Delicious pizza. Very friendly staff.

It's abysmal what people sometimes say when browsing the comments here. Let's be honest, the owners have been in the restaurant for almost 30 years, and that speaks for itself. If the mood is already at rock bottom due to their own dissatisfaction, and they're willing to be treated like they're at a fast-food restaurant and demand portions that promise more quantity than quality, then my advice to those who visit a packed restaurant with a prime location, only staffed by humans and no robots, with no one to talk to, and are also completely starving and almost dying of thirst, would be to simply drive to the big M in the immediate vicinity. I'm sorry, but people are surprised these days that there are no more staff, and everyone is ranting about the bad things. Your fingers are quick to type. The positive things get forgotten or taken for granted. The grumpy waiter certainly doesn't help the restaurant's business, but at the end of the day, he's just a human being with all his facets. To be honest, sometimes I prefer someone like that to someone who walks around the store like a Cheshire cat. The fact that they've been there for years shows that they're loyal and reliable, and the owners can rely on them. Regarding the entire staff, I suspect that in stressful situations, they don't mean any harm by accommodating customers, certainly often including special requests, but rather simply do their job.

Very poor service, food only a 5/10. The best thing is the music.

We waited a bit long for the main course, but the pizza made up for it. Beautiful location, fantastic outdoor area with a fountain and cozy pergola. Apparently, many visitors from the surrounding Rindell and Wiese are just getting a drink without having to consume it in the restauran. A nice touch, one that could probably only work in Beuel. 🫶🏻

There are some very good, but small, pasta dishes. The pizza is average. The salads are forgettable. The service is really, really bad. We sometimes had to order drinks three times before something was served. I asked if I could have a goat cheese as an extra for my salad. They then charged me €13 for an entire additional dish, including a goat cheese.

My visit to Kanale Grande was unfortunately a huge disappointment. Even the appetizer, a carpaccio, didn't seem fresh – the edges were already discolored. For my main course, I chose a pizza that was neither tasty nor textured: The base was hard, barely cooked, and more reminiscent of cardboard than a freshly made pizza. I particularly remember the service negatively. The older waiter was extremely unfriendly, and his behavior seemed disrespectful to me and my companion. This didn't create a pleasant atmosphere – on the contrary, it made you want to leave as quickly as possible. Overall, the visit was disappointing, especially because I was there with friends and had hoped for a pleasant evening. I therefore cannot recommend the restaurant. In my opinion, both the food and the service urgently need improvement.

There's so much more that could be done with this beautiful place. It's a real shame! The waiter was irritated and unfriendly. The gin and tonic was meager, and the quality was at best standard. My friend's starter was old. His Margherita pizza was incredibly dry, with very little cheese. My pizza was okay.

Too expensive for so little, simple food! No service, and if there is, it's poor! NOT RECOMMENDED!

I went there for the first time today. I'm an absolute pasta fan. The best pasta I've had in years in a typical Italian bistro. Salt on the pasta while cooking...wonderful. Delicious Gorgonzola on the veal. I would just like an older balsamic vinegar to dress the salad. But since the service is so attentive and friendly, I can bring it with me. The atmosphere there is one I'd like to experience many more times. Thanks to the entire, super-friendly staff.

This evening we ate at the restaurant. The place is truly beautiful. We had bruschetta as a small starter. It was abysmally bad. Very small, tasteless, and completely dry. Then we had pizza. It was probably the worst pizza I've eaten in a long time. Barely any toppings and absolutely tasteless. I had lasagna with salad. The lasagna was also abysmal. The salad was undressed and completely insignificant. Unfortunately, the food is not worth the money at all. The experience is topped off by the unfriendly service. If you've ever eaten in Italy, you know what it's like. A completely grumpy, unfriendly waiter, who was obviously the boss, took the money. It was clear to us that we would never eat here again. This is a real shame, as the place is beautiful.

