The food really wasn't anything special; the schnitzel wasn't particularly appetizing, and the soup tasted like it came out of a packet... the prices were often unjustified, but the staff were really friendly and helpful. Otherwise, the atmosphere was very nice and quiet.

Well, if no one can find good food here, I don't know what else to say. Everything was delicious. And the drinks were first-class, and the service was fantastic.

Worst schnitzel ever, it was never fresh! The bottom of the breading came off in the bean water (the beans were cold). The fried potatoes only saw the pan from afar 🥴. We got three meals in less than 15 minutes!!!

We sat outside for 20 minutes. People were being served before us, but we weren't. When we asked, a young man simply dismissed us with, "No, we don't serve outside." He did so with a level of rudeness I've rarely experienced. We've been to this restaurant several times. After this incident, they won't be seeing us again anytime soon.

Service and food were very nice, and the food was plentiful and very good. I can only recommend it. If we come back to Erfurt, we'll stop by again. Thank you very much.

To start with, the meal - beer goulash with penne - was delicious and filling. The meat was really tender. The sauce was a delight. I arrived at the restaurant around 3 p.m. There were only three tables occupied. I sat right at the front by the window. The young waitress asked if I was alone, which I replied with "yes." She immediately explained to me that the table was reserved and that I should go to the back. I was perplexed and asked if I could stay where I was. She said yes!!! I felt discriminated against as a woman and said so. Then I could stay there. When I left at 3:45 p.m. there was only one table occupied, but all the tables had "Reserved" signs on them.

I've been here several times and I have to say again and again today that it's simply great. We didn't sit for long before a service arrived that was very nice and friendly, the food was great and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

We hadn't made a reservation but still spontaneously got a table for 1.5 hours. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The prices are reasonable. The service was also very friendly. Highly recommended

We were there with 6 people, all but one dish were very good, unfortunately one dish was a bit cold. The staff tried very hard and was very friendly. They tried to fulfill our every wish.

Had a gypsy schnitzel. Unfortunately, it was very dry and the amount of sauce (probably ready-made from a jar) was saved. If it weren't for the high price, it would be a quick takeaway meal. Too bad!

The food was very good. The prices are fair. The view of the cathedral is indescribable. The service was very accommodating. I don't know what one could complain about.

Have been here several times, unfortunately the quality is getting worse and worse. A schnitzel was ordered with sauce, there was a dollop of hollandaise on it, but that's already well described. So when I asked why it was so little, I was immediately given more, but I was then allowed to pay the proud price of 3.90 for one sauce. It's a shame that some things are no longer the same as they used to be. I won't be going there again in the near future.

We were here as a group and I didn't even know Schnitzler before. I was super positively surprised. The card is very versatile. There were many interesting variations, but not just schnitzel. The service was very nice and quick. We all found something, also quite different. The food came quickly and requests for drinks were also responded to well. The portions are generous and I found my schnitzel very tasty. I would definitely come back. We sat nicely inside, in summer there are also seats outside with a view of the cathedral square and Erfurt cathedral.

Pure disappointment! I've been coming to the Schnitzler more or less regularly for about 15-20 years now to eat Buffchen (GDR Jägerschnitzel). But today was definitely the last time. Reservations on site were possible without any problems, although they were received with relative lack of enthusiasm. The table was free and clean at the specified time. Ordering food was quick and easy. Unfortunately, a little later we were told in German that was very difficult to understand that wedges and fries were out with the schnitzel. It could be that fries are out, although very unusual for a restaurant that offers at least 50% of the dishes with fries. No matter, then fried potatoes will have to serve. My buffets were OK, but unfortunately not anymore. The arrangement was more than careless. (see photo) I know this differently from Schnitzer from times long past. But my wife's Wiener-style schnitzel was a disaster. Absolutely inedible, barely seasoned and not very hot. She gave me half a schnitzel, but I only got a small bite of it. The arrangement was just as careless as the buffet. Unfortunately, at the moment I can't understand how some people come to the conclusion that this is the best schnitzel in Erfurt. Please Schnitzler, get better again. Note: This is the first time that I've posted something about food or a visit to a restaurant here and also that I didn't leave a tip. Hopefully this never happens to me again. And of course, when asked, I gave the waitress my unvarnished criticism.

Food: Was very tasty, but quite dry. Schnitzel Au Four with very little seasoned meat, rather with (almost) only cheese. Service: When asked if you could get extra sauce, it took until the food was lukewarm and you had almost eaten it. The ambience is great. They have also thought about how to keep guests occupied when they are looking at the wall (e.g. through monitors).

