Rosemarie Garten & Bar in Essen

Hello everyone, Recently I was in the Bar Rosmarie. The bar is really very well and comfortably furnished. The service staff is very nice and accommodating and the waiting time for the food is very short. I had a burger and a portion of hollo fries which was really very good. The quality of the food was top.

Nice terrace where to sit and enjoy a drink or eat, especially if it's sunny!

I've been visiting this place since it opened. At first I was really impressed - delicious dishes, a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service. But unfortunately the quality has steadily declined over the years. My last visit was particularly disappointing. The dishes were prepared with obvious errors: the shakshuka contained severely overcooked eggs and was strangely served with a spoon; the Caesar salad came with burnt bacon and… no cutlery at all. The highlight, however, were the “Frederic” eggs – the protein was raw and cloudy. What was most disturbing, however, was the behavior of the staff. To even draw attention to the situation, I had to go to the issue myself. For seven minutes I tried to get the staff's attention - to no avail, I was simply ignored. After my comments, one of the service staff actually started explaining to the chef how to prepare eggs. Seriously? A waitress instructs the chef? That's not just unprofessional, it's absurd. Almost an hour after we arrived, there were still no napkins or cutlery on our table. Unfortunately the service had become a farce. First we were served by a young woman with blonde hair. After my comments about her behavior and the lack of basic equipment at the table, she apparently decided to stop looking after our table - she was probably offended. In any case, she wasn't busy: most of the staff were chatting at the bar and drinking coffee instead of taking care of the guests or their tasks. Another waiter finally took over the service. We ordered two desserts to take away - they were just brought in a box, no bag. Apparently the bags have run out (they used to always be there, by the way). Oh yes, when we left, the entire staff said goodbye - with the exception of the blonde waitress in question. If I were to start listing all the incidents that have happened in this restaurant over time, it would probably add up to a whole chapter. It's really sad to see a once good restaurant lose face. I very much hope that management finally reacts to these developments – before it is too late.

At the start we had to wait a bit for our order to be taken but once he was there our waiter very nice. We had some nice drinks and delicious food. We ordered the Opa's schnitzel with normal fries and the mushroom schnitzel with sweet potato fries. For dessert we had a strawberry and mint with basil sorbet. Very nice atmosphere and decor. We were with a small dog but that was no problem. They even bought a big bowl of water for him.

Good selection of food and drinks. Service definitely needs to be more attentive on the terrace. You have to wave around Being seen and also waiting time for the bill.

Really nice restaurant, huge selection of dishes and the service was always friendly and attentive. The furnishings are definitely a highlight! I think it's good that there are toilets upstairs and downstairs. The vegan burger was okay, I personally would have liked the menu to say what type of patty it was. The drinks and the chocolate mousse are great! I would like to come more often.

Beautiful ambience and a menu with a wonderful selection that deviates from the norm and very tasty dishes. Very nice service.

Didn't really feel like we were welcome. Food is standard. Snacks and drinks all day long so we didn't feel like drinking anymore. So just something to eat. It sounded like they were talking about us and it sounded like the wait staff was also being bullied a bit, so once we had finished eating the bullying of staff among themselves was also over, which seems like a coincidence.

Cozy restaurant/bar in downtown Essen. In the summer you can sit outside, but it's also really nice inside. The menu offers a nice selection of pleasing and delicious dishes that everyone is guaranteed to find. To be on the safe side, you should make a reservation because it is always very crowded there.

Went there for the first time today. Delicious breakfast, super nice atmosphere and decor. Service staff warm, polite and attentive. Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice restaurant with a wonderful menu. The service was super attentive and everything went very quickly. The food was also very, very good. Only my pulled salmon was a bit dry, but that's complaining at a pretty high level. The individual dishes also read very well and the vegetarian or vegan dishes don't seem so carelessly added but rather fit wonderfully into the concept. We'd love to come back.

Lovely chilled atmosphere, beautifully decorated, good drinks selection and good quality Aperol Spritz. Will definitely come back here and maybe for food as well.

