Ristorante Pizzeria Salvatore in Oberhausen

We popped in spontaneously, as it looked like a nice and pleasant Italian restaurant from the outside. But we were sorely disappointed. Hot water with cheese and onion was served as onion soup. A baguette with a crispy edge suddenly became bruschetta. And the pizza could have easily come from a Dr. Oetker box. The pasta with salmon and cannelloni were only passable. A shame.

I've known and appreciated Pizzeria Salvatore for many years. There have been ups and downs—for whatever reason! I have the impression that the team in the center of Oberhausen, one of the oldest Italian restaurants in the region, is constantly reinventing itself and presenting itself in a contemporary and modern way. The changing menu is tailored to the seasons and accordingly affordable. Addendum: Good advice for management. It's well known that large numbers of guests are expected on special days (weekends and Mother's Day, for example). Why can't the regular staff be supported to ensure that all guests at a table receive their ordered food at the same time? It's not acceptable to eat alone when dining as a couple.

Attentive service. Food unacceptable. Bruschetta with scattered herbs instead of arugula and dry, not crispy bread (probably pre-prepared, as it arrived about 5 minutes after ordering). The salad was iceberg lettuce with far too much balsamic vinegar and very little oil. The main course tasted okay, but the prawns were unpeeled and had the veins in. I just wanted to pay… but then the owner came over? And I had to explain myself… She couldn't take criticism well. The chef (owner?) also came over, and her ability to take criticism was even worse… she tried to make me out to be a liar… Conclusion: 0% chance of returning.

I would give the service even more stars if I could! I accidentally ordered the wrong salad over the weekend and immediately received a new one without having to ask (after all, it was my mistake). The entire staff is very attentive. My two friends' meals were also delicious. We will gladly return the next time we are in Oberhausen. Thank you!

We wanted to try this restaurant today, so we went there. Unfortunately, we were very dissatisfied with our visit overall. 1. The service was noticeably slow – both when taking our order and when handing us the menu. 2. We ordered two pizzas and a bottle of water. However, we weren't asked whether we wanted still or sparkling water. Instead, we automatically received sparkling water. When I asked to exchange it for still water, the waiter was rather unfriendly. The bottled water that was subsequently brought to us also had a broken seal, which led us to believe it might have been bottled from the tap. 3. The pizzas (numbers 43 and 46 on the menu) were both unusually small, the dough looked frozen solid, and was burnt in several places on the bottom. Pizza number 46, in particular, was also extremely salty. For transparency, I am also uploading the invoice so that this comment is not deleted as unfounded.

Everyone is very friendly, and the place is welcoming and pleasant. The cuisine, however, is contaminated to appeal to the locals. The pizza in particular is nothing like Italian pizza—it's terrible—but apparently the locals like it that way... De bustibus.

For decades, this restaurant has been a safe bet for us when it comes to pizzas. Yesterday, things were different. It's painful that the prices have gone up, but I can still understand it. What disappointed me most was the change in the quality of the pizza base. It seemed to me to have a rather doughy consistency, and therefore didn't taste good. The waitress had trouble taking our drink order correctly (for two people, two different drinks). The refills weren't quite accurate either. We observed a similar situation at the neighboring table. You should always give a second chance, but this time it really wasn't good. Is it due to the new staff? Just a guess.

We visited the pizzeria with several people. The service was quite attentive, took our order, and then returned after a while to ask again what we had ordered...🫣 However, the dishes served were correct 😉 Our drink orders were initially fulfilled quite attentively, but later on, less so. It must also be said that the pizzeria was quite busy. My wine was missing... The pizzas are quite small, and if you want a little more Parmesan with the pasta dish, you have to pay an extra €1.50...🤔 The meat dish was quite bland in flavor and contained a lot of potatoes and few vegetables (a few pieces of peppers and onions). My wine was served when I had almost finished my meal. The manager came to our table personally, and offered us her olive oil. We weren't asked if we'd like another coffee or dessert; we just paid.

Delicious pizzas and pasta at reasonable prices in a cozy atmosphere. We've never tasted better Parmesan cheese before. We definitely recommend a visit to a "real" Italian restaurant like this one.

The food is rather average and falls far short of the expectations created by the website and its content. The pasta dishes felt like frozen goods. The sauce for the pasta was very watery and didn't have a good consistency. However, if you're feeling a little peckish, you can still treat yourself to a pizza there.

We've eaten at far better Italian restaurants. See for yourself. We won't be eating here again. It's a shame we were full of hope.

My first visit to this pizzeria was based on recommendations. First, the good stuff, and there are plenty. The restaurant looks great, the decor is outstanding. The service is also great. Polite, friendly, and accommodating. Special requests were accommodated—albeit on the second attempt, but that's okay, we're all only human. This restaurant deserves 5 out of 5 stars for the staff alone. The food was also very tasty. But for those prices, I get larger pizzas at other pizzerias. Desserts are included. For that amount, I expected more. As delicious as it was, that's why I can only give it 4 stars, even though 4.5 would be more appropriate. It was simply too small/too little for the money.

The portions are definitely too small for the price. The prices are not justified for the portions. I ordered peeled prawns from the daily special, and there were only 5 prawns without any side dish. Definitely not justified for almost 25 euros. I received bread upon request. We spent 120 euros for two people, for an appetizer and main course. Despite such a high sum, we didn't get a nightcap or espresso at the end... The restaurant looks authentic. The service is also okay, but could be friendlier. We won't be visiting the restaurant again.