Unfortunately that was nothing. Through the window to the kitchen I could already see the cheese spaetzle near the floor in a pan on a plastic bucket. Despite this not exactly trustworthy storage, I still ordered it. Unfortunately! What came on the plate was a dreary, creamy mess. No mountain cheese on it, not seasoned. Bland, listless, sad. The iceberg lettuce was equally uninspired. Anyone who has ever eaten real cheese spaetzle will be disappointed here. What you can expect here is mac n' cheese at Kraft Dinner level. Others had the huge schnitzels. These were probably tastier than the cheese spaetzle, but no one was impressed with them either. The schnitzel portions were so large that half of all the plates ended up in the trash. Not exactly contemporary either. On the positive side, the ambience is quite pleasant and the service was efficient, if not particularly friendly. Better go somewhere else!

The food arrived lukewarm, the tossed garden vegetables consisted of canned carrots and peas, the parsley potatoes were already pre-cooked and just "warmed up". The schnitzel was beaten to death and soaked in fat. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is not right here.

The location is great. I found the facility very cool. My meal was a disaster. A loveless salad with chicken. Poorly seasoned and dry. My child would cook better. The side dishes on the other plates were also just finished products. It was like cafeteria food. My husband's schnitzel was good though. Service very nice. I wouldn't come again. You only pay for the view of the cathedral and not for the quality of the food.

Food, price-performance, service top. The floor and the stairs to the cellar were very slippery due to kitchen grease. The toilets also needed to be checked and cleaned.

We went in here spontaneously and there was a table available for us. The conditions were all very friendly. The drinks came in less than 3 minutes and the schnitzels took less than 15 minutes. Price performance great but a schnitzel would have been enough for us. The portions are designed for good eaters or 2 people. If I ever end up in Erfurt again, I know where I'll go to eat.

A good restaurant for everyone who likes large portions and schnitzels. But vegetarian dishes are also delicious and beautifully prepared. Always happy.

For around €20 I would expect a schnitzel fried in a pan with a nice amount of clarified butter or something similar. Not fried like at a snack bar. The restaurant has deteriorated considerably compared to its former state. The appetizer came with the main course, the schnitzel tasted of stock cubes, the fries were undercooked, and there was no salt on the fries or the table. Never again

We were there on Friday evening with a large group after making a reservation. The size of the schnitzels is impressive, but the taste and quality leave a lot to be desired. When the signature dish is schnitzels, I expect fresh, shiny schnitzels from the pan. The schnitzels are thin, from the deep fryer and f...dry. A few croquettes, far too few fried potatoes, a sachet of ketchup for the fries, not enough sauces, no vegetable decoration, no side salad. bagged sauces, mushy gray peas, Celery schnitzel ready-made products, no spices. Nachos cold, not gratinated, no cheese. Children's schnitzel was dinosaur schnitzel from the deep fryer, onions were too light. In this price range I expect something different. We even had to fish for cutlery and napkins from the service station ourselves, not everyone had cutlery for the main course. You should also be aware of the "bitter charm" of the service. The children dropped a drink, but the food would still be served on the sticky, dirty table. The location probably ensures enough foot traffic and it doesn't matter, but we won't be coming anymore.

Delicious food and great, quick service. However, you should reserve a table in advance, especially on the weekend.

The service was totally friendly and unbeatable. The ambience was also very nice. Unfortunately, the cheese spaetzle were nothing at all - they were swimming in a cream sauce that has no place in this dish. The salad wasn't my thing either. Too bad!

Oh My God, This is a magnificent "Surprise" as it said on the menu at 39.00€ that serves 2, which in fact it can easily feed 4... The waitress took our drinks order, then our food order which Richie and I selected the "Surprise" plate that stated it served 2.. Well this platter arrived at our enlarged table as our original table for 2 was to small to have this platter, sauces drinks of wine and our dinner plates to serve... My God it was insanely delicious... I absolutely support this venue as one of my personal Top Restaurants..

We wanted to eat there with our baby. However, they were turned away at the door in a very rude manner. The restaurant was empty, but there would be no room for us. It's a shame because we had a good meal there last year - without children -.-

I had a pretty solid Wiener Schnitzel with really nothing to complain about. The service was friendly and attentive. The only not so nice thing was that we had to wait about an hour for our food to arrive. To be fair, the place was really packed when we came (Saturday night) and the waitresses were really busy.

Solid restaurant with friendly staff and pleasant decor. There is a diverse selection of food and drinks. These are served in fairly large portions. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the large quantity obscures the poor quality of the food. Still very tasty and recommended.

