Restaurant Side in Bochum

I can only give this one star! We had reserved a table here for December 24th, 2024 and received a confirmation by email. On December 24th We then stood in front of a locked door at 6 p.m. I think it's unnecessary to say that you can't spontaneously get a table anywhere else on Christmas Eve! As a result, Christmas Eve was canceled for us. The next day my mother asked why it wasn't open. She was then told that there had been no reservation at all. Although there is evidence of confirmation by email. Not a word of apology. And on a day like this. When we asked about the reservation platform, we were told that the restaurant operator had clearly confirmed the appointment. The fault clearly lies with the restaurant! Still not a word of apology - emails are simply not responded to. Very unfriendly to customers, just very unfriendly. Also towards my almost 80 year old mother. We'll never eat here again.

Went there for the first time yesterday and received a very warm welcome. The restaurant was full - but the very friendly service staff took the time to explain the dishes. The service was very attentive and friendly all the time. The dishes were very tasty and completely sufficient. We agreed (4 people) that we would come here more often.

We went to the restaurant for dinner yesterday and ordered grill plate number 70. All of the grilled food was not freshly grilled but just warmed up. Accordingly, the meat was very hard and completely dry. This wouldn't have happened in any Turkish snack bar with a charcoal grill. Ambience and service were good. And of course I can't say anything about the other dishes, but I won't try them either😉

It was our first time there and overall we were very satisfied. The lady who served us was very friendly, courteous and attentive. The gentleman who served us was also attentive, but his mood was neutral and seemed a bit annoyed/dissatisfied. Overall, we were served attentively. The meals were good. We order a starter, main course and dessert. It was tasty and reasonably priced. Large selection available for every taste. There was also a filled roll of dough free of charge as a starter and a raki after paying “on the house”. Flatbread also free of charge upon request. I find that very nice and must be gratefully mentioned. Unfortunately the rice was sold out and there was no schnapps that I wanted. But it's not that bad, we found good alternatives. We really like the atmosphere. This style and design of the room is great. The benches and chairs are comfortable, it looks clean and well-kept. The toilets are nostalgic but functional and clean. We were very satisfied and would come back. We also make a recommendation.

I wanted to invite my grandma to the Side restaurant for her birthday. DISAPPOINTMENT! They didn't want to let us in because we hadn't made a reservation. Even though I waited 20 minutes for us to somehow get a seat, they finally said that it wasn't possible. Very disappointed. NEVER AGAIN !!

The Turkish restaurant Side impressed us with its delicious food! The grill plate was particularly enjoyable – fresh, juicy and wonderfully seasoned. The ambience of the restaurant is a real highlight: beautifully furnished, with a Mediterranean flair that invites you to linger. A small downside were the cold plates, which allowed the food to cool down more quickly, as well as the somewhat cool temperatures in the dining room, which was noticeable in winter weather. Nevertheless, the positive experience outweighs the negatives and we would be happy to come back!

Unfortunately, so far the worst Turkish restaurant we have visited. I had a plate with a lot of meat and it was okay, but my wife had ordered a casserole with pasta, lamb and cheese gratinated for 18.50 euros and you had to look for the lamb. It felt like it consisted of 50 percent onions and tasted watery. You could only eat the pasta, cheese and the minimal pieces of lamb. The salad and the small dough rolls as a starter were very good!

A really tasty, very clean restaurant in the heart of Hattingen. Everything was friendly and attentive throughout. Drinks are a bit more expensive, but the food is really good. My rack of lamb was pretty undercooked, but the lamb chops, turkey and steak were on point!

Constructive review for the restaurant “Side” in Bochum Last Friday I had a reservation for 6 p.m. at the “Side” restaurant in Bochum. My companion and I arrived on time and were warmly greeted and escorted to our table, which left a positive first impression. We had already decided in advance for menu 1, which includes a grill plate, 8 starters (5 cold and 3 warm) and a dessert for €29.90. To our great delight, we were even offered 2 additional starters as a nice gesture, which surprised us very positively. The starters were served very quickly, within about 5-10 minutes, and tasted excellent. Unfortunately, after enjoying the starters, there was an unexpectedly long wait for the main course. After over an hour had passed and we had not yet received the grill plate, I spoke to the waiter Ahmed in a friendly manner at 7:15 p.m. I politely pointed out that we had an important appointment at 8 p.m. and asked for the main course to be served promptly. To my surprise, the waiter explained to me that I should have communicated when we were finished with the starters in order to receive the main course. This statement was incomprehensible and unprofessional to me, as one normally assumes that the empty plates will be cleared away and the main course will follow promptly. Even more surprising was that other guests who had placed similar orders at the same time had already received and even eaten their main course while we continued to wait. Unfortunately, when the meal was finally served at 7:30 p.m., it was too late to make our next appointment (bowling) on ​​time, which threw our entire evening schedule into disarray. Although the food itself was tasty, the long wait and unprofessional communication was disappointing for us. The other two waitresses, who always served us in a friendly and attentive manner and regularly asked if everything was OK, deserve a positive mention. They received a generous tip from me for their excellent service. Unfortunately I couldn't say this about Ahmed's service, which is why I only paid him the exact amount. Conclusion: • Positive: Friendly welcome, good food, generous gesture with the additional starters, attentive service from the female waitresses. • Negative: Unprofessional communication by the waiter Ahmed, excessively long wait for the main course, which disrupted our evening plan. Overall, the experience was unfortunately marred, although the start was promising. It would be desirable for the service team to be better coordinated to avoid such misunderstandings.

