Ristorante "Mamma Mia" in Dresden

The restaurant is beautifully designed and by 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday it was almost fully booked, which is a good sign. The staff are very polite and professional, apart from one young man who is either untrained or listless and who sees empty glasses on the small tables but doesn't take them away. So we had to put the empty glasses on the next table when the next drink and starter arrived. This could be improved, please; you feel overlooked. Everyone else is very accommodating and registers our every request without us having to say it. The food: first a greeting from the kitchen, olive oil and olive bread for dipping, both very tasty. The oil is not bitter and intense, very good. The green olives as a starter were the best I have ever eaten. Firm to the bite and unique in flavor. Not slimy ones from a can, but felt freshly picked - if that were even possible in Dresden. High praise. The main courses were exquisite. You can taste the freshly prepared pasta dough, and the fresh tomato sauce is unmistakable. Nothing from a jar or can! The prices are just about reasonable, or slightly higher, for what's on offer: two people, two main courses (pasta without meat), but completely freshly prepared, a shared appetizer, and three drinks (no wine) total about €70. The tables are a bit small, as described, but still acceptable. We would go back if we didn't have to drive 600 km :) We highly recommend the restaurant and I would make reservations through the website. Otherwise, it's a matter of luck...

The restaurant is thoughtfully designed and superbly executed. The main courses consist exclusively of homemade pasta in various variations. The service is fast and extremely attentive. Oh yes, and of course, the food is really delicious. We felt very comfortable here. Unfortunately, we're only visiting Dresden; otherwise, we'd have a new regular Italian restaurant.

The service is SOOOOO bad. Typing this up as we sit here. We had a 8:15 reservation and it’s now 10:00 and we’re still without food. Even though we had a reservation, we were only seated 40 mins after our reservation. Because of this we made sure to order immediately. And yet, 1 hour and 20 mins later we’re still waiting for food. Their reservation system doesn’t work; they don’t honor the times. And food orders don’t go in sequentially. We saw several tables seated after us getting food (some even paying and leaving). Fix your service! I don’t care how good your food is, you can’t rely just on that and serve people 2 hours later. UPDATE: Food arrived 2 hours late and the pasta was not cooked. The noodles were literally stuck together. It may have been fresh, but 7 layers of pappardelle shouldn’t be stuck together. See photo.

Conclusion: Broken and unpolished glasses, okay taste, inattentive service – we wonder where so many good reviews come from? We were invited to Mamma Mia as guests and were excited about the high ratings, especially because making a reservation wasn't easy. We waited 25 minutes for our orders and drinks. Then we had to ask for broken and dirty glasses to be replaced. That's unacceptable. The pasta portions were OK, with very good costing for the restaurant. The vitello tonato was rather bland in taste. We had to ask for more bread several times. The drinks selection needs a lot of improvement. Dear Mamma Mia team, you're currently running a good promotion, but there's a lot to improve. Good luck!

The homemade noodles were very, very tasty. The staff was extremely friendly. The atmosphere itself is very good.

The food was mediocre. I had the Spaghetti Mare Nero... it was great, but the service was unfortunately very overwhelmed. They couldn't keep up with all the guests, and we had to wait a long time for a menu. It's a shame; I've only heard good things about this place. Unfortunately, for the price, it's a disappointment.

A perfect Italian restaurant with a difference. Not your typical run-of-the-mill Italian restaurant with pizza, pasta, and Lambrusco. Handmade pasta (you can even watch it being made) is served in exceptional creations in a lovely, cozy atmosphere. The waiters' dress code is also unusual. All in all, not mainstream, but very, very busy; reservations are recommended during peak times and on weekends.

When choosing a restaurant for an evening meal, we were guided by the reviews. There was a crowd of guests inside. We managed to get a table. The service was nice. Italian flair - waiters trying to speak Italian. We chose salmon de luxe. Unfortunately, the name was not accurate. grilled small piece of salmon (quite ok). placed on large, flat, very overcooked dumplings. In subjective opinion, the place is aimed at a one-time guest who will never return. Where does the 4.7 rating come from, I don't know?

