Restaurant Übersee in Göhren

We were at this place during coffee time. It was quite busy, but we were lucky to get a table. After it took a few minutes for the waiter to bring us two menus, we were finally able to order. The coffee and latte were okay, the mixed fruit ice cream was "Ideal Standard," three scoops of canned fruit—nothing special or unusual. The waiter seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and seemed listless and unfriendly. It's a shame, considering the restaurant is right on the promenade and boasts a beautiful view. Unfortunately, this was our last time there.

We arrived there on a cold, windy day and ordered a hot drink. Everything tasted good, we had a nice seat overlooking the sea and the waves, and the service was nice, too.

We spontaneously stopped by for the first time due to the bad weather. Ordering via phone was quick, and the wait time was also very short. Good shop

Service staff that are unfriendly to customers and tourists is unacceptable. What happened: on May 23, 2025, at around 11:20 a.m., several elderly people had already sat down on the outdoor terrace of Café Übersee when a heavy and prolonged shower suddenly came down. The door to Café Übersee was open, and the elderly people tried to quickly get somewhere dry. The regular opening time is 11:30 a.m., so 10 minutes later, when the people sought shelter, they were asked by the service staff to leave the café and thus stood in the rain for 10 minutes. After the café had opened, I spoke to the service staff about this unacceptable situation, but they became even more cheeky and impertinent. They didn't want to be lectured and advised me to leave the café. Unfortunately, the manager wasn't there yet. Even though I might visit Café Übersee again in the future because the outdoor area and the view of the pier are very beautiful, I will definitely not be tipping these service staff again.

The staff was very friendly and prompt. You can bring your dog inside. There's a beautiful view of the beach and outdoor seating. Unfortunately, there's almost no vegan food available, just salad and a chip-like alternative to fries. These tasted good and were nice and crispy. No vegan hot chocolate available, no vegan dessert, and no vegan mayo. Right on the beach promenade.

A coffee cup with a view. If you like the dross about it, you should go back. I didn't like it there except for the view.

I also have to say, the first impression of the staff was derogatory, arrogant and not at all accommodating. The first rays of sunshine attracted many visitors to the Göhren, but the “waiter” made you feel: you want something according to my rules. Sad for this cafe as it's my first and last visit. We also heard how a customer wanted to use the toilets for a fee. The waiter said no, the spa administration had built nice toilets and the customer explained that they were almost inaccessible today and she asked for them. The waiter had no pity. It's a shame, I thought it was justified: If Rügen then Göhren.

After a detour to Nordperd, we ate the focaccia from the daily menu and loved it. Super tasty and well prepared. The friendly service is also good, but the industrial style of the toilets takes some getting used to. The copper sink is still okay, but this half-glass pee tub doesn't work at all. Sorry, it's 2025.

Oh, that was pleasant! Today was the first day of vacation. A strong east wind, foaming waves, flags flapping. Enjoying the spectacle, comfortably protected behind glass in the front row, and treating myself to delicacies. A nicely spicy currywurst, plenty of sauce, so even the fries could be dipped in it. A creamy virgin colada and a latte to finish. The staff took the most pleasant care of me. So, the vacation can continue.

Small, cute café with a direct view of the pier. Prices are accordingly but still ok. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very cozy. Waffles and cakes are very tasty. You can definitely do it to linger and enjoy the view.

We decided to have coffee and cake right on the beach. The waffles were very tasty and value for money was very good. The service was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay because of the view.

The service was very courteous and friendly. It was very comfortable and the view was unique. We ate what we thought was the best cheesecake in the world there. With elderberry topping. When we asked, they took their time and confirmed to us that it was baked in-house. A big plus. We would be happy to come back and thank you for the friendly welcome.

Degrading staff! "You" doesn't work at all, especially if you use the wrong tone! We would have liked to have coffee and cake! Unfortunately, the four of us were denied a table for six, with a view of the steamer and the larger groups, which then turned out to be two gentlemen. Never again! Göhren has more pleasant locations!

Lovely view of the water, and right on the promenade👍 Unfortunately, card payments are only possible from 20 euros. Then you just drink 3 wheat plus a tip so that the somewhat grumpy boss at the counter gets his way 😊 But service was super nice and quick👍

We wanted to drink a coffee and eat a scoop of ice cream without ordering a sundae from the menu. Unfortunately, the extremely inflexible waiter couldn't find a way to do this, other than "You'll have to get it yourself. There's the same ice cream in our sundaes." Exactly, but we only wanted one scoop. We then reluctantly got a scoop “to go”. Admittedly it was very tasty, but the service took a lot of getting used to.

We had rainy weather and just wanted a coffee, but then decided on something nutritious and we definitely weren't disappointed, it was cozy, the staff were attentive and friendly. There is something on the menu for everyone and our food was really delicious, we recommend it.

