Restaurant Schnitzler Erfurt in Erfurt

We were there at the weekend and spontaneously got a table from the friendly and quick service. The food, however, is only for lovers of ready-made products. The salad at the front was fresh from the plastic bag, the sauerkraut was mushy, the mashed potatoes were pale and tasteless and the so-called "rust" bratwurst never saw any rust. All in all, quite a disappointment, there are definitely a lot of better restaurants in the surrounding area.

We went to Schnitzler for the first time today and were pleasantly surprised. Ambience and food top 👍🏻., service friendly and accommodating. Gladly again !

Went there spontaneously on Tuesday evening, it was pretty full, but I still managed to get a seat. The lady from the service was very quick and super friendly. The menu offers schnitzel of every kind and every side dish imaginable. I chose a schnitzel with champion sauce and fries. Unfortunately the schnitzel consisted of almost more breading than meat, and quite a lot of fries too. There was no ketchup or mayo included, but you could certainly have gotten them for an additional charge. Service and ambience - great! Food - okay.

We were there shortly after 9 p.m. on a Friday evening and would have liked to have eaten something delicious. We were rudely told that the kitchen had already closed. The restaurant is open until midnight. An indictment of the kitchen when it comes to opening times. There are definitely better addresses in Erfurt. The restaurant gives the impression of being “a little above” due to its location. It’s actually a real shame for the otherwise really excellent hospitality in Erfurt..

Service is good, portions are plentiful. It's a shame for sauce fans that there is so little sauce in many dishes, you might have to order it additionally for an additional charge. Otherwise great!

We went to the restaurant spontaneously today. We received a very friendly welcome and were given a table straight away, even without a reservation. That was very positive. The selection of dishes was very appealing. The drinks were served quickly. Then the food came and our criticism was that the bacon beans were rather mushy, that was a shame, we imagined it differently. The fried potatoes could have been crispier. The pepper breading also didn't fit. Simply ground pepper on top is something else... The schnitzels were absolutely fine. Generally recommended. We will definitely come back

Generous portions at a reasonable price

If you like schnitzel, you'll get your money's worth here. However, you can too definitely recommend other dishes. Unfortunately, the vegetable side dishes in our three meals were cold or lukewarm. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars. The problem was easily solved with preheated plates. Otherwise everything was fine. Service top, taste top.

Highly recommended restaurant right on Cathedral Square! Food very good, especially the schnitzel dishes. With other dishes you can make small compromises... Portions are very good to a lot for the price and the location. This means the price/performance ratio is VERY good!

A restaurant that probably lives from walk-in customers. It's hard to imagine it as a "regular place". Recently had dinner there with the family and also 10 years ago. Nothing has changed... The various schnitzel dishes only differ in nuances, whereby the request for more sauce was answered with the saying: "then you have to buy another dish". Staff speaks and understands German poorly, guests were threatened with “expulsion from the house”. I found the only “disturbing” thing here is the GUEST.. Just read all the reviews, the overall impression is right!

Yesterday evening we spontaneously went to dinner at 8 p.m. without a reservation! We were lucky and there was still space in the basement (ambience is good). service was quick and polite. food was excellent and tasty. Requests for extra food, such as more sauce and no bird food, were immediately accommodated. was there for the first time and will be back! had hunter schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Just go later and you'll be able to get tables, at least during the week.

I was a guest at the location with my family for a birthday! We had reserved and were quickly assigned our place! The service was very quick and courteous despite the slight language barrier! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the food! We have been regular guests on and off for more than a decade! We remained loyal to the restaurant even during the Corona period! The food that was served to us today on December 19th, 2024 at around 8 p.m. was, to say the least, bottom drawer!!! What was ordered: 4×spiced meat and as a main course 2×steak with spiced meat. For reasons I couldn't explain, the starter was already a thickened roux with a few barely countable pieces of meat, but at least it was gratinated with edible cheese! The main course was the cherry on top! The "Würzfleisch" was a completely meatless roux baked with a processed cheese substitute, like the one I buy unrefrigerated at Aldi&Co! In my eyes, this wasn't even on the level of a snack bar!! I really hope that this was just a so-called slip-up on the part of the chef!! My guests and I were more than just disappointed!!!

Great restaurant, great portions. Very good value for money. Unfortunately, the service was very subpar, completely overwhelmed and there was hardly any presence at our table of 12 people. The restaurant is open until 11 p.m. We were rounded off around 10 p.m. with the words: LAST ROUND! Very, very unfortunate

Great, delicious food. But... Poor service, unfriendly waiters and an uncomfortable atmosphere.

