Unbelievable what happened tonight. We're regulars who come here often and always eat very well. Recently, we complained about the rump steak, and all the waiters and the chef looked at it and it stank because it wasn't fresh, and the manager confirmed this. Unfortunately, we lost some regulars, and we even paid for a piece of meat that was damaged and expired. It's outrageous!

Nice ambiance on the Rhine. I can't say anything about the food... Despite waving and even approaching several times, we weren't served for 20 minutes. Then we left... but the ice cream sundaes at the next table looked good. Maybe next time.

Unfriendly service, the food tasted like Aldi frozen food, and card payments weren't accepted. Absolutely not recommended.

Yesterday, August 26, 2025, we visited da Franco again after a long time. The food wasn't bad (a bit light on the plate/Spaghetti Mafia). The pizza rolls were served warm but without any dip/balsamic vinegar or oil for dipping (a shame). The female server was very friendly (the male server – well... not so friendly/more bored – impossible!). The seating and tables were totally outdated and no longer attractive – let alone clean! The ambiance is not what a good pizzeria should have! Really sad considering the setting 🫣 They should be ashamed of themselves!

The food was okay. Unfortunately, it was a bit small. It was tasty, but nothing special. The pizza was solid. Unfortunately, card payments aren't accepted, and the service could be a bit friendlier.

We were there today with the family and I have to say everything was perfect from the food to the service, everything was simply top 👍

We ordered several spaghetti ice creams, but they all came without cream and no fresh strawberry sauce…

Ownership has changed. Frozen pizza tastes better. Such a shame. Long-standing tradition replaced by poor food.

I usually like to highlight the positives, but unfortunately, I have to make an exception here. The service at this restaurant was truly disappointing. It seemed as if the waiter wasn't in the best mood—in any case, he wasn't friendly at all. On the contrary, he seemed very unfriendly and dismissive. What particularly irritated me was his disregard for my wishes. When I politely asked for the bill, he just nodded and walked away grumpily. When I then, still positively friendly, wanted to pay with my card, he said rather curtly that I should have mentioned it beforehand—card payments would no longer be possible because he had already recorded it as cash. If he had given me the opportunity to mention my payment method, I would, of course, have done so. So I had no choice but to run to the nearest ATM to settle the bill. I found this behavior quite inappropriate and therefore can't say anything positive about my visit, except for the beautiful ambiance with a view of the Rhine!

After more than 20 years, there's been a change of ownership, and what can I say? Yesterday was probably the last time we ate there. Aside from the chef and one waiter, the entire staff was replaced. That was a huge mistake, as the new staff has absolutely no overview and constantly brought us the wrong things or even forgot them altogether. We're just so sad 😞

What a shame. This is no longer the Pizzeria Franco we knew. There's still a lot of room for improvement under the new owner. Overwhelmed, unfriendly staff, cold pizza (re-served after a complaint), and not as good anymore. But let's give it another chance and hope it improves.

You immediately sense that hospitality is at the forefront here. The staff was attentive, friendly, and courteous – just right, without being intrusive. The food? Simply fantastic! Fresh, lovingly prepared, and of the highest quality. The combination of regional ingredients and creative cuisine absolutely won us over. Pair it with a glass of local wine, the rippling Rhine in the background – and everyday life will be forgotten. I ate liver with salad there yesterday. The liver was very good and perfectly prepared, but the salad was not. It could only be described as a garnish rather than a salad, especially given the quantity: a few leaves of oak leaf and iceberg lettuce, a small amount of corn kernels, and a sliced tomato. The whole thing was seasoned with little to no care. I don't understand what an appetizing and adequate salad looks like, and for €19.50, the price/performance ratio was unfortunately not right. I also got three dry pizza rolls with no spread, etc., and I ate two of them just to feel full. The pizza my family ordered tasted and looked like frozen food. I would only recommend this restaurant with reservations, unfortunately.

