Restaurant Café Kostbar in Saarbrücken

Really a strong piece! I feel incredibly ripped off by this renowned restaurant. A month ago we made a deposit for catering for our wedding. Café Kostbar now informs its customers about the bankruptcy via email (also incorrectly addressed) and only refers them to the lawyer. After consulting with the law firm, the restaurant is closed and we as customers have no chance of getting our money back. This way of dealing with customers is really outrageous and bottomless.

In my opinion, cake is overpriced

I always enjoy visiting Café Kostbar, especially because the menu changes with the seasons, consistently offering new and innovative dishes. However, I must admit I was slightly underwhelmed by the spring menu this time. I ordered the Ménage à Trois and found that the stuffing in the mushroom and the patty did not quite meet my expectations. On a positive note, the lasagna and the accompanying sauce were excellent. For dessert, I had the Erdbeer Frischkäse Törtchen, which was absolutely delightful, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I would like to offer a small suggestion: across various menus, I have noticed that the amount of sauce provided tends to be insufficient for the entire dish. The sauce often runs out quickly, leaving the rest of the meal somewhat dry. I would recommend serving a more generous portion of sauce to enhance the overall dining experience. I look forward to visiting again and seeing what new creations the next season brings!

A real discovery! The Kostbar is simply a delightful place - furnished with great attention to detail and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and attentive, you immediately feel welcome. The food was excellent: creative, fresh and prepared with lots of taste. We were also really impressed by the wine selection - very well coordinated and of high quality. We'll definitely be back!

Food was delicious. I ordered a daily special, Bliesgauer oven schnitzel with fries and salad. I also had an apple spritzer and a coffee. It was very sunny that day, so I sat outside in the beer garden and ate. Since it was probably not planned for you to be able to sit outside, the beer garden didn't look that tidy. Otherwise there is a very pleasant crowd here and the waitresses are also very nice and attentive. It's in a backyard, so it's very pleasant and quiet. If I come to Saarbrücken again, I'll definitely eat something here again.

Second visit - unfortunately disappointing again This was my second time here - hoping that my first, rather negative impression was perhaps just a bad day. After all, this can happen to anyone. Unfortunately, I was disappointed again and my experiences unfortunately coincide with many other negative reviews. To eat: As a starter I ordered the antipasti with Mediterranean grilled vegetables for €10.80. The description sounded promising - but what was served was a slice of zucchini, two slices of eggplant, a few green olives, three strips of rocket, some dried tomatoes and a tablespoon of pomegranate seeds. The taste was completely irrelevant and definitely not what I expected. The main course - green asparagus risotto with dried tomatoes and fresh herbs on marinated rocket €16.80, supplemented with medallions of Argentine pastured beef - was also disappointing. The risotto was extremely hot, so much so that the first bite burned your mouth. It was just soggy, with no depth or flavor. The rocket on top was completely overcooked due to the heat, the “dried tomato” consisted of exactly one. The two small strips of beef (for an additional €10.60) were tough - one of them was even raw inside. In total we paid around €88 for two people. About the service: When we arrived we were sent upstairs - where the waiter casually directed us to the table with a “here”. No friendly welcome, no water, no drinks menu - this only came after around ten minutes. We waited half an hour for the drinks. After exactly an hour the starter arrived, another 40 minutes later the main course. No asking if we would like something else to drink – we had to make ourselves known. The ambience in the courtyard is actually really nice – especially in the evening with the lights. But if service, quality and price-performance are not at all consistent, that is unfortunately not enough to save the overall impression. We seriously considered giving up after an hour of waiting and going somewhere else to eat - in hindsight we probably should have. Conclusion: Even though they say all good things come in threes - we definitely won't come a third time. Price, service and taste are disproportionate here.

The price is truly outrageous for brunch. We paid €64 for two people, including a coffee each. The price includes half a glass of orange juice (or sparkling wine)! The breakfast is served on a corner table in the middle of a passageway. It's not a good spot for it, as there simply isn't enough space to reach every plate/key. Positives: There was a good selection and it was tasty; the service was friendly. Conclusion: It was tasty, but not worth the money. It's a shame...

€28 for brunch isn't justified for this selection. The taste still leaves much room for improvement. Many plates weren't clean, and the buffet wasn't particularly hygienic either. We can't recommend it.

A special place for special occasions and a great movie night at Kino 8 1/2!

