeness, we would have paid for the extra dumpling, of course. When it came to the bill, four out of six people tipped, but I rounded up my total from €73.40 to €75. This prompted a snide remark from the server, and the server mentioned in front of all the other guests in the restaurant that she had never received such a low tip from such a group. As already mentioned with the appetizer, the service was unsatisfactory, and on top of that, there were students there who aren't so easy to spare, and in my opinion, we generated good sales. It's truly outrageous, and this server should be reprimanded internally. I've never experienced such indiscreet customer service in the restaurant industry. We're still in a period of inflation, and eating out has become a luxury. We should be grateful for every customer.

If you're primarily looking to spend a lot of money, go to RYU. I had a bowl that was delicious, but not exactly world-class. It cost €18 (?)... Phew... then about €5 for a soft drink... It's still upscale Asian food, but in my opinion, not worth those prices. I'd be better off getting fried noodles with chicken for €12 or pork roast with spaetzle for €18. The service was super professional and polite, though, that's for sure.

The food was actually really delicious, but the waitress was so rude that she told a few members of the group she was disappointed they hadn't received a tip, even though the service was poor. She also pointed her finger at them. Absolutely disrespectful. Never again.

Super delicious food!!! I can only warmly recommend it. Extremely diverse menu so you don't even know what to order first. We are already looking forward to the next visit.

Ordered on Friday via Lieferando. After about 60 minutes (that's OK) the food was there, but unfortunately it was completely cold and the dessert we paid for in advance was forgotten. After calling the restaurant they said that dessert should be delivered, but unfortunately that didn't happen. After calling again they said the money should be refunded and someone would get in touch and there would be a discount on the rest of the order because of the stress. Of course, no one has contacted me anymore and I don't have the time or desire to chase after a few euros and will therefore no longer pursue the topic. But I can only advise everyone not to order here.

The only satisfactory overall rating essentially results from the reception and placement. We had reserved and were then seated at the cat table directly between the entrance and the kitchen entrance. When we asked whether we could get one of the at least three other free tables, the lady of the house told us in a very short and unfriendly manner that all tables had already been allocated in advance. The tables in question remained free for at least half an hour. I then had two napkins, one on and one under the table. Drinks have noticeably followed the recent price increase or even overcompensated for it. I'm a bit conflicted about the food, good yes, but not outstanding, some are special, others can be found in any other Asian restaurant.

The bowl of Pho was definitely a decent portion, but the Bao Burger with shrimp is not recommended. The bread was quite dry and chewy and I barely tasted any shrimp from the patty. Unfortunately the price is not very attractive for two people with just one drink at around €50, which is why I wouldn't eat here again.

Wir waren mittags in Ryu und waren beide sehr begeistert wie gut das Essen geschmeckt hat. Geteilt hatten wir Springrolls und als Hauptgericht einmal Curry Chicken und einmal Curry Duck. Das Essen war top und auch der schöne Tisch im Lokal sowie der freundliche Service.

Great food and above all something different from your competitors

Really very good, authentic Viet food, nice ambience, very pleasant service, very fine. There were guests earlier who complained that the food was old, but they ate it all. Everything is fresh here! There are people…hahaha

Waitress is very rude and mannerless. She passed racist comments. Food is oily and can be doubted about the hygiene.

I am writing this review, as we are still sitting at the restaurant. The waitress was very rude and she passed racist comments of us being Indian origin. She mistakenly gave our food to neighboring table and they had some of our food and then they returned the food. She gave the same thing to us and when we confronted her she started to pass racist comments! Not worth it at all

Absolute recommendation! Here you can simply taste that everything is homemade, you've rarely eaten something so delicious! The ambience, staff and hygiene are second to none! I had a Vietnamese coffee and a burger with homemade buns, even the vegetables are specially pickled here. This was definitely not the last visit!

So I don't usually leave bad reviews but I'm shocked by the quality of my food. I've been ordering here for years, and now I ordered soup after a few months. My favorite dish. The ramen is all sticky and tastes mushy and the broth tastes like nothing. Overall it was just really weird and I couldn't continue eating. For almost €20 Pho I can expect something better.

My wife and I ordered there for the first time a few days ago. Lieferando said “80 to 100 minutes” but it was actually 120 minutes!!! But the Gmails said "Delivered 7:06 p.m."... as if waiting 2 hours for the food wasn't enough, the delivery person also came to the door with a plastic bag and handed us the lukewarm food ... Food was delicious, but lukewarm and waiting 2 hours is a disgrace!!!!!!

