Restaurant Troja in Lahnstein

We were disappointed. What use is the beautiful ambience, the friendly staff, if the main course was totally over-spiced (gyros with Metaxa sauce were totally over-salted), the meat was of poor quality, tough, mixed and had a lot of fat. The price/performance ratio is not right here.

Because of the almost universally very positive reviews, we decided to visit this restaurant. We come from the catering industry ourselves, love good food and generally bring goodwill, understanding and patience. We had made a reservation at 7 p.m. It was a bit difficult because the waiter spoke to me and a person in the shop at the same time on the phone, "Yes seven OK", didn't ask me for my name but didn't hang up and spoke to someone else and the phone call went empty. “Well there will be a lot going on.” Arrived at 7 p.m. Great atmosphere, breathtaking view from the terrace. Friendly welcome. Asked for a reservation, said yes, not asked for name and still placed (inside). Hunger.Ordered after 15 minutes. Drinks quickly. Then nothing more for a long time... worse hunger. After 45 minutes a child's hand full of side salad came: iceberg, 1 teaspoon of cabbage and a tomato wedge. But big cinema with vinegar and oil drizzled at the table by the waiter, "milled" with pepper and salt. That was a bit hidden camera-like. After about 60 minutes our food arrived, without a word of contriteness or a "Sorry, there's a lot going on, an hour is really long". The quantity or quality of the food on the plate doesn't live up to what the price promises. 25, 90 for the village plate 😏: 1 skewer (tasty), a mini pork steak (the size of a minute steak) (dry), a small handful of gyros and a dollop of tzatziki. A pair of fries a little too long in the Fryer but well seasoned. I had almost 20 euros for a Bifteki (large), which was a bit dry but tasted quite good. The tzatziki was bland compared to others. The whole meal isn't bad, but the seasoning and presentation are passionless. The occasional visit to the toilet was sobering. After the toilet door, the ambience simply stops and is more like a school toilet or a pub toilet. My toilet seat was missing and I had to slam the door to get it to close, I didn't actually want to mention the missing towel paper. But in the higher price range that's part of it too. When asked politely and nicely what caused the long waiting time... grill capacity or lack of staff... you know that yourself. There were slightly passive aggressive tendentious answers without the slightest self-reflection: "You cook with products from the region, that takes time and a bifteki has been on the grill for a quarter of an hour." My husband is a trained chef and I have always enjoyed waiting tables. Yes, we understand that there is a lot going on, but an honest approach and clarification during the waiting time would be appropriate. Don't overdo it. Yes, it was well filled, but what happens when the still empty terrace, which is 3-4 times the size of the store, is full? It's a shame...what potential for such a wonderfully located location with such a great ambience.

The restaurant is highly recommended, the food is super tasty and comes quickly, as are the starters. The employees are super friendly. The ambience is perfect with lots of decorations (e.g. pictures and vases) and there are statues outside that look well cared for and there is also a huge Trojan horse outside. I can highly recommend the restaurant. (Little insider tip if you're nearby) Really recommended to everyone.

Starter just finished and one thing is already clear, Nothing can happen here that doesn't deserve a perfect rating. Beautiful ambience between statues of Greek gods, wall paintings and authentic wall reliefs. The starter tasted so fantastic that I took these 2 minutes. I've been here several times with my husband and relatives. The service has always been excellent. Everyone likes the food very well, the portions are good and the atmosphere is also pleasant. I got to know moussaka differently. It reminded me more of lasagna. That's the only thing I wouldn't order again, which isn't a problem as the menu offers a good selection. It's a bit out of the way, so you shouldn't let that put you off. The quality is worth the "trip".

The service is friendly. The food we ordered came quickly and was plentiful. The grilled meat dishes and gyros were still juicy. The ambiance is exceptional and designed with attention to Greek detail.

I don't usually write reviews, but it has to be here! We came across this restaurant by chance because we were in the Lahnsteiner Kur- und Heilwald. What luck! It's been a long time since I've eaten such good, fresh, homemade (turkey) schnitzel. The whole meal was a delight! The two of us had dinner in Troy last night. Since we go out for Greek food quite often, our expectations were quite high. Aaaber These were more than exceeded. Ambience: Great. Food: Excellent. Service: Unattainably good. Staff: Outstanding, very polite and very attentive. The Troy has two new regular customers since yesterday. Dear gastronomy, I have been in the industry for over 15 years. This is how gastronomy works. There are some restaurateurs who can cut a really big deal here.