The food was okay, but nothing special. The look was great. Beware of surprises! I was just really shocked when the bill arrived. I had told the waiter at the beginning that I would order dessert separately afterward. After I had eaten my pizza and the plate was cleared, the waiter came back a while later with the words "Surprise" and brought an ice cream sundae that I hadn't ordered. I was surprised at first, but didn't think anything of it. My main assumption was that maybe someone had ordered it incorrectly and was now simply being given to someone else so the restaurant wouldn't have to throw it away. Yeeeeeah... well... It then appeared on the bill as "Various Appetizers" and was a bit more expensive than the main course itself. The bill doubled. When I asked about it, I was suddenly told, rather rudely, "Well, that's the ice cream sundae, you ate it." It was quite a cheek, especially since I'm lactose intolerant and left it to someone else. I would have preferred a different dessert myself. So, 15 euros turned into over 30 euros.

The view is beautiful, and that's about it. The pizza tastes like it came from the delivery place around the corner. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the food was not tasty at all; I even had to send it back – but I was still charged for it! Afterward, the staff were even more unfriendly and visibly annoyed. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience for me. I definitely won't be back. Absolutely not recommended!

Totally unfriendly service! The Coke was stale, apparently not an isolated incident.

The restaurant's location was great. The service was rude/questionable. We ordered a non-alcoholic wheat beer, an apple spritzer, and two espressos. The waitress was repeatedly visibly annoyed by the guests and reacted verbally (spoken to herself, but audible to the guests). Due to a misunderstanding between my companion and me (which only became apparent after we left the restaurant), I only tipped 30 cents (I didn't understand the total correctly – it was added up manually and given in Italian – we rounded up the amount in the presence of the waitress). Regardless of whether I paid that way intentionally or unconsciously/accidentally... It doesn't give the waitress the right to be rude by saying "next time I'll decide" and "then go to the brewery." Apparently, the waitress also generally expects tips, and even a minimum amount? Tips are an extra for (minimally) good service (we received a Coke instead of apple spritzer, but we didn't complain because it was no big deal and not that dramatic for us). 1. We usually always tip 10% (often more) for normal/standard service. 2. We paid 100% of the bill when paying, not underpaying or skipping the bill. 3. Tips are not a right. A server earns them in addition for a corresponding service... 4. Please indicate if a minimum order value is required... especially if guests only want to order drinks (we weren't the only guests who did this).

I've been coming here on and off for what feels like 35 years. I wanted to order a pizza with peppers and onions, plus tuna. That would have been €9.90 + €1.00. They only accepted an order for tuna and onions, plus peppers, for €14.90 + €1.00. Clever or rude? The pizza was then lightly topped, undercooked, and therefore sloppy and not crispy. And, to me, it had zero seasoning. I couldn't detect any oregano or basil. The waiter was unfriendly. Luckily for him, he didn't ask if I liked it. Next time we'll go next door to the brewery. For me, a prime example of how you can gradually ruin your good reputation. What a shame.

Small portions, unfriendly service and then charged too much…..I was there exactly twice…the first and last time

Unfortunately, the pizza was a disappointment. It tasted like one of the cheapest frozen pizzas from the supermarket – no freshness or quality at all. What was particularly unhygienic was that there were several hairs on the pizza. That's unacceptable. We pointed this out to the waiter, but he didn't even apologize and was also very rude. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Beautifully located pizzeria right on the Rhine promenade. The location is top-notch. I can't recommend the Margherita pizza. The crust was good, but there was far too little cheese. It was more like a pizza with tomato sauce.

We took a break here on our bike tour. We ordered two coffees and a spaghetti ice cream. This was very disappointing. The ice cream wasn't cold enough, and the strawberry sauce was from a bottle; it was thin and very sweet. We couldn't enjoy this break, and even the beautiful view couldn't save it. I've had better coffee at an Italian restaurant.

