Ristorante San Marino in Berlin

I'm often in Berlin for work. Every time I'm there, I go to San Marino at Prager Platz. What can I say? The service is incredibly warm and welcoming. You can really feel the Italian atmosphere in this restaurant. I've always been greeted very politely. The food is fantastic. They even accommodated special requests. So much heart combined with such great food is amazing. I keep coming back. I'm from Switzerland and I haven't found a better Italian restaurant here. Highly recommended.

A total shame!! They demand you pay in cash, even though there is clearly a Dankort terminal. The price also doesn't match what is on the menu, but the receipt doesn't exist. Not recommended at all!!

I've lived and worked in this neighborhood with my family for quite some time. The restaurant is located in the Prager Passage, which we frequent. The atmosphere is casual—not fine dining, but fitting for the surroundings. However, the service was decidedly unprofessional. I was in a hurry and wanted to grab a quick bite to go. I chose it precisely because I'm very particular about cleanliness and the restaurant seemed well-maintained, after having just finished some errands at the mall. When I politely asked if they offered fries to go, I received only the reply: "No, go to the kebab shop." The waiter then left without a word. Such a tone is neither appropriate nor acceptable—regardless of the restaurant's concept. My question was perfectly legitimate and standard practice in the restaurant industry. Because of this experience, we will not be returning to this restaurant with our family. Since my husband – a long-time restaurateur – and I have been well-connected in the neighborhood for years, both professionally and privately, and our recommendations serve as a guide for many, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant after this experience.

It is and always will be our favorite restaurant. My friends sometimes say, "You guys always go to San Marino!" Yes, it's true!!! At San Marino, I can get: - various salads - various pizzas - various pasta dishes - various types of fish/scampi, etc. - Wiener Schnitzel (with excellent fried potatoes) - various cuts of meat (rump steak, beef tenderloin, lamb shank, etc.) Want a different side dish with your meal? No problem at San Marino!!! Plus, they have excellent wines, beers, spirits, and soft drinks… With such a diverse and excellent selection, I don't need to go to different restaurants, and I don't need to think about what I'm in the mood for beforehand to choose the right restaurant… I just go to San Marino… and decide what to eat when I get there…

We ate a bland, indefinable lasagna. The salad was delicious. So was the bruschetta on the house. The service was very friendly. Unfortunately, we realized too late that the bill couldn't be right. The waiter begged us to pay in cash. They apparently added the grappa, which was on the house, to the price. There was no bill.

Every two years, I'm in Berlin, near the San Marino. Whenever I'm there, I'm not recognized, but I'm welcomed like a regular. The food is really good, and the San Marino has become a regular stop on my arrival day and also for our company to spend the evenings there. A big thank you for this wonderful atmosphere and the friendly service.

Spaghetti Carbonara was just a creamy sauce and bland. Card payments only accepted for amounts over 25 euros! Where do you find that these days!?!? Especially in a restaurant. And in the end, the card terminal didn't even work – supposedly! Of course, there was no receipt (best regards, tax office).

We are three sisters, two with walkers and one in a wheelchair. As a wheelchair user, I can't get into the elevator with my aid to visit my oldest sister (91). We meet occasionally at the San Marino. We are happy and grateful for this opportunity. We feel very comfortable at the restaurant. Thank you very much.

An absolute highlight! This Italian restaurant brings true dolce vita to your home. The pizza is perfect: a thin, crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and an aroma that immediately reminds you of Naples. The staff was very friendly, but unfortunately the salad was missing feta, and one of the two pizzas was topped with salami instead of vegetarian – very annoying! Also, as has been repeatedly criticized in reviews, you don't get a bill, so you can't understand the prices – this should be changed.

The food was delicious and well-prepared. What I found particularly disappointing, however, was that you don't get a proper bill. Instead, you're constantly offered overpriced add-ons that, unfortunately, aren't up to the mark. The waiter calculated the prices right at the table using a calculator – and it seemed rather arbitrary. It's a shame… If they were honest and transparent, I'd come more often – after all, I live nearby.