My dish was delicious. All the dishes arrived at the table incredibly quickly and practically at the same time – fantastic! The prices are a bit high, though, and some of the other dishes could have been a bit more seasoned.

Friendly, approachable service, competent advice, a menu and wine list with everything Italy has to offer, and truly authentic cuisine and preparation. The atmosphere truly transports you to Italy, and the prices are right. I'd happily return again. Pick up some homemade pasta at the end to extend the experience!

The food is delicious, especially the tiramisu, which is highly recommended. Unfortunately, the wait times are very, very long. We waited 30 minutes just for the menu and another hour for the food. One appetizer was even cold.

We chose Mamma Mia because of the exclusively positive reviews, but in my opinion, the restaurant can't compete with them... The location is very central, and the outdoor seating is very nice, but it was very crowded and the interior is less pleasant. The service was very friendly and immediately arranged for a table change, as we were given a table upstairs, which was very stuffy and dark. However, we weren't at all impressed with the food... Some of it was unseasoned, the homemade pasta stuck together and tasted of nothing, and the prices were unfortunately relatively high. We wondered why the waiters brought desserts with sparklers to the tables every 20 minutes, "Happy Birthday" was played throughout the restaurant, and the lights went out every time... Later, we noticed a sign on our table saying that for a good review, you would receive a gift from the local. I can only conclude that the almost exclusively positive reviews must be partly due to this. For us, by the fourth time, it was just annoying and somewhat ruined the atmosphere. For those who enjoy this kind of fun, this is the place to be, but there are far better Italian restaurants here in Dresden, both in terms of food and value for money.

We went there for lunch today and ordered two truly outstanding vegetarian pasta dishes, which arrived immediately. We didn't even wait 10 minutes. One of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to, and one of the best pastas I've ever eaten. We'll be back!

Even though we arrived 20 minutes early, a table was available for us. The olive bread with olive oil was fantastic. The lasagna sauce was just right; you don't get it every day. The Gorgonzola sauce from my Radiatori was very good, although a bit too mild for my taste. The service was very friendly and competent, rounding off a successful dinner. Thank you very much!

Mamma Mia only once and never again. Customer empathy was unfortunately lacking: tables outside were far too close together. The two of us were moved from a table for four to a table for two, even though we were the only guests inside. The question of whether everything was okay while the customer was chewing was easily forgotten. The restroom is only accessible via a long flight of stairs. You practically need a magnifying glass to read the menu. The porcini mushroom paste still bothered me hours after our visit. Conclusion: Only for hungry walk-ins, not for real Dresden locals!

We ate there on May 18th. I had reserved a table in advance. Unfortunately, it was a bit late, and I tried calling three times to let them know, but no one answered the phone. When we arrived, the waitress's first response was, "You're late." Thank you for the "friendly" greeting! Honestly, we lost our appetite at that moment. When I pointed out that I'd tried to reach them three times by phone, they laughed and said, "Oh, we're too lazy to answer the phone today." Okay, apparently they don't need to anymore and can afford it! We got our seats and ordered. After a short while, we were informed that the appetizer, vitello tonnato (our real highlight at Mamma Mia), was unfortunately out of stock. That was just the beginning of an already ruined evening! With such a limited menu, there should be plenty of everything. We've eaten there several times and were always very satisfied, but this time we were unfortunately very disappointed! Just because the restaurant is always very busy doesn't mean it should rest on its laurels! What a shame...

The tables and chairs outside are very close together, making it almost impossible to find a seat. We went inside and asked if we could choose our seating, which we were told was. The table we wanted was apparently reserved, even though everything around it was free. During the entire time, no one came to claim it. Pasta is eaten with a knife and fork in this restaurant – rather unusual in Italy… the staff's Italian sounded very artificial and rehearsed. After our meal, we were asked if we would like an espresso or a panna cotta – even though espresso is included in the menu anyway.

Not bad, but a lot of it is intentional, but not quite as skillful. The mascarpone dessert is pure mascarpone, heavy fare. The lighting is too dark and diffuse in some places.