We went here for dinner with two couples on a Saturday evening. The staff were very warm and friendly and we felt like we were in good hands. The evening was rounded off with the quality of the food. We like to eat classic Italian, but because of the current asparagus season, we opted for asparagus with potatoes, ham and hollandaise sauce for the main course, which was offered outside of the normal menu. The asparagus was of good quality and very aromatic, so we didn't regret the decision. As a starter we had, again classic Italian, Vitello Tonnato, which we also really enjoyed. The staff remained as attentive throughout the evening as they were at the beginning, so that we were able to order more drinks at any time, which is unfortunately no longer a given in restaurants these days. Of course, when you paid you got a bargain on the house. We will be happy to come back!

Die Lage direkt am Rhein ist bei sonnigem Wetter einfach top! Wir gehen mehrmals im Jahr hier essen und können die Pizzen sehr empfehlen. Diese sind für uns ein Genuss. Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Das da Franco ist immer gut besucht. Es scheint also auch anderen dort gut zu schmecken :)

Das Restaurant liegt direkt am Rhein und hat eine wunderbare Aussicht in beide Richtungen. Das Essen hat eine gute Preisleistung. Die KellnerInnen sind sehr familienfreundlich.

Wir waren mal wieder in Remagen und wollten etwas zu Mittag essen. Da wir vor einem Jahr ebenfalls dort waren, gingen wir wieder in diese Gaststätte unten am Rhein. Leider war das Essen miserabel. Die Pizza war offenbar schon vorgebacken, denn der Käse klebte. Die Pilze dieser Pizza Funghi konnte man fast mit einer Hand abzählen, sie waren alle sehr klein und vertrocknet. Das deutet daraufhin, dass sie schon vorbereitet war und nur noch warm gemacht wurde. Die Spaghetti klebten, eine typische Erscheinungsform, wenn diese ebenfalls schon vorgekocht sind und nur noch in der Pfanne warmgemacht wurden. Der Service war mäßig, wir hatten das Gefühl, dass man uns eigentlich gar nicht mehr wollte, weil man sich auf das Sylvester-Essen vorbereitete. Dann sollte man vielleicht besser mittags schließen. Jedenfalls werden wir dieses Lokal nie wieder aufsuchen.

Over the bruschetta the waiter started arguing with me. His statement: everyone who ordered Bruchetta that day thought it was great. I would be the only one who thought she was very bad. These discussions. The guest is king and you take criticism like a professional. Apologizes, done. But no, they were stroppy and cheeky. They only think about your income, they don't care about anything else. If I am invited again, I will definitely not go there. But recommend another restaurant. Part 1: I've been there several times and was disappointed by the food and service (also from the boss). The pizzeria is based on the name Franco. It no longer has anything to do with quality. I don't go there anymore either, I was only taken to the birthday party. I ordered (everyone heard it, including the boss) and the wrong food came. Instead of saying sorry, let's do it again, there was a discussion with me at the table that I wouldn't have said the order like that. Tried to cover up his mistake and continued to argue. No matter, he said at the end we'll do it again, it'll be ready in 5 minutes. Everyone at the table had finished eating and my food was still not there. There were excuses and things like, well, the food came and had no taste. I asked to pack up the rest of the pizza to take away. When I got home I noticed that they served half the pizza folded up like bread. Conclusion:. ●Able to accept zero criticism (although the mistake was with them, including the boss) ●Unnecessary discussion with the customer ●Curtained friendliness ●Be disrespectful with food ●You think you're so good/something better, but it's just the name why people still disagree. ●Arrogant and conceited My personal opinion "Never again!!!! I'd rather go to the brewery next door. The food is great, the staff is friendly and the guest is treated courteously.

Great service with very friendly waiter Maurizio, who has been working here for almost 30 years. I come by regularly to eat spaghetti, very tasty and great for cycling. Nice view and cheap prices, always plenty of space. I can't understand the bad reviews, especially when it comes to the service. People seem to be in a bad mood and complaining.