It was our first time there, the occasion was Valentine's Day. The menus on the website were promising, so we had high expectations. And we weren't disappointed. The dishes were lovingly prepared and tasted great. Many thanks to the kitchen. The service was always attentive and we never had to wait. It was great that people always came up to us, asked us about the next course and also offered us alternatives. The tables were beautifully set and the atmosphere was cozy. All in all we felt very well looked after. One point of criticism is the hard chairs. In addition, the tables were a bit close together, but that was simply due to the size of the room. It was a shame, but the restaurant couldn't help it that we were absolutely overdressed. We would have expected the people around us to dress a little better and have appropriate manners on Valentine's Day.

We went there twice in total and the rating is an average of both visits. The Sunday brunch was great! The selection of breakfast and hot dishes was great, much of it homemade and far above the normal standard. Unfortunately, the lunch visit was a bit disappointing in comparison. The actual food was significantly different from the description on the menu. A burnt supplement was quickly replaced with an alternative following a complaint. There was no daily special announced on the menu. Overall, both dishes tasted ok. The menu included an overview of drinks. Prices, but no wines. There is probably a separate card for this. Without a menu, we chose two wines from a recommendation on the wall in the restaurant, although there were no prices. It's certainly our fault that we didn't ask, but 1 glass of Primitivo 2cl for over 11 euros surprised us negatively when we received the bill.

Starter: Beetroot tartare, too chunky, tasteless Main course: cream schnitzel, potato wedges, frozen quality, cream sauce cheap and wrong... guess powder from the discounter, potatoes dry and bland Dessert: Creme brulet, I've never seen it so bad, watery, couldn't eat it without a crust, went back...disgusting. Alternatively, I was offered a parfait, which unfortunately didn't taste good either, smelled disgusting and was a real solid mush. We were there in a group as part of a departmental celebration, and many expected something better here. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean good. As an apology for the terribly bad dessert, every person who ordered "creme brulee" was given a piece of cake that I didn't dare touch. I avoid this restaurant that disqualified itself at the premiere.

We went to the restaurant for brunch with a larger group as part of a birthday party. From the planning to the delicious food to the friendly service - everything was great! Gemütliches Lokal, nette Bedienung, entspannte Atmosphäre. Wir hatten alle drei Boeuf Bourguignon, das hat uns schon so angemacht, als wir es auf anderen Tellern gesehen hatte......wie bei Muttern! Soooo lecker! Es hätte aber schon noch einige Alterniativen, die sich ebenso lecker anhörten, gegeben. Die Getränkekarte war mehr als ausreichend.

Typical café in a backyard in the Nauwieser district. We ate cake and drank coffee. Food and drinks were okay, although I was increasingly questioning the pricing and whether it was worth it. The service is attentive and quick. In addition, you are left in peace without being constantly asked. The environment is what it is. I think it's worth coming here, but I still had the impression that with a little good will and a little material to design the outside area, the ambience can be improved.

We are happy every time we go here to eat. We've never had anything to complain about. The needs of allergy sufferers are also addressed and alternatives are conjured up. This time we were able to sit in the beautiful beer garden. For starters we shared three types of bruschetra. For the main course I had the Oriental grand menu with falafel, my wife had a goat cheese tower. We are not vegetarians, but we often eat vegetarian dishes here because it is simply delicious and varied. Short and sweet: great food, great service, nice atmosphere.

As always, very good food and great ambience. The menu is really great. Vegetarian, vegan and meat dishes. So really something for everyone. However, after a long wait, we were finally served the red wine we ordered, which had probably been sitting in the blazing sun; it was so warm that we couldn't drink it. When we complained about this, we received the answer: "Here the red wine is always served like this". No response to our complaint. However, the red wine was not charged, but again without a word. Anyway, the staff wasn't as friendly, quick and in a good mood as the last time. No smile, no kind word, nothing. Even a bit unfriendly. Unfortunately the menu is quite difficult to understand. After asking twice, I finally came clean. I think that's a shame because I've always recommended the café to others.

I had reserved a table for 6 people but it was only for 5 people. I asked the staff and the answer was to get a chair but the table was against a tree and there was no room for a chair. It's such a shame. You plan an evening with friends and experience disappointment. We were treated very unfriendly by two waitresses. No smile, no real service. There was no bread for food. We had to ask for cutlery, only to have it handed to us by a very disgruntled waitress. The food didn't come at the same time and when it was served, again with an icy expression. I observed that this was the case at many other tables as well. My food was miserable. An "oriental" plate should taste at least a little oriental. Everything here was dry and tasteless. The salad was drenched in a dressing that only tasted like cheap vinegar. The food of the others at my table was no better. Unfortunately never again. The food here is disproportionately expensive and I was sorry for every cent. What remains are the really unfriendly faces of the waitresses.

