Unfortunately, we can't rate the food because 50 minutes after we ordered, despite repeated reminders to at least bring us the foccacia we ordered as a starter, we didn't get anything. However, guests who came after us were taken care of. Orders for pizza to go that were placed in our presence were also processed. After asking again, we paid for the drinks and left hungry. There was not a word of regret, let alone an apology. SHAME!

A real gem in Cologne! Montanara not only offers fantastic Italian cuisine, but also a great selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes - perfect for anyone who values ​​conscious nutrition. The ingredients are fresh, the dishes prepared with a lot of love, and you can simply taste the quality. I was particularly impressed by the gluten-free pasta and vegan pizza, which was absolutely delicious! The service is also great: friendly, attentive and always with a smile. The atmosphere is cozy and invites you to linger. Whether for a relaxed dinner or a quick lunch – you simply feel at home here. Absolute recommendation!

Montanara is simply my absolute favorite restaurant in Cologne! I'm a regular customer and come here 2-3 times a week - and for good reason. The Italian cuisine is authentic, the ingredients are always fresh, and you can taste the love with which every dish is prepared. Especially the homemade lasagne, truffle tagliatelle and the desserts are a highlight every time! The team is incredibly welcoming and makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is always attentive and friendly. I can really recommend Montanara to anyone looking for real Italian enjoyment. Always a pleasure – and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Very good Italian cuisine. The portion sizes may seem small at first, but they are filling and don't make you feel full. Pizza for 11-16€ and this is even better than in any pizzeria.

Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be. The restaurant is half empty, and you wait far too long. When your drinks are empty, you don't get new ones without asking.

Super great shop... service on the ball... a bit lacking in Italian atmosphere... music, for example. And it would be nice if the wines were also in stock. Otherwise, everything is top notch.

Waited 1.5 hours for the food, after asking, 3 pasta dishes came 10 minutes later (all 3 were bland, the carbonara was terribly bad) at the end they didn't even ask if it was tasty. The criticism probably wasn't really received, it's a shame, absolutely not recommended!

We were there for dinner last night, Friday evening, Valentine's Day, and the service was terrible. I'm sad that there were only two waitresses on duty for several occupied tables on a Friday evening. The two glasses of wine we ordered came quickly and the pizzas were ok but I would have liked to have ordered more items and a dessert, in this case the waitress was so busy that it took a very long time to come to our table, after a while we managed to order a tiramisu but it took so long that we skipped the dessert and asked for the bill to pay, it took so long that I had to get up to pay in front of the bar and even then I had to I waited even longer to pay because the waitresses were super busy. Meanwhile, all the other customers were also unhappy with the service because they wanted to order more things from them. * On the table it said “olive oil”, which wasn’t, but a pretty little bottle from Scavi filled with cooking oil (sunflower oil). In short: terrible place, terrible atmosphere, first and last time...

The food here is very tasty, the waiter makes an effort to serve the guests. Of course, costs could always be cheaper, but that's how it is everywhere right now. We still found the room a bit cool in February.

Unprofessionalism across the board! We will remember this restaurant visit for a long time. Starting with the quality of the food, service and the ambience (ice cold location!) The food was underground. Noodles were pre-cooked and then soaked in water with no taste or kick. Pizza tough and topped with rotten salsiccia. We immediately complained and returned the entire meal, to which the waitress reacted aggressively by saying, “We shouldn't make such a fuss.” We then immediately asked for the bill, only paid for the drinks and left the restaurant. "NEVER AGAIN"

Disappointing experience. The food is below average and price is very high. We reserved it for Christmas dinner and they had a special card for that day although you could order their regular menu on Lieferando. When asked if we can order it as well, they simply said that its not possible. The price variation between normal card and special card was very huge. For example : A dish that normally costs 19 euros was on Christmas menu for 38 euros. Very dissatisfied experience,do not recommend.

Pizza was okay, but at €17.95 it wasn't exactly cheap. Noodles weren't completely cooked through. Instead of spaghetti carbonara, maccharoni (small portion) came with cream sauce without any taste. Side salad at €10.50 was tasty, but not worth the price.

Wow, ordered pizza with rocket and parmesan. I got a pizza WITHOUT parmesan or rocket. So I called the restaurant. No insight at all. I should bring the pizza over myself and then maybe I can get my money back. Service is zero. Absolutely underground. It's better to order somewhere else, you won't get any food or service here.

I can only recommend the Montanara in Cologne, super delicious food for which I will come again and again from now on and the service is super friendly and accommodating. You can't fault anything, even with children and a dog, the Montanara gave us a very warm welcome and the atmosphere is very pleasant, so you don't even notice how time flies. The tiramisu and spaghetti with prawns in particular are a clear recommendation.