Wir waren am Sonntag den 10.03.2025 mittags zum Essen im Troja und waren doch sehr enttäuscht nachdem wir vorher die Bewertungen gelesen hatten. Das Personal war sehr bemüht, jedoch das Essen schmeckte nicht. Bei den Lammkoteletts fehlte der Knoblauch, überhaupt Gewürze. Das Zaziki war ein fettarmer Joghurt ohne Geschmack. Bei der Gyrospfanne mit Metaxasoße fehlte der Metaxa und die Würze. Alles in Allem: Preis Leistung unterirdisch.

I am very enthusiastic, the atmosphere is beautiful. Service top. Rarely eaten so well. The meat was super tender and not as dry as elsewhere. I can only say it again and again

I can't understand all the positive reviews. We waited a long time for the food and were subsequently disappointed. The meat, especially the gyros, was extremely fatty and hardly seasoned. The rice was mushy and had an odd taste. We let almost everything go back. Additionally, the toilets were dingy and in desperate need of renovation. Maybe we had a bad day but we definitely won't visit the restaurant again. If you want to say something positive, it would be that the service was very friendly and helpful.

On each of our visits, the service is very friendly and not intrusive, the food is consistently of very good quality and is served quickly, the restaurant is cozy and you can relax wonderfully both inside and outside in summer. We always like to come.

Really good restaurant. Excellent service, the employees are all very nice and accommodating. Very good meat, it was very tasty. There are three dressings for the salad that you can make yourself. We were 4 adults and 1 toddler. Were very pleasant. Surprised at how friendly and attentive the staff were throughout the entire stay. The food was very good and plentiful. The ambience is also great. We will come back.

Today we were in Troy – where should I start? Our culinary journey began with a delicious starter: pepperoni, feta and homemade tzatziki - a real poem! This was followed by a tender lamb shank with broad beans and a mixed grill plate where the meat was so tender that it melted in your mouth. We also enjoyed a fine red wine (Mega Spileo) that the attentive service recommended to us - and what can we say? We immediately fell in love with this wine!😍 A huge thank you to the entire team for the great service and fantastic quality. Special praise goes to the kitchen – you really spoiled us! We'll definitely be back.

The quality of the food was 1a. Freshly and very tasty prepared. Despite being full, the whole team was very attentive and pleasantly friendly. The prices are reasonable. We are looking forward to warmer temperatures and the outdoor terrace... see you soon.

Very attentive service, lovingly served dishes. When we declined the obligatory ouzo we were given two desserts and on another evening two cocktails. There was also a bit of a show when serving the shrimp. Every time we left the restaurant the door was held open and we were bid farewell very lovingly. The ambience is ancient Greece through and through! Statues of gods everywhere and many elements from Greek architecture and history. A wonderful place to end the day after visiting the surrounding castles and the beautiful surroundings.

We gathered there with 22 people for our Christmas party. It was really great. The table was beautifully and invitingly set. The food was very tasty and especially the starter plates looked great. There was great communication between us and the kitchen. All the food came to the table together. And the team…… simply great. Super nice, helpful and absolutely competent.

A Greek of the year 2025 - people used to get full in these places. Today a huge plate with little on it - here a little calamari with a mini portion of tzatziki and a poor side salad with two tablespoons of rice. Food tasted unseasoned. Plus two wheat beers and two espressos for just under €63. We were here twice, the first and last time.

Visited with partner on the occasion of the hospital stay in the Lahnhöhe. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly service, good food. Parking spaces directly at the restaurant (although not paved).

Once again we were treated to this fantastic, first class restaurant pampered with food, lots of heart and love. The evening was once again unforgettable and completely perfect. The place inside is gorgeous. Excellent welcome!! They open the door when you enter and accompany you on the way out. The dishes are fabulous, precise and delicious, from savory to sweet; in short, it is the perfect place for those who love Greek cuisine or for those who want to enjoy south-eastern Europe at its best. The food tasted very good and the portions were plentiful. The staff was friendly. Our child and our dog were both very welcome and there was water for the dog and a mini portion for the child (toddler) at the house's expense.