I would not recommend this restaurant under any circumstances. It is a waste of money. The service is simply abysmal; I have never experienced such unfriendly service. We ordered for four people. Three meals arrived but the others were served at the wrong table. Nobody cared for a long time. Then suddenly the fourth meal was in front of me and my friend had already finished eating. The meal for three people was served to the fourth person at the wrong table. No apology. The food was slammed on the table. Dessert was ordered with coffee. The coffee arrived, but the dessert came when the coffee was cold, or rather, finished. In the end we had to argue over an open drink which we definitely did not order and which was distorted but was supposedly on the bill. Unbelievable, I have never experienced anything like this before. They should do better business.

We paid €14 for two cappuccinos that tasted terrible and came in dirty cups, and two bottles of water from Aldi! The lady at the counter wasn't friendly. The only nice thing is the view of the Rhine. But it's better to bring your own drink from the discount store and find a nice spot by the Rhine.

Dear operators, don't you think that €16.50 for two 0.33-liter bottles of water from a discount store, served in plastic bottles without glasses, and a watery "wine spritzer" from a vending machine is absolutely outrageous?!

Disappointing Experience – Unfriendly Service Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant visit. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted with eye rolls – a behavior that seemed anything but inviting. After that, we were completely ignored. When we politely asked for a glass of water (really necessary in the current heat), we received a curt "yes" – but nothing ever came. Later, a waiter approached us with his hands in his pockets and spoke to us in a rude tone. The overall demeanor seemed annoyed and disinterested. We seriously wondered why someone would work in service if they were so obviously unhappy. Unfortunately, this is not a place where you feel comfortable. A real shame.

I really enjoy eating here - there are days and times when it's better to make a reservation. When the weather is nice, I just love sitting outside and I can highly recommend pizza pasta dishes. Also dessert - also nice to drink a cappuccino in the afternoon.

At the beginning I ordered a small salad, after 40 minutes it was delivered. Dressing 0825 carrot wheel dark brown. Afterwards I ate a pizza that I will remember for a long time. Just mud in the middle. could hardly be picked up with the fork This restaurant is not recommended.

The food was really tasty, though At the beginning I received a dirty fork, which of course shouldn't happen. At least I kindly pointed out to the waiter that I could get a new fork, which was done quickly and without comment. However, an unpleasant situation later arose: the waiter insisted that I had ordered drinks, which I had not ordered, even though there were three of us at the table and everyone present could confirm this. Instead of responding in an accommodating or solution-oriented manner, he behaved very inflexibly and not very customer-oriented, even cheeky! Unfortunately, that spoiled the otherwise very nice impression of the evening. Never take your bad mood out on your guests!

A beautiful place for an Easter Monday lunch under blooming clematis and gisteria with a view of the Rhine! The two pasta dishes - my father had a classic Lasagna Emiliana, I had the Tagliatelle Pisane with lamb and eggplant - tender, fat- and sinew-free pieces of meat and the same cubes of vegetables in tomato sauce - delicious and surprisingly perfect for a restaurant! The service, however, was less perfect, even though we arrived after the lunch rush and there wasn't much going on on the terrace. Unfortunately, the fact that we wanted to sit under the umbrella caused frowns. I had to ask three times for my white wine and the side salad didn't come at all. The student (?) waitresses couldn't help it, they seemed new and weren't allowed, even if they wanted to. Claudio was clearly not in a good mood - it's a shame. We'll still come back for the pasta.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon in February, the five of us spontaneously stopped by for coffee and cake on the terrace. The waiter was harsh and unfriendly, the cappuccino was almost inedible, the apple strudel was cold and the apple cake was sticky. The only bright spot: We sat nicely in the sun and close to the Rhine promenade.

