We were there during the Sunday shopping season and had booked a table. Most of the staff seemed competent...but there was also one colleague who seemed rather annoyed. Food was sufficient and good. The tomato soup was very tasty...unlike other restaurants. Penne arrabiata was very spicy and sufficient in quantity. The bread from the starter was used to absorb the delicious sauce afterwards. My wife had a salad...very tasty, but it could have been washed better because it was still a bit sandy. All in all, highly recommended and okay for the price

It used to be better, but now it's mostly just completely 'overcrowded' with the negative consequences such as overload and not so friendly staff.

I ordered a pizza, which turned out to be the worst dining experience ever. The dough was so thin and wet that it tasted like rubber. I couldn't even hold it in my hand because everything fell onto the plate. Terrible atmosphere and hopeless service. The positive opinions of other customers are fascinating. Perhaps they have never eaten anything better.

It's not as great as it once was, the food has gotten worse, and unfortunately the staff isn't as friendly anymore.

The place is great, I live nearby. However, I can no longer recommend the restaurant. The service seems unfriendly, stressed and annoyed. No comparison to back then. I personally had a pizza, but that is pretty much the worst pizza I know. Sorry, unfortunately not recommended. But production does it. Tourist restaurant. I haven't experienced it like that anywhere else I've been on vacation. Too bad

Always worth a visit. Ideally made, ice cream parlor and pizzeria combined. Delicious ice cream, not too expensive. Conveniently located in the center of Xanten, nice view of the market square.

Authentic Italian cuisine, prices are unbeatable, attentive service, pleasant atmosphere on the market square on the terrace and stylish and quiet interior! A real recommendation & would love to come back.

Nice outdoor terrace on the piazza, you may have to wait a bit for a free table... but it's worth it. Conclusion: highly recommended

Unfortunately I was forgotten and had to wait a long time for my pizza

The restaurant has a beautiful, large outdoor terrace on the market square, 1a address. Many tourists and visitors are attracted. We were given 4 small dry slices of bread as a greeting, unfortunately the aioli or quark or mayonnaise was indefinably tasteless. The Diavola pizza was not spicy, without pepperoni and garlic with colored cheap olives, the tortellini were still very hard, otherwise OK. The waiters walk around stressed, but are reasonably friendly. Unfortunately on nice summer days there is a mass turnaround, but with a nice view.

Great and elegant restaurant right on the market square. Food plentiful and great 👍 Price/performance ratio absolutely fine. Service very friendly. I can only recommend it.

Met zijn tweeën ontbijt. 1 ontbijt al op en toe maar gevraagd of het andere ontbijt vergeten was. Dat was tegen het zere been, Nederlanders waren onrespectvol en i. Duitsland was het normaal om een half uur te wachten. Daarna in het Italiaans tegen collega's behoorlijk onbeschoft over ons praten ( kon het helaas voor hem verstaan)

We sat outside, the terrace is right in front of the house on the market square. Food and drinks very good, service OK but unfortunately understaffed. I asked for the bill 4 times and almost left without paying.

Well, location isn't everything... It's very nice, no question about it ☺️ But the service was very inattentive and cold... We didn't notice us for a while at the beginning, a half-full glass was snatched from the table, the wrong drinks were brought to the next table, no smile, no "I enjoyed it". We waited so long to pay that we thought our money wasn't wanted... We had carpaccio and pizza. The cheese on the carpaccio... Was it even Parmesan or Grana Padano? If so, then unfortunately not a good one. The same cheese on my Quatro Formaggio only tasted greasy, no particular cheese taste. The pizza vegetariana was OK. We've been going to this restaurant for years, but it's getting worse every time... Guess we need a new regular Italian. Quality and service decrease when there is no competition nearby.