We always like to come here to eat, have a drink and chat with friends. The food is delicious and interesting (I like the pumpkin soup and the sweet potato fries), but the salads are also great, as are many other things. I'm happy to drink lilet vive(t)here, but of course also hot drinks. Greetings Anne😘

We were passing through Essen and stumbled upon Rosemarie's via Google. We didn't regret it! From the ambiance and the excellent service team to the fantastic dishes, which were not only delicious but also visually stunning – it was a wonderful evening! We'll be back!

The restaurant, decorated in a modern country-style, welcomes you with a friendly atmosphere. I really like the real trees in the high interior. The service was friendly and even asked questions, or at least it tasted good! There's an extensive menu, including vegan and vegetarian dishes. We had Grandpa's veal schnitzel with sweet potato fries and salad and a salmon burger with salad. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty! I sent a compliment to the kitchen! The value for money was right. Highly recommended!

Before a visit to the Lichtburg, I was right next door to Rosemarie Essen. I'm not from Essen and decided to do this because the name simply appealed to me. The ambience of the fairly large restaurant was really nice. Modern and classic elements blend into a very pleasant light in the very high room. In addition to normal tables, there are also sofas or swings. Although the place is very large and was full (surprisingly for a Monday), it wasn't too loud, so the three of us were able to have a good conversation. When it's warmer outside, you can also sit outside and look out over the large square, the pedestrian zone and the churches, as the terrace is slightly higher. The food was good. The veggie Hawaiian burger was very juicy, the sweet potato fries were crunchy and the dips were super tasty. There are what feels like 15 different dips on the menu, from which you can choose which to accompany the corresponding dishes. Tip: date dip! The service was very friendly and in a good mood. Since it was completely full even on a Monday, it's best to reserve a table.

Coffee and cake, dinner and dinner. All equally delicious. And that in a beautiful location in the center of Essen. What a great atmosphere, beautiful interior and lovely staff!

See good food, friendly service

You sit between gathered plastic flowers and then you wait for about 30 minutes for the coffee - the cake came within a short time. Waiting, waiting and always these rotten flowers.

All in all a nice place to spend a nice evening. There are delicious little things to eat or of course larger ones if you're hungry. All in all, quite clever...but I can't get over the €10 glass of Sauvignon!!! Danger!!! A glass of normal white wine costs 6 euros. Otherwise there were great cocktails for €10… and it wasn't a great first class wine. A glass of average wine doesn't cost that much in Rüttenscheid and no normal wine costs that much in any beach bistros in the front row with a great view on Sylt! Was the price diced here!?

Great food, but unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. We had to wait 20 minutes for dessert, which was actually only warmed up briefly. Very long waiting times for the staff to notice you

A very nice restaurant with delicious food and friendly service!

We were there twice during the IPM, without a reservation, as a couple. We got a table both times. The food was great, prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. 12 out of 10 stars from me, keep it up!

It used to be a really nice place. We particularly liked the breakfast with Marie's garden basket etc. Prices have gone up, and where can they find it? However, at the same time the prices were increased and the portions were significantly reduced. So if you can do either one of the two. Both are a bit bold. Since Corona, there has also been the practice of placing people at the tables no matter how full or empty it is. For two you only get cat tables. We wanted a nice table at the top of the level. And not the cat table by the stairs. The waitress, who was very unmotivated and had actually been walking around for months with a “what do you want from me” expression on her face, blared through the shop “A table of four for two????” It's been dealt with. So sorry but the staff can do that to others. That was very uncomfortable and embarrassing. Strangely enough, the owner's other restaurants have completely different, very nice and warm staff. But Rosemarie's nose has been hanging very high for a while. Very unsympathetic.

Detailed gastronomy. Great concept in food and drinks. Top decoration, top service, reservations work well online unless there are over 100 reservations on some days. Unfortunately one point deducted because of the noise.

Beautifully decorated restaurant in the heart of Essen. Great menu, varied & delicious. Very nice staff. Feel free to try the lasagna with salmon and spinach or the pulled salmon burger with sweet potato fries (see photo). 😇

A very large location, the noise level varies depending on the number of visitors. The menu is very extensive. Lots of veggy dishes. Fast and friendly service. Delicious dishes from the kitchen. No parking spaces at the restaurant. Downtown eatery. We'll be back. Thank you and greetings

Super nice, staff attentive, fast and really friendly, well located and the food was delicious.