Disappointing visit – unfortunately not recommended The two of us were in the restaurant today, the weather was nice and the terrace was full. At 4:45 p.m. we politely asked for the menu, but were abruptly told by the waiter that it wouldn't be available until 5 p.m. The interaction was unnecessarily unfriendly. The first Aperol arrived quickly - but the taste was completely wrong: watery, without sparkling wine, just not good. After that we were ignored for a long time. We were only allowed to order anything to eat after we politely asked - without any apology and still in a very rude tone. The starter came after a while and tasted okay, but unspectacular. “Pastamisto” sounded promising, but only consisted of three fairly simple pasta bites and a small piece of bread. At 6:30 p.m. - an hour and a half after ordering - we asked for the main course. We had been forgotten. In this context we ordered another Aperol, which was never brought. There was no reaction or explanation to this either. When the pizzas finally came after almost two hours, the disappointment was great: the rocket pizza was dry and tasted boring. The pepperoni pizza came with exactly three pepperoni and seemed just as bland. At the end we had to ask for the bill four times. When it finally came, it was flawed - wrong positions, wrong courts. We are aware that it was busy - but that does not excuse the poor service or poor organization. It's a shame because the place is actually beautifully located. Due to this experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend the visit.

It's actually a wonderful place to sit with a view of the Rhine. It's a shame that the service (quite friendly) isn't working. The waffles we ordered (good choice) came well before the coffee and that came quite late.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday there. As always, the food was plentiful and very tasty. We had our wedding buffet made back then and it was eaten in no time. What I mean to say is that we have been eating there for a long time and will do so again and again. I can only recommend it to anyone who loves Italian cuisine. Thanks to Franco and Rosella and their team.

I've been going there with my family for years!

A successful family celebration for us, the children and grandchildren. Even though you shouldn't reveal secrets, this is an insider tip. Finest Italian cuisine. This chef has the right taste on his tongue. Maybe a star chef. The service was always attentive and super child-friendly. The view of the Rhine from the restaurant is fantastic and that alone is worth a trip. We'll definitely be back. Another tip, I would make a reservation.

I should have read the comments before the disaster. Welcome to the Italian service desert. A very strange shop that has obviously missed all the developments of the last 25 years. But first things first: During our walk we wanted to stop there for a Kölsch. We waited 30 minutes for the Kölsch. Patient. Other people just walked in. They may have fared a little better. Card payment with the EC card is only possible from €15. Despite the miserable service, we wanted to leave a tip. Was rejected. We then suggested that guests at the next table pay for their drinks and use their cash to cover our bill. Was rejected. For some flimsy reason. I later found out that the boss gave instructions not to allow payments. So there were no technical restrictions at all, it was just the boss's order. We didn't get to know the good lady. But it is probably also the cause of the catastrophic service attitude. But maybe she can do good pizza? Of course we didn't even order them. The end of the story: we then returned to the car and had to drive to an ATM. Quite a lot of detours for two drinks.

25 waiting time until I was registered, even though I asked if I could sit down - then 7 euros for a soup that had nothing to do with pumpkin soup (bag soup or cream soup?). Dry bread. Unfortunately, absolutely no recommendation from me.

Als ich vor 10 Jahren nach einigen Jahren in Italien versuchte hier glutenfrei zu essen, in Italien eine Selbstverständlichkeit, war meine Auswahl noch sehr gering. Nun habe ich mit Freude erfahren, dass es hier inzwischen glutenfreie Pizza gibt, und sie war sehr lecker - ich komme ganz bestimmt jetzt regelmäßig!

We can only recommend the restaurant to anyone who is in Bonn. The quality of the food is unbeatable and incredibly delicious. This is a REAL Italian.

We went to the Canal Grande for the New Year's Eve menu yesterday and were absolutely thrilled! Everything was perfect, from the table decorations to the service to the food and our own fireworks. The menu was excellent! There was a sophisticated five-course menu and also a greeting from the kitchen, a lucky soup after midnight and a fresh panettone. Because of various intolerances, Franco even conjured up my own customized, delicious menu! We felt completely at home and would love to come back this year!