Lovely Italian restaurant. You can sit outside or inside. The restaurant is located right on Prager Platz. The wait time for the food is reasonable. We've never eaten such good pizza as we did there. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We're already looking forward to this restaurant on our next visit to Berlin.

Very business-minded. Every guest is practically forced to have a glass of wine straight away. You have to wait what feels like an eternity for the drinks, long after you've already had your food. The last time we ordered a drink, we asked for the bill after waiting 15 minutes. The reason given for not serving the ordered wine was that it wasn't the waiter's fault that he forgot to take our order. We paid in cash, the total was written down on a slip of paper. This slip was not handed over; it quickly disappeared into the waiter's pocket. Perhaps someone should give the tax office a tip.

Restaurant San Marino – An Insult to Italian Cuisine Pizza Margherita, like it came from a freezer – tasteless and unloved. The "substitute" pasta (aglio e olio) was only edible because I was half-starving. When I was paying, the waiter seriously asked if he could add a tip because he was only charging for one dish. Thank you, how generous... Anyone who loves Italian food should definitely avoid this place. If you're a regular here, I recommend a trip through Rome, Pescara, and Palermo. Never again...!

From the exceptionally friendly, attentive and courteous owner to the truly fresh and varied salad and the excellent pizza with shrimp to the grappa, this is an unreserved recommendation for all lovers of traditional Italian cuisine.

Too smart waiter. Keeps pushing another bad bottle of red wine on you, instead of the house wine which couldn't possibly be any worse. Very insistent. Prefers to take cash, then stays on card he keeps demanding tips. Lots of locals who are probably treated well, but not a place for tourists. Italian at its worst.

For us, San Marino with Daniele is part of every visit to Berlin. Great food with great service. We always make sure you are welcome.

Was our first port of call on the day of arrival in Berlin. Great perfect beef fillet and sea bream fillet. Very nice waiter and a boss with a lot of passion.

Great food, great service, great outdoor ambience on Prager Platz. There is absolutely not the slightest thing wrong with the food. Even in Italy you can hardly find a more Italian food. The Vitello tonnato was tender with a tasty caper sauce, the aromatic buffalo mozzarella on a ripe tonnato, my pizza with real Gorgonzola - simply perfect. The waiter looked after us with passion and full commitment, a man who loves his job. And the flair of Prager Platz rounds off a successful evening.

Service = sales The bill was presented with a lot of pressure. What is advertised as a "glass" of wine ends up being a bottle on the bill. €39 for two glasses of wine and €12 for grappa (which he supposedly opened exclusively for me). Food was ok - nothing more. Such a real tourist joke! We waited 20 minutes for the drinks, but the main course came during the starter. A bad experience!

Scammy place! I ordered the small ginger ale with my dish, but instead they brought a big size drink, which costs twice as much , without asking. When I requested for a detailed bill they even refused to provide it, I only noticed their deceit because the final bill was higher than I expected. They still insisted on charging the full price at the end! Food was ok, at least eatable but not terrible.

€155 for four people. It's doable, but the food should have been better. Adequate, no doubt, but the flavor was rather bland. It was worth a visit once, but I won't be going back.

According to the gentleman, we could not and were not allowed to pay separately... I then paid for everyone with a card and wanted to give a little tip. He just said, annoyed, that he had already entered the amount and couldn't undo it. So I paid the exact amount. He then reacted annoyed and called after us a bit aggressively... Others in the reviews reported incorrect invoices, but everything worked out for us. We cannot recommend this restaurant. Terrible and unpleasant visit.

The waiter was very tasty, but the food was quite poor or too spicy - there were three of us. Pizza dough is not cooked through and the taste is completely weak. Appetizer plate for three consisted of 3 components - carpaccio, tomato mozarella and vitello tonnato.