Cool location, have been coming here for years. It's great that you can now stay longer in the evenings and there are lots of delicious things with very nice service, prices are also great. Always my pleasure!!! The operator has been different since last year, but okay. The menu is better for me, there are very tasty dishes on it and what we ate tasted great.

Best terrace on the whole promenade, which is why we have often come here. My recommendation is the currywurst with the very tasty fries (potato pieces). Service sometimes requires a bit of patience, but we are on vacation...

Very small sundae for €9.10. And an extra scoop of ice cream. It should be hazelnut. We've never had such bad ice cream. It was watery and tasteless, not even a hint of hazelnut. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it.

We were here for dinner on September 6th, 2024. We were greeted warmly and were assigned a table (no reservation had been made). A short time later we received the menu and were able to order something to eat and drink very promptly. The preparation for the meal took about 20 minutes. We received the drinks about 3 minutes after ordering. I ordered a schnitzel with fries, which was very tasty. The cucumber salad wasn't my cup of tea as it contained onions, but it was still appetizing. In summary, it is a very nice restaurant with very friendly staff and I can only recommend it.

We just wanted to drink an espresso and some sparkling water. Time: 10:45 a.m. Most beautiful weather! Very well attended! Unfortunately, the staff was completely overloaded and the system didn't work. Other guests who arrived later were served drinks and food before us. Asking again was received very rudely. Then came a refill bottle with tap-warm, almost non-carbonated water. The espressos were what they were supposed to be, but nothing special. We wanted to pay immediately upon delivery. This happened with an absurdity that is unparalleled. €12.20 and €1.80 tip. The one euro of change just flew onto the table and goodbye. The store will never see me again🤢🤮

Unfriendly service - no hello, no smile, absolutely nothing. We had to go to the waiter to pay because no one came, even after asking to pay several times. Price-performance doesn't match at all. Overpriced to the point where it's not possible anymore for what you're offered... and then bad service But there are enough tourists who can be excluded. We definitely won't be coming back

It wasn't our first time in Göhren, but our first time overseas. The large terrace invited you to linger. The view of the Baltic Sea is priceless. Very nice and friendly service. The food and drink excellent. Thank you very much for the nice hospitality.

We chose Hungarian goulash and the waiter said it was a good choice. If the rain hadn't driven us away, I would have invited him to dinner. The side dishes of salad and rice were ok, but otherwise there were a few chunks of fat on the plate floating in a gritty broth. Completely inedible. Never again.

Good seating with a view of the pier. Very large portions compared to other restaurants. However, this restaurant is more of a café, which you can tell from both the selection on the lunch menu and the taste.

The food was tasty, the service was very attentive (despite the full shop), but the view of the huge, hideous picture was not necessary. Of course it's in the eye of the beholder, but we had to change because our little one was afraid of it :) Prices were more than OK.

Unfortunately there is no possibility to drink there. Closing sometimes before 6 p.m.... A pity

The two of us arrived in sunny spring weather and all the tables outside were occupied, but one was about to become free. We were very hungry, our companions were on the way and we ordered a quick beer and waited on the windowsill. When the table became free after about 10 minutes, the waiter stepped in, put his "Reserved" sign on the table and refused to allow us to sit down. Instead, the table was immediately given to a family in front of us who had just arrived and actually wanted to leave because everything was full. More people = more sales. So, dismayed, we continued walking to the “culinary garden” (50m further). A good decision. There is delicious food, chill music and we had enough time there to write this review. Really, that's not how I want to be treated as a paying customer, whether it's just two beers or not. Bad style.

Unfreundlich und schlechter Service. Man hat uns und dem Nachbartisch beim Servieren Bier übergeschüttet, es gab nicht mal eine richtige Entschuldigung für bierdurchtränkten Schal, Mütze, Pulli, Jacken, Rucksack - vor allem beim Kind. Dann haben wir 40 min auf das Essen gewartet und haben beim Servieren direkt darum gebeten, bezahlen zu können um den Zug noch zu erwischen. Es kam aber niemand. Nach 20min konnten wir dann bezahlen und wurden angemotzt, wir sollten doch wenigstens in Ruhe aufessen. (Der Zug fuhr uns dann trotz Rennen vor der Nase weg). Einen Rabatt o.ä. für die Bierdusche gab es auch nicht. Andere Gäste wurden auch sehr unhöflich behandelt. Das Essen hat allerdings gut geschmeckt.

Ich kam mittags zum Essen, bin freundlich begrüßt und bedient worden. Essen lecker, Eis lecker, Kaffee lecker. Ambiente sehr schön und meine beiden (braven) Hunde waren auch willkommen.

Great view, strikingly stylish furnishings for the region and you can order without a smartphone if you want. It was clean too. If it wasn't so damn far from southern Germany, I would be there more often!