The place is satisfactory for drinks on the go. You wait a long time for the food. The older waiter is not very proactive or service-oriented. When asked when the food would come, he just shrugged his shoulders. The pizza was delicious, the bruchetta was very little for the price and the salad was carelessly prepared. The pizza wasn't bad, but it wasn't any better either. The service was mediocre at best, the older gentleman was borderline rude and the two pretty girls were just pretty. With a bill of €120 (4 people) you start to wonder whether it would be better to go somewhere else.

rude and unprofessional never again After 5 years we wanted to give the Grand Canal a new chance. Unfortunately it went wrong again. The service is oh well. At the beginning, bread is placed on the table. No oil, no dip or anything else. You can then leave that out. The pizza lacked seasoning, it was almost cold and soggy. The price-performance ratio is not right

We were there again for wine tasting. It was once again a thoroughly successful evening. Franco created an excellent Piedmont-themed menu to match the wine and Rosella served us perfectly. We will be back.

Nice location. But that's really all. The food is absolutely unworthy of an Italian restaurant! Bruschetta: three small burnt slices of white bread with a salad decoration that looked as if some green parts had been briefly torn up on the side of the road. The noodles: definitely not homemade. The pizza: incredibly tasteless. I have never eaten such a bad pizza that had no seasoning. This is about the tourist processing of people and the operators are happy if you leave quickly after paying to sell the catastrophic food to the next person. Overall, not recommended! It's a shame about this beautiful location!!!

Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmt hier nicht. Für 15 Euro ein Tagesgericht Spaghetti mit Käse und Pfeffer versprochen, bekommen aber nur trockene Spaghetti. Auch der gemischte Salat nur minderwertig und eher trocken, um 4 Scheiben trockenes Brot musste man betteln, Pizza nur mäßig belegt und eher klein. Bedienung sehr unfreundlich, jede Frage schien zu viel.

First of all: I absolutely cannot understand the negative reviews here. The food was good - we had ravioli with truffles, mozzarella caprese and tiramisu - and the service was really warm and accommodating. We were particularly impressed by the family friendliness (it was easy to change diapers for our newborn and discreet breastfeeding was no problem). Overall, the ambience is also nice with a view of the wisteria pergola and the Rhine. We'd love to come back :)

Located at a nice location, on Rhine promenade. Superb view outside. Can choose inside or outside sitting. Prompt service, nice ambience. Being a vegetarian on gluten free diet, it was nice to see lots of choices of gluten free pizza.

Not even worth a star, waited an hour for a coke and another 30 minutes for a pizza that wasn't right, the waiter's statement is now just like that. Been there for the first and last time!!! Of course I mentioned it, his argument was that there were new staff and not enough staff and he couldn't do anything about it, I'm just as sorry! Save yourself the money and buy a pizza at Aldi.

This was our second time in this restaurant and we were very satisfied the second time too. The Bruschetta Napoletana and of course the pizza are particularly recommended. Don't understand all the negative reviews here. We'll definitely be back 👍🏻

Five stars for the location. The food was bad. The Gorgonzola for which we paid was missing from the pizza and it was not seasoned. Both the older gentleman downstairs and the lady upstairs didn't seem to value customers. I won't go here again. The price for a bland spinach pizza: 14 euros.

We always like to go to the Grand Canal. The pasta is great, our children love the pizza - simply delicious. In addition to the great food, we especially appreciate the warm and friendly service. And you also have a great view of the Rhine!

Beautifully located restaurant on the Rhine. Unfortunately the service was catastrophic. We waited 40 minutes for the drink after asking several times. After an hour it was discovered that the food had been forgotten to be set in the PC.

Very good pizza! It's really great..... Pasta dishes are not my taste there... but tastes are different. The pizza definitely deserves 5 stars + :-) The service is very warm and could hardly be better.

Wir waren dort an einem sonnigen Sonntagmorgen. Als Öffnungszeit war dort 11:00 Uhr an der Ladentüre angegeben. Leider begann das Personal erst zu dieser Zeit die Sitzplätze im Außenbereich vorzubereiten, sodass es erst 20 min später möglich war dort platz zu nehmen. Auf die Nachfrage nach zwei, drei weiteren Plätzchen (die zum Kaffee hinzugegeben worden), bekamen wir die Antwort, dass diese für je zwei € gekauft werden können. Als wir dies dann ablehnten haben wir zwei weitere Plätzchen erhalten und nicht berechnet bekommen. Die Art und Weise wie an diesem Morgen mit uns als Kunden umgegangen wurde, fanden wir leider nicht besonders gastfreundlich. Das bezieht sich nicht nur auf die Plätzchen. Zum Essen kann keine Auskunft gegeben werden. Das Lokal ist sehr schön gelegen, der Service war allerdings enttäuschend.

