Ristorante Il Cavallo in Chieming

Today, several of us were there for an event. Unfortunately, we were ignored by the staff behind the counter for 20 minutes while we stood at the counter, not even looked at or greeted, before we could place an order. When we asked after 10 minutes who we could place an order with, we were told to go to the back of the line. That's where we were, because no one had been in front of us, and instead of serving us, they continued to stack freshly washed glasses or served and paid other guests who had come to the counter in the meantime. Thanks to the clock next to the kitchen door, we knew how long we'd been waiting without having to look at our own watches. A gentleman behind us had specifically asked the waiter about a food order because the kitchen was about to close and was also sent to the line behind us. Even the employee at the pizza oven was told to finish, clean up, etc., before even looking at us. By the time it was our turn, and the gentleman after us, the kitchen was unfortunately closed, and ordering food was no longer possible. Then, while our drinks were being prepared, two people were gossiping about the annoying customers right in front of us. I've rarely seen anything like that!!! If stacking glasses and ignoring guests is more important than taking care of customers in a queue, something is wrong!

The restaurant is attached to a 4-star hotel. This requires a reservation. We made a reservation in the restaurant in the fireplace room and it was confirmed twice. The lady who greeted us didn't care, which would have convinced us; she had enough to do outside, so she sat us outside. About 100 flies greeted us, and after 5 minutes the shady spot we wanted was completely in the sun. After 10 minutes she came back and asked for our name. Completely disorganized and stressed, she left. In the meantime, a queue of guests had formed; by hand, 27 people were waiting to be seated. The food, one salad had arugula in it, the stems of which were about 12 cm long, was absolutely inedible, and two forks were missing. The waitress who served us, a man, was very courteous and competent. Nevertheless, this restaurant is abysmal and not worthy of a 4-star hotel.

The food was excellent, but the waiter was unfortunately quite unmotivated. We were able to sit in the garden, and the atmosphere was great.

We had dinner at Il Cavallo this evening. I ordered spaghetti carbonara and was absolutely dissatisfied. The bacon was soft and flabby, simply disgusting. The arugula salad was also anything but recommendable and had a rather unpleasant aftertaste. The waitress responded to my complaint with, "Then it will be better next time." Absolutely not recommended!!!

We had pizza, the staff was very friendly, and even though the place was full, we didn't have to wait long for our food. We go there often.

Very friendly staff, absolutely delicious food. Bruschetta, salad, and pizza were absolutely top-notch. Plus, the magnificent view over Lake Chiemsee toward the Alps. Update 09.08.25: Everything is still absolutely top-notch.

Restaurant located on a former farm. In summer, it offers a fantastic view of Lake Chiemsee, something you wouldn't expect from the outside. Very close to nature, with plenty of seating on the terrace. Reservations are recommended. The food and drinks are very good, and the pizzas are especially recommended.

Unfortunately, the quality of the food and service have declined significantly. The pizza was quite good, but the pasta (there were three different dishes) was very tasteless and overcooked. Drinks were forgotten several times, and the appetizer was only served after the main course. Plates weren't cleared, and even after asking twice, no dessert menu was brought. We simply looked at the menu online. We've never experienced anything like that before! When we wanted to order something, the waitress was so overwhelmed that she asked us what we should do. We then specifically asked another waiter if they were understaffed, so we might have understood, but he denied it and said they were fully staffed. This kind of service is truly incomprehensible to me and shouldn't be seen in a good restaurant. Very disappointing!

A truly highly recommended restaurant with a beautiful view of Lake Chiemsee. The pizzas are, in my opinion, among the best around. The staff is incredibly friendly and always willing to listen. Highly recommended.

A beautiful restaurant, especially on a warm summer evening when you can sit outside and enjoy the view of Lake Chiemsee. Delicious food at reasonable prices. The service is also very friendly, prompt, and competent (when it comes to questions about the wine, etc.). We spent a very relaxed and unforgettable evening here.

Ideal for horse lovers, the price is honestly okay, I would have expected more because horses are actually quite expensive, but for two people between 40 and 60€ for normal food and drinks, it's really okay.