Absolutely incomprehensible how anyone can give this more than one star. It started with the waitress standing next to the table without saying a word to take the order. No "hello", no question about what we want to order, absolutely nothing. Not a single word. When placing the order, it was not pointed out that the burgers came without fries and accordingly no one was asked if one would like any side dish. The standard question as to whether you would rather order a large bottle of water instead of two small bottles of water did not come up. Not tragic, but still funny. When the food came after a while of waiting (two of four plates, we then had to wait another 5 minutes for the others while the food got cold), we didn't have any cutlery and had to specifically ask for it. Everything up to this point is pretty questionable, but not terrible yet. However, this applies to the food itself. The burgers were so dry that you basically couldn't eat the bun because it crumbled when you cut it. Since there was no side dish or sauce, they were actually inedible. My schnitzel was so tough that you thought it had been prepared at lunchtime and then just warmed up in the microwave. It's a shame because the location itself is really beautiful. Unfortunately, we will never come back, especially for these prices.

Nicht durchschnittlich hingegen war der Service. [...] Wir haben heute viel zu tun, boah ey[...]. Unsere Bedienungen: muckelige Muffelmuckel mit mieser Laune - zumindest uns gegenüber! Grauer Burgunder zum Essen bestellt, genau 2min nachdem die Teller aus Höflichkeit angeleert waren, versucht zu servieren. Zurückgehen lassen. "[...]Puuuh. haben viel zu tun, boah ey.[...]"Zudem stolperte die Bedienung noch ein unbestelltes Bier an unseren Platz, welches wir natürlich abgelehnt haben. Nichtsdestotrotz wurde uns das Bier, obwohl vor Bezahlung alle Speisen und Getränke (außer das nicht Bestellte Bier) von der Bedienung einzeln aufgerufen worden waren, in Rechnung gestellt. Mit Karte gezahlt, also Bon ohne Einzelposten erhalten. Zurück, Bewirtungsbon mit Einzelposten angefordert... und, siehe da.... Fehler köönen natürlich im Trubel passieren /*boah ey/*. Mag sein, kann sein. Nun, für meine Bekannte und mich bleibt nach der GANZEN positiven Bewertung fürs Cafe???Kostbar???/*nice/* nur ein Fazit übrig: Jedem das SEINE. Porto Veccio RULES!!!

We had our 50th high school class reunion here. Since the weather was nice, we were able to sit in the beer garden. The service was very friendly and attentive. The menu offered something for everyone. We were pleasantly surprised by the large selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. We enjoyed it very much. It was a very beautiful evening.

It was a bit crowded..... Um es vorsichtig zu formulieren. Auf deutsch: man hat zum Ostermenü den Raum vollkommen überbesetzt und dabei auch die eigene Leistungsfähigkeit überschätzt. Viel zu voll, Küche kam nicht mehr richtig hinterher, was uns selbst zum Glück nur beim Nachtisch traf. Wein kam nach dem Hauptgang, Sehr laut, kein persönliches Wort möglich, da man den Tischnachbarn schon am frühen Abend fast auf dem Schoß saß. Weder Menge noch Qualität des Essens passten zum Preis. Schade. Nicht zu empfehlen.

At the bar, where a completely drunk guest spilled his beer, we were directed outside again to pay. Back outside, the waiter realized he didn't have any money, so he had to go back in. Ridiculous chaos. Additions after the restaurant's response dated 2024-03-17: Yes, I wrote my review in the summer. However, I edited it a few days ago because I noticed a typo. I assume that's why she came to your attention and you responded after not responding for several months. I agree that you can't immediately tell how drunk someone is. In this specific case, this was already more than obvious at the time I wanted to pay. And in this case, I expect you to act faster and more decisively and forcefully expel the guest from the restaurant immediately. Furthermore, I expect your staff to remain professional towards the other guests in such a situation and not to order them from A to B to A to B in order to simply pay.

