Restaurant Tomate 2 in Saarbrücken

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. The furnishings are modern, warm and pleasant. The waitresses were very friendly and the food was really fantastic :)

Tomate2 has been a classic for us for two decades. The special atmosphere always attracts us. The food is of reliable quality. Thank you for all the years of hospitality and cosiness. We are already looking forward to the sound of the fountain on the summer nights. 😀

Sorry service catastrophic cake café milk no reported. Brought it home and later ordered apple spritzer. Terribly served! I always enjoyed breakfast and now I'm so disappointed

As a visitor to Saarbrücken, I used the lunch break to stop at Tomato 2. The attractive lunch menu on the large board outside aroused my curiosity. The ambience of the restaurant seems a bit old. While functional, it lacks the cozy atmosphere found in many modern restaurants. The menu is clear and offers a good selection of pasta, meat and starter dishes. The separate lunch menu, which also includes vegetarian options, is particularly positive. Unfortunately, I didn't discover any vegan dishes. I chose a lunch menu with an appetizer. The small tomato and mozzarella salad was okay, but in my opinion could have used a little more seasoning or a high quality olive oil. The main course, gnocchi with cream sauce, mushrooms and rocket, was tasty and well portioned. For the entire menu of 17 euros, the price-performance ratio for a lunch at the border is still acceptable. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The cuisine offers solid dishes, but there is definitely room for improvement, especially in the area of ​​atmosphere and the sophistication of the starters.

I had dinner here a very simple cordon bllue. With a dark German beer. Pleasant.

Good. Cozy. Tarte flambée tastes good, risotto can still be improved in terms of consistency, but it also tastes good and the version with mushrooms and turmeric is a nice change. Fries are really good, fried potatoes are okay, I think the harissa in the Merguez is even homemade, tasty, although the taste is a touch too tomato-pastey. But overall the store is stable, you can have a nice snort during the week or before you start the evening. The price is also right, the staff is very nice.

When we visited it was very chaotic. Sometimes 20 minutes+ waiting time for drinks if they weren't forgotten.

Nice location right next to the castle. Food and service were great. Definitely worth a visit.

Because of a large party, the kitchen was closed to other guests. So there were only drinks... Friendly staff, good communication.

The girls in service are always very friendly. Unfortunately the menu felt like it was reduced by half. Really a shame. In addition, the prices were excessively high. Paid 15 euros for a tarte flambée and 16 euros for cheese spaetzle. Quality was also better. Tarte flambée once tasted better and there was also a lot of savings on cheese spaetzle, there was more salad on the plate than cheese spaetzle. You could hardly taste the cheese at all. I'm willing to pay but I also want the quality to match. I am very surprised by the good reviews.

Cozy café/restaurant, which also has a terrace where you can sit comfortably. Food will be accepted shortly before the kitchen closes. Service is great, food is delicious!

30 Jahre lang waren wir äußerst zufriedene Besucher der Tomate. Nach dem Besitzerwechsel, müssen wir die Qualität in "Kantinen Niveau" einordnen, allerdings 3x so teuer. Wir sind sehr enttäuscht. Nur die Servicekräfte waren zuvorkommend und höflich, obwohl sie eigentlich nur in Hetze waren. Wir empfehlen die Tomate nicht mehr weiter und wollen den Absturz eines ehemals Top-Restaurants nicht weiter miterleben.

We had a very aromatic tomato soup that was refined with gin and two different salads. I had the salad with artichokes, mozzarella and caramelized lemons. It was very tasty, the service was very friendly and attentive. The ambience is a bit old, but very nice.

Very friendly staff, we even got a seat spontaneously. The entrance area has a bit of a pub feel, and the back area has a restaurant atmosphere. Drinks were quickly at the table and the food shortly afterwards.

5 stars for a very attentive, dedicated waitress Elena!!!! Drinks perfectly chilled. Ambience ok. Food was unseasoned, bland, Gordon Blue had a grease bath in the old oil. It doesn't deserve a second visit. Fries blah without any taste.

Nice large terrace right next to the castle. We had dinner in the restaurant yesterday. The food was delicious, but the service was a bit sloppy. Something was constantly being forgotten.

Bei unserem Besuch am Montagabend (29.1.) war ich doch sehr schockiert, als ich gesehen habe, dass eine der Bedienungen ein Stück Baguette, das ihr auf den Boden fiel, aufhob und ins Körbchen legte und anderen Gästen brachte. Sowas geht gar nicht. Mir ist daraufhin der Appetit vergangen. Die Bedienung war zwar sehr nett, aber was Hygiene angeht, müsste sie mal noch unterwiesen werden!