“Cheeky” sums it up. Starts with the order. This can only be done by opening a digital menu using a QR code. No cellphone? No mobile data? - not our customer! Then comes a waffle that doesn't deserve its name. Hollow - can you really be so bold and save a little dough? Plus unappetizing cherries, including the pits of course. The three ambience points apply exclusively to the sea view. We won't be coming back.

I was there so early that the cake was still steaming, which was delicious by the way! I found the service friendly & quite attentive. The selection of food and drink is m.n. completely adequate. (Currently open from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

We visited the Übersee restaurant this afternoon and got a free table. After us, several more guests arrived and were given the menu by the host and were able to place their orders, while we were completely ignored by the staff. After waiting 15 minutes we gave up. This is certainly not an everyday standard here, but we will avoid this restaurant in the future.

I can't understand negative reviews. We had 4 different cake/dessert variations, all very tasty. Warm drinks were all good too. The service was very nice and listed alternatives that were still available. We were there in the fall, but I can't say what it's like in the summer during the high season. We have been coming here in the fall for years. The carrot cake is recommended if you can get a piece.

We have been to this café several times and have always been satisfied, but this time we were very disappointed when we were told in the windy, cold weather that there were no hot drinks because the coffee machine was broken. That meant no tea, no cocoa, no grog. Hmmm, restaurant without a kettle, stove or at least microwave? How inflexible... Three stars because otherwise it was always nice and the location was nice...

Great location. There is a deduction for the lack of a non-alcoholic drink, which was not available again early in the evening. I also found the price for a quarter-filled glass to be unjustifiably high. That seems to be common practice.

Wir wurden super nett bedient, der Service ist wirklich gut und das Essen schmeckt wirklich sehr lecker. Das Ambiente ist 1A schöner Blick auf die Ostsee zum Glück unterbaut. Am Montag gibt es zwar eine reduzierte Mittagsspeiskarte aber trotzdem kein Problem. Der Flammkuchen war echt lecker und die Bratwurst hat auch geschmeckt. Das als Thüringer zu sagen, ist echt ein Lob für die Wurst. Der Kuchen war unser Nachtisch und schmeckte echt lecker. Meine Empfehlung, wer in Göhren vor Anker geht, sollte unbedingt im Restaurant Übersee rein schauen und sich von den guten Essen verwöhnen lassen. Auch bei den Getränken bleibt kein Wunsch offen, egal was gewünscht wird, es wird versucht zu ermöglichen. Das beste kommt zu Schluss die Preise, wir dachten, nach dem was wir gegessen und getrunken haben mit einer reichhaltigen Rechnung. Aber nichts da, vernünftige Preise mit einem erstklassigen Angebot und super Service. Wer wo anders hingeht ist selber schuld. Wenn wir wieder hier sind kommen wir wieder!

Essen war sehr lecker, Service schnell, zuverlässig und freundlich. Lage auch sehr schön.

gab es Flammenkuchen, für meinen Partner die Zitronenpasta mit Lachs und für die kleinen die süßen Donald Duck. Die Flammenkuchen waren gut und reichlich belegt und wirklich sehr lecker. Die Pasta Lachs waren wohl auch sehr gut. Den Kindern hat es auch geschmeckt. Dazu die schöne Aussicht direkt auf das Meer, besser kann man nicht essen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Essen kam Lauwarm am Tisch an, Getränke wurden vergessen - nach erneuter Frage, bekam ich die Antwort diese würden gleich folgen, wieder gewartet und Blickkontakt gehalten zu der Kellnerin (wohl eine Polin, welche sehr Arrogant zu meiner Frau und mir gewesen ist) , haben dann unsere Getränke erhalten als ich zur Bar gegangen bin und nochmal höflich danach gefragt hatte. Hier werden wir definitiv nichts mehr essen gehen, sowas Unfreundliches habe ich noch nie erlebt. Am Nachbartisch hat die Dame (Kellnerin) mit Buntem Haar den Mann ständig betatscht was dem Herren sichtlich unangenehm gewesen ist.

Die Bewertungen der Vorgänger kann ich gar nicht nachvollziehen. Wir kommen schon seit 15 Jahren nach Rügen und essen mindestens 4 x während des 2 wöchigen Urlaubes im Übersee Restaurant. Das Essen ist super und die Zutaten sind aus bester Qualität. Deswegen finde ich Speisekarten mit einer überschaubaren Auswahl an Menüs ansprechender als eine Karte voller Speisen von schlechter Qualität, die länger vorgehalten werden müssen. Wir sind gerne im Übersee, dass es mit den Servicekräften manchmal etwas holperig ist, da diese erst eingelernt werden müssen, ist ja nun ein generelles Problem geworden und da kann man mit einem freundlichen Lächeln die Personen nur unterstützen. Den Chef schätzten wir sehr, der immer freundlich ist und stets einen guten Spruch auf den Lippen hat.