We had already reserved a table for 6 people for 7:00 p.m. on Friday 12/6/24 in the summer. We arrived at the restaurant on time for our reservation, had to wait 30 minutes and then received the answer: “I don’t have a table available for the next 30 minutes”. When we politely asked what was going on with our reserved table, the answer we received was “the guests want to have a drink and don't want to leave yet and I don't care about their reservation”. We changed restaurants and had a delicious meal at the Hofbräuhaus. Absolutely not recommended!

We made a reservation but couldn't get a seat. Apparently it was received. Instead of apologizing, the boss got cheeky and said we can't get it anywhere else anyway. He just shrugged his shoulders. We were supposed to come an hour later. After waiting we got a seat. Luckily the service was very nice but the boss's behavior was cheeky and disrespectful. Food has also gone down a lot. We had a surprise record. Unfortunately there were only mostly side dishes left on it. And until we paid there was no apology from the boss in any form.

Unfortunately we couldn't eat anything here because you have to make a reservation. Been here for years without a reservation. There was nothing about it online. Then never again!

Yesterday we went to a Christmas party at Schnitzler with several people. We had already reserved several months in advance (received confirmation). We were there at 5 p.m. We were sent through the store to look for our table. First down into the basement (everything was occupied), then back up. Nobody there seemed to have a plan. Then we found a table and ordered. After 1.5 hours we got our food (around 6:30 p.m.). We wanted to order more drinks and were told: “No, I need the table straight away.” However, we hadn’t even finished eating and the next guests were already standing around our table. The owner stood behind his book and said, very annoyed, that he was the boss here and had informed us by email that we only had two hours. This was not true. We have the proof by email. After he couldn't explain himself any further, he said he said it on the phone. Now it was statement against statement. He continued to argue annoyed and in a cheeky tone and was unrivaled in his unfriendliness. We paid with the sentence “He has to generate sales” and yet we were very shocked at the way we were treated. The shop was packed, the waitress was annoyed, unfriendly and overwhelmed. The shop became more and more crowded. We will probably never eat there again and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing, nice evening in Erfurt.

It is recommended to reserve a table in advance.

Unfortunately far too crowded and loud. Every centimeter is full of seats. Sometimes refusing is more. But maybe it's only like that at Christmas time.

We were with a larger group at the Schnitzler in Erfurt. Despite reservations and renewed requests from the restaurant for the lecture, there were not enough seats. When we asked if we could get a table or at least a chair, the service person reacted very unfriendly and argued with us. The restaurant would be full and there would be no free chair. After 5 minutes it worked! We then had to wait 90 minutes for our food. The schnitzels were good, but the rest wasn't so good. I didn't expect red cabbage from a jar and hollandaise from a tetra pack there. Some of our food was cold. The service staff responded to our complaint again in a very unfriendly manner. The location of the restaurant is mega, the service is absolutely subpar.

Unfriendly service, poor organization, cold food. We don't think we need to say anything more about it, absolutely not recommended. Waited 1.5 hours for food, which was finally served cold. The staff totally unfriendly. The service was very reluctant. The food was rather mediocre, for well-known German dishes and especially as a schnitzel house, you can actually expect more. So you can save yourself a visit to this restaurant. Preferably 0 stars.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed during our visit. We were traveling with a larger group and made reservations weeks in advance. The environment was uncomfortable and cold, the staff appeared unfriendly, abrupt and annoyed, without a single smile. Behind the bar they were chatting animatedly on their cell phones and laughing. You should think about the external impact. The question arises - is the right staff employed? We also had to wait 1.5 hours for our food, which was then served cold. Although the service staff is not responsible for the cold food, their treatment of guests was unacceptable. For this reason we didn't leave a tip. The customer is always the focus. This way you won't leave satisfied guests. Too bad! We will not come back and will not recommend the restaurant.

It's always very busy, but also super loud. Waiting 100 minutes for the food is also too long.

The service is top (nice waitresses), the schnitzel is tasty, but some of the food is very dry and there is a small side dish missing (some decorative salad). There is, for example. 6 croquettes and a huge schnitzel and a piece of lemon. For the price you just expect more. If you sit in the basement there is a lack of ambience. The chairs are too high for the table and are cold and hard, you sit very hunched over and I'm already small. There is also simply a lack of cleanliness, the stairs are full of dirt, the toilets could also use more care, and in general the floor is sticky. For beer we are now at €5.50. That's completely excessive for a place like this. But that is generally a problem in Thuringia.

