Very friendly service, quick turnaround, and a wide selection on the menu. Also suitable for large groups! The garden is open in summer! Reservations recommended. Easily accessible by public transport.

We come once a year. The food is good and prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly, too. Parking is a bit of a gamble, but it works... We always reserve tables, which makes sense for larger groups.

I've rarely experienced such a well-organized restaurant. All guests' requests are always fulfilled without being asked twice. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the ambiance could be improved. But overall, it's nice to sit there and be served. I'd be happy to return.

After a long time, we returned for dinner and were not disappointed. We received a very friendly welcome and received prompt and friendly service. Our meal was delicious and plentiful. A wonderful evening at the Schlegelkrug Restaurant: super friendly and attentive staff, and best wishes to the magician in the kitchen. The food was still incredibly delicious, and one person's special request (please no/fewer onions) was accommodated. It's always an experience to dine with you ❤️

We went to the Schlegelkrug beer garden with a group today. The service was extremely friendly and quick! The home-style food was tasty and fresh! I had a very well-grilled chicken breast with well-cleaned chanterelle mushrooms and fried potatoes with bacon. Highly recommended! A very generous portion. The beer garden's furnishings are new and very well-maintained. We didn't go inside, but there's a bowling alley!

It's a shame that you can't give 10 stars. The food was amazing, super tasty and perfect. Personally, I would only recommend two restaurants where it's perfect: the Schlegel Krug and the Goldene Gans. Perfect and thank you ❤️

We went there for a birthday dinner and were extremely disappointed...the chanterelle mushroom menu, and then they served them from a jar. Absolutely unacceptable! The mushrooms we ordered came cut into small pieces...the liver and minced meat with feta were so dry, they were inedible... Never again for us.

We visit many restaurants in several cities. Yesterday we were craving schnitzel. The question was: where to go? The answer after searching: Schlegel-Krug. We are thrilled: friendly staff, delicious food (a lot of it). The only thing they need to rethink is the way it's presented. Hence only 4 out of 5. Unfortunately, no photo. But this wasn't the last time we were here.

I went to Gelsenkirchen to visit the Veltins Arena and for lunch, recommended by Google reviews, I decided to stop here also because I had read about the presence of Balkan cuisine, which I appreciate. Sunday lunch, 12:30, not many people and mostly elderly couples. The very kind staff welcomed me and made me sit down. Unfortunately I don't speak German (I speak Dutch so I was able to say something roughly), the waitress didn't speak English and the owner only a little, so it was difficult to ask for advice or questions. However, I don't feel like criticizing the thing, as I didn't (purposely) choose a tourist restaurant and I didn't expect it but it would have been a plus, having however not affected my stay in any way. I ordered a small dark beer (3.40€) and a mixed plate called "Pola Pola" of ćevapčići and pork skewer with side dishes including rice raw onions, a tomato and pepper sauce and fried potatoes (17€). Before my dish arrived I was served a small potato soup (very good) and a small salad with a kind of pink sauce (good), both included in the order (for Germans it will not be a surprise, but for an Italian like me or any tourist it is unusual and appreciated!). My main course was tasty and in the right proportions. Meat well cooked and tasty, nice side dishes. After that I was served a cherry yogurt on a small plate also included in the meal (honestly it seemed like supermarket yogurt to me, good but nothing that I would call a restaurant yogurt). Total cost €20.40, as expected and in line with what I ordered in terms of quality and price. The staff, beyond the language barrier, has always been smiling and kind (I am basically kind, receiving the same treatment by reflex is not a given). If I pass through Gelsenkirchen again, I will definitely go back to try other dishes, I base my review on what I ordered but peeking at the other tables I saw nice dishes similar to mine. Compliments to the staff!

A bit noisy in the front, coupled with kitchen smells. Friendly owners and staff. Plenty of space, but the sanitary facilities aren't adequate for the number of potential guests. Parking is sometimes difficult. Otherwise, everything is top-notch.

The pork tenderloin with champions was well done. They have a larger selection of beers on tap and the staff is friendly and attentive. My six companions also had nothing to complain about. Restaurant Schlegel Krug is recommended.