Unfortunately I can only give 1 star because things were really catastrophic on the last Sunday when shopping was open. It started with the point that normal cola was sold out, although I would say OK, not bad at first, but then the prices were high, but not even close to the appropriate performance. For example, a really puny side dish In addition, it was extremely loud, which came from the guests again, but mostly from the kitchen, which was constantly banging on the bell and at the same time the cutlery was being thrown around Then a side dish didn't even come on time for the meal but when the main course was actually already finished. At the end you still had a slight stomach ache. Unfortunately I can't recommend it

Ambiance inside is nice, outside not so much. You wait and wait for the service. The pizza base was way too hard and thin. Could hardly be cut with a knife.

Seems to be the "IN" Italian in Xanten. It takes a relatively long time for the food to arrive, but it is consistently very good but also expensive. The cappuccino was rather weak... You know it better from the Italians...

Had lunch there on Sunday. Good service and the food was delicious! Good range of Italian dishes, both pizza and pasta are tasty. For dessert you can then get a delicious scoop of ice cream.

Hello, it can't be that at a table of 3 people with 2 pasta dishes and 1 pizza dish there is a time difference of 5 minutes, that has happened to me several times now. If that had happened to me during my culinary apprenticeship, I would have been able to leave. True, the food is delicious.

We sat outside and wanted to enjoy ice cream and drinks. At some point the waiter came and took the order for the drinks. Since we were still waiting for latecomers, the ice cream would not be ordered immediately. Unfortunately, from then on no waiter was interested in our table anymore. When we did draw attention to ourselves and expressed interest in the order, it was received in a more or less arrogant way. Unfortunately, we didn't feel really well looked after. All in one: food mediocre, ambience mediocre, service miserable (arrogance is not possible)...

Kindness is a foreign word. No greeting, no hello. The waiter comes to the table without even looking at us. We've lost our appetite. You don't have to do that to yourself. 10 meters away in another shop we were warmly welcomed and served well.

Delicious pizza, but very noisy. Service was also a bit cursory and impersonal. In the absence of anything better, this is certainly a great option.

The atmosphere in the middle of the market square in Xanten is very nice. The pizza was really delicious, my wife's salad was also good! Unfortunately I have to deduct stars because the staff acted very listless and stroppy.... We also had to wait an impressive 30 minutes and say something 3 times until we could finally pay.

The two of us ate outside and were initially happy to get a table as it was quite full given the good weather. First we each ordered an Aperol Spritz. There was more than half ice in the glass and the first sip tasted watered down, not a good start. The pasta we ordered was delivered so quickly that it couldn't have been cooked properly. I had pasta with shrimps. There were 3 shrimp that were still wrapped up, with no place to put the removed heads, antennae and legs it was pretty unappetizing. In addition, it simply didn't taste good at all and the shrimp smelled kind of musty. Nobody asked during the meal whether everything was OK and even when clearing away the waitress just called out unfriendly "Ready?" and then quickly took everything with him. Rarely have I had such a bad Italian meal. It's a shame because the location is so great.

Unfortunately it wasn't nearly as good as usual. Cola tasted stale, was exchanged, the pizza wasn't crispy and seafood unfortunately had no taste. Overall it seemed very mass instead of classy. It's a shame, I've always enjoyed eating there.

No matter how much is going on here. The employees are always friendly and nice. The food is always very tasty. Absolutely recommended.

Got a table in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately there was no air conditioning, it was stuffy and way too hot. The waiter wasn't exactly friendly and a bit annoyed.

Delicious pizzas eaten on the outdoor terrace.

We were there at around 3 p.m. with 4 people and had to eat at a small square table because 2 tables were not allowed to be pushed together. There were only a few tables occupied and the main lunch time was over.

Nothing vegan on the menu, so no food for me. My kids had a pizza and a bit of soup. Those where alright. Nothing special, but good enough. You can't sit down here if you only want a drink, you'll be told to take a seat at a neighbouring establishment.

Doesn't quite live up to its claim.