Es war ein sonniger Sonntag mit einer sehr leckeren Pizza, Jever Fun, netter Bedienung, sauberer Toilette.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, aber das Personal überfordert und unfreundlich. Man wurde fast schon ignoriert. Die Lage ist toll. Aber das alleine reicht mir nicht.

Man sitzt hier ruhig am Rhein, die bedienende junge Frau ist s.nett+umsichtig. Pizzen top+faire Preise...was will man mehr.

Hallo, war heute Nachmittag im Canal Grande, habe mehr als 20 Minuten gewartet, bis eine Bedienung kam. Natürlich wollte ich irgendwann mal bezahlen, beim ersten Versuch wurde mir gesagt, Kollege kommt gleich, kam nach langem Warten nicht, der zweite Versuch wurde nach langem Warten belohnt. Der ältere Herr knallte mir die Rechnung auf den Tisch, einfach sowas von unfreundlich, das hatte ich dort noch nie erlebt! Er sollte aufhören zu arbeiten, er zerstört die sonst so schöne Atmosphäre total. Natürlich gab ich kein Trinkgeld, er kramte lange im Portemonnaie, um mir möglichst viel Kleingeld zu geben. Hab den Eindruck, einige Lokale brauchen wieder eine Coronazeit,um wieder freundlicher zu werden. Traurig, das zu sagen 😥

Schöne Location an der Rheinpromenade. Service war freundlich und gut! Essen war eher durchschnittlich, gibt bessere Italiener, aber natürlich nicht so schön gelegen. Preislich eher der Lage als der Qualität gerecht. Zum Verweilen am Rhein sicherlich zu empfehlen.

Ich muss sagen das Ambiente draußen mit dem Blick auf den Rhein ziemlich schön. Dennoch gab es sehr lange Wartezeiten und das Essen war auch was teurer. Als Beispiel: Tomaten Mozzarella 12€. Essen hatte zudem auch nicht wirklich viel geschmeckt und kam in kleineren Portionen als gewohnt. Alles in allem schon enttäuschend.

Die Lage am Rhein ist schön, aber essen werden wir künftig woanders. Hier wird überteuertes, qualitativ schlechtes Essen serviert.

Der Pizzateig wird mit den günstigsten Zutaten und viel Wasser zubereitet. Deshalb schmeckt die Pizza leider so unglaublich schlecht, wie man sie nur noch selten in Großstädten finden kann. Service war in Ordnung. Dieser Laden lebt ausschließlich von seiner top Lage bei gutem Wetter. Hoffe, dass dort bald ein neuer Betreiber reingeht, vorher werden wir dort nicht mehr essen.

Wunderschöner Platz mit Sicht auf den Rhein. Auch am Abend noch lange Sonne 🌞. Essenstechnisch konnte nur der Toscana-Salat mit Melone überzeugen hierfür 5 Sterne. Die anderen Speisen waren langweilig und unambitioniert. Da kann ein mittelmäßig begabter Mensch ein schmackhafteres Gericht zuhause herstellen (Garnelen in Knoblauch (Vorspeise), Nudeln mit Safransauce, Bandnudeln mit Lachs und Spargel) - wenig Gemüse, kaum gewürzt besser gesagt fad...leider denke ich man muss Glück haben, wer in der Küche steht. Auch die Saftschorle war für 5,50 € sehr wässrig. Service insgesamt nachlässig und unfreundlich

Das Essen war alles andere als gut. Kein Geschmack, calzone fast nur Teig und zu guter Letzt war mir im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes kotzübel nach dem Essen 🤮 Schade, dass man bei so ner Lage bei italienischem Essen so viel falsch machen kann.