The service was very attentive, friendly and quick. You can't complain about the quality of the food, although side dishes such as fries are used sparingly. The beer garden belonging to the restaurant is a great address, especially in warm, sunny weather.

Saturday evening, 7 p.m., really full, all tables occupied. Loud backdrop. The service and the food were still good. Something like this has to be organized first. Simply the wrong time for a quiet meal.

Based on the reviews, four of us ate there. The portions were very large. The funny Bosniak was fried to perfection and very well filled. The robber plate and the grill plate had a lot of delicious meat. The chicken schnitzel with plenty of chanterelles. The quality is very good. The salads were very fresh, the dressing was excellent. The service was very quick and really attentive. The owner himself asked if everything was OK. A long journey is also worthwhile here. We were completely satisfied. The price enjoyment services are very, very good. The restaurant was already very full at 6 p.m., which speaks for the good food. Our expectations were far exceeded. We went to eat and sat on the terrace, after a while the waiter came and brought us drinks and then he disappeared, I went inside the restaurant alone to find him and I saw him at the bar playing games on his mobile phone. I asked him why he doesn't bring the menus and he told me to wait to get them myself and he will come in a while while he had nothing to do I paid 140 euros for a bad waiter who didn't treat customers properly until the appetizer came an hour passed

Good German restaurant with Greek / Croatian influences. The lady at the counter was super friendly and accommodating. We sat outside in the summer garden with a view of the church. Drinks came quickly. Starter immediately afterwards with a greeting from the kitchen. main meal. For me it could have been a little more grilled plate with shepherd's cheese. But it was very tasty. The grill plate was tasteless, there was no salt and pepper, the meat was like rubber, the side salad didn't work at all, it just floated carelessly in the dressing. The whole meal had a bit of a bitter aftertaste, just a shame.

wir waren mit ca. 50 Personen dort an 2 Tagen anlässlich eines Karten-Turniers. Der Service war absolut vorbildlich, selbst am 2. Tag, an dem noch eine größere Gruppe zusätzlich zugegen war, hat (fast) alles funktioniert. Essen ist ok (etwas über Durchschnitt), aber die Organisation war wirklich super.

A nice restaurant...you wouldn't suspect it if you don't know your way around GE, because it's a little hidden.The food is super delicious and the staff is super nice...We were the first, but certainly not the one last time eating there!! Nice, quiet restaurant with solid cuisine, good beer and very generous portions. The food is simple but well prepared and the meat is fried to perfection. When the weather is nice you sit outside in the shade of the church, which was a bit unusual but quite pleasant. The employees were all extremely friendly, warm and quick. Es war ein grauenvoller Tag....hatten uns mit der Familie zum 'Weihnachtsessen' dort verabredet. Kamen um 14 Uhr, obwohl einen Tisch für 5 Personen reserviert, nicht ins Lokal, da Unmengen von Gästen bis ca. 14.15 Uhr das Lokal verlassen haben und wir mit ca. 30 Personen, im Regen, vor der Tür standen. Nachdem wir nach ca. 20 min Wartezeit an unserem Tisch saßen, bekamen wir sehr schleppend einige Getränke.... Auf unser Essen haben wir 2 Std. gewartet ( ohne Erfolg ) und sind dann, hungrig, gegen 16.15 Uhr. ohne gegessen zu haben, gegangen. Wir waren kein Einzelfall, an den Nebentischen, teilten ca. 15-20 Personen unser 'Schicksal'. 'Danke'..... für unser nicht erhaltendes 'Weihnachtsessen'. Alle, die dort waren und bedienten waren völlig überfordert und zu allem , hat sich das Personal vor den Gästen und in der Küche, gestritten .

Bin hier regelmäßig und immer sehr zufrieden mit dem Essen und dem Service. Alle Mitarbeiter sind immer für ein Späßchen zu haben und generell ist es gerade mit den Mitarbeitern ein sehr nettes miteinander. Komme gerne immer wieder Mal vorbei 😁.