The location on the Rhine is of course very beautiful. But that's the only thing I find positive. Price-performance is underground. The pizza was soggy, as if it had been warmed up, and the salad was completely overpriced for the few green leaves. The half-frozen dessert was like custard cream, there was nothing half-frozen. The tiramisu was the worst thing I've ever eaten. Hardly anything reminded me of the classic recipe. The fact that I also received a piece that was cut completely crookedly is pathetic for a restaurant. The request for payment was seen several times by the “higher-ranking people” but was ignored. Instead, they talked to each other. Only when a waiter lower down in the hierarchy saw our payment request were we “allowed” to pay. I'd rather spend my money somewhere where you don't rest on the location of the restaurant.

The four of us had dinner. everyone highly satisfied. unfortunately the day was saddened. 20€ for excessive parking time. who would like to thank the community of Remagen. There are also communities where you can eat well without the hassle of parking.

Fantastic Italian food at Ristorante da Franco After 14 years I visited the Ristorante da Franco in Remagen again, and it was a real highlight! The quality of the food is simply fantastic. The pasta with seafood and the pizza in particular are so good that even Cuxhaven could try a slice of it. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, making you immediately feel welcome and familiar. The atmosphere is cozy and invites you to linger. If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine, you will definitely find it here. A restaurant that I can fully recommend! Greetings from Cuxhaven Djurka family

Ate the worst “Salad Capriciosa” of my life here yesterday. Absolutely carelessly slapped onto the plate. Tuna was no more than a tablespoon from a can, ham was cheap ham cut into small strips and the dressing was a kind of cocktail sauce that coated the whole thing in a very thin layer. Hunger drove it in, but never ever. There's really room for improvement here.

We stopped on a bike tour to satisfy our great hunger, after the waiter initially brought the wrong drink, and after correcting it, the pizza arrived. We identified this as a frozen pizza because of the holes in the dough from below and the topping that was shifted to one side in a pizza. For a traditional Italian company that even advertises that it was founded in 1980, there is no discernible tradition of craftsmanship here. I'm really disappointed, especially after the waiter walked around for another 15 minutes after asking to pay before he cashed in, and all without much activity. With a table right on the Rhine, the location is really great, but at a traditional Italian restaurant I expect everything but frozen pizza.

The location is sensational, but that's what the owner relies on: a lot of staff, but very unfriendly and inattentive. When it was over 30°, there were no replenishments of drinks, no food was brought, the cutlery was dirty, and the service was unfriendly. Parmesan cheese was three quarters empty and the container was extremely dirty, which was dismissed with the excuse: it had been standing in the sun. First of all, you don't put cheese in the sun. Secondly, not three quarters of the contents are missing from the sun and thirdly, the vessel is from the outside. This doesn't make them dirty either - they would have been better off keeping this lie to themselves. As regular customers, we won't be visiting this restaurant again for the time being, especially since there was neither a proper apology nor, for example, a dessert on the house for the food that wasn't delivered! Super cozy location right on the Rhine promenade - nothing more. Food is ok; not more. Everyone can make up their own mind about the price. Plan for longer waiting times, even if there is not much going on. Service can also improve greatly. No recommendation. I don't go here anymore.

Gute Lage. Der erste Eindruck lässt auf einen schönen Abend auf der Terrasse außen schließen. Leider dann doch nur Touristenstandart. Der Service ist noch freundlich aber das Essen absoluter Durchschnitt. Der Fisch im Salat noch halb roh und die Spagetti Aglio Oli mit Pepperoni hatte Mikrowellenstandart. Essen nicht gut, aber die Mitrarbeiter sehr freundlich. Tipp: 50 m gehen und ins La Cucina.