Immer wieder schön dort zu sein. Bin zwar nur alle 3-4 Monate dort, aber habe es noch nie bereut, weder vom Essen noch vom Service her.

Das Essen war lecker und kam für 8 Personen gleichzeitig auf den Tisch. Leider war es im Gastraum sehr eng und die Geräuschkulisse störend. Die Fröhlichkeit des Personals hat dazu beigetragen das wir uns trotzdem wohlgefühlt haben.

Sehr leckeres Essen und super freundlicher Service. Bei schönem Wetter kann man auch draußen am Schlossplatz sitzen. Kuchen gibt es auch, einfach nach den verfügbaren Sorten fragen.

A great place for dinner. I got flammkuchen and fried potatoes and this was more than enough for a good dinner. Service was good, we sat outdoors which is in a nice location.

Ich sitze gerade draußen vor der Tomate 2 und habe Penne mit Birne und Gorgonzola gegessen. Ich kenne das Restaurant seit über 40 Jahren. Früher war es hier wirklich gut und die Preise auf dem Teppich. Das Essen war auch heute gut auch, wenn es bis zum Servieren anscheinend lange gestanden hatte, denn es war nicht mehr gleichmäßig heiß und die Pasta war an der Oberfläche schon leicht dunkel, was passiert, wenn die Soße zu lange gestanden hat. Aber was wirklich unverschämt ist, sind die Preise für die offenen Weine. 9,20 Euro für ein Viertel eines durchschnittlichen Weines sind einfach inakzeptabel. Das bezahlt man vielleicht in Hamburg an den Topadressen, aber in Saarbrücken ist das mehr als übertrieben. Wahrscheinlich will man hier erreichen, dass mehr Bier getrunken wird. Eigentlich schade, weil das Essen vor allem für Vegetarier interessant ist. Meine Empfehlung an den anscheinend neuen Geschäftsführer: Preise für die Weine wieder auf ein vernünftiges Niveau runtersetzen, denn die Tomate 2 ist kein Sternerestaurant und soll es auch nicht sein.

Gemütlich, sehr freundliches Personal. Die Speisekarte ist klein, aber oho! Ich hatte Mühe, etwas auszusuchen, da sich alles so lecker anhörte 😁 Preis Leistung ok, Portionen aber nicht wirklich üppig. Mit gutem Appetit sollte man sich eine Vorspeise gönnen😉 Fazit : mal was Anderes👍

Hier kann man entspannt sitzen, mit Blick aufs alte Schloß und aufs alte Rathaus von Saarbrücken. Ordentliches Essen zu angemessenen Preisen. Die Weine und anderen Getränke ebenso. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Jederzeit gerne wieder!

Wir waren lange Stammkunden, aber in den letzten Monaten hat es uns nicht mehr gefallen. Die Preise sind zu hoch für das, was serviert wird. Fast alle vgetarischen Salate /Speisen sind auf der erneuerten Karte mit Ziegenkäse oder Feta :-( Letztes Mal wurden wir 25 Minuten lang komplett ignoriert, hätte ich mir die Karten nicht irgendwann selbst geschnappt, würden wir vermutlich immer noch übersehen werden von der komplett überforderten Bedienung.

Essen ist ok aber (zumindest mein Gericht) nichts besonderes. Das Abiente ist nicht so nein Ding, da finde ich andere Lokale deutlich schöner. Alles on allem aber ok, kann man zum essen hingehen

Wir waren von dem Abendessen in der Tomate 2 ziemlich enttäuscht! Zwar hatten wir einen sehr freundlichen Service, doch stand die Qualität und die Menge des Essens in keinem Verhältnis zu dem Preis, völlig überteuert!

Sehr engagierte Leute, super nett und das Essen war wirklich klasse. Ansonsten errinert mich alles an ein Studenten Lokal. Ich fand es recht laut, mein Vater hatte trotz Hörgerät Schwierigkeiten mich zu verstehen.

Wir haben sehr schön auf dem Rathausplatz gesessen. Die Bedienung war äußerst zuvorkommend. War ein sehr schöner Abend.

I'll start by saying this is my first time in Germany and I have zero knowledge or expertise with German cuisine. I chose to sit inside for a different experience. It wasn't very busy inside or outside for a Sunday afternoon about 1:00pm. I had the Linsensalat mit rinderbrust (lentil salad with beef brisket) and it was outstanding. I also had the Mousse au chocolat for dessert and it was really good. The service was exceptional and a few of the servers spoke English very well so I had zero issues.