We went there for the first time with friends. We received a very warm welcome and felt very welcome. Our requests were immediately catered to, and the food was fantastic. For dessert, I wouldn't order the tiramisu again because it was a bit watery – but the panna cotta was excellent! The Aperol was well mixed and the glass was almost full to the brim. We will definitely be back 👍🏼 The decor is rustic and not modern, but really cozy.

We were staying in a hotel nearby and were looking for an Italian restaurant. We went without a reservation and were immediately given a table for 2. Super tasty food! We had a Bruchette as a starter and got the famous fried bread rolls with garlic butter. We ordered a pizza quattro formaggi and a spaghetti bolognese. It was more than enough, we had no room for dessert. This restaurant is highly recommended! We will definitely come and eat again when we are in Oberhausen!

Yesterday, on Easter Monday, we got a large table for 9 people in the Salvatore restaurant. We were able to talk undisturbed and laugh loudly and still didn't bother anyone there. The welcome at the entrance was very warm. The food was excellent and the service was very good. We were served very quickly. A waiter kept coming and checking to see if everything was OK. The prices are very good for the service provided. It wasn't the last time we were there. I can recommend this beautiful and spacious restaurant with a clear conscience.

Quite neat, for the first time in 40 years. Rosetta is just as friendly and nice as it was back then, the service is competent and attentive. But when it comes to cooking, you can't come close to Rosi and Francesco (Elba)! However, yesterday the pizza was absolutely great!

The food was seasoned very sparingly, and the shrimp had to be unraveled in the middle of the sauce... I don't think it's highly recommended! I asked the waiter about it, but unfortunately I received a pretty indifferent or no answer at all.

I was in this pizzeria again after a long time and found the food excellent again, although the portions have become significantly smaller. The menu is very diverse with many sophisticated dishes. Unfortunately I have to deduct a point for the staff. It was completely mixed up and somehow they mixed things up, didn't understand them and wanted to cash in twice. Or maybe they were just having a bad day. Otherwise highly recommended.

I haven't been there for a while. Which I already regret. It was a successful evening. There were two of us at 6pm before October 3rd. Had water and wine white and rose each as a carafe. We had dishes from the seasonal menu. Pasta with salsicchia porcini mushrooms and pasta with prawns and monkfish. Perfect meal. Nice and attentive service. Here the boss also checks that everything is going well.

An absolute veteran and by far the best Italian restaurant in the city! The pizzas are terrific, the pasta is super delicious (a little Germanized and with lots of cream), the staff is amazing and the boss is always on site and so welcoming that you'll want to move in. 5 stars are actually not enough. Today we were with 5 people in what is supposed to be the best pizzeria in Oberhausen. Once and never again. We sat at the table for almost an hour and none of the service staff even asked if we would like something to drink or whether we had placed an order. I had to go to the counter and ask if we could order something. After we finally got something to drink, the game continued with the food order. That again took forever. After we ordered everything, we sat there for another hour and nothing happened at all. Nobody even asked if we wanted something more to drink. I then went back to the counter and told them that if there wasn't any food in fifteen minutes, we'd go. Afterwards the food came immediately, but it was a disaster. A pizza was delivered incorrectly, it was pointed out and we were told, oh, it's not a big deal. The pasta dishes were cold and the pasta and tortellini were hard. So overall we cannot recommend this restaurant and we will never go there again. The whole evening was a disaster

Food OK but not outstanding, service leaves a lot to be desired. We were there with 5 adults and 4 children (Saturday evening 19oo, we had reserved. Unfortunately, even for a Saturday evening, everything took forever, drinks were only taken after 35/40 minutes and only arrived when we had already been sitting at the table for an hour. We were asked three times whether drinks had already been taken (which we said no), but the colleagues who were supposed to come never came and in the end someone else took our drinks order. Children's meals were specially ordered with the request that they be received as early as possible, as the children were now really exhausted and becoming impatient (pasta without everything arrived (about 30 minutes after ordering), but children's pizza did not and only after the adults' food had been brought and there was also renewed demand. There were counted pizza rolls (free to the house, but the smaller children would not be counted) In the adult menu, a pizza was also delivered incorrectly. (We ordered 2 pizzas, 1 pasta dish, 1x salad + children, 2x pasta without sauce and 1x children's pizza salami). We didn't ask for any further drinks or requests; the second round of drinks only came after we were asked several times that we would like to order something more to drink. We got the food about 1:30 1:45 minutes after we sat down at our table and the adult dishes were not delivered at the same time. The food was OK but not great either. Our pizza delivery service around the corner delivers similar quality pizzas and salads. Only the pasta dish stood out (gambas) Unfortunately, the payment process took forever, so we ended up going to the checkout ourselves to pay because no one else came to collect. But the prices for pizzas are completely ok. Drinks, however, at €6 for a large cola or €7 for a 0.75 liter bottle of water, are above the average prices at, for example, the CentrO Promenade or Duisburg's inner harbor. Maybe I just had a bad evening but I don't want to try it again at the moment

This restaurant has an extensive menu, we had a nice dinner for a really good price. Only small downsides were that we had to wait some time before we got a waiter at our table (they were very friendly and helpful though) and that our antipasto starter was more vegatables than the typical Italian meat that I am used to. The pizza was very tasty again, the atmosphere was like decades ago, but very well attended. There is parking on the other side of the street... it says private in red on the ground, but there are parking spaces for the pizzeria with signs on the right.

We started eating pizza here 49 years ago. It's always nice to come back here. The pizza is still the tastiest and the atmosphere is cozy and the staff is nice, Italian and has been there for a long time. It's always special for us to eat there since we don't live nearby anymore.