The service is excellent, the atmosphere is familiar. Today, from our perspective: - the portions partly. a lot smaller - the service partly. intrusive and unfriendly - the quality partly. unusually bad With the “old” Montanara, an insider tip in Cologne city center has been lost. When asked “Excuse me, was there a change of tenant in the past?” we got the short answer: “Yes, but we are much better now!”. This loss of reality takes away all appetite. It's a shame and sad, we won't be coming back. Thank you Montana for many wonderful evenings and celebrations over the last few years! We don't think it's good that your name continues under a new tenant.

We ordered a spinach pizza, got a pizza with about 10 individual baby spinach leaves on it - the most economical spinach pizza of my life. So it was actually an overpriced Margherita. In addition, unpleasantly loud music was playing from a sharp, tinny-sounding loudspeaker (which "couldn't be turned down")

It's such a shame about the old Montanara 😭 we didn't know about the change of ownership until we entered, but we immediately suspected it, googled it and it was confirmed. The menu is sad, the staff is okay (not meant personally, but we still know the old people) and the atmosphere is so unpleasant that we really didn't feel comfortable (what kind of horrible music is that?). It's a shame that so much (too much!) has changed, we won't be coming back and we still fondly remember the good old mountain cheese and truffle pizza ✨

You can taste that everything is fresh. Because of the nice weather we had the opportunity to sit outside. The service was also great. I would love to come back!

There were three of us there this evening, the restaurant was completely empty, we waited 15 minutes for our drinks, starters were ok, unfortunately the main courses were very disappointing, an original carbonara was far from it. Pointing out to the waitress that they have to take dirty starter plates with them is very questionable as the only table in the restaurant, the service was unfortunately very poor, not attentive and simply never at the table. It's a miracle that the restaurant is still standing with the service and quality of the food.

I ordered a seafood pizza. The dough, sauce and cheese are fantastic but the toppings are almost outrageous. I would rather pay a little more to get the old quality again. I'm attaching a picture from April and one from today. I think that speaks for itself. 3 stars and the hope for change.

We went to Montanara spontaneously and for the very first time for a birthday dinner and can really recommend it from the bottom of our hearts. We recently went to Montanara in the evening during the European Championships and had a very nice and fun evening there. The food was really sensationally delicious - we haven't eaten it so well for a long time. The absolute highlights were the burrata pizza and the truffle pasta. Everything is homemade and you can taste it too. The service was very nice, quick and warm. We'd love to come back.

I actually always enjoyed being here because I wanted to support a traditional restaurant of this type with little trend marketing. However, you should make sure to give enough tips (it wasn't 5%), otherwise the waiter will insult you and tell you it's better not to give anything at all, even though everything was friendly before. Unfortunately, neither of us currently have any income and haven't given it much thought, even though I would have liked to give more. But I no longer feel comfortable where friendliness is linked to money and that leads to excessive behavior. I really hope that more confidence and acceptance towards customers can be cultivated here. We are young and visibly and noticeably none of the older people who have enough money and just don't begrudge it to the staff. It's a real shame and I'm still sorry, I was otherwise satisfied.

Was here because of an insta ad and was not disappointed in any way. The Parpadelle al tartufo e strancetti di manzo was fantastic. Plus a delicious Chardonnay, great service. What more do you want. Definitely come back. Keep it up

Delicious, filling pizza from the Stone oven. Staff was friendly. We didn't wait long for the pizza. I can only agree with the positive reviews. What we noticed by the way was that the knives were actually a bit dull when cutting. But please don't let that stop you from eating there.

I love Montanara, they still serve really traditional Italian cuisine. I hope that there won't be any major changes even after the change in ownership, because there are no other authentic restaurants like this in Cologne anymore! The food is always freshly cooked, everything is fresh and of the best quality. Homemade pasta - I love it!! We have been there many times and hope that the new owner doesn't notice any major changes :)

The food is really good. We had 4 pizzas and one pasta and everyone was happy and full. The service was unfortunately… yes, where is the service…. Hello? Joe Biden's father was there once, but then he left and never came back. We couldn't order a second round of drinks. The bill was only placed on the table in passing. Italian food cooked by Italians. I recommend spaghetti with clams and cherry tomatoes. Also grilled lamb ribs and homemade tiramisu were very tasty. Been there for two days in a row during a tradeshow and being an Italian I usually don’t like visit Italian restaurants abroad but this one oh well, it definitely worth a visit.

Great Italian cuisine. Beyond the usual pasta (always homemade here) and pizza, you can get great and authentic meat and fish dishes here, often seasonally influenced and always top-notch. My absolute highlight for dessert is the strawberry lasagna. Top!

Das Personal ist aufmerksam, umschmeichelnd und hervorragend. Weine, Karte und Empfehlungen waren präsent und konnten ohne Zögern abgerufen werden. Charmant, aber unaufdringlich würden wir bedient. Scharf in der Karte ist ernstzunehmen. Leider hatten wir mit den Böden, der sonst schmackhaften, geringfügig uberwürzten Pizzen zu kämpfen. Dafür waren die Portionen aber gut und das Ambiente okay. Der große Bar-/Tresenbereich lädt zum Verweilen und mit großem Sortiment ein, abseits der Küche einzukehren und zu verweilen.