Nach sehr gutem Auftritt im Netz und schönen Bewertungen waren wir sonntags zum Abendessen dort. Leider sehr unzufriedenstellend! Der Ober begrüßte uns mit Kopf am Bestelltablet und vor sich hin murmelnd, er habe Sonderbestellungen zu tätigen - das würde nunmal dauern... Er war den ganzen Abend über angestrengt und wirkte gestresst - es waren 5 Tische besetzt! Ein herzlicher Empfang/nette Behandlung sieht m.E. anders aus. Der Hauptgang kam bereits innerhalb von 10 Minuten - man fragt sich, ob alles schnell aufgewärmt wurde? Die Fettuccine mit Rotkohl und frittiertem Rucola klangen toll, waren aber leider matschig und geschmacklos, und frittiert war nichts, es gab nicht mal Rucola, nur Feldsalatblättchen als Garnitur. Die Lasagne war wohl zu lang in der Mikrowelle gewesen? - sah "dunkel" aus, war an manchen Stellen heiß und an manchen lauwarm - außen vertrocknet und hart. Wir MUSSTEN reklamieren. Die zweite war ein bisschen besser. Immerhin schmeckte man Steinpilze. Die Küche hat sonntags nur bis 20 Uhr offen, was nirgends kommuniziert war. Sitzen kann man länger dort, aber Nachtisch bestellen eben nicht mehr... Leider für uns durchgefallen - wir werden so schnell nicht mehr hingehen!

There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan dishes that are unusual and not so boring. The service was super nice! We will definitely come back more often. I'm curious whether the quality can be maintained in summer. A beautiful outdoor area under the trees. Unfortunately our table was pretty dirty and wasn't cleaned. The service was very slow but friendly. Many ingredients have a certificate of origin, a lot of them are organic and from the region.

I've been there several times, it's lovely to sit outside in the summer. The service is usually good to very good. The food is, let's say: healthy. The carrot soup consists e.g. on pureed carrots, similar to a baby food. A little flavor in the form of spices, cream,... wouldn't hurt. Some dishes are also very good, for example we had an excellent fillet of beef for the main course. You should be careful with the prices: unfortunately the customer is not king here, but the boss's wallet. Drink recommendations are often printed, but the prices are deliberately left out. For example, you pay almost 12(!) euros for 200ml of wine. Which, considering the fact that it's an average wine (bottle price online 6€) and the fact that there are also main courses for the same money, is simply usury. Even in the city's good restaurants you won't find such prices. So with the friendly service staff, always insist on the menu/exact price information, otherwise the evening will quickly become unintentionally expensive!!

There were two of us on a Friday evening, super friendly service from Simo and a young colleague who had just started...Simo knows 100% how good service works... just great...we had completely special requests from the starter to the two main courses... no problem for him or the kitchen... it was implemented as desired... great... I find the prices for open wines 0.2 slightly overpriced... and The two tables are too close to each other for me... depending on where you sit... but all in all a great, super cozy location with 100% recommendation, large selection for vegetarians and lots of fresh, seasonal and regional food and a great one in the summer Beer garden in the inner courtyard

Hello folks, What I was able to experience last Sunday at a friend's birthday party was really fantastic. In the catering industry we see again and again that more and more simple dishes are being prepared by people who don't necessarily know anything about cooking. Half-finished or extremely simple dishes are increasingly being used in the catering industry. At some point it's no longer fun to go out to eat somewhere. Admittedly, I didn't know what to expect on my birthday either. But as soon as we looked at the buffet and ate we quickly noticed that there were people working there who could really cook and who obviously enjoyed pampering guests with their skills. We were able to enjoy an exciting culinary journey from Europe to African influences, simply fantastic and imaginative. Simply a pleasure for a few hours. I was also impressed by the selection of wines, I can just tell that people are passionate about their work.

Hallo Leute, was ich am letzten Sonntag bei der Geburtstagsfeier einer Freundin erleben durfte war wirklich phantastisch. In der Gastro erleben wir immer wieder, dass immer mehr einfältige Gerichte von Menschen zubereitet werden, die nicht unbedingt Ahnung vom Kochen haben. Immer mehr ziehen halbfertige oder mega einfache Gerichte in der Gastronomie ein. irgendwann macht es keinen Spaß mehr irgendwohin essen zu gehen. Zugegeben wusste ich auch nicht was mich auf dem Geburtstag erwartet. Aber schon beim Anblick des Buffet und beim Essen habe wir sehr schnell gemerkt, dass da Menschen arbeiten, die wirklich kochen können und die offensichtlich eine Freude daran haben Gäste mit Ihrem Können zu verwöhnen. Wir durften eine spannende kulinarische Reise von Europa bis hin zu afrikanischen Einflüssen genießen, einfach nur phantastisch und phantasievoll. Einfach ein Genuss über einige Stunden. ebenso hat und die Weinauswahl begeistert, mein merkt einfach das Menschen mit Leidenschaft am Werk sind.

