Restaurant Waldhäuschen in Karlshagen

A small, cozy restaurant a bit off the main street. The ambiance is great, the quality of the food is more than good. The price/performance ratio is also positive. What's most noteworthy, however, is the service. We were served by a friendly young man (probably the boss). He's attentive and always has a joke up his sleeve. We'll be happy to come back.

This year we are on holiday in Karlshagen for the second time. We ate at the Waldhäuschen again this time, and it was truly delicious. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant; keep up the good work.

We ate here several times during our summer vacation. It's a small, cozy restaurant, so reservations are essential. In summer, you can also sit on the covered terrace. The owner is very friendly and always has a funny saying on his lips. The food is very, very delicious. The cook really does a great job. The beef ribs and the wild mushroom soup are highly recommended.

As regular holidaymakers in Karlshagen, we rarely go out to eat. However, we will visit this restaurant again next time. Incredibly delicious food (we had the goulash), very generous portion sizes, and a very friendly and attentive waiter, who is also the owner. Small but perfectly formed, as the saying goes! Very good, freshly prepared food in a filling amount, beautifully presented. I think it's worth waiting for a reservation. With a bit of luck, you'll get a seat in between, but I still recommend reserving a table in advance. The service is very friendly and informal. It's a great place to end your evening.

We received a very warm welcome, and the appetizers (e.g., beetroot carpaccio) immediately won us over with their flavor and attention to detail. The schnitzel with fries was superb. All fresh ingredients, the best feta cheese I've ever eaten, and the pierogi as an appetizer were top-notch. This is a restaurant run with a lot of heart and soul. Thank you, Danilo and team. A very nice and friendly waiter who is also the owner (a great guy). You just have to make a reservation in advance. We were very lucky; we called and wanted to make a reservation, but unfortunately, we couldn't reach anyone. We called back in the afternoon, unfortunately, with a cancellation because everything was full. But luck was on our side, and he called us again 15 minutes later because he had received a cancellation, and as a result, we had a lovely evening and our last day of vacation with a fantastic dinner. From the outside, it's rather unassuming, and the ambiance doesn't match the super delicious food and the incredibly friendly service. Whether it was fish or meat, we were completely satisfied. Reservations are recommended.

We can only confirm the previous statements and reviews. We just drove up on a whim and asked for a seat. The waiter quickly checked and allowed us to enjoy the delicious food there. The service was wonderful, and the waiter actually had time to chat with us. Here we can say: Service, location, and food - 👍👍👍👍

Very tasty food, highly recommended!

The Thuringian roast beef is a must-try! Two large slices of meat with generous amounts of onions, fried potatoes, and a side salad. The flavor is dreamy, right down to the salad dressing. The chef serves, the lady cooks, and everyone is super friendly and chatty. If I'm ever at the Baltic Sea again, the Waldhäuschen will be a must-visit. The Waldhäuschen in Karlshagen truly lives up to its name. It's not particularly large, and you have to reserve a table in advance, but it's really, really worth it! The food was plentiful and delicious for a reasonable price. The service was above and beyond good, and the owner is always up for a laugh. In my opinion, it's an insider tip in Karlshagen. Despite the relatively full house, five of us managed to get a table without a reservation at short notice. The service was super friendly and very attentive, the food arrived relatively quickly and was absolutely delicious. However, during the season, I would recommend everyone to reserve a table in advance.

The food was super delicious; hospitality is still very important here. Unfortunately, we're no longer able to make a reservation. We wanted to eat at 7:00 p.m., but that wasn't possible, according to the phone call; only 7:30 p.m. That would be too late when we got there. We didn't accept the offer to be squeezed in.

The food is delicious, and the owner is a wonderful host who genuinely cares about his guests and enjoys his work. The menu isn't too extensive. In my experience, many restaurants along the coast focus more on a thick menu and then don't really cook anything. It's different here. The cuisine is truly top-notch for the price range. In my opinion, there's nothing better in Karlshagen. Tip: call a few days in advance and make a reservation.

We spontaneously dropped in on May 8, 2025. After a brief wait, the friendly host turned our visit into a delicious and hospitable experience. We'd like to thank him and recommend the restaurant with 5 stars. We would go back there in a heartbeat.

We tried it on a whim and saw that there were already plenty of reserved seats. With a bit of luck, there was still a table available for us. The service was very warm and entertaining. The food, the ambiance, everything was to our satisfaction. The wait was also acceptable, and I really enjoyed the food (trout).

My wife and I were looking for a good restaurant and found one here. We called and luckily got a table that was squeezed in. But we didn't care. We haven't had such a good meal in a long time. The Google reviews speak for themselves. The good waiter also plays a big part in that. Very friendly, open, and humorous. We'll definitely be back. Reservations are recommended. We were here on May 3rd. Eating at the end of your vacation. I have to honestly say, absolutely great. The food was super tasty and the staff was great. The boss always had a saying ready. We wanted to reserve for September 3rd, 26 but that was still too early 😁 We will then meet again so that we can come to eat with you at least twice. The restaurant is small and therefore the number of tables is very limited. It's unlikely you'll be able to eat without a reservation. However, it's worth it because the food here is excellent. The minced meat in porcini mushroom sauce with warm beetroot recommended by the staff, which was not on the menu, was a taste bomb. Everything perfectly seasoned. After such a main course, dessert was a must. Also not on the menu: puff pastry filled with apples and ground almonds, seasoned with cinnamon and amaretto. The whole thing is “dipped” in vanilla sauce. It was culinary heaven!!! Add to that the very friendly service (best wishes to the cook) and the evening is perfect! We'll be back!!!