Friendly staff. Well-kept restaurant with fresh and delicious food. Had summer rolls with tofu, bao burgers with seitan shrimp and udon noodles with duck. We cannot make any statements regarding authenticity. The ingredients were all fresh and crunchy (e.g. the avocado had no brown spots). The burger was just the right size and the sweet potato fries were crispy. The udon noodles were a huge portion with plenty of crispy duck. Overall, the restaurant seemed tidy and well-maintained. The sanitary area was also clean. A clear recommendation. There is a point deduction for the ambience, as we found it relatively cool in the restaurant.

In the cold autumn, it is really comfortable to eat a warm meal of wonton noodles. The taste is good and the portion is sufficient.

We were tourists in Augsburg today and spontaneously decided to eat at Ryu and didn't regret it. The atmosphere is very appealing, the service is extremely friendly. We had summer rolls as a starter, curry with shrimp topping and pho beef, everything tasted excellent. I didn't manage to get my pho and got it packaged in a crappy box to take away, which came in handy as we had a long journey home. We'll definitely be back, great, thumbs up 😀

I always really enjoy coming here (especially spontaneously). The service is good and pleasant. I always feel welcome, no matter how busy there is. Outside you have a very nice view of the Jakobskirche. The vegan wonton soup is especially delicious. Authentic and delicious Vietnamese dishes. All in all - definitely recommend. :)

Got a table for two without a reservation, very friendly, uncomplicated. Extensive menu, but unfortunately sushi was out. The decor is unusual and the food is very tasty. I would like to particularly mention the Gyosa :) It's worth it!

Authentic and delicious. There were four of us. If you don't want to sit outside on the street, you should look around the corner 😉. The taste is amazing 😋. We had a mixed starter platter (absolutely recommended). Various main dishes, all great. The doggy bags are also worth mentioning - for €0.50, the leftovers that you can no longer manage will be safely packed, great! P.S. Great lemonades 🍋‍🟩🍋

We were there at lunchtime during the week and ordered dishes from the lunch menu. The dishes (chicken curry and summer rolls) were very fresh, crunchy and tasty. The price-performance ratio is extremely good. The service was very courteous and friendly. We were served quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food. It's a shame we live so far away, otherwise we would eat here regularly.

This is the best reasonably priced Asian restaurant I have ever been to, I am from NYC. Everything was perfection from the spring and summer rolls to the vegetarian rice dishes. The service was charming and the non alcohol fruit drinks knocked us out. The only disappointment was there was only animal based soups not a vegetarian or vegan option. Hopefully this will be added to the menu.

So, fact, super tasty restaurant with lots of exciting vegetarian options on the menu. The service was very friendly and you sit nicely on a quiet street. The only deduction from my side is that I found it a bit lacking in noodles on my main course. A little bit more would have been really cool compared to the tofu and vegetables. I was really still hungry after eating and didn't have time for another appetizer.

It was always delicious but the delivery service is just terrible. This is another delivery that is more than an hour late. No apologies on the phone, no effort to actually know what the booth is ("yes is on the way" without asking for any order number... They just have no idea about the booth and just want us off the line). For the first time it was so bad that I decided to cancel the whole thing after 45 minutes. The delivery person came anyway (I assume the restaurant and the driver don't talk to each other) and was even upset when I told him that he could drive back. So 1 hour late and still be upset with the customer? What kind of customer oriented service is this... Never again. There are plenty of other delicious Vietnamese restaurants in Augsburg.

Ordered via Lieferando shortly before 5 p.m. and still haven't received my food. Now 7 p.m. When ordering it was first stated at 6:15 p.m. and then at 6:30 p.m. Called at 6:45 p.m. to ask... You should hire someone there who can answer the phone properly. It can't be right to greet someone with such an aggressive hello. I don't feel like going to the store anymore. I highly doubt whether the food is “really on the way”!! Update: Food arrived at 7:20 p.m. - forgot cutlery and wrong broth….

I would rate the food as 0 if that were okay, because I never got mine! Ordered on Lieferando, delivery time of a maximum of 45 minutes was stated. After waiting for 2 hours I called the restaurant. The order went missing again, it's happened three times already! Be careful, the money will still be debited as normal but you won't get any food for it :)

Under no circumstances order from RYU via Lieferando or Uber - delivery takes forever (sometimes over 2 hours...) Food would actually taste quite good - but if it doesn't come 😡

Ordered food in the restaurant -> It never arrived but at the next table, even though they said they never ordered it. It was still put on the table and we were given a ridiculous excuse. After waiting for 1.5 hours we still had nothing on the table and I'm just talking about the starter (dumplings where you warm them up) Ordered food on Lieferando -> never arrived

We didn't receive our food. I think that the order confirmation does not require manual approval. There is no one available by phone who could help us further.

