Rossknecht am Reithausplatz in Ludwigsburg

The ambiance was very nice and traditionally decorated. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow, and there were long waits for orders and drinks. However, it should be noted that every table was occupied, meaning there was a lot of work to be done. The food was rather poor value for money. The grill was rather sparsely filled, and the quality and preparation of the meat, especially the lamb and pork, was very poor. All in all, an average dining experience. Additionally, the noise level from neighboring tables was very loud, but this is likely due to the brewery's character.

Food was lukewarm. It's a shame that the portions aren't that big. TFK goods are a shame about the ambience of the restaurant.

A super-quaint restaurant with a wide selection of in-house (craft) beers and more. The service, however, left a lot to be desired: It took a long time to take our order, items were forgotten, and unfortunately, we didn't get a second round because the waiter didn't come to our table. The food, however, is beyond reproach! The best Maultaschen (swabian ravioli) and Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) I've ever had. Especially with the gravy and homemade mustard, it's absolutely amazing! 🍻

We had roast beef with onions and spaetzle and cheese spaetzle. We'd go back anytime. Very tasty and the portions were generous.

We had visitors from Hanover and Wuppertal over the weekend and went to eat at Rossknecht. Everyone enjoyed the food. The only downside was that we had to wait almost two hours for our food. It would have been appropriate to at least let people know that it might take longer. It's a shame, so only 3 stars. Otherwise, the food is highly recommended.

Really nice, genuin and local place.

The restaurant didn't impress us, even though the food was good. Unfortunately, we were literally seated in the spider cabinet (see pictures), directly under cobwebs and several spiders. It was a bit disgusting. The menu was also sticky and dirty. We didn't say anything because it was a birthday party and we didn't want to put the host in an awkward position. The food was good and plentiful. The free spaetzle with sauce wasn't good. It's a shame. Prices are quite expensive depending on the meal. Service is very friendly. They partner with Fritz-Cola – well, they always serve 0.33l bottles. A very popular place in and of itself. We won't be coming back and prefer other, clean breweries.

The food was okay overall, but rather average for the price. The beer deserves special mention; it tasted good. Unfortunately, the glasses weren't as clean as one would expect. We enjoyed the dessert much more than the main course. We would especially like to praise the service: The waitresses were very attentive, friendly, and always prompt – drinks and refills arrived without any waiting time.

Five of us spontaneously got a spot on a Saturday. We waited a bit, but it was totally worth it. The food was amazing.

We were a group of ten and had made a reservation in advance. The seating was very cramped, so we felt practically squashed – there was hardly any room for our food either. The restaurant was packed. Although we arrived at 7:15 p.m., our food order wasn't taken until 7:50 p.m. Some roasts were medium, as requested, but others were unfortunately cooked all the way through. At €33.90, I would have expected better. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, but the low ceiling makes for an extremely high noise level. You have to speak loudly to be heard. A fun side note: The noise level was consistently between 80 and 95 decibels – making it impossible to have an undisturbed conversation. The beer was excellent, but at €5.50 per half liter, it was also quite expensive. Conclusion: High prices for average quality, very good beer. However, I wouldn't visit the restaurant again with a group.

Super friendly and prompt service. Menu typical of a brewery. Very good quality food. Fresh products, fresh preparation. Well above brewery standards. The interior ambiance is also brewery standard. A bit dark and worn. Seating a bit uncomfortable. But the food is truly excellent.

Highly recommended. Good food, including Swabian dishes. Good beer. Rustic ambiance with plenty of space, also suitable for groups. Very friendly, attentive staff. I'd be happy to return.

Another addendum, because it was so outrageous and rude: Ludwigsburg Brewing Days, Sun., June 1, 2025. It starts to rain. I take shelter at one of the Rossknecht beer stands. A Rossknecht employee approaches me diagonally from the side and informs me curtly and harshly, "You can't order here, and besides, I'm standing here." He pushes me away from the bar. I stand in the rain and just stare at his back in amazement! Outrageous, unacceptable behavior! The incident happened a few weeks ago, but it still has an impact, which is why I'm writing this review. We often invite business visitors, especially from abroad, to Rossknecht, but that has been canceled since then and until further notice. An incident like that in the presence of customers would be extremely embarrassing!

