Restaurant Waldhäuschen in Karlshagen

Unfortunately we only went to this wonderful little restaurant twice for dinner. The landlord was super friendly. I ate a large baked trout there twice and was thrilled with the taste. The portions were far too big for us, so I left out the potatoes and just had them with a salad. My wife had eaten a huge schnitzel, but unfortunately couldn't finish it. The prices were the toughest. Where else can you get such tasty food today for so little money? We can warmly recommend the restaurant. It's better to reserve.

Update 2024: Still very tasty food and friendly staff. The innkeeper always has a casual saying. :-) We visited the restaurant on our Baltic Sea trip based on the previous good reviews. With a reservation it worked the next day, as it is always very fully booked and is a small restaurant. The service is very friendly, open-minded and the food is top and really homemade. That's why we came here a second time. A real ***** insider tip!

We were here at the beginning of October and had reserved a table. But since we were already curious beforehand, we managed to get a table outside twice beforehand. The food was great and actually deserves 6 stars. 😜 The boss is funny and charming and we felt very comfortable there. The portions were really big and we will definitely be back. But be sure to reserve in advance, as the price/performance ratio is unbeatable... 🥰🤪✌️ You guys are great...

We decided to go to Essen at the end of our vacation in Karlshagen and came across the Waldhäuschen restaurant because of the many positive reviews. It's a nice, cozy and small restaurant. Reservation is absolutely necessary, especially if you want your four-legged friend to come with you. Yesterday we ordered a table for 4 people and a dog in the first round. The Kellern always had a nice saying at hand, which created a good atmosphere in the restaurant. 😉 The food was super delicious 😋 and the plates were prepared with a lot of love. Kudos to the chef. The price-performance ratio is also right. I can highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely visit the Waldhäuschen again if we end up in Karlshagen again.

The restaurant is very small and there are only a few tables. It was good that we made reservations beforehand. Some guests asked during the evening and were told off for another day. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The fries were terrific. The service was friendly. However, the humor seemed a bit forced.

Went to this restaurant on a recommendation, unfortunately only on the last day of our vacation. The food was absolutely great, very, very tasty, large portions and special requests were also fulfilled. We felt like welcome guests. Thank you for the lovely evening. Keep it up!!!!

We were in Karlshagen for the third time. After we didn't make a reservation last time and unfortunately didn't get a place, we made a reservation this time and were so excited that we made a reservation for this holiday a second time. It's been a long time since I've had such a good meal outside, very nice boss, great food and very cozy. We will definitely come back on our next Usedom vacation. Unfortunately, 5 stars is the end of it, otherwise I would give more. Many greetings to the team at the Waldhäuschen!!!Keep it up

The cod was great, as was the wine. Prices like everywhere else here. The waiter is a source of inexhaustible happiness 😊. During the season you won't be able to go here without pre-ordering as everything is quite small. We sat outside, it was ok.

A real insider tip! We had the pleasure of enjoying fish that was cooked to perfection. The quality of the food was outstanding and it tasted fantastic. The innkeeper was extremely friendly and attentive - a really great guy who made us feel welcome. The restaurant is definitely an insider tip that you have to recommend. We were particularly impressed by the excellent price-performance ratio, which is rarely found in this form. We'll definitely be back!

We were on vacation in Karlshagen and spent our last evening eating in the Waldhäuschen. Too bad it was the last evening. The food was very good, the service was very good. If we had known this sooner, we would have stopped there more often. Maybe on your next vacation. For the future, keep it up and stay healthy!

The Waldhäuschen is one of our favorite restaurants. We are always welcomed very friendly and accommodating, and the food is always very tasty! We can absolutely recommend a visit, but it's best to reserve in advance!

We have been to this small but nice restaurant several times. At the end of our vacation we were there again today. As always, it was a culinary experience, not to mention the always friendly and courteous staff. It's very hard to find anything like this these days. We noticed the forest house by chance and were able to pre-order a table relatively quickly. We received a very friendly welcome at the agreed time and from then on it was a great evening: great ambience, delicious food and an attentive boss who did the service at the front with fun and charm as well as a relaxed saying 😂. The Waldschenke - small, on the edge of the forest, space for only a few guests. That's why you should reserve in good time! The fact that the store is so fully booked is not just because there are few spaces. But also the quality of the food. Here we cook with love and the aim of giving the guest a feeling of appreciation. The food is really, really good! The schnitzel is phenomenal, as are the fried potatoes. The salad is not a run-of-the-mill salad but is prepared with care and love. There is also a delicious vainigrette! The service is warm, extremely friendly and in a good mood. The man who brings the schnitzels to the table is just super nice and funny! Anyone who hasn't been to Waldhäuschen has clearly missed something in Karlshagen. Namely something extremely nice and delicious!!! Be sure to stop by. It's definitely worth it!

A very nice old / rustic restaurant, service was very good, small selection of the menu, but something for everyone. Fresh fish, freshly prepared food. Definitely worth imagining, very good price/performance ratio. Will be a highlight of every holiday. I had the trout, very crispy, great as a fish dinner, I left some left over for the waiter🤣 he thought it was funny. Ang. Had steak and fried fish, everyone was very satisfied. The journey from the Ore Mountains was worth it. Service very relaxed and funny. Every wish will be fulfilled.

Authentic and high quality restaurant After we were frustrated with overpriced and poor quality in the surrounding restaurant, we were more than compensated at the Waldhäuschen. I don't even know where to start... The restaurant is run by a young couple. He in the service, she in the kitchen. Super authentic, funny, relaxed and just likeable. The meal was a pure culinary delight. We enjoyed talking to Danilo, the owner, about the food offered and used. Everything is fresh, regional and of first class quality - and you can TASTE it. Price-performance ratio is tip-top. Clear recommendation - be sure to make your reservation in good time 😉. Be sure to keep it up!!!

