Ristorante da Francesco in Bamberg

Ich gehe mittlerweile schon seit längerer Zeit regelmäßig hier essen und bin jedes Mal aufs Neue begeistert. Für mich ist das mit Abstand der beste Italiener in Bamberg. Die Qualität der Speisen ist wirklich außergewöhnlich. Alles wirkt frisch, hochwertig und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Egal ob Pizza, Pasta oder andere Gerichte – bisher hat mich noch nie etwas enttäuscht. Auch das Restaurant selbst macht einen tollen Eindruck. Der Innenbereich ist stilvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet und der Außenbereich ist im Sommer einfach wunderschön. Dort kann man den Abend in einer richtig angenehmen Atmosphäre genießen. Der Service verdient ebenfalls ein großes Lob. Das gesamte Team ist immer freundlich, aufmerksam und gleichzeitig locker und sympathisch. Man fühlt sich jedes Mal herzlich willkommen. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt ist die Parksituation. Man findet problemlos einen Parkplatz, was gerade in Bamberg alles andere als selbstverständlich ist. Was mich außerdem immer wieder überrascht, sind die Preise. Bei der hochwertigen Qualität des Essens, dem schönen Ambiente und dem tollen Service würde man deutlich höhere Preise erwarten. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist deshalb wirklich hervorragend. Für mich eine absolute Empfehlung und jedes Mal einen Besuch wert. Wer in Bamberg auf der Suche nach einem richtig guten Italiener ist, sollte hier unbedingt vorbeischauen.

Die Preise waren wahnsinnig, ich glaube, die Pizza war Tiefkühlware (absurd) und der Service war nicht gut, ich bin enttäuscht.

Wir wollten telefonisch reservieren, hatten aber leider einen unglaublich unfreundlichen Mann am anderen Ende der Leitung. Es war furchtbar. Obwohl kein Tisch frei war, hätten wir nach dieser Erfahrung sowieso nicht dort essen wollen.

Selten so unfreundlich am Telefon abgewürgt worden. „An diesem Tag geschlossene Gesellschaft!“ und aufgelegt. Wirklich schade, wäre gerne wieder gekommen, aber offensichtlich besteht kein Interesse seitens des Lokals.

Wir waren um 17.00 Uhr auf dem Michaelsberg, leider war ein Gewitter im Anmarsch. Angezeigt war, die Gaststätte öffne um 17.30 Uhr, nicht mal ein winziger Hinweis auf geschlossene Gesellschaft. Anstatt schnell vom Berg runterzulaufen, beschlossen wir zu warten. Um halb sechs, als das Gewitter schon über uns war, erklärte uns eine unfreundliche Dame, dass sie keinen Platz hätten. Die Gaststätte war komplett leer. Während des Wartens wurden wir von mehreren Mitarbeitern gesehen, keiner hat uns gegenüber erwähnt, dass sie keine Plätze hatten. Wir wurden dann noch mehrfach barsch darauf hingewiesen, dass kein Platz wäre, und hinaus in das Gewitter geschickt.

Sehr schönes Ambiente, tolles Essen.

Leider haben sie mitten im Sommer, wenn die Stadt überfüllt ist, samstags von 14:00 bis 17:20 Uhr geschlossen. Genau diese Zeit würden Touristen gerne zum Mittagessen nutzen.

Unfreundliche Chefin lässt nachmittags niemanden in leeren Garten für 10min für ein Wasser, weil alles „reserviert“ ist

Einer der schönsten Orte in Bamberg. Die Aussicht auf die Stadt in direkter Nachbarschaft zum Kloster St. Michaelsberg ist wunderbar. Umso bedauerlicher finde ich, dass es in diesem Restaurant ein Detail gibt, das für mich überhaupt nicht zu diesem Ort passt. Auf den Toiletten hängen großformatige Aktfotos, auf die man völlig unvorbereitet trifft. Auf dem Damen-WC sind Rücken- und Halbakte zu sehen, auf dem Herren-WC vor allem weibliche Brüste. Die Bilder hängen nicht dezent an einer Stelle, sondern über den Pissoirs, in den Kabinen und bereits im Eingangsbereich der Toiletten. Wer die Toilette benutzt, kann ihnen praktisch nicht ausweichen. Ich bin keineswegs gegen Nacktheit oder Aktfotografie. Im Gegenteil: Ein moderner, sexpositiver Umgang mit Körpern bedeutet für mich gerade, dass Menschen selbst entscheiden können, wann und in welchem Kontext sie sich damit auseinandersetzen möchten. Hier fehlt diese Wahlmöglichkeit vollständig. Besonders betroffen gemacht hat mich die Reaktion der Kinder, mit denen ich dort war. Sie waren 11 und 13 Jahre alt und so verstört, dass sie die Toilette zunächst nicht benutzen wollten. Vor allem für sie war die Situation völlig unerwartet. Es gab für sie keine Möglichkeit, sich darauf vorzubereiten oder den Bildern auszuweichen. Mich enttäuscht das, weil dieser Ort ansonsten so viel Potenzial hat. In einem Restaurant, in dem auch Familien essen und feiern, wünsche ich mir einen Raum, in dem sich alle Menschen wohlfühlen können. Die aktuelle Gestaltung der Toiletten wirkt auf mich weder inklusiv noch zeitgemäß. Sie reproduziert vor allem klassische, heteronormative Vorstellungen davon, welche Körper betrachtet werden und für wen sie präsentiert werden. Schade. Die Aussicht und das Ambiente sind wunderschön. Gerade deshalb hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass dieser Ort auch in dieser Hinsicht offener, sensibler und einladender gestaltet wäre.