Profit maximization before guest welfare. I had made a reservation for three people three weeks before our appointment (an invitation for my birthday), it wasn't a spontaneous visit. The three of us were squeezed into a table for two next to the kitchen; it was cramped, loud and hectic. We didn't really feel comfortable all evening long. With all the aperitif glasses, water glasses, wine glasses and plates on the table, it was more like a game of Tetris where you had to put down what you had in your hand. At least the food and wine were good, but my smoked tofu "Cordon Bleu" was a ridiculously puny portion. In the gallery on the website you can see a photo of a well-filled plate with three large packets of Filou with tofu; I had two small packets on my plate. So much for the difference between advertising and reality. My dessert, the date crumble, was larger than the main course, but at least I was full afterwards. Nobody from the service asked us if we were satisfied, whether we liked it, whether we wanted anything else, or poured more wine. Nobody cared about our well-being. Like at McDonalds: Guest, eat, drink, pay and leave! I will spend the 180 euros that I paid there yesterday in another location in the future.

Cozy restaurant that values ​​regional and seasonal products. We always enjoy coming here because of the good selection of freshly prepared dishes. Naturellement also because of the ambience and the good service. During the warm season you can also sit outside.

Exceptionally friendly service, cozy atmosphere and fast service - I would never have thought how good a fried celery root could taste. Only recommended :)

Vorspeisen waren sehr lecker. Die Pasta mit der roten Bete war leider wirklich nicht gut. Preise sind dafür zu hoch. Service war okay, aber nicht herausragend. Zu viel gewollt und dafür leider zu schlecht umgesetzt. Einfachere Gerichte, bisschen cleaner alles, es muss nicht alles super fancy sein - dann wäre es um einiges angenehmer gewesen. So leider eine Enttäuschung.

Standesamtliche Hochzeit. ESSEN lecker, schnelle sehr nette Bedienung (Dominik) Schönes gemütliches Ambiente.

Wir waren zu dritt zu Gast an einem Freitag. Der Empfang war herzlich. Ich möchte an dieser Stelle die Küche besonders hervorheben. Das Essen war sehr gut. Tolle Qualität, das Essen kam heiß zu Tisch und schmeckte hervorragend. Wir hatten 3 unterschiedliche Hauptspeisen und 2 unterschiedliche Nachspeisen und waren alle rundum zufrieden, wenn nicht sogar ein Stück begeistert. Der Service könnte allerdings besser sein. Bis auf die erste Runde Getränke (wobei auch ein Getränk vergessen wurde) mussten wir stets eine Servicekraft rufen, um weitere Bestellungen aufzugeben. Dies zog sich durch den ganzen Abend. Auch die Dessertkarte mussten wir uns verlangen und auch hier auf uns aufmerksam machen, als wir bestellen wollten. Schade, auch für das Restaurant, denn wir hätten sicherlich das ein oder andere Getränk mehr zu uns genommen. Alles in allem jedoch absolut einen Besuch wert.

Im Großen und Ganzen sehr enttäuschend…..Preis Leistung stimmt hier überhaupt nicht ! Schade

Super toller Ort für deine Geschmackssinne .... sehr spontan wurde für mich alleine ein Plätzchen bereitgestellt. Ich denke aber reservieren ist ab 2 Personen notwendig. Das Essen war phantastisch. Mir war vorher nicht bewusst welche Perle das hier ist. Ich war aber definitiv nicht das letzte mal hier. Der Gruß aus der Küche ließ mich wissen, dass mein Essen eine falsche Entscheidung war. Es war zwar sehr lecker, aber die Idee mit dem Gemüse hat mir gezeigt, dass ich das nächste mal gerne etwas Experimente durch die Gemüse Küche wählen werde. Danke für den angenehmen Service und den kulinarischen Ausflug. Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Great ambience. Excellent place to go for a special treat, party, date or with colleagues. One of the best places in Saarbrucken for sure. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. And yes, the prices are on the higher side for sure, but as I said it's a great place for special occasions.

Toller Innenhof, freundliches und aufmerksames Personal. Leckeres Essen, Portionen groß genug (obwohl der Appetit auch mal größer sein kann 😉). Sehr empfehlenswert für einen lauen Sommerabend.

Wir hatten einen schönen Mittag bei Kaffee und leckerem Kuchen. Sehr gemütliches und schönes Ambiente. Alle Kuchen waren sehr lecker.

1x Steak und 1x Burger der Burger wurde falsch gemacht kam dann nochmal sehr enttäuscht! Das Steak war ok aber nicht das beste! Sorry, wir waren vom Preis-Leistung sehr enttäuscht... zumal es so gehypt wird.

Sehr empfehlenswert! Super Service ! Sehr leckeres Essen . Wir wurden mit Wolldecken verwöhnt und konnten so ganz gemütlich draußen unter einem schönen Baum der mit Lichtern geschmückt ist , sitzen . Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt bei euch !