Unfortunately, the Rösti were fried in old fat, which had a very negative impact on the enjoyment. I also told the waitress this, but there was no further response. The nut tart was also too old, perhaps a problem that arose over the holidays, the icing on the cake had gone sour. I won't go there again, I was too disappointed with the poor quality of the food. The menu suggests freshness, but what you get is disappointing.

The waiters are super rude. The waiter arrived and immediately ordered us to move around. The cafe wasn't full and we weren't supposed to occupy the tables for four, which were also small.

I was here for the first time today. I had a nice place, even without a reservation. Breakfast was good (Marie's Morning Crush with scrambled eggs), although I would opt for the fried eggs next time. What was declared in the menu as a "portion of scrambled eggs" turned out to be (if at all...) half a portion... The rye roll was delicious, the slice of house bread was fine. The potato roll wasn't my thing, but it was okay. All in all, a nice experience with very fast and attentive service (a dog was given a bowl of water shortly after arriving with his owner 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾)

A great atmosphere in itself, but unfortunately a friend of mine had a large piece of plastic in his burger. The waitress just shrugged her shoulders and in the end asked for the full price. We won't go there again.

Beautiful nostalgic cafe bistro restaurant in the building of Germany's largest cinema, the "Lichtburg". Super friendly fast staff. Very attentive. Delicious homemade cake. Great view of the Christmas castle square, the cathedral and currently the Ferris wheel. Great relaxing and then fresh again for the Christmas market or shopping for your loved ones at Christmas.

Nice location in downtown Essen. Friendly and quick service. Wide range of different types of food. Price-performance is right. When the weather is nice, sit outside and watch the hustle and bustle on Kettwiger Straße. Even during the week, we recommend making a reservation.

We’re Australians travelling through Germany and can say.. best breakfast and probably best food we’ve had here so far. Especially the fresh baked bread and croissant. Bacon and eggs were also 🔥🔥🔥

We went there for breakfast on vacation with a small child. We and our wishes were responded to in a very friendly manner. The conditions were very nice. The breakfast was very tasty, value for money was absolutely fine. I was very excited that there was a nursing and changing room, unfortunately not a given. We really liked the atmosphere, it invites you to linger. We would definitely come again.

Delicious food, great selection of drinks and a feel-good atmosphere

The food was very tasty, as were the drinks. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time, about 30 minutes for a cake that only had to be served from the display case. The shop was barely full, only a few guests. The atmosphere is modern and cozy, but I find it too crowded, the hanging swings unflattering and the white bicycle, given its significance, unfortunately really tasteless.

During my trip, I visited this place several times and highly recommend it for its excellent balance of price and quality. The Egg Benedict toast was by far the best I’ve ever had — the caramelized onion adds an incredible flavor. My favorite drinks were the chocolate with pistachio and the hot chocolate, but everything else was equally delightful, including the salmon toast, yogurt with granola, and the juices. Everything was outstanding and exceeded my expectations.

Last week I was traveling to Essen for work and had dinner in the restaurant with many colleagues in the evening. The service and the ambience were top 👍. The food was also very good. But the final spark for the 5 stars was missing.

We ordered pasta. So if you're hungry, don't order these. The plate just covered the bottom. There's really not much in quantity and at almost 15 euros, nothing special. I asked if the pasta was at least homemade, but of course not. If you have to eat something afterwards because you're not full, you can make the pasta straight at home. Once and never again.

Rosemarie stands out from the other main cafés and chain restaurants with a certain individuality. Very friendly service.

A nice restaurant, unfortunately very crowded because of the acoustics. You had the feeling of being in a swarm of bees. But I would still recommend it if it doesn't bother someone.

Nice place. A bit loud at times, but overall it's okay. The food selection fits the concept. It tastes good and doesn't stand out from comparable places. I can't judge breakfast. When the restaurant is busy, waiting times are very long. Even with drinks.