Food: Bruschetta and Pizza Tonno, with 2 KönigLudwig light. Conclusion: really doesn't work! Bruschetta is unroasted, old, dry white bread without any herbs, but with wilted ruccola as a garnish. Not worthy of an Italian house!!! After the complaint, work was carried out. Beers were warm and stale. Pizza was okay! Ambiance is great as Prager Platz is traffic-calmed. Unfortunately, there was no mention of the inexpensive lunch. At least we got a limoncello on the house, but we still won't be back!

This was the second time I've eaten at this restaurant and it couldn't have been more different. The first time I came here with my partner was on Thursday evening. It was dark and rainy outside, so there was very little going on. The staff was very friendly. An older man who entertained the guests with his friendly and open manner and made you feel really comfortable. The portions (a salami pizza & spagetti Bolognese) were surprisingly large and we were offered schnapps on the house. We politely declined and still got something in the end - two small lollies. It has to be said that we sat and talked long after we had finished eating. Very friendly staff, very nice atmosphere and delicious food. On our second visit there was a second "waiter", also an older man. He was far less relaxed and probably placed a lot of emphasis on efficiency. We hadn't even bought our tickets and were still thinking about it when he wanted to take our order. In order to bridge the (admittedly quite short) waiting time, we were each brought a piece of spreadable baguette. My partner had already finished eating and it took me a little longer because his plate was already taken away and the cutlery was brought. It just seemed too “hectic” for me. The portions were a little smaller (spaghetti Bolognese for both of us), but we were still full. After dinner we wanted to chat, but less than five minutes later we were asked: "What about you? Do you want numbers?" The waiter reacted angrily to the fact that we could only pay with a card. When paying then the sentence: "That's the bill, please add a tip, 41?" That took it a bit too far. Accordingly, you have to be lucky with the staff here.

We were warmly welcomed by Alessandro (I hope I spelled it correctly) and immediately felt at home. He suddenly brought my daughter a non-alcoholic cocktail. It was unbelievable how nice everyone there was. We just wanted to have a drink there and reserved a table for a day later. When we are in Berlin again we will come back. In the evening after 9 p.m. we were looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. The pizzeria was just a few steps away from our hotel so we tried it there. We were warmly welcomed. The service was extremely courteous and friendly. The food tasted very good and it was comfortable to sit together there on a summer evening. We'll take a look again.

Good food & portion sizes. Service was a little slow due to being busy. We sat outside in summer and it was pleasant. Alberto was cheeky and Emo was our waiter who is helpful and made it easy for us despite the language barrier. We had the Buffalo mozzarella, rosemary foccacia, spaghetti scampi, spaghetti pollo and penne matriciana with a few drinks. Yummy & fresh.

Absolutely nice service, like to joke and show passion for what they do. The food is also totally bomb. The carpaccio is highly recommended, even if you would like bread with it. I'd love to come back more often when I'm in the area. The parking spaces are not particularly plentiful, but you can still find one after a bit of searching. And the food is definitely worth the search.

We stayed in the hotel next door and needed a meal quite late at night and this place was still open. It is a huge restaurant with plenty of outdoor seats. As it was late we wanted a lighter meal so we had tagliatelle - I had beef in a spicy sauce, my wife had salmon. The portion was generous with plenty of beef and salmon. We had bitter lemon to drink and coffee to follow. The pasta was very nice. We hope to come back here.

Yesterday I had dinner in San Marino with a group of 25 people and were completely exploited like never before in Berlin! An attempt was made to only offer the most expensive of the most expensive (without a map). Wine bottle price of €60 (!!!), although the menu only listed wines up to around €30. In the end we were offered a digestif at the expense of the house, but in the end we were charged for it! To top it off, we were forced to pay tips. So, good advice, give the restaurant a wide berth. If not, make the prices clear from the start, otherwise there will be nasty surprises!!!!!

The food is mediocre and the waiter cheated with the red wine order. We ordered a glass of red wine and two beers and he filled the glass whenever he could see it. When the bill came, he charged €49 for the whole bottle of wine, and the most expensive wine on the list is €30 a liter. And the waiter tried to charge for four beers, of course he refunded this.