We stopped in spontaneously because the kids were hungry. Were warmly greeted and served. The kids immediately got something to color 😁 to my delight because then they don't get so restless. The picture of the children's plates on the back of the coloring picture is very nice 👍🏼 although the portion size could be a little smaller. If we're in Erfurt again, we'll be happy to come back ☺️

We go to Schnitzler very often and are generally satisfied. The portions are sufficient and freshly prepared. However, the quality varies. Finally, the veal schnitzel had more breading than meat and the fries weren't cooked through either. It always takes a little longer to get your food. That wouldn't bother me, but if you only have 1.5 hours in the evening, that's rather critical. You feel like you have to leave once you've eaten.

Went there spontaneously on Tuesday evening, it was pretty full, but I still managed to get a seat. The lady from the service was very quick and super friendly. The menu offers schnitzel of every kind and every side dish imaginable. I chose a schnitzel with champion sauce and fries. Unfortunately the schnitzel consisted of almost more breading than meat, and quite a lot of fries too. There was no ketchup or mayo included, but you could certainly have gotten them for an additional charge. Service and ambience - great! Food - okay.

We were there at the weekend and spontaneously got a table from the friendly and quick service. The food, however, is only for lovers of ready-made products. The salad at the front was fresh from the plastic bag, the sauerkraut was mushy, the mashed potatoes were pale and tasteless and the so-called "rust" bratwurst never saw any rust. All in all, quite a disappointment, there are definitely a lot of better restaurants in the surrounding area.

We were there shortly after 9 p.m. on a Friday evening and would have liked to have eaten something delicious. We were rudely told that the kitchen had already closed. The restaurant is open until midnight. An indictment of the kitchen when it comes to opening times. There are definitely better addresses in Erfurt. The restaurant gives the impression of being “a little above” due to its location. It’s actually a real shame for the otherwise really excellent hospitality in Erfurt..

Service is good, portions are plentiful. It's a shame for sauce fans that there is so little sauce in many dishes, you might have to order it additionally for an additional charge. Otherwise great!

We went to the restaurant spontaneously today. We received a very friendly welcome and were given a table straight away, even without a reservation. That was very positive. The selection of dishes was very appealing. The drinks were served quickly. Then the food came and our criticism was that the bacon beans were rather mushy, that was a shame, we imagined it differently. The fried potatoes could have been crispier. The pepper breading also didn't fit. Simply ground pepper on top is something else... The schnitzels were absolutely fine. Generally recommended. We will definitely come back

Generous portions at a reasonable price

If you like schnitzel, you'll get your money's worth here. However, you can too definitely recommend other dishes. Unfortunately, the vegetable side dishes in our three meals were cold or lukewarm. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars. The problem was easily solved with preheated plates. Otherwise everything was fine. Service top, taste top.

A restaurant that probably lives from walk-in customers. It's hard to imagine it as a "regular place". Recently had dinner there with the family and also 10 years ago. Nothing has changed... The various schnitzel dishes only differ in nuances, whereby the request for more sauce was answered with the saying: "then you have to buy another dish". Staff speaks and understands German poorly, guests were threatened with “expulsion from the house”. I found the only “disturbing” thing here is the GUEST.. Just read all the reviews, the overall impression is right!

Highly recommended restaurant right on Cathedral Square! Food very good, especially the schnitzel dishes. With other dishes you can make small compromises... Portions are very good to a lot for the price and the location. This means the price/performance ratio is VERY good!

Yesterday evening we spontaneously went to dinner at 8 p.m. without a reservation! We were lucky and there was still space in the basement (ambience is good). service was quick and polite. food was excellent and tasty. Requests for extra food, such as more sauce and no bird food, were immediately accommodated. was there for the first time and will be back! had hunter schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Just go later and you'll be able to get tables, at least during the week.

I was a guest at the location with my family for a birthday! We had reserved and were quickly assigned our place! The service was very quick and courteous despite the slight language barrier! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the food! We have been regular guests on and off for more than a decade! We remained loyal to the restaurant even during the Corona period! The food that was served to us today on December 19th, 2024 at around 8 p.m. was, to say the least, bottom drawer!!! What was ordered: 4×spiced meat and as a main course 2×steak with spiced meat. For reasons I couldn't explain, the starter was already a thickened roux with a few barely countable pieces of meat, but at least it was gratinated with edible cheese! The main course was the cherry on top! The "Würzfleisch" was a completely meatless roux baked with a processed cheese substitute, like the one I buy unrefrigerated at Aldi&Co! In my eyes, this wasn't even on the level of a snack bar!! I really hope that this was just a so-called slip-up on the part of the chef!! My guests and I were more than just disappointed!!!

Great, delicious food. But... Poor service, unfriendly waiters and an uncomfortable atmosphere.