The food was okay, but unfortunately, I didn't particularly impress. I personally felt the value for money wasn't quite right. The staff was friendly and cheerful. I had the pan-fried chicken breast – presumably, they don't serve sauce as standard, which is why I ordered it afterward. Unfortunately, it took quite a while for the waiter to come back to the table and only acknowledge me after I waved over. A quick follow-up about two minutes after the food was served would have been appreciated – it would have significantly improved the overall impression.

Small, cozy restaurant. My food was very good, but the drink could have been colder. The staff is friendly and helpful. Everything takes a bit too long for my taste. You can hear from the tables next to me that the food is good.

Good food, but pretty high prices. Chicken burger (180g) for €18.90 and an Angus beef burger (200g) for €19.90? Spätzle for €17.90? All pretty expensive, but enough to fill you up, plus salad/fries.

We were at the restaurant with a large group for almost 10 hours and enjoyed a great meal and drinks. The service was consistently excellent: very friendly, fast, proactive, and child-friendly. The selection of dishes offers something to suit every taste. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy, but also a bit stuffy in the high temperatures. There are also some shady spots outside. Thanks to the Rossknecht team for a great day and evening!

I really enjoy the food at the brewery, and it's always beautifully presented. The potato salad here actually doesn't come from a bucket; it's truly homemade! The service is attentive and friendly. Only the seating/benches could be more comfortable, as they aren't padded. The thin cushions that you can use as seat pads are more of a decorative touch. Nevertheless, I always enjoy coming back and feel very comfortable in this restaurant.

A super nice place to enjoy German cuisine and drink local beer. The service was excellent and very attentive. They have baby chairs, which is super convenient for families. Since the weather was nice, we were able to enjoy the terrace—a real plus!

Moin Folks, wir bewegten unsere Füße und sahen plötzlich diese Brauerei und flott die Stufen hoch und hereinspaziert. Volle Hütte und sehr freundlich und charmant wurden wir zu anderen an den Stehtisch geparkt, nun das war sehr übersichtlich geil und Zack hatten wir das Bier auf dem Tisch und ja sehr lecker. Wir werden wieder erscheinen und mehr genießen 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

It was as always, the brewery Zum Rossknecht offers very good beer and very tasty food, from Wiener Schnitzel to lentils and spaetzle to Roßbraten, everything is there and the weather is perfect for sitting outside, I'll always come back, highly recommended

Rossknecht is THE address in Ludwigsburg for everyone who appreciates well-brewed beer. Located in the old town, a detour to Rossknecht is the ideal end to a walk in beautiful Ludwigsburg. The food... is "good" — although not worth the trip. In any case, it is much better than the convenience kitchen that you can now get at Wichtel. “Schnitzel/French fries” with the delicious Urhell: Fits — also in terms of price. Service is OK, but you should be prepared for longer waiting times. That means - you can easily drink two beers before the food comes. Also a sales strategy. ;) ONLY DEFICIENCY: the toilets! When you go into the basement, you're immediately struck by the smell of a rest area. I hope in this case it is not true that the hygiene in the kitchen can be judged from the hygiene in the toilets. Dear Rossknecht team: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

We've been there several times. Highly recommended. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic. The restaurant is usually full, so it's worth making a reservation in advance. The portions are huge, the food is very tasty. The menu offers a good selection of typical Swabian dishes, schnitzels and burgers. Personally, I love the fried potatoes.

If you want to try local cuisine in a local interior, then this is the place for you. The cafe's interior perfectly recreates the atmosphere of the 18th century. It even has its own brewery. And of course, local cuisine.

Locale stupendo all’interno e dove è posizionato. Birre neanche a dirlo top Peccato per la poca scelta di “aperitivi”, da Italiano abituato a stuzzicare mentre si beve ho notato questa pecca. Ideale per pranzare tipico tedesco.

Come here for German food, definitely. The food is good, beer too. The interior gives a good Deutsche Vibe. There are hooks on the wall in every corner for coats.