Last year we had a very tasty meal here and were completely satisfied. Today a large closed company had to be served at the same time and everyone was overwhelmed. The beer had no foam, the aioli was tasteless, the pizza bases on all the pizzas were tough as leather and the service was annoyed. Running a large company is certainly lucrative, but if it results in a pizzeria not serving good pizzas, it could backfire. Oh yes, the fact that you have to pay money to pack leftover food in a paper bag is awesome. Has it changed hands recently, or why was everything so much better last year?

A great Italian restaurant in the city center of Xanten. The food is good and the price-performance ratio is good. The pizza has a thin base which suits my taste. The portions are also good. The interior is nicely decorated, outside you sit directly on the market square. I can only recommend the restaurant with an attached ice cream parlor. Unfortunately there is no longer a covered terrace. Good as always, unfortunately not as spicy as hoped, but how can you please everyone?

Chaotic service as it was very busy. Sometimes the wrong tables were served. You had to be careful yourself.

The food was delicious, the service was an absolute disaster. Even if it was a shopping Sunday and therefore very busy, such a service is not justifiable. Several tables complained. I've never experienced anything like that.

Even though there was a lot going on the day we were there with a whole group, everything was made possible so that we could sit together. The service was very attentive, friendly and quick. Food very tasty, simply recommended.

The staff is Italian and kind except for one of the staff behind the counter who asked her about the cakes if it is with alcohol or not he tells us that it is "ohne Alkohol" and well that's not true. teramisu and the black cake was with alcohol...I thank the waiter for informing us that the two cakes were with alcohol....apart from that everything is OK, banana waffel and the strawberry crepe was good

We were there last night. We sat outside and a very friendly Romanian waiter brought us a wool blanket upon request. The food was really bad. I ordered a salad with yogurt dressing. I have rarely had such a bad salad with a ready-made bottled dressing in a restaurant. My girlfriend had a tomato soup and pasta and both were ready-made. When the plates were cleared, none of the waitresses even asked if it was tasty, even though half of it was still on the plates. You weren't even asked if you wanted something else to drink. This Italian restaurant doesn't get a star because it can't be recommended under any circumstances.

Super nice restaurant. The atmosphere is very cozy. The staff was super friendly, although there was a lot to do, you didn't notice it. Food very tasty 🤤 Price performance is also right. Always my pleasure.

The taste was always good...however, my food came 12 minutes later and so of course my companion had almost eaten it. Very uncomfortable. Not even a little attention or apology was shown. I wouldn't have expected that with such unfriendly staff. The food and ambience were great but the staff were short and fake friendly

Unfortunately, this time is incomparable to the last time. Pizza alla Diavolo with peppers from a jar (hence sour), a lot of oil on the pizza, salmon with a wilted side salad and no good taste. Unacceptable: Pizza didn't arrive until 5 minutes after my wife's salmon.

Italian restaurant located in the middle of the beautiful market square: outside you can enjoy the wonderful old town atmosphere, inside the Italian ambience. Unfortunately the edges of our pizzas were a bit burnt and therefore inedible. But the rest was okay. Very attentive service.

Preferred location, attentive service, largely authentic cuisine and just about reasonable prices. Small drawbacks for using smoked bacon instead of guanciale on the carbonara, but that would probably drive the price up even further. PLV for the location but really OK.

Never even got to the part of ordering something. The staff was so rude and impolite. Had to leave because they barely could even speak properly enough (in German ofc) a whole sentence to tell us something. Just awful service and experience at every visit.

Children apparently unwanted! Last week we wanted to go out to eat again with our children in the Teatro restaurant. Because of the good cuisine, we have enjoyed staying there so far. Since our daughter is a school child and is currently not considered tested - due to the holidays - we all took an official rapid Corona test beforehand. However, your staff refused us entry because our 7-year-old daughter does not have an ID card. The staff referred to the boss and that you had to stick to his rules, even if it wasn't actually justified. The staff was visibly uncomfortable and the boss didn't want to talk to us. In Germany, children aged 16 and over must have an identity card. Until then, it is possible to apply for child ID cards, but these are not mandatory. A passport is also not required within the country's borders. I think it's outrageous to knowingly demand documents that you don't have to have. If children are not welcome in your restaurant, please write this directly on your door. Rejecting families like this is an absolute disgrace! After a long discussion, another family took the pizza with them and ate it outside on the bench. You can be completely sure that we will never set foot in your restaurant again and will not leave a cent of money there. We will no longer recommend the restaurant in any way. Life during the pandemic is difficult and challenging for all of us. And it is particularly difficult for the children in our society. Denying children access to social life with such a silly excuse is absolutely cheeky and a bottomless impudence! Luckily, we were warmly welcomed at another restaurant with our test certificates and vaccination cards.