Such a great view of Lake Chiemsee from the restaurant terrace. Food was A1 and the service was top. From the inside you can even admire riders training. It's just a very nice location.

Very unpleasant experience. We waited 45 minutes for our food. The restaurant manager was rude and arrogant. We ended up having to eat our food cold. Reordered drinks were not served. Never again.

Both pasta and pizza were exceptionally tasty. We were still sitting inside because it was a bit cool outside, but the window had a wonderful view of the sunset over Lake Chiemsee. The terrace is definitely a destination for the summer.

We had reserved a table outside on the terrace for Saturday. If the weather is nice, it's better to reserve a table. When we arrived, 3 tables were reserved and were in the shade. The extremely polite service immediately allowed us to set the table in the sun, brought high chairs for the children and, as I heard, picked up the drinks first. Advice was excellent! First we ate an Italian starter, which was beautifully presented to the eye. Tastes wonderful! For the main course we chose 4 different pizzas and shared them, one of which tasted better than the other. Italian flair on the plate! The very attentive service recommended a Lugana white wine with our meal. The price-performance ratio is well maintained, but is immediately recommended for imitation. We were very refreshed and even took some pizza home with us. At the very end there was an Italian espresso. The view of Lake Chiemsee gave the adults a wonderful view. The children watched the show jumping training and were entertained for a while. We'll be back! It was simply a completely successful stay at the Cavallo.

The food was delicious. The price-performance ratio was good. The server was friendly. Now, in winter, the walk to the restroom isn't particularly pleasant—it's extremely cold.

Quality of the food was rather low, hardly seasoned, the cook confused the oil with the vinegar in the bruscetta. The flour from the pizza dough was more like the consistency of semolina, the wine was too warm, the tiramisu was not edible, it was just sweet and had no taste Taste. There were a lot of guests with dogs in the restaurant and the little ones were constantly barking, so it was quite loud. There are many dishes to choose from, including some vegetarian and vegan. The restaurant was always full and you can't get a table without a reservation. The restaurant has around 100 seats. On one side you can look into the riding arena. There are other places in the area that try harder and have better quality.

Super Service, tolles Essen, schönes Ambiente Immer wieder gerne

Unfortunately, during my last visit here, the wine glasses on the table were heavily covered with water stains. The order was taken quickly and the pizzas came quickly. Unfortunately, my pizza with mortadella and pistachios was disappointing - there was just way too much mortadella on it. The ambience was nice as usual.

Wir hatten bezüglich eines gemütlichen Abendessen reserviert. Grund: Der Geburtstag meines Mannes. Das Lokal direkt am Ufer des Chiemsee einfach erstklassig, ebenso der Empfang. Ein gedeckter Geburtstagstisch, romantischer Kerzenschein und ein stimmungsvoller Ausblick in Richtung See. Mit was wir nicht rechneten, waren die Gäste des Lokals. Uns gegenüber ein lange Tafel, ca. 15 Frauen. Es war uns leider nicht möglich, ein Gespräch zu führen. Der blanke Hüttengaudi, eine ohrenbetäubende Lautstärke, Schreien und Lachen, welches das gesamte Lokal dominierte. Auch ein Tischwechsel brachte nicht viel. Wir sind buchstäblich aus dem Lokal geflohen. Da nützte auch der Service nichts und die Zubereitung der Speisen. Sehr, sehr schade, dass unser Abend diesen Ausgang nahm.

Direkt neben der Reithalle, so ein Zwitterlokal zwischen Edelitaliener und Reiterstüberl. Sehr netter und schneller Service. Nur wir haben beide jetzt Magenflausen nach dem Essen ☹️ Und ob das Mozarella auf meiner Pizza Diavolo war, ich weiß nicht. Denke es war ein Versuch, Schade.

Es war wirklich ein sehr schöner Abend bei euch. Das Essen war hervorragend. Wir waren die letzten Gäste, dass sollte was heißen. Bis zum nächsten Mal.