It was my third time there and I was still dissatisfied. This time the side dish I ordered was not brought. Waited briefly. Nothing came. The waitress then spoke to us. that the supplement is still missing. Answer: Coming immediately. Of course the supplement didn't come. Again I didn't ask and ate the food. In addition, the skewer was only lukewarm. Seemed warmed up. When I was clearing up, I informed the staff of the two deficiencies. A silent apology follows. I've had enough now. I won't come back and therefore won't recommend the store.

If you mention allergies several times and the waitress says it's not a problem, then I expect the promise to be kept. Very easy! The online menu even says that special requests will be taken into account because everything is freshly prepared and you should just talk to the staff. We did that - forcefully and repeatedly! Unfortunately, it wasn't taken into account at all, everything came to the table wrong and inedible and at some point we didn't feel like saying anything anymore. We wanted to have a relaxed meal and not an evening of discussion. It's a shame, it's actually a nice shop and the boss is nice too. He tried to save with 2 mochas on the house but unfortunately it was still disappointing for us.

This was the first time I had real Turkish food and I have to say it was very 😋. The only thing I found very expensive were the drinks: 0.5 liters of cola for €6.50 isn't without it. But otherwise everything was very good, so we'll definitely come back again.

We go out to eat very often. We wanted to enjoy a nice evening at Side (50th birthday)! We were there 20 years ago and one of us was even a regular guest. We had lost sight of it when we moved and now we wanted to discover it again when we returned to Bochum. A table for 4 was reserved by phone. It was 30 C outside and rain was forecast. We would have liked to sit inside, but the waiter told us that inside was closed. I would have liked to have been informed when booking. The order was taken without a smile, even though all 4 of us ordered nicely with smiles. Questions about the dishes were answered unfriendly. Then a strong wind picked up, sending leaves flying into our drinks and appetizers. Our hair and clothes were full of dried flowers. All the other tables had already finished their main course. We asked several times if we could go in. We were only able to get in when the rain started. Inside we were served by an even more unfriendly waiter. The food wasn't good. Dry, tasteless meat, limp fries and about 15 flies at our table. We weren't noticed at all during the meal. Ordering drinks is therefore impossible. We left immediately after paying. Never again!!!!! For the first time in my life I didn't tip. P. S. The prices on the homepage are not correct. My dish was €5 more expensive.

Nice restaurant. Large beer garden. Also sat outside in the summer. Prices are manageable, but I have to give some tips. Please place the 4 different sauces (meze) individually in a separate bowl. Everything came on a plate. Unfortunately the flatbread wasn't fresh either. Cold and old. The meat tasted like nothing. Absolutely no grilled taste. This is not a grill (Izgara) if you judge by taste. Drinks Cola Fanta and Co are poured from liter bottles into glasses. A pity. Please get real drinks. Some drinks are diluted with Lidl mineral water. So either lower the price if you do that or have real drinks delivered. That doesn't work. Mostly German guests. You could get a lot more out of the garden. I wouldn't come again.

Went there briefly in the evening and took a drink with us. According to the advertisement, 2.80. I was charged 4.00 euros. The kitchen was closed at 10 p.m. I would have liked to test the store, but not if I'm going to be so messed up.

We “had to” eat in the beer garden. It was Friday and very well attended. We ordered the SIDE grill plate. My wife had bread and yogurt garlic sauce and I had fries and yogurt garlic sauce. Everything was very tasty, especially the small salad. One complaint would be that the bread was basically in the sauce and therefore nothing was crispy anymore. The waitress said next time you would like to have the sauce extra. The amount of grilled plates was enough for us, but we are older people, so there could have been a little more. There was very little kebab meat on the plate. Conclusion beer garden, food, service top.

We often go out to eat regularly, in different restaurants of different nationalities...whether Turkish, Greek, Italian or Spanish cuisine. The decisive factor was the online menu that fish was offered. When we arrived, we were quickly assigned a table, unfortunately it took a while until someone came and realized that there was no fish on the menu! That's absolutely not possible, you can't offer a fish menu online and on site we get the message...it's no longer worth it. What we ate was okay, but we don't need it again. There are better...

I've eaten Turkish food several times. And I also had the opportunity to eat traditional Turkish food through many Turkish friends. That's why I would like to say that the quality of the food is good and the taste is OK. But for what I get it's too expensive and the ambience reminds me of a good "chip shop" (that's not meant in a bad way) but unfortunately the service doesn't suit me and I won't be coming back.

We ate there for the first time yesterday with Schlemmerblock. The food was averagely good. Not greasy. Whether you want to or not, when you take part in the Schlemnerblock you shouldn't try to rip people off. You can see it in the photo. It doesn't work at all.

Average Turkish cuisine, not greasy, food tasty, portions okay. Staff is like that, unfortunately one woman obviously didn't have her best day, the others were very nice. Toilet is very clean, but more of an 80s style. Overall okay, but it doesn't have to happen again for us.

Great cuisine, the food never disappoints. In summer you can sit comfortably outside, there are four parking spaces on site, otherwise you have to see what parking options you can find on the street. No long waiting times and friendly service.
