Rossknecht am Reithausplatz in Ludwigsburg

We spontaneously decided to stop by for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the charmingly rustic decor. We were particularly impressed by their own brewery and the wide selection of beers. The menu is packed with delicious dishes, all at a great price-performance ratio. The service was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. However, there are two minor drawbacks: it could have been warmer in the dining room in January, and that would have suited the food better. Something a bit hotter would have been nice. Otherwise, everything was excellent, and we'll definitely be back! 👍👍

A fantastic spot in Ludwigsburg for delicious food and beer. They have three beers on tap, and more in bottles or cans, all highly recommended. I had amazing Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle), but the menu offers many more options. The atmosphere is great and the service is top-notch. What more could you want? I definitely know where to go next time I'm in Ludwigsburg 😊

Quaint pub, very nicely furnished with benches, home-brewed beer, very tasty home-style cooking (especially the gravy). Both the light beer and the wheat beer (on tap) are very drinkable and delicious. Fast service.

We were a group of seven and ate at Rossknecht in January 2026. Making a reservation online was easy. The food was, as always, very good, and Rossknecht beer is simply delicious. The service was as friendly as ever. I'm deducting one star because of the table we were given – every few minutes, icy drafts came through, which was very unpleasant.

The cheapest spaetzle from a bag, plus bagged sauce... I'm speechless and find it an insult to serve something like that to a guest for 26 euros.

Before you have a meal here, I dare you to check out the toilets so you get a feel for how this place deals with hygiene. We certainly wish we did, as this would have saved us from the experience altogether. As for the food, not awful, but very basic and only luke warm. Very expensive too. In summary, best to be avoided. How they managed to get such a high rating? A mistery...

So, if you like good beer 🍺, this is the place for you 👍 And if you'd like some good food 🥘, they have that too. Plenty of choice and generous portions. I'll definitely be back and recommend it to others. Cheers & Enjoy! 🍻

If you want to eat good Swabian food, this is the place to be! The prices are steep, but the food is good and plentiful.

There were eight of us on the first weekend of the Christmas market. The food arrived after about 20 minutes, but we were politely informed of the potential wait. The wait was definitely worth it; everything was of high quality (the meat was tender, the Spätzle were cooked to perfection, and the fried potatoes and fries were excellent. The fries were quite large, not those tiny, scrawny things you get in other restaurants). There was also live music that evening. The band played wonderfully and was positioned so that the performance didn't interfere with the customers eating, allowing for easy conversation. We were truly impressed and will definitely visit this restaurant again in the next few days. Considering the portion sizes and quality, the prices were fair and reasonable. The staff was always attentive and not as pushy as in other places. A big thank you again to the entire team for this fantastic evening.

We don't come to Rossknecht often, but we've been going there for many years. Unfortunately, this time, as has been the case several times in recent years, we had a table right next to the kitchen door. It's not a cozy spot. It's also very noisy in that corner. The food was very good and plentiful. However, the service left much to be desired. First, we had to wait at least 15 minutes before we were served to order, and then we waited an hour and a half for our food. We arrived very hungry from our journey, and sitting right next to the kitchen table, with food constantly being carried past you, isn't exactly pleasant. I would also have liked to order a second drink, but although everyone kept rushing past our table, unfortunately, no one asked if we wanted anything else.

Great beers and typical brewery food

The service was a complete failure; the first dish arrived after an hour, and there were four of us at the table. The other dishes arrived 10-15 minutes apart, and some were even cold. The food itself tasted quite good.

The beer is really good. Only order the pizzas from next door if you value your sanity.

We were there on a Friday. Without a reservation, there was no chance of getting in. We had to wait over half an hour before a server came and another 1.5 hours before we got our food. It was almost too late, and my wife and I would have gotten up and left. The food was okay, but we wouldn't be coming back as we weren't really impressed with everything. That's just my subjective opinion, of course.

The Rossknecht is a truly cozy inn. They serve fantastic Swabian cuisine and home-brewed beer. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable.

On a business trip to Stuttgart, I'm staying with colleagues in Ludwigsburg. I was craving food, beer, and a typical German restaurant, and after some research, I found this typical Teutonic restaurant. Generous dishes, excellent meat, superb beer, and a wonderful atmosphere. We had a truly enjoyable evening. Highly recommended!

Rossknecht is a lovely brewery taproom. The food is good and freshly prepared. The service, however, is somewhat inattentive. On the other hand, the ambiance is very appealing. Overall, slightly above average.

The portions are decent, except for the burgers (they're like tiny pretzel buns). They're way too small for the price, and we had to wait over 50 minutes for the food. Edit: The restaurant tried to have my review deleted.

Great shop! Incredibly friendly service, excellent food, and some of the best beer I've ever had. Definitely worth a visit in Ludwigsburg!

The ambiance was very nice and traditionally decorated. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow, and there were long waits for orders and drinks. However, it should be noted that every table was occupied, meaning there was a lot of work to be done. The food was rather poor value for money. The grill was rather sparsely filled, and the quality and preparation of the meat, especially the lamb and pork, was very poor. All in all, an average dining experience. Additionally, the noise level from neighboring tables was very loud, but this is likely due to the brewery's character.

Food was lukewarm. It's a shame that the portions aren't that big. TFK goods are a shame about the ambience of the restaurant.

A super-quaint restaurant with a wide selection of in-house (craft) beers and more. The service, however, left a lot to be desired: It took a long time to take our order, items were forgotten, and unfortunately, we didn't get a second round because the waiter didn't come to our table. The food, however, is beyond reproach! The best Maultaschen (swabian ravioli) and Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) I've ever had. Especially with the gravy and homemade mustard, it's absolutely amazing! 🍻

We had roast beef with onions and spaetzle and cheese spaetzle. We'd go back anytime. Very tasty and the portions were generous.