Auf den Toiletten hängen Geschmacklose Nacktbilder. Ohne Vorwarnung wird jeder Mensch, egal ob Kind oder erwachsen, der die Toiletten betritt mit der sexualisierung von vor allem weiblichen Körpern konfrontiert. Das ist nicht jugendfrei. Außerdem gab es keine Vorwarnung , dass auf der Toilette so etwas hängt. Also nichts gegen den Genuss von sexuellen Inhalten, aber wenn ich nicht zustimmen kann, (wenn auch soft-)pornografische Inhalte zu sehen, und einfach damit konfrontiert werde ist das übergriffig. Ganz nebenbei finde ich den Gedanken, dass Männer beim halten ihres besten Stücks nackte weibliche Oberkörper abstarren einfach nur ekelhaft. Muss das denn wirklich sein ????

Leider enttäuschend. Wurde uns oft empfohlen, aber leider werden alle Gäste anscheinend unterschiedlich behandelt. Obwohl wir nachgefragt haben, gab es kein Öl zu unserem Brot am Tisch, der Nachbartisch hat sofort welches erhalten. Der Service war ebenfalls eher kalt und unhöflich als zuvorkommend und nett. Das Essen war alles in allem gut, genauso wie das Ambiente. Schade, dass es so gelaufen ist, wir hoffen dass ist nicht immer so!

Sehr freundlicher Service und superleckere italienische Speisen Nur zu empfehlen

Wir hatten einen Tisch im Wintergarten mit einem wirklich schönen Blick. Ich hatte drei Gänge die mir grundsätzlich gut gefallen haben. Der gegrillte Calamari war nach meinem Geschmack leider total verpfeffert und hatte ansonsten kaum Aroma. Der Burrata als Vorspeise war sehr frisch und die Zabaione zur Nachspeise war mega! Mit einer sehr guten Weinauswahl konnten wir unser Essen perfekt abrunden. Der Service war uns gegenüber äußerst freundlich!

Nach sehr vielen Jahren fern von Bamberg hatten wir endlich wieder Gelegenheit, bei Francesco vorbeizuschauen. Einige Menükartenklassiker sind wie früher... das Saltimbocca ist einfach fantastisch. Sehr aufmerksamer und schneller Service, obwohl das Restaurant voll besetzt war. Und Francesco ist ein Gastgeber und Padrone, wie man ihn sich wünscht. Tipp: Digestif in der Champagnerbar. Danke für den wunderbaren Abend.

Wir waren hier im Rahmen unserers Bamberg Ausflugs Mittag zum Essen hier. Salat und Pizza waren gut, Platz haben wir auch ohne Reservierung bekommen. Hat soweit schon gepasst.

Ich war zum ersten Mal hier und bin leider enttäuscht gewesen. Das Lokal wurde mir sehr empfohlen. Die Chefin war eher derb als freundlich, die Nudeln recht geschmacksneutral. Man bekommt frisches Brot ohne irgendetwas dazu auf den Tisch gestellt. Das Ambiente ganz nett, im Sommer sicherlich toll, wenn man den Ausblick auf die Stadt hat. Die Stühle unbequem wenn man länger sitzt. Die Tische waren schön eingedeckt mit Tischdecke und Stoffserviertte. Das gefällt mir immer gut. Dennoch sind es für mich nicht mehr als 3 Sterne hier in der Bewertung.