One of the best beer and food locations

When we arrived, we were almost alone in the restaurant. Drinks were picked up and brought quickly. Then we had to wait 45 minutes until an employee finally noticed us when we asked to take the order. He passed it on, but nothing happened. We were sitting next to the kitchen, so the staff saw us. We also heard the stress of the employees and on an empty stomach. The food finally came and it was delicious. Outside we saw that all the tables across the street were occupied, which was probably the reason for the overload. But of course the whole thing is not guest-friendly.

Small point of criticism, the seat cushions.😏 Otherwise everything is good.

Simply delicious: home-brewed beer, meat in the beer goulash was super tender and the waiters are always in a good mood. Was there for the third time now and was always great!!

Wir waren eine Gruppe von 10 Personen und hatten reserviert. Als wir ankamen, war nichts vorbereitet, kein Tisch reserviert. Da alles frei war, hatten wir die Auswahl. Ein reservierter Tisch wäre trotzdem ein schönes Zeichen des Willkommens gewesen. Mein Essen war billigstes Convenience Food: 2 "Rösti" aus der Tiefkühltruhe, dazu grüner Salat mit zuviel Sauce bzw. Pesto (?!) und ein paar Würfel Schafskäse. Ca. 13 Euro. Eine Rhabarberschorle (Fritz) 4,90 Euro. Ambiente: in die Jahre gekommenes gutbürgerliches Lokal, die Decke ist mit einer Schicht aus Bierdeckeln zugeklebt (Dekoration). Weitere Bierdeckel hängend an einem grünen Kranz im Flur. Bedienung: überfordert, vermutlich, da sie allein für den ganzen - relativ großen - Laden zuständig war (eine weitere Person hinter der Theke, sehr gestresst).

Dined there with colleagues. The menu is ok. . Typical Swabian specialties that also taste good. The restaurant is simply furnished. Beer lovers are spoiled for choice. Staff is very friendly. Parking is difficult to find as it is centrally located and quite busy. It is recommended and sensible to park in the Marstall Center car park. From there it's just a few steps to the restaurant. We had a pleasant and cozy evening at Rossknecht.

In Ludwigsburg gibt es nicht viele nette Restaurants. Wir waren zu Besuch in der Stadt und wollten Freunde zum Essen einladen. Meine Frau hatte die Idee Rossknecht, was vor vielen Jahren gut und beliebt war. Wir waren komplett enttäuscht. Der Laden ist mittlerweile abgeranzt. Wurde gefühlt seit Eröffnung vor vielleicht 20 oder mehr Jahren nicht renoviert. Es richt echt unangenehm. Milde gesagt. Der Muff vom Essensgeruch häng überall in den Wänden und Möbeln. Schnitzel 31€. Linsen lauwarm 20€. Würde mich bei jedem meiner Gäste schämen wenn mein Privatdomizil in solch einem Zustand wäre. Wir gerne sehr, sehr oft und gerne Essen. Daher weiß ich das es auch viel besser geht. Ungenügend nur deshalb nicht weil die Bedienung sehr freundlich war.

Went there on business with a large group. The food was great and also good value for money. Great service, very friendly and also fun to have, gastro professionals. As expected, the furnishings are very rustic and beautiful as a brewery. In our opinion, modernization would only be necessary in the toilet area. Everyone really enjoyed it and can only recommend it.

We've been there several times and weren't so impressed this time! The whole place smelled of food because the kitchen door was open! The clatter in the kitchen wasn't pleasant either. The food was simply not value for money.

Küfa Pfänle + Uhrwolke Helles🫶 Absolutely first-class cuisine ❗️ I couldn't believe it, but the Uhrmurb Helle Beer 🍺 is super tasty and has a nice, mildly bitter finish. I drank a whole liter of it straight away. The dish with the strong sauce and lots of peppercorns tastes very good! The service from the two gentlemen shouldn't go unmentioned, because they flew through the tables very quickly and attentively 🚀. Despite the very full restaurant, all orders were served promptly and we received a tip that was rounded up! Thank you and see you soon for home-style food ❗️🍴❗️