Small shop with a big heart. You come in, feel at home, and are served promptly and individually despite the fact that the hut is full. A menu with lots of delicacies without any half-hearted extras - every dish is perfectly to the point, rich, and tastes amazing. Here you still understand something about the craft of cooking! The service is extremely friendly, accommodating and even a quick comment is never inappropriate. A tiny bit of sadness - when the store is full, the oxygen runs out quite quickly. Otherwise, I have rarely experienced such a pleasant location! Be sure to reserve!!

Discovered on Google as an insider tip... of course not so secret anymore... because it's really indescribably good. Hgm seasoned meat the best in the world. Senior portion of wild goulash is simply a poem! Children's dish Schitzel fries...real schnitzel with good breading. The beetroot rocket...actually I'm against beetroot...but I tried it...actually really tasty the first time. We don't need to talk about service... that's how SERVICE works... 10 out of 5 stars... feel-good talk with your best friend... Conclusion: I haven't eaten or drank so well in a long time... still worth mentioning...: red soda and homemade fruit schnapps (my choice apricot), both very tasty too. THANK YOU for the great time. Of course you have to pre-order...otherwise it will be a game of chance.

A reservation is definitely recommended, but you can still ask spontaneously. Maybe you'll be lucky and get a place. When we made our reservation, children's cutlery was already available and painting utensils were also handed out straight away. Good morning We ended up in the Baltic Sea resort of Karlshagen on Usedom and in the Waldhäuschen based on the reviews. Very friendly welcome, really tasty food and lots of laughs. There were four of us and everyone was very satisfied. Everything really fits here. Very happy again.

It is a small but very fine restaurant with super friendly staff and food prepared with a lot of love. Our glasses were never empty, we were always asked if everything was OK and we never had to wait long for our food. An exceptional restaurant that definitely comes highly recommended. Reservations are essential, as the limited seating makes it almost impossible to dine spontaneously. The food was incredibly delicious (we took the chef's recommendation, which wasn't on the menu), and we were thoroughly impressed! The customer service is very warm; you almost feel like you're visiting friends! Compliments to the entire team! On our next trip to Karlshagen, a visit to the Waldschlösschen is at the top of our list.

It is a rustic interior design that had to be adopted. A lot has already been improved outside. But the most important thing for me when going out to eat is service and of course, first and foremost, the food. And I think the young chef doesn't have to hide from any star chef. Plus the super friendly host. He is truly a host. You feel comfortable there. And I prefer not to write about the price/performance ratio. This can only turn out negatively for me. Either I have to pay more or it's almost impossible to get a table. Until now it was an insider tip.

Unfortunately we only went to this wonderful little restaurant twice for dinner. The landlord was super friendly. I ate a large baked trout there twice and was thrilled with the taste. The portions were far too big for us, so I left out the potatoes and just had them with a salad. My wife had eaten a huge schnitzel, but unfortunately couldn't finish it. The prices were the toughest. Where else can you get such tasty food today for so little money? We can warmly recommend the restaurant. It's better to reserve.

With a reservation it worked the next day, as it is always very fully booked and is a small restaurant. The service is very friendly, open-minded and the food is top and really homemade. That's why we came here a second time. A real ***** insider tip!

We were here at the beginning of October and had reserved a table. But since we were already curious beforehand, we managed to get a table outside twice beforehand. The food was great and actually deserves 6 stars. 😜 The boss is funny and charming and we felt very comfortable there. The portions were really big and we will definitely be back. We decided to go to Essen at the end of our vacation in Karlshagen and came across the Waldhäuschen restaurant because of the many positive reviews. It's a nice, cozy and small restaurant. Reservation is absolutely necessary, especially if you want your four-legged friend to come with you. Yesterday we ordered a table for 4 people and a dog in the first round. The Kellern always had a nice saying at hand, which created a good atmosphere in the restaurant. 😉 The food was super delicious 😋 and the plates were prepared with a lot of love. Kudos to the chef. The price-performance ratio is also right. I can highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely visit the Waldhäuschen again if we end up in Karlshagen again.

The restaurant is very small and there are only a few tables. It was good that we made reservations beforehand. Some guests asked during the evening and were told off for another day. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The fries were terrific. The service was friendly. However, the humor seemed a bit forced.

We were in Karlshagen for the third time. After we didn't make a reservation last time and unfortunately didn't get a place, we made a reservation this time and were so excited that we made a reservation for this holiday a second time. It's been a long time since I've had such a good meal outside, very nice boss, great food and very cozy. We will definitely come back on our next Usedom vacation.