Wie immer ein perfekter Genuss, super Weine

Der ganze Hype verstehe ich leider nicht ! Die Vorspeise war kalt - nachdem wir es zurück gegeben haben, ohne Probleme, war es nur warm. Der Branzino war durch - in gut deutsch Tot gebraten. Am Ende kam die Rechnung für den falschen Tisch. Ich habe versucht die Besitzerin es 2 mal zu sagen - nein - alles ✅ - in letzte Moment sagt sie oh sie haben recht. Ich hätte meinen Mund halten sollen und 120€ gesparrt 🙌 typisch arrogante „Italiener“ mit einen HYPE was ich in keine Weise nachvoll ziehen kann - sorry aber das Geld nicht wert ‼️ „NIE“ wieder 🙇

Wir waren schon öfter hier und kommen immer wieder gerne. Sehr schönes Ambiente und freundliches Personal. Das Essen ist total lecker und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt absolut. Auch die relativ neue Champagnerbar ist sehr gemütlich und rundet den Besuch perfekt ab. Klare Empfehlung!

Waren zu einer Geburtstagsfeier eingeladen. Service und Speisen waren vorzüglich, eine große Auswahl. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, die Torte zum Dessert ist sehr empfehlenswert. Es hat einfach Alles gepasst.

Vielen Dank an den Kellner Henry für die kompetente Service und Freundlichkeit. Der Empfang durch das Personal war sehr freundlich und auch bei der Bestellung wurden wir kompetent beraten. Das Essen kam sehr schnell. Das Gesamt-Ambiente kann man sogar als gemütlich/behaglich bezeichnen. Wir kommen gern wieder. Eine Reservierung ist ratsam. PS. Das schönste Restaurant in Bamberg!

Ein absolutes Muss für Liebhaber der italienischen Küche in Bamberg! Fantastisches Essen, tolles Ambiente und super Service! Die Preise sind ebenfalls sehr gut. Ich war mit meiner Mutter und einer Freundin von ihr dort. Als Vorspeise hatte ich gegrillten Oktopus, der so zart war wie Filet Mignon, gefolgt von fantastischen, hausgemachten Giarsoli, gefüllt mit Walnüssen und Ricotta. Zum Abschluss gab es Zabaione, das jetzt zu meinen absoluten Lieblingsdesserts zählt! Ich war zwar pappsatt, fühlte mich aber nicht so, als müsste ich danach aus dem Restaurant getragen werden. Einfach fantastisch!

Es war alles köstlich! Das Personal war sehr freundlich! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Nothing has changed over the years; it's still a pleasure to dine at Francesco's and his team's restaurant. The beef fillet with truffles is always delicious! Keep up the good work and maintain the high quality!

Good food/terrible service; the waiter spilled the bottle while serving, completely soaking the table and me. The tablecloth was only changed after I asked; before that, they simply covered it with a napkin. The apology was a perfunctory "Sorry," and that was it. I have rarely experienced such poor service.

We would have loved to go there for a meal. But unfortunately, there were no tables available. What a shame.

One can only congratulate Francesco on his restaurant. After not having been there for many years, we went again with friends and... we were all thrilled. Francesco recognized us immediately after all these years and greeted us most warmly. He was and is a true "old school" restaurateur, heart and soul, the kind you rarely find anymore. The service was perfect. The food was outstanding. From the appetizer to the main course to the dessert, every dish was a real culinary delight. A huge compliment to the kitchen! We enjoyed some excellent wines from the extensive selection of drinks to accompany our meal. The restaurant is furnished in such a way that you feel comfortable. The parking situation was difficult due to various city construction projects. But that's not Francesco's fault. The blame clearly lies with the city of Bamberg. The price-performance ratio is excellent. 100% recommendation

The entire team was incredibly welcoming, cheerful, and fully committed. The waiters joined in the celebration, were always attentive, and everything ran smoothly and seamlessly. The course menu was served to perfection, and individual requests for vegetarians, vegans, and children were, of course, accommodated. A great atmosphere, wonderful food, and the crowning glory is Francesco, who keeps everything running smoothly with his warm, bubbly manner. Of course, this can only work with good staff, and they have that too! You always feel comfortable, seen, and treated individually. Chapeau!

Mit einer kurzfristigen Reservierung, unter der Woche, an einem heißen Sommertag, genossen wir einen schönen italienischen Abend. Trotz vollem Hauses verlief der Service reibungslos und freundlich. Unsere drei Gänge waren ausgezeichnet zubereitet, unterstrichen mit einem guten Weiswein, temperiert im Weinkühler. Zum Abschluß gab es noch Limoncello und Grappa auf Kosten des Hauses, welches heutzutage nicht mehr selbstverständlich ist! Wir warten auf den nächsten lauen Sommerabend, an dem wir diesen wunderschönen Abend wiederholen können.

The food is good. Unfortunately, the attitude of the operators speaks for itself: The pleasant, small stage with a long tradition was simply closed down in favor of a "champagne bar." That's a way to destroy space for culture. It's a real shame, and very unpleasant for my taste. I used to really enjoy going to both the restaurant and the stage. Certainly not anymore.