Very long waiting times for a table (10 minutes) even though several were free and for food (1 hour). It tasted delicious.

It seems difficult to get a seat in the evening as everything is reserved. I found the food horrible. The schnitzel tasted like fat and the toast was completely dried out. Spice was also missing.

We were very satisfied. Service, friendly, attentive, very nice. The food (pepper schnitzel) tasted wonderful. We had the wild mushroom soup as a starter, but unfortunately it scored zero points for us. Too bad, I ran past the mushroom. But what the heck, I would come back every time!

At the end of our company outing we were here at the Restaurant Schnitzler Erfurt. It was a really successful conclusion. Since the restaurant was extremely busy that day, we were told to pre-order the dishes. That was a great idea, we didn't have to wait, the service was quick and very friendly. The food was excellent and more than sufficient. Many thanks to the entire team, we would be happy to come back.

The food was really good, couldn't fault it. The service was also relatively quick. Unfortunately we sat in the middle and it was very loud. But sometimes you can't change that. Can't say anything else negative.

It was very crowded, we got a nice seat in the corner of the restaurant. We were immediately informed that it could take up to an hour to eat. Things went much faster and after about 20 minutes we got our schnitzels. Unfortunately, they were an absolute disappointment in terms of taste.

Unfortunately only 1 star from us. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, but unfortunately everything else wasn't right during our visit. We waited 1 hour for our food, which seemed very long to us (the people at the next table had their food after 20 minutes). When asked, there was no word of apology or explanation. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't any better. The burger bun was almost raw, the fries were already cold and soggy, the rice was sticky but hard, the feta garlic cream sauce only tasted like cream. The grilled vegetables were rock hard. The service was ok but not particularly friendly either. We were very disappointed and will not be returning. Too bad

The Schnitzler Restaurant offers, as the name might suggest, delicious schnitzel dishes. The large menu also includes dishes from Thuringian cuisine. However, the classic Rostbrätl did not suit my taste. Things look different with black beer goulash. Due to its location on Cathedral Square, the restaurant is always busy, so it makes sense to reserve a table. The restaurant and the toilet facilities are clean, modern and comfortably furnished. The ingredients used are of good quality, unfortunately some vegetable side dishes give the impression of being frozen. However, the price-performance ratio is very good - also considering the location on Cathedral Square. When ordering, you should indicate that you would like a little more sauce, as there is not that much on the plate. The staff is friendly and maintains professional work even under stress. This means that as a guest you quickly get the feeling of being welcome. We'd love to come back.

Unfortunately we didn't find it good at all, neither the service nor the food. Yes, the schnitzel is incredibly large and certainly the right thing for every lover. We ordered Schnitzel Hawai with croquettes and hollondaise. There was an above-average schnitzel, but there were only 4 croquettes with it, the sauce had to be paid for separately and unfortunately had nothing of a hollondaise at all, it was more like a roux. Unfortunately, the service wasn't the friendliest either. We actually expected more.

Unfortunately disappointing. We didn't like the draft beer, and some of the glasses had unpleasant smells. Cheese spaetzle was semi. Pork steak thin and cold and generally not visually appealing. Vegetable sauces/side dishes possibly partly from cans? Schnitzel and goulash were ok, but nothing more. Long waiting times.

Went here with several people and ate a la carte. Everyone got their food almost at the same time. The schnitzels are great but the other dishes on the menu are also delicious and looked great. The service is pleasant, quick but not intrusive and always open to requests for drinks or anything else. Please keep it up. I would love to come back and would be happy to recommend this restaurant.

Always unbeatable for price/performance

We stopped there early in the evening during the week. It was already pretty full upstairs, but the friendly waitress led us downstairs where there was still a free spot. The selection - especially of schnitzel dishes - is very large. We chose 2 different dishes plus a small salad. The order came really quickly and the food was overall okay. The schnitzels are huge, but also very thin. You feel like you're eating more breading than meat. The side dishes of fries and fried potatoes were good. Visually we found the plates a bit dreary. A small side salad would certainly enhance the whole thing. We also found our seating in the basement quite uncomfortable. Somehow the chair and table heights don't match. Chair too high, table too low. But there are also other seating areas in the basement.

Quite loud, which unfortunately means that the whole ambience doesn't have any effect at all. The waiters are nice, but seem quite stressed. Food is OK.