For me, bad reviews really have to be earned, but this one is highly deserved. The black-haired head waiter was simply being audacious when he complained that we had called him over even though one person in the group was missing and couldn't yet place his order. His words were paraphrased: “Should I wait here all day?!”. I honestly don't know how to answer a waiter whose job consists of serving customers. It's better to let the gentleman work in the kitchen so he can cook the tomatoes. If you then talk about the food, the salad was covered in sand. They must have prepared the salad unwashed and poured sauce over it. The cola was stale. I thought the total bill of €65 for three pizzas that looked like frozen pizzas was a bit high. The service is beyond deplorable and the store thrives solely on its location. We often eat in this area and certainly never here again 😄

I have been coming to this restaurant for the better part of 20 years and the food is as good as always. Good service, good food, good prices, can’t ask for much more than that. My favorite time of year is summer when you can sit outside and watch the boats on the Rhein.

Ordered food today with my wife Cannelloni and I spaghetti carbonara and 2 weizen beers. Wife got her food and after 20 minutes I still had nothing. I asked for the bill and it was no longer necessary for me. The waiter apologized that he was too busy and was very unfriendly. A second one came outside and said it was his fault. They did not provide a solution. Been at least 10 times in the past and now never again. Agreed not expensive, but it is the unfriendliness that ruins everything.

Since there was an ice cream display case set up on the restaurant's terrace, we thought we would eat ice cream and drink coffee there. The employee came to the table without telling us the time of day and put the menus on the table for us. Before we could ask for the ice cream he was gone again. After a good 10 minutes he came back and looked at us expectantly. So far he still hadn't spoken a word. We asked for the ice cream menu as there was no ice cream listed on the menu. He said something incomprehensible, took the menus away and threw the ice cream menu (a laminated A4 sheet) from the next table onto our table. He gave us an annoyed look and disappeared again. No one needs such outrageous behavior! He seemed absolutely overwhelmed, stressed and once he learned the job - there wasn't much left of it. A very bad example for the industry! We then got up and ate a very tasty ice cream at the competition - the ice cream parlor Venezia. We received a very friendly welcome and service there. The Ristorante da Franco is absolutely not recommended! Not worth a visit and thank goodness there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Remagen.

3/5 stars - Mixed feelings on the Rhine We recently visited the Italian restaurant on the Rhine promenade in Remagen, attracted by the beautiful ambience right on the water. The view was breathtaking and promised a relaxing evening. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not in keeping with the surroundings. We ordered three pizzas and one scampi. The pizzas were ok but the scampi was a disappointment. They smelled strongly of fish and didn't look very appetizing, which you could tell from the pictures we took. When we received the bill and raised the quality of the scampi, they tried to convince us that everything was fine, which did not lead to a satisfactory solution. In addition, the service was not convincing; an employee avoided eye contact and appeared rather unprofessional as he scurried past. Despite the beautiful location, I only give it 2 stars because both the food and the service could be significantly improved.

Great place to rest. Overall, it was nice there and the food was delicious. But..... A Lasanie for €13 should be at least as big as the bowl in which it is served. Ours looked like it came from a children's plate. Very little !! My pizza was a little more but a little more toppings would have filled you up. But...... It tasted great and the staff and the manager of the shop were first class, super friendly and also very quick. Thank you too to the kitchen .Quick and good !! TIP If you say please a red wine then you better choose what you order otherwise nothing will be precise. Will we eat there again? Yes . But hopefully there will be something more on the plate.

The ambience is really great and the ice cream is delicious. However, the pizza dough was tough, the bruschetta was too crispy, the pasta tasted so-so and the prices were too high for the quality offered. The service can be improved. The toilets stink of urine, I'm still waiting for my tiramisu - which I ordered twice, the waiter was quite unfriendly.

We had delicious coffee here after a long bike ride. Great view of the Rhine and very friendly staff.

Beware of food poisoning!! I ordered tiramisu here, which was already bad. It still looked good, but tasted spoiled. The service didn't care and so I still had to pay the full price. I'll never go to that restaurant again
