I was able to spend my birthday there, albeit one day later. The food was simply divine. You feel very comfortable there, like you're with friends or family. No wish remains unfulfilled. We'd be happy to come back again.

First of all, I have to say that I'm in a bit of an autumnal mood today and am therefore trying to keep some of my negative criticism under control. Since my favorite weekend restaurant in Lampertheim (the Gartenklause) is closing at the end of this year, I'm looking for a successor. I value the quality of the food and attentive, friendly service. Ambience and pricing are less important to me. I ate a breaded pork chop and a Kaiserschmarrn. The main thing, the chop, was of excellent meat quality and also fried nice and juicy with a good crust. It doesn't quite come close to the best pork chop I know (from Georg Adelfinger, a former star chef), especially when it comes to the breading, but that can definitely be described as a complaint on a very high level. I found the side dishes to be technically pretty good (the potatoes were a bit too hot though), but they didn't quite match the meat. I prefer good fried potatoes and a fresh salad here. But that is probably a bit subtle and others may see it differently. The Kaiserschmarrn was a little above average for German standards. There was excellent ice cream and apricot compote with it, but the dough wasn't as crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as Holger Fleischmann (Weinkabinett Fleischmann), for example, can achieve when he makes it as an exception outside the menu and thus effortlessly achieves the Austrian original. For me, Kaiserschmarrn also includes raisins and roasted almond slivers. Then the side dishes fade into the background and that's how it should be. The service was good, I received friendly support when studying the menu. The young waitress didn't necessarily have the "wide-angle view" of an experienced and committed waitress and I had to draw attention to myself a little more clearly on two occasions, but I don't want to put that on the table today, when I unfortunately feel a certain irritability. What I didn't like was how the landlady grabbed my right hand with both hands when greeting me to warm herself (hers were so cold). I didn't find it unpleasantly touchy, but since I still use the Corona greeting, it was a little too "contact" for me during the autumn infection season. She's just a bold type and I just kept quiet. ☺️

I was there this evening. Great ambience and really tasty dishes. Unfortunately I wanted to order a starter as a main course. According to the waiter, that wasn't possible. We do not serve starters as main courses! I had to use a double portion of the goat cheese in puff pastry. Where is someone telling me what and how much I want to eat? Unfortunately, there were also misunderstandings with the strawberry hugo (very, very tasty). With ice cream and strawberries, the glass was only half full. Until now I knew Hugo in well-filled glasses. When I asked, they were happy to fill me up with sparkling wine. But I'm a little disappointed about these practices.

I just read two of my old books. The “Good Mood - Getting to Know Menu” for 23.50. That would be a reason for us to visit the restaurant again. A quick look at the homepage: The owners complain about the current taxes for cleaning and toilet rolls, among other things. Nonsense. It's not easy as a restaurant owner, but there are enough tax advantages, otherwise the kebab owners wouldn't have Porsche cars. Almost 100 lists of what the owners currently have to pay (over half of them are unnecessary), it's better to save the money and offer an introductory menu for under 30 euros again. If I add up the starter with the main course and dessert, I come to just under 60 euros, which is over 200 DM (adjusted for inflation).

The restaurant has larger and smaller dining rooms in which you can dine excellently with smaller and larger groups. All rooms are modernly furnished and air conditioned. The service leaves nothing to be desired. Courtesy and guest orientation seem to be the owner's maxim. The menu is clear and contains all kinds of dishes with a slight orientation towards southern Germany. No wonder! Because as we found out, the chef (son) has been cooking in Switzerland for years. Both starter and main course were fantastic, designed not only for the palate but also for the eye. We can only recommend this restaurant. And if you are planning a city gate to Worms, for example for the Nibelungen Festival, you should definitely plan a detour to Horchheim Ins “STOLPERECK”. I can highly recommend this restaurant. Reservations are urgently required. I will gladly come again.