Beautiful location, friendly service and great tasting food. I accept higher prices for food if the prices are right; But I think the drinks are too expensive (e.g. 4.50 euros for a 0.4 l tea).

A very bad restaurant. The delivery was scheduled for 9:00 p.m., but I still didn't receive the food at 10:15 p.m. I called several times and said it was on the way. But in the end I still didn't receive it because the kitchen was closed. Even though I ordered at 7pm and received a confirmation, the staff was rude. really bad

A cheeky, anti-social and again very, very, very disappointing! We visited the restaurant 3 years ago when it had just opened. At that time we waited 45 minutes for a bottle of water and two glasses and were then charged when we wanted to leave hungry. This time we wanted to give it another chance using the delivery service. Order placed at 7:13 p.m. It is currently 9:14 p.m. and there is no sign of the driver or food. After we asked twice by phone where our food was, we were only told that there was a lot going on and that the driver was already on the way. “If it doesn’t come, you just have to cancel it,” I was just told. My family is stunned and hungry. Never again and not a third chance either. The food arrived lukewarm. The taste is ok. Definitely not worth waiting two hours.

I just love coming here again and again. The homemade lemonades are just really good and also look very appealing. The sushi is super tasty. I am always amazed by the vegetarian/vegan selection here and how good the dishes simply taste. Everyone can really find what they are looking for here. I you appetizers and salads are super delicious. Simply recommended. The service is also very nice. The price is absolutely right for the quality and quantity.

Highly recommended. Being a short way from the Fuggerei, one of the main places of interest in the city, it's a convenient place to eat if you are visiting Augsburg. We had bowls with noodles, beef and Vietnamese vegetables. Unlike in many Asian Street food restaurants, the food didn't taste too greasy or hard to digest, and had just the right amount of spiciness. The girl who served us was really nice. And last but not least, spotless restrooms!

A chic little restaurant in Augsburg with a real feel-good atmosphere. A diverse menu, good food and friendly service made the visit a pleasant experience. The prices were okay, it's just not a snack bar. In contrast to other tax-optimized restaurants, you can also pay by card here. Very sympathic.

On Friday evening, we waited for our order for about 40 minutes (a set of rolls). The waiter did not inform us that the wait would be so long. The set was brought without the crispy rolls, and when I asked for the menu and checked, they finally brought them. But they looked like charcoal, they were overcooked and no longer tasty. Additionally, we did not receive any plates and had to eat directly over the table. The whole situation ruined our Friday evening.

Our most beloved Asian eatery in Augsburg. Kid-friendly with a special meal for kids: rice, chicken and vegetables + juice and chocolate egg. For adults a really good variety of dishes and beverages. I bet vegans come here too as the vegan menu is also is impressive, but we usually prefer something with meat. Out of meat options the duck "ente" is something that both of us really got pleasure of.

Restaurant located near the Fuggerei. Simply good! I had a vegetarian dish because it was recommended to me. Really good. Very nice service, the food came to the table quickly and the espresso was very tasty. 5 Stars.

Unfortunately I have to withdraw my 5 stars today. Ryu has been our absolute favorite restaurant in Augsburg since it opened and we eat and order there every week. Unfortunately, we had an experience earlier that was massively disappointing. The food at Ryu was always perfect and every dish was simply great. Unfortunately, my sushi today only tasted like vinegar, it was inedible and I had to return all but three pieces (although I never return food because I don't want to throw food away). That can happen and it's not that tragic. The worst part of the situation was the waiter. There was no apology, just a brisk comment that the others seemed to have enjoyed the sushi. My colleagues then confirmed that the sushi tasted like vinegar. The waiter then disappeared without comment. When we wanted to pay he insisted on the full amount and there was still no apology or kind word. When I then said that it was very disappointing that I was now paying for air and that he should please pass it on, that I found it very unfriendly and that there wasn't even a discount or a drink or anything offered, he turned around and just left. He just left me there. I was very polite at the beginning and emphasized that I usually love it here and that everything is always great, but today the sushi isn't good. I have never experienced such interaction. The least you could have done was say “oh I’m sorry, do you want something else for that?” As mentioned, I was very friendly at the beginning because I usually rave about Ryu. But insisting on charging full price and then leaving you standing there while you talk is really disrespectful. At home I would have gotten air for free.

Top notch food , drinks and service …. The street it’s on isn’t great but it’s so worth it . Portions are big and very filling but that doesn’t mean they lacked anything else … it’s a big 5 from me 💚

Over priced for food and the pricing in menu is higher than QR code on the table. We were forced to select tip percentage which is not common in germany. it is the first time we were foreced to tip in europe for at least 10 percent. They didn't even include our tip payment in the receipt, and indication on the menu or in front of the restaurant.