We had already reserved a table for 6 people for 7:00 p.m. on Friday 12/6/24 in the summer. We arrived at the restaurant on time for our reservation, had to wait 30 minutes and then received the answer: “I don’t have a table available for the next 30 minutes”. When we politely asked what was going on with our reserved table, the answer we received was “the guests want to have a drink and don't want to leave yet and I don't care about their reservation”. We changed restaurants and had a delicious meal at the Hofbräuhaus. Absolutely not recommended!

Unfortunately we couldn't eat anything here because you have to make a reservation. Been here for years without a reservation. There was nothing about it online. Then never again!

We made a reservation but couldn't get a seat. Apparently it was received. Instead of apologizing, the boss got cheeky and said we can't get it anywhere else anyway. He just shrugged his shoulders. We were supposed to come an hour later. After waiting we got a seat. Luckily the service was very nice but the boss's behavior was cheeky and disrespectful. Food has also gone down a lot. We had a surprise record. Unfortunately there were only mostly side dishes left on it. And until we paid there was no apology from the boss in any form.

Yesterday we went to a Christmas party at Schnitzler with several people. We had already reserved several months in advance (received confirmation). We were there at 5 p.m. We were sent through the store to look for our table. First down into the basement (everything was occupied), then back up. Nobody there seemed to have a plan. Then we found a table and ordered. After 1.5 hours we got our food (around 6:30 p.m.). We wanted to order more drinks and were told: “No, I need the table straight away.” However, we hadn’t even finished eating and the next guests were already standing around our table. The owner stood behind his book and said, very annoyed, that he was the boss here and had informed us by email that we only had two hours. This was not true. We have the proof by email. After he couldn't explain himself any further, he said he said it on the phone. Now it was statement against statement. He continued to argue annoyed and in a cheeky tone and was unrivaled in his unfriendliness. We paid with the sentence “He has to generate sales” and yet we were very shocked at the way we were treated. The shop was packed, the waitress was annoyed, unfriendly and overwhelmed. The shop became more and more crowded. We will probably never eat there again and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing, nice evening in Erfurt.

Unfortunately far too crowded and loud. Every centimeter is full of seats. Sometimes refusing is more. But maybe it's only like that at Christmas time.

We were with a larger group at the Schnitzler in Erfurt. Despite reservations and renewed requests from the restaurant for the lecture, there were not enough seats. When we asked if we could get a table or at least a chair, the service person reacted very unfriendly and argued with us. The restaurant would be full and there would be no free chair. After 5 minutes it worked! We then had to wait 90 minutes for our food. The schnitzels were good, but the rest wasn't so good. I didn't expect red cabbage from a jar and hollandaise from a tetra pack there. Some of our food was cold. The service staff responded to our complaint again in a very unfriendly manner. The location of the restaurant is mega, the service is absolutely subpar.

So you can save yourself a visit to this restaurant. Preferably 0 stars.

The environment was uncomfortable and cold, the staff appeared unfriendly, abrupt and annoyed, without a single smile. Behind the bar they were chatting animatedly on their cell phones and laughing. You should think about the external impact. The question arises - is the right staff employed? We also had to wait 1.5 hours for our food, which was then served cold. Although the service staff is not responsible for the cold food, their treatment of guests was unacceptable. For this reason we didn't leave a tip. The customer is always the focus. This way you won't leave satisfied guests. Too bad! We will not come back and will not recommend the restaurant.

It's always very busy, but also super loud. Waiting 100 minutes for the food is also too long.

The service is top (nice waitresses), the schnitzel is tasty, but some of the food is very dry and there is a small side dish missing (some decorative salad). There is, for example. 6 croquettes and a huge schnitzel and a piece of lemon. For the price you just expect more. If you sit in the basement there is a lack of ambience. The chairs are too high for the table and are cold and hard, you sit very hunched over and I'm already small. There is also simply a lack of cleanliness, the stairs are full of dirt, the toilets could also use more care, and in general the floor is sticky. For beer we are now at €5.50. That's completely excessive for a place like this. But that is generally a problem in Thuringia.

It seems difficult to get a seat in the evening as everything is reserved. I found the food horrible. The schnitzel tasted like fat and the toast was completely dried out. Spice was also missing.

We were very satisfied. Service, friendly, attentive, very nice. The food (pepper schnitzel) tasted wonderful. We had the wild mushroom soup as a starter, but unfortunately it scored zero points for us. Too bad, I ran past the mushroom. But what the heck, I would come back every time!

At the end of our company outing we were here at the Restaurant Schnitzler Erfurt. It was a really successful conclusion. Since the restaurant was extremely busy that day, we were told to pre-order the dishes. That was a great idea, we didn't have to wait, the service was quick and very friendly. The food was excellent and more than sufficient. Many thanks to the entire team, we would be happy to come back.