Waren gestern mit mehreren Personen dort und hatten wirklich einen schönen Abend gehabt. Das Lokal hat ein schönes Ambiente und die Bedienungen waren alle super nett und freundlich und vor allem sehr schnell, wir alle hatten immer super schnell unsere Getränke. Das Essen war absolut TOP !, sehr sehr lecker mit super Portionen, hier gab es rein gar nichts zu meckern und wir alle waren sehr begeistert. Werden dort mit Sicherheit noch öfters hingehen 😊

Meinung revidiert. Vor lauter Begeisterung waren wir am anderen Tag Montags da! Ui ui ui ui ui! Service 1A! Hatten Putenleber bestellt! Vorspeise gereicht bekommen Kräuterbutter eiskalt gefroren! Dann angewärmter Toast vom Vortage sehr heiß Brett knallhart! Mit unseren Zähnen im besten Zustand konnten wir den knallharten Toast mit der Eis gefrorenen Butter trotzdem verzehren, ein fragwürdiges nicht zu empfehlendes Erlebnis! Die Putenleber wurde warm bis kühl serviert! Bei der serviertart ergibt es sich von selbst dass man sich zumindest nicht den Mund verbrennen kann! In diesem Zustand hat die Putenleber gewöhnlich bis durchschnittlich geschmeckt! Der Service war perfekt, sehr schnell hatten wir kühle Getränke, der Apfelschorle vier große Gläser 0.5 l getrunken! Aus dem Grunde weil die Kaffeemaschine noch nicht an war, man uns sagte sie muss mindestens sechs Minuten aufheizen! Die ersten beiden Tassen Cappuccino mit aufgescheumter Milch wurden perfekt serviert bedauerlicherweise Eis gekühlt und das ist keine Kritik sondern das hat sehr kühl und sehr lecker geschmeckt mal was anderes. Die nächsten beiden Tassen Cappuccino waren dann in Perfektion serviert und normal heißt temperiert. Ebenfalls sehr lecker und köstlich nur dieses mal eben halt schön warm. Zwischenzeitig klagte eine Mitarbeiterin aus der Küche ihr Leid und Unwohlsein und den Stress den sie in der Küche erlebe, freundlichst wurde sie von einem Gast über die Soße seines Essens, die dieses Mal anders war als sonst ein bisschen dicker und köstlicher gelobt, sie sei eine ruhige und nette Mitarbeiterin, zum Unverständnis war sie aber anderer Meinung und wurde sehr unangenehm laut, wobei sie selber das Gegenteil behauptete in diesem Fall konnten wir dem nur beipflichten. Zwischenzeitlich ließen wir uns unseren süßen köstlichen Traum servieren, heiße Kirschen mit Vanilleeis wie immer hervorragend. Nicht nur delikatös sondern einfach deliziös. Bedauerlicherweise gab es am Tresen eine lautstarke Auseinandersetzung zwischen zwei Gästen, die offensichtlich zu viel geistige Getränke zu sich genommen hatten. Oder wie man sagt zu tief ins Glas geschaut haben. Nachdem sich die Wogen geglättet hatten wurde es wieder beschaulich angenehm ruhig im Lokal. Doch leider war es zu dieser Jahreszeit unangenehm kühl im Restaurant da keine Heizung an war, musste ich über meinen Pullover meine Strickjacke anziehen und meinen Schal mehrfach um meinem kühlen Hals wickeln damit mir wieder mollig warm wurde. Die Gastlichkeit, die Herzlichkeit, des Chefs wahr wie immer, sehr angenehm, freundlichst charmant und sehr nett. Auch die anderen Gäste waren charmant und unterhaltsam. Selbst als ich das WC aufsuchte kam es zu angenehmen unterhaltsamen und lustigen Gesprächen. Man muss das Ganze nicht so eng und Ernst sehen und sich keinen Kopf machen wir sehen dass dieses Mal als abenteuerlichen Aufenthalt so ähnlich wie im Phantasialand oder auf dem Rummelplatz. Essen sehr gut. Preis Leistung in Ordnung. Nur die Suppe war etwas wenig. 4,90 für eine leckere Gulaschsuppe ein guter Preis. Aber von der Menge war es nur eine etwas größere Kaffeetasse. Das Behältnis könnte gerne etwas größer sein. Aber alles andere top👍

Etwas versteckt in einer Seitenstraße liegt dieses Restaurant. Durch Google gefunden und absolut nicht enttäuscht worden. Gemütliche Atmosphäre, grosse Auswahl an Speisen, gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und freundliches Personal.