You can feel the hospitality right from the reception, and the impression continues with the service. A great menu and good food absolutely round off the visit. We'd love to come back!

We had dinner here with colleagues and were rather disappointed. The service, wine and food are "okay" but not really good. There are many better alternatives within a 10km radius.

Nice ambience on the terrace, average food and miserable service. The terrace is really nice in the evening. Unfortunately, we were placed very far away (even though we had explicitly stated our wish when making the reservation). The request for one of the nicer tables that was still available was denied on the grounds that service was not possible there. A little later, however, other guests were placed exactly there. To order. It took a lot of time to even place the order for the food. We had all finished our first drink by then. After another long wait, the wrong main courses were served instead of the starters ordered. Another 15 minutes later, the food we actually ordered arrived - but it was the main course. The appetizer was completely forgotten by the mushy and then annoyed waitress, who seemed to speak German far too poorly (or simply didn't want to), as well as another drink order. Nevertheless, both appeared on the bill later! This was now brought by the apparently more experienced older blonde waitress. However, she was no more polite or motivated. A word of apology or regret for the evening's many mistakes? None.

A brilliant place for horse lovers to combine equestrian sports (Ising Horse Festival) and delicious food. We spontaneously had a nice place on the terrace and super friendly waitresses, who were also a lot of fun. The food was also super delicious!

The service seemed a bit uncoordinated and it took a while until you could receive your food A very nice location. The pizzas taste good and are the right size. Ordered the bruschetta as a starter and it consisted of bread and tasted like tomato salad. Next time I would save for the price. Nevertheless, this restaurant is recommended.

Die bestellten Speisen wurden trotz des Andrangs überraschend schnell serviert. Jedoch hat der Koch wohl vergessen, das Nudelgericht mit Shrimps zu würzen(es fehlte Knoblauch,Salz,Pfefferetc.) Deshalb war der Geschmack äusserst faad !!! Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis deshalb ungenügend !

Disappointing visit - Nice place but disastrous service The location of the restaurant is really nice, but if the food tastes as good as the competence of the service staff, then it can only be terrible. The service was unreasonable and unprofessional. I came alone and politely asked for a seat. I was put in the lounge where I sat for 20 minutes without a menu. It was only after my intervention and a friendly request that I finally received a card. After another 25 minutes of no one taking my order, I had enough. The Chef de Rang (or whoever was in charge of the service staff) showed no insight. When I complained, he simply said that perhaps I hadn't been noticed. No apology, no attempt to make amends - just poor customer service. It's a real shame because I would have liked to eat there as the food at least looked tasty. But there can be no question of authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality here. My guess is that the restaurant was completely understaffed. Really disappointing. I cannot and will not recommend this shop under any circumstances and strongly advise against eating here.

We stopped at Cavallo on the way home from a short vacation. Vienna has already eaten in Ising several times, but always in a different restaurant. So here's a first. We were lucky to get a table at all and actually only had two hours, but that didn't work out because there was a thunderstorm coming up. But that didn't detract from the culinary enjoyment; we finished shortly beforehand. As a starter we had a vitello tonnato and a crab meat soup. The vitello was absolutely classic, as you would expect, without any special frills, the soup was very creamy, but both were still good. We also enjoyed the main courses: the Spaghettin Vongole were really very good, and the pasta with shrimp felt like the soup from the starter was added as a sauce. It was tasty, but we would have swapped one of them (soup or this pasta). Overall, it was still good and the view of Lake Chiemsee from the terrace also speaks for going there again.

Traumhaft schöne Lage mit Blick auf den Chiemsee und die Voralpen, sehr gutes Essen mit gutem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, freundliche Bedienung, angenehme Atmosphäre.

If you want to eat very solid Italian food in a particularly beautiful atmosphere, you should give this restaurant a try. The view of Lake Chiemsee and the mountains is definitely something special. We like to go on Sundays right at 5:00 p.m., then it's not that crowded. So far we have always liked it and tasted good too.