I consciously only rate the food and that is simply great and absolutely recommended. If you want a smile or small talk, you have to go somewhere else.

Very cozy Italian restaurant and the food, pizza, anti pasti, steak... with aioli and bread as an appetizer was really delicious. Highly recommended... if you're looking for something to complain about, it might be that the knives are a bit dull for the excellent pizza. Gladly again!

I had a lovely afternoon with nice weather and friendly service.

We went here one time. Great service the people were very nice also at our child. Second time today we want to drink some beers here at 16:00 (so not yet diner time). We were send away! Because the restaurant was only for food. Otherwise you need to go to the icecream part? First of how am i too know?? Were is the sign?? Second of why dont bring this more nice? Maybe walk over to see were is a table. Also the guy couldnt speak good english so we sidnt understand we were "send away". So the guy just keep looking mad at us making us feel extremely uncomfortable. We go to the church every week. We like to drink and sometimes eat at this place. Never again! Lost costumers for life. Lets hope you lose more business since you dont respect you costumers. Shame on you

Even though it was quite busy that day, we got a table fairly quickly. After ordering, things went very quickly. The food was very tasty and the quantities were also very filling. Overall, recommendable. The price was a bit too high for me... But everyone can decide for themselves... But I would like to come back again...

We ended up at the Teatro by chance and were very happy about it. Everything was just right. It was so good that we ate there again the next day (Saturday and Sunday).

The food was very good. The pizzas are nice and big and the base is fluffy. The service could have been a bit friendlier, but was probably annoyed since it was so busy. But you should still remain friendly. The ice cream (they also have an ice cream parlor) is always very tasty.

Pizza (we had spinach mut shrimp) was very tasty. Thin base and nice and crispy edges too!

There are two of you, you order and receive your food separately. Cutlery for the eggs, a pastry fork and butter knife, no cutlery for the toast. Well, you can eat lettuce with your hands. And the lettuce was old too! The eggs and toast were both very lukewarm. Glasses smelled like eggs Not recommended!!!

Yesterday we were at the Teatro in Xanten on Father's Day and I can well understand that the waiters and cooks were very stressed, because the market square was very full and when a table became empty, new guests arrived immediately. But: when serving, they basically dumped a pizza on me and the pasta I ordered was completely unseasoned. Even with the parmesan cheese provided, it wasn't possible to add any flavor to it, as the cream sauce only tasted like cream. The waitress' oversight can happen, but they could have at least apologized with a discount or some attention. I had to wait a long time at the toilets to clean myself, because this restaurant for 80-100 guests only has one women's toilet. Then my food was cold.

We were here on a great sunny day and it was correspondingly full outside. Luckily we got a free table straight away. The outdoor area borders a square surrounded by restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlors and a stage. There are also parasols. The service came quickly with the menus and the typical starter “bread with aioli”. There is a wide selection in the menu. Our choice fell on pasta with salmon in tomato sauce and pasta in a Champion cream sauce. Both tasted really great and the prices weren't overpriced. Before we left I wanted to use the toilet and I was completely surprised at how beautiful and large the interior is. The toilets were also pleasant. The outdoor area is barrier-free.

Good Italian food, upscale category, friendly service, 1 star deducted because there is only 1 women's toilet and 1 men's toilet! That's not good for a large restaurant!

Unfortunately, the conditions become more and more unfriendly from time to time, which unfortunately makes you feel very unwelcome.