Upscale ambience and fine cuisine in a fantastic location!!

Top notch, we were served grilled octopus, pizza, and pasta, all of which were delicious. This, with exceptional service, view, and interior design, pleased everyone at the table.

The food was very good. Unfortunately, the staff was very unfriendly: extra cutlery and drinks were announced in a very loud, assertive voice and slammed onto the table. A shame.

Despite reservations, we were kept waiting for over 45 minutes. Although the restaurant owner was friendly, he kept us waiting for an eternity instead of eventually admitting that the reservation had probably fallen through. We found something to eat at another restaurant.

A perfect evening that left nothing to be desired. As non-regulars, we got a very good table (left corner at the back of the winter garden) with a great view over Bamberg at night. Very attentive, very friendly, yet unobtrusive service. We will definitely come back there next time we visit Bamberg. The prices are definitely appropriate for the services!

Dear Francesco, Yesterday we had dinner with you. There was mussels as the main course. Mussels in white wine sauce were ordered. We got them in tomato sauce. I initially ignored this error. However, when I tried the tomato sauce, it was so heavily seasoned that the flavor of the mussels was lost. For dessert I ordered a zabaglione. What I got was a light brown undefined substance that tasted unpleasant. When I gave the cream back I ordered a nut parfait instead. In contrast to the soft cream, this was so rock hard that pieces of ice could only be broken out with great effort. The parfait must have come straight from the freezer to the plate. There were ice crystals in the middle. Typical for frozen goods that have already been thawed once. You came to our table and apologized and made a new zabaglione. This time the sugar was added. Unfortunately it only tasted slightly better. Wrong sauce for the mussels, zabaglione that tasted bitter and an unthawed parfait from the freezer. That you didn't at least buy a grappa. For us it would have been enough as a gesture of “reparation”. Please buy a few bottles. You'll need them next time you visit. Ciao

A visit to Francesco is always an experience – both culinary and human. His restaurant in Bamberg impresses with Italian authenticity, attention to detail and a wonderfully inviting atmosphere. Francesco himself is a person with a heart that you rarely meet - his manner characterizes the whole place. If you're looking for a real Italian lifestyle, you've come to the right place.

A very fine restaurant with super nice staff.

High atop the Michelsberg lies one of the best Italian restaurants I know. Francesco, a native Sicilian, and Ramona, his right-hand woman, are natural hosts with a great love for their Italian homeland and its cuisine. The ambiance is pleasant, with beautifully set tables and friendly waiters – you immediately feel at home. The service is attentive but not intrusive, and the food is simply brilliant. "Only the best of the simple," all without frills, is how I would describe the cuisine. Unusual, unusual dishes, such as the grilled scarmoza with pear cream, demonstrate that the chef knows their craft perfectly. And the pasta cooked al dente (not everyone can do it) with a tasty sausage ragù is simply delicious in its simplicity and depth of flavor. If you know the basics, you can also prepare meat and fish to perfection. Add to that an unusual wine list (we were thrilled with the Tomaresca Chardonnay from Apulia). All in all, we had a wonderful evening, which culminated in your perfect zabaione with delicious Marsala. Simple again...and we miss it so much in many Italian restaurants. My friend Michel wasn't exaggerating with his recommendation, especially since the price/quality ratio is simply excellent. We'll definitely be back—at the very latest when the most beautiful garden terrace in the cathedral city opens. Thanks to the whole team.

We celebrated our dream wedding at Francesco's. From the preparation and the rehearsal dinner to the wedding itself - everything was perfect. Francesco and his team enabled us to have a free outdoor wedding ceremony and then enjoyed an excellent dinner. The service was friendly and even during the day, our every wish was read from our lips and fulfilled spontaneously. We couldn't have painted it better. THANKS!

Had a pizza Francesco. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it's a bit small and thinly topped. The taste was ok. The location is great and the service is fast.

The food was fantastic. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to sit outside. It was relatively loud, but that can be attributed to the rooms. Old house, round arches, lots of hall. So it can't be prevented. As I said, the food was very good, the service was very attentive and friendly. Any time. I can definitely recommend it. 😃

On the first day of our 3-day city visit to Bamberg, we visited the Ristorante da Francesco on Michelsberg for lunch and were thrilled: by the cozy atmosphere in the garden under shady trees and with a view over the city, by the menu (varied!), by the food itself (everything was fresh, very tasty and visually appealing!) and, above all, by the friendliness and diligence of the service staff (including the boss himself), who rearranged tables especially for us so that we could sit in the shade. Our stop there was a highlight at the start of our first day in Bamberg. If we come to this beautiful city again, we will definitely stop by Francesco again.

I defiantly didn’t bust over it go to Schlenkerla instead.