We ate in the forest cottage during our vacation. The owner was very nice and relaxed, the food was on the table quickly and very tasty! Absolutely recommended. In terms of price it was also completely okay. But it's better to have a reservation, otherwise it's a matter of luck whether you get space.

We went there on August 6th, 2024 and can only confirm the good opinions of other visitors. Choosing the dishes probably took longer than preparing them 😂 the menu is small but very clear and still has something for every taste. And the price is actually almost too cheap for the quality and size of the portions. In short, very tasty, highly recommended 👍👍👍 and be sure to reserve in advance. Would love to come back. We ate here several times at the end of July/beginning of August. The food is very, very tasty. Highly recommended is the wild mushroom soup with pierogies and, if they are available on the menu, the beef ribs and wild boar brawn. You have to enjoy something so delicate. The innkeeper always has a funny saying up his sleeve. The dining room is small, but very comfortable. The outdoor terrace also invites you to linger. That's why you have to make a reservation.

We were there for dinner. Important, be sure to reserve in good time. During the holiday season it is difficult to spontaneously find a place for several people. Two of us were lucky, but we were there right away when it opened. There is no card payment, which is well signposted so you won't be surprised. If necessary, there is a savings bank around the corner. We got there on foot, otherwise there are parking spaces on the main street and two in front of the door. You sit outside on the street, but it was very quiet. The service is super friendly and always has a nice saying to say. Our meal took a total of an hour with starter and main course, which was great time as there were several guests there. Food was very tasty and inexpensive, I would have paid a euro more ;) We can only recommend it and will definitely come back :)

Today we spontaneously got a place for the two of us with a dog. The service was very friendly and had a pleasant sense of humor. We followed the recommendation of the day when eating. The fish soup and the wild boar brawn were really worth it, and the well-known dishes are also highly recommended. Would love to come back.

On our last day of vacation in Karlshagen we wanted to go out for a nice meal with our son. We noticed the small restaurant the day before, but it's not immediately visible. So we decided that we would go out for dinner there at the end. When we arrived, the owner greeted us in a friendly manner, unfortunately everything was reserved but he told us that we should come back in half an hour. When we arrived back at the restaurant after a half-hour walk through the city, we were warmly welcomed a second time and there was a table available for us. So it's better to reserve!!! The food was simply delicious, I ate one of my best schnitzels, you can tell straight away that the food is freshly prepared. You can only guarantee something like this if you don't start piling up the guests, then you can maintain this quality. All the Greek or Italian restaurants don't do that, there is always space there but you can tell by the quality of the food and the quick, impersonal processing. In the forest cottage you are a guest, holidaymaker and friend. If we could we would give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! CLEAR RECOMMENDATION!!! ‼️ We'll be back‼️ ⚓️WE SAY THANK YOU

Great food, we were a group of eleven people, everything was absolutely delicious, and especially the Thuringian Rostbrätel was great. Very funny and nice service. This will immediately become a must-visit on holiday every year. For and the best we have eaten in years.

First you have to highlight the service and the ambience. The owner himself is a great guy. Super friendly, knowledgeable in his field and always up for a laugh. The service works smoothly and promptly. Now the negative part: Unfortunately I decided on the Tühringer Rostbrätel. The taste of the meat was slightly strange. I didn't think anything of it and ate it with my sister. The rude awakening came during the night. The entire meal came back out with the side dish. The next day didn't get any better. Since we could barely stand, we immediately went to a doctor with the help of a friend. He diagnosed us with food poisoning. It's a shame because we always enjoyed visiting the store. Unfortunately, after we telephoned the owner, there were no suggestions for compensation. We don't expect anything big but an apology should have come. Unfortunately, a few regulars missed him. Too bad.

We found this great restaurant on the day we arrived in Karlshagen via Google Maps because we were spontaneously hungry in the evening. A quick call, which was a good thing, because they were actually reserved, but the really nice host said, just come by, we'll squeeze you in somewhere. The food tastes really good, the service is first class and the prices are really fair. The seasoned meat is particularly recommended. My husband and I like to eat a lot and we eat out very often, but nowhere has the spiced meat been better than here 🙂 (and we have eaten it in many restaurants 🤣🙈). A reservation ideally 1 to 2 days in advance is strongly recommended, especially during the high season. We crowned our holiday again today with another visit here and can say that it wasn't a coincidence recently, everything seems to be delicious here, and as already mentioned, the funny and relaxed, nice innkeeper rounds off the overall picture well and takes care of everything for well-being across the board 🙂👍. Needless to say, we will definitely come back (next year 🥺), we love Usedom, Karlshagen and have found our favorite restaurant here 👍🥳 Update 2024: We were here again today, and this time again it was an absolute dream!

We were at the Waldhäuschen for dinner on May 1st. Since we were with a dog (a very dog-friendly restaurant, by the way), I had reserved the table by phone before our vacation (you should definitely do that). Very nice little restaurant, very nice decor, perfect and friendly service (the boss), his very nice wife is the cook. We had pierogi as a starter and schnitzel and cod fillet as main courses, everything was very, very tasty and really nicely presented, big compliments to the cook! :-) Since we liked it so much, we made reservations again for May 6th, together with 2 friends and it was perfect again. Price/performance absolutely perfect! For us, the Waldhäuschen was by far the best restaurant in Karlshagen. Keep it up!

Really a great and delicious surprise!!! The reservation (recommended) by telephone was uncomplicated and we were even called back!!! The landlord was extremely friendly and customer-oriented, the food was really tasty and at a fair price! They make an effort here and are happy to come back as guests! Good to know: Dogs are allowed, subject to prior agreement when making the reservation :)