My food was 😋, my companion's was not as they remembered it the first time. As the saying goes... "Error is human" There was a mess when it came to paying, it would have been easy if the cashier had come to the table with the entire bill and each couple had announced their orders and then paid. 8 months ago I was at the Troja restaurant for the first time and was a little dissatisfied. I'm now a regular there because a lot of what I wrote before (payment) has changed in my assessment. The food is still very, very good. I can recommend the Troja restaurant with a good heart. Another little tip...it's a good idea to make a table reservation by phone as it's very busy, especially on weekends 😉

Moderate food a lot fat in the meat

We had dinner there on my birthday...on a recommendation. I had the grill plate. The liver was dry, the pork was too raw, the other piece was too dry and I bit on raw onions on the minced steak. The skewer was full of tendons and totally dry and tough, the tzatziki was tasteless and bland! I didn't even eat a third of everything. The side salad consisted of iceberg lettuce and cabbage with a teaspoon of dressing. On everything, including the fries, a spice that I can't define and didn't fit at all. The only thing that was good was Taramas, although it didn't include brown bread, but rather Baquette. Unfortunately a disappointment for my 60th birthday. The only highlight was the amazing staff, absolutely!!!!

Stayed with you today, everything was great

We had dinner with the family and my partner in September for my mother's 50th birthday. There was excellent food! Unfortunately there is no vegetarian main course on the menu, but the staff made sure that my partner and I had a very good and filling vegetarian main course - quite naturally and without any problems. The atmosphere was beautiful and relaxed even though it was completely full. My mother received a birthday serenade, everyone was more than full and happy. Gladly again! P.S.: The waiters can speak several languages ​​and one of them noticed that we spoke Russian and from then on actually served in Russian. We thought it was really cool.

The staff looked after us so well ! A bus load of Aussies in need of a good feed rocked up on the doorstep with next to no notice and they welcomed us all in and prepared an amazing meal for all 48 of us! 10/10

Fish platter for two people. There was also a salad and, with the fish, a plate of fries with rice. It couldn't be done. I also recommend the Bifteki menu, which I have already ordered twice. This menu is also difficult to manage. The service is also excellent. The restaurant is always very busy. It's best to reserve a table in advance. The ambience was always good, even with the previous owner. The house used to be a beer garden with its own brewed beer. The brewery is to the right of the restaurant, but is no longer in operation. Before that it was a farm with an inn and nostalgic owners. You weren't allowed to complain, otherwise you'd be thrown out of the inn.

Leider muss ich sagen, dass ich die positiven Bewertungen gar nicht nachvollziehen kann. Personal war grundsätzlich freundlich, allerdings konnte nur einer deutsch sprechen, die anderen englisch oder gar nicht. Es gab nicht eine Frau unter den Mitarbeitern, dafür aber einen "Herrentisch", an dem sich auch die Bedienungen regelmäßig aufgehalten haben. In Verbindung mit dem Spanischen Wein (griechischen gab es (zumindest an dem Abend nicht), den man auch im Netto kaufen kann (Preis war natürlich trotzdem der eines Restaurants), vermute ich stark, dass zwar das Essen griechisch anmutet, das war es dann aber auch. Wir mussten auf alles sehr lang warten, eine Vorspeise wurde gar nicht geliefert, dafür sehr freundlich später doppelt nachgereicht. Die Portionen waren groß, allerdings schmeckten Salatsoßen, und Cocktailsoße im Shrimpsalat nicht selbstgemacht. Einrichtung und Deko sind wild durcheinander. Uns hat es gar nicht gefallen, und wir werden auch nicht wiederkommen.

The staff was very friendly, but unfortunately that was it... Spanish wine with a Greek - not possible. I have seen the same wine much cheaper online. It took a very long time for the food to arrive. The sauces reminded me of "supermarket sauces". The waiters, with the exception of one, did not speak German. And various other things bothered us... I can't prove it, of course, but I'm pretty convinced that someone with a different nationality is trying to be Greek. Absolutely not successful for our conditions. Never again!! I'm very sorry, I would have liked to rate it better. But the positive reviews don't make sense to me.

The restaurant is very hidden, you have to look closely to find it. The ambience is very nice and the staff is friendly. The food... Well, the fries were in the fryer for far too long, some of the meat was fried dry. The soups were very tasty. Since we asked for our opinion, we were given a scoop of Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts as an apology. That was also delicious. We probably won't go there a second time.

The negative first, the gyro was not a gyro. They were half a centimeter thick, indescribable greasy something. It was by far the worst gyro we were ever served. The staff was friendly and nice. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Personally, I wouldn't eat there again.