Had cordon bleu with fries. The cordon bleu and fries were delicious. The peas and individual mushrooms were cold and the light sauce had little spice.

We reserved online and wanted a comfortable table by the window. We were assigned a seat behind the door by a very unfriendly waitress. It was cold, only a draft in the back, and very narrow. If this had been mentioned to us when we confirmed it, we would have preferred to go to another restaurant. This restaurant visit was a birthday present, just a shame.

Mega large fresh portions. Service was super quick and the food came very quickly too. The kids were served first and people were very friendly towards the kids. You'll happily drive 2 hours just for this meal 🥰

One of Erfurt's best restaurants if you want to eat schnitzel. Clear recommendation. The only complaint would be that a small side salad was missing from the otherwise well-filled plates.

Great location on Erfurt Cathedral Square. The schnitzels here are huge and very tasty. There is a very large selection of different combinations. We'll definitely be back.

Food was good but diarrhea wasn't like that

Rarely have such delicious schnitzels been eaten as we did this evening...nice and friendly service, great location right next to the cathedral, the schnitzels had a beautiful breading like "Mom's", the meat was super tender and the portions were gigantic. Price-performance ratio is absolutely right. Our expectations were exceeded.

We would have loved to sit indoors! Unfortunately all tables had a reserved sign! The place was almost empty. The waiter told us without saying hello or hello that it was only possible to sit in the outside area. I replied to him: "but everything is free here", and all I got was a strange facial expression. I then said: "I can go again" the answer was: "yes, that would be better". Ok, said and done, we went back and had a delicious meal somewhere else. I would also like to say that I was traveling with my 2 children and just wanted to have a nice meal with them on World Children's Day. I was in a really good mood up until that point. After we ate at another restaurant, I walked past the Schnitzler again. It was about an hour later. Almost all the tables inside were still free. Why? The way we have been treated here is unacceptable. We've always eaten at Schnitzler, but from now on never again!!!

Luckily, it was announced when we ordered that it would take about an hour for the food to arrive. So we were prepared for the wait. The fact that the food was cold is unacceptable. Shame about the money.

The service was quick. We were there at 7:15 p.m. There were still many tables available on this Monday evening. The only stupid thing was that at 8:30 p.m. the tables were slowly being cleared away and they were being put back. So as a guest you got the feeling now please go home. The food came quickly and was very tasty.

A restaurant on the edge of Cathedral Square in Erfurt. There are many people here who can eat a schnitzel in a different way. The selection is large and makes it not easy to decide. When you then see what kind of plates the waitresses come with, you can only be amazed. You don't need starters anymore since you're still young and have a lot of room in your stomach. A restaurant that I can only recommend.

If you like schnitzel, this is the place for you. We decided on a variation (Milan and Venice). Both were very tasty. The atmosphere at the cathedral is very nice on Sunday evenings.

The restaurant should be called Schnitzel for Vietnamese, a pepper schnitzel is not something with pepper sauce, but neatly sprinkled with pepper, the salad dressing is Asian-style, I lived in Asia for 15 months, mushrooms, mayo and the sauce warm, for a schnitzel eater like me , a challenge. The staff is nice and is happy about a “Sinn-Schau” and a “kohm-onn”

A super nice restaurant. We sat outside and got quick service. We didn't wait very long for the food. Good vegetarian dishes and a good selection of drinks. Can be recommended

Anlässlich eines Geburtstages trafen wir uns mit Freunden im Restaurant. Wir hatten Plätze bestellt und wurden nett empfangen. Die Getränke kamen relativ schnell und die Bestellung wurde zeitgleich aufgenommen. Allerdings mussten wir 70 Minuten auf unser Essen warten. Mehrfach entschuldigte sich die Kellnerin, aber davon wurden wir auch nicht satt. Als das Essen kam, sahen die 3 Hauptgerichte gut aus und waren geschmacklich okay. Allerdings mein Trennkost Teller war schlichtweg unverschämt. Der Salat war ungewürzt, alles schwamm in Öl und die Pilze waren total verbrannt. Die Kellnerin entschuldigte sich zwar für die Küche, aber das wars. Der volle Preis musste dennoch bezahlt werden. Einen Schnaps auf Kosten des Hauses gab es für die lange Wartezeit. Wir finden es schade, dass die Qualität der Speisen nachgelassen hat und man ewig warten muss. Ein Grund nicht wieder zu kommen.