We had visitors from Hanover and Wuppertal over the weekend and went to eat at Rossknecht. Everyone enjoyed the food. The only downside was that we had to wait almost two hours for our food. It would have been appropriate to at least let people know that it might take longer. It's a shame, so only 3 stars. Otherwise, the food is highly recommended.

The restaurant didn't impress us, even though the food was good. Unfortunately, we were literally seated in the spider cabinet (see pictures), directly under cobwebs and several spiders. It was a bit disgusting. The menu was also sticky and dirty. We didn't say anything because it was a birthday party and we didn't want to put the host in an awkward position. The food was good and plentiful. The free spaetzle with sauce wasn't good. It's a shame. Prices are quite expensive depending on the meal. Service is very friendly. They partner with Fritz-Cola – well, they always serve 0.33l bottles. A very popular place in and of itself. We won't be coming back and prefer other, clean breweries.

Five of us spontaneously got a spot on a Saturday. We waited a bit, but it was totally worth it. The food was amazing.

The food was okay overall, but rather average for the price. The beer deserves special mention; it tasted good. Unfortunately, the glasses weren't as clean as one would expect. We enjoyed the dessert much more than the main course. We would especially like to praise the service: The waitresses were very attentive, friendly, and always prompt – drinks and refills arrived without any waiting time.

We were a group of ten and had made a reservation in advance. The seating was very cramped, so we felt practically squashed – there was hardly any room for our food either. The restaurant was packed. Although we arrived at 7:15 p.m., our food order wasn't taken until 7:50 p.m. Some roasts were medium, as requested, but others were unfortunately cooked all the way through. At €33.90, I would have expected better. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, but the low ceiling makes for an extremely high noise level. You have to speak loudly to be heard. A fun side note: The noise level was consistently between 80 and 95 decibels – making it impossible to have an undisturbed conversation. The beer was excellent, but at €5.50 per half liter, it was also quite expensive. Conclusion: High prices for average quality, very good beer. However, I wouldn't visit the restaurant again with a group.

Super friendly and prompt service. Menu typical of a brewery. Very good quality food. Fresh products, fresh preparation. Well above brewery standards. The interior ambiance is also brewery standard. A bit dark and worn. Seating a bit uncomfortable. But the food is truly excellent.

Another addendum, because it was so outrageous and rude: Ludwigsburg Brewing Days, Sun., June 1, 2025. It starts to rain. I take shelter at one of the Rossknecht beer stands. A Rossknecht employee approaches me diagonally from the side and informs me curtly and harshly, "You can't order here, and besides, I'm standing here." He pushes me away from the bar. I stand in the rain and just stare at his back in amazement! Outrageous, unacceptable behavior! The incident happened a few weeks ago, but it still has an impact, which is why I'm writing this review. We often invite business visitors, especially from abroad, to Rossknecht, but that has been canceled since then and until further notice. An incident like that in the presence of customers would be extremely embarrassing!

The food was okay, but unfortunately, I didn't particularly impress. I personally felt the value for money wasn't quite right. The staff was friendly and cheerful. I had the pan-fried chicken breast – presumably, they don't serve sauce as standard, which is why I ordered it afterward. Unfortunately, it took quite a while for the waiter to come back to the table and only acknowledge me after I waved over. A quick follow-up about two minutes after the food was served would have been appreciated – it would have significantly improved the overall impression.

Good food, but pretty high prices. Chicken burger (180g) for €18.90 and an Angus beef burger (200g) for €19.90? Spätzle for €17.90? All pretty expensive, but enough to fill you up, plus salad/fries.

I really enjoy the food at the brewery, and it's always beautifully presented. The potato salad here actually doesn't come from a bucket; it's truly homemade! The service is attentive and friendly. Only the seating/benches could be more comfortable, as they aren't padded. The thin cushions that you can use as seat pads are more of a decorative touch. Nevertheless, I always enjoy coming back and feel very comfortable in this restaurant.

We were at the restaurant with a large group for almost 10 hours and enjoyed a great meal and drinks. The service was consistently excellent: very friendly, fast, proactive, and child-friendly. The selection of dishes offers something to suit every taste. The restaurant itself is quaint and cozy, but also a bit stuffy in the high temperatures. There are also some shady spots outside. Thanks to the Rossknecht team for a great day and evening!

A super nice place to enjoy German cuisine and drink local beer. The service was excellent and very attentive. They have baby chairs, which is super convenient for families. Since the weather was nice, we were able to enjoy the terrace—a real plus!

Volle Hütte und sehr freundlich und charmant wurden wir zu anderen an den Stehtisch geparkt, nun das war sehr übersichtlich geil und Zack hatten wir das Bier auf dem Tisch und ja sehr lecker. It was as always, the brewery Zum Rossknecht offers very good beer and very tasty food, from Wiener Schnitzel to lentils and spaetzle to Roßbraten, everything is there and the weather is perfect for sitting outside, I'll always come back, highly recommended

Rossknecht is THE address in Ludwigsburg for everyone who appreciates well-brewed beer. Located in the old town, a detour to Rossknecht is the ideal end to a walk in beautiful Ludwigsburg. The food... is "good" — although not worth the trip. In any case, it is much better than the convenience kitchen that you can now get at Wichtel. “Schnitzel/French fries” with the delicious Urhell: Fits — also in terms of price. Service is OK, but you should be prepared for longer waiting times. That means - you can easily drink two beers before the food comes. Also a sales strategy. ;) ONLY DEFICIENCY: the toilets! When you go into the basement, you're immediately struck by the smell of a rest area. I hope in this case it is not true that the hygiene in the kitchen can be judged from the hygiene in the toilets. Dear Rossknecht team: DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