Super gute Pizza, phantastischer Pinot Noir Rose aus Südafrika, tolles Ambiente, flotte Bedienung, was will man mehr, besser als in Bella Italia!!!

Ein sehr schöner Abend im Il Cavallo! Der Service, das Essen und dazu das tolle Ambiente, einfach wunderbar!

Nach telefonischer Anfrage wurde uns mitgeteilt , dass für zwei Personen kein Tisch frei wäre. Als wir 15 Minuten später dort ankamen , um uns selber von der Situation zu überzeugen, waren im Aussenbereich etwa 10 Tische frei , der Innenbereich war komplett leer . Bei Nachfrage bei der Restaurantleiterin wurde uns mehr als unfreundlich geantwortet , dass bis vor wenigen Minuten alle Tische belegt gewesen wären und außerdem das Personal komplett überlastet sei . Nach dieser Antwort verließen wir das Restaurant umgehend. Sie werden uns dort nicht mehr als Gäste begrüßen dürfen!

Also wie immer kann ich mich nur positiv äußern. Leider fand ich nur schade, dass so gar nicht auf mein Wunsch eingegangen wurde. Denn ich hätte zur Firmung wenigstens ein paar Blumen am Tisch gewünscht. Oder eine kleine Aufmerksamkeit, denn das hatte bis jetzt noch jedes Lokal für einen besonderes Essen umgesetzt. Essen, Service und Ambiente wie gesagt immer top, deswegen sind wir auch öfters zu Besuch.

Getränke, Salat und Personal echt super. Die Pizza's fanden wir nicht so gut. Artischocken holzig und Pizza wenig Geschmack. Der Teig eher Gummiartig. Na ja aber sonst wars echt schön. Die Pizza müsste überarbeitet werden.

Came across the restaurant by chance, so didn't know about reservations. At the entrance the waiter pointed this out to us and gave us a table with the clear indication, Max. 1.5 hours. There is another way to be friendly... We ordered 1 pizza and 2 pasta dishes. Pizza arrived, half eaten, then the pasta dishes. 1 plate of spagetti al olio, with guaranteed 1 whole tuber of coarsely chopped garlic pieces and penne arabiata with at least 5 chili peppers. Then the drinks came. The young waitress was friendly and got a tip, especially since she couldn't help it for the botched meal. All in all, we wouldn't recommend it. Even if something has rank and name, that doesn't mean anything.

Lokalität natürlich super. Salat sehr gut. Aber: Pizzas sparsam u. unschön belegt, innen labbrig, aussen steinhart, mit Messer u. Gabel kaum zu essen, jugendl. Personal freundlich, spricht Gäste mit Ihr / Euch an, reicht Essen am Gesicht vorbei an den Sitznachbarn- geht gar nicht. Und: vorallem, alles völlig überteuert.

Tolles Ambiente auf der Terrasse, mit Blick auf den See (Innenraum eher spartanisch). Personal nett und zuvorkommend. Man wird schnell bedient. Die Getränke sind gut temperiert. Das Essen (in diesem Fall Pizza) ist sehr lecker, aber das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis doch sehr ambitioniert. 12-20 EUR für eine Pizza sind schon eine Ansage (Inflation und Wirtschaftskrise hin oder her), zumal die Pizzen recht klein sind. Übrige Gerichte auch recht hochpreisig. Deutlicher Unterschied zu den Preisen vor 3-4 Jahren. Aufgrund der schönen Lage und der guten Atmosphäre insgesamt ein gelungener Abend. Mit Einschränkung beim Preis insgesamt mit 4/5 Sternen empfehlenswert.

Beautiful view over the lake and Alpine panorama. Unfortunately, as has already been said several times here, the service staff seems to be overwhelmed. All tables were reserved by 4 p.m., even though guests didn't arrive until 6 p.m. It was difficult for the staff to free a table for a quick coffee or refreshment; they had a hard time doing so here. Coffee only came with sugar stick but no milk. Friendliness was very reserved, and overall the restaurant came across as very arrogant. Prices are okay so far, we can't rate the food. A pity
