Beautiful, rustic ambiance, somewhat cozy. Good food quality, sufficient quantity, and reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Parking isn't so easy; only with a parking disc on public streets.

We wanted traditional German food, and based on the reviews, it sounded very good. We made a reservation just to be on the safe side, and it was quite full right at opening time at 5 p.m. Positive: The ambiance is really nice and harmonious. From the decor to the menu, everything was thematically well-coordinated. Neutral: The food was okay so far. We had schnitzel with French fries or fried potatoes. The fries were good, the fried potatoes were unfortunately convenience food (pre-made from a bag), and the schnitzel was okay-good. The service ranged from tasteless to friendly. Negative: We were the first guests, had previously spent a long time at the Rugard Adventure Park, and consequently needed to use the restroom. I didn't go to the men's section. But the men's restroom, considering it had just opened and we were the first guests, was, I have to say, not sufficiently clean... (There was more hair on the urinals than, well, let's just say...)

An old, quaint inn with a cozy atmosphere. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The menu was varied, with great "Puk" explanations of how the dishes are made.

Very delicious food in a rustic atmosphere, which encourages you to search for the puck and discover all sorts of things. For the ambiance, it would be nice if the dishes were served on wooden boards or something similar, like in the old days. Otherwise, the staff is very attentive and they've also catered to children.

Simply awesome... worth a visit.

We were there for dinner with 21 people. We were seated on the first floor. We laughed and sang loudly; everything was accepted. We had a wonderful evening there. Everyone enjoyed the food, from the menu, very much, the drinks were excellent, and the staff were always friendly, polite, and competent. We enjoyed our stay there. The place is incredibly cozy and always worth a visit. Thank you for letting us be there.

The schnitzel and fried potatoes weren't tasty. The food felt like a snack to us. No apology from the waiter. Based on the restaurant's advertising, we expected more.

The delicious and varied fish soup was truly worthy of a Michelin star! But the main course and dessert were also delicious! The price-quality ratio is truly excellent, and you can also enjoy a drink with some surprising cocktails. So, the five stars are truly well-deserved!

Rustic hospitality with attentive service and delicious food

We stopped in here spontaneously and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. It's a really comfortable place to sit and eat. We didn't have a reservation and sat in the "winter garden" in the small passageway. It's not quite as cozy here. The food was good, but I get the feeling they don't use a lot of fresh ingredients. It was still tasty, though.

I'm pretty autistic when it comes to restaurants. But right away, it was very easy for me to find something to eat and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The waiters could have smiled a bit more, but otherwise I was very satisfied (who knows what they had already gone through that evening). Clearly recommended and great food, absolutely spot on!

We were there for dinner. We were seated. A lovely, rustic atmosphere, the food and drinks arrived promptly, and we enjoyed it very much. The waitresses seemed very forced and friendly. After the table was cleared, however, we felt very alone. There was no question about whether we wanted anything else to eat; we would have preferred dessert. All of our table neighbors felt the same. We all looked at each other, wondering what to do next. The waitresses also avoided our gaze. It was like, "Let's go now." So, one by one, we went to the counter to pay. We've never been to a restaurant like this before, and we won't be coming back, which I'm sure the waitresses won't mind. It's a real shame.

We came to Puk up'n Balken because of the good reviews. As we stood at the entrance to the restaurant, two waitresses walked past us, but even a "Good evening" didn't respond! (It could be the stress, the restaurant is quite busy). But after the second or third time, we thought we'd just find a table ourselves, so we went inside to look for a free spot. Oh dear, what a big mistake! We were yelled at and told to wait until we were seated. I got a rude response, and the ice was broken. We got a table, but the wait for the waitress was a bit longer (a defiant reaction, in my opinion). But all in all: the food was delicious and plentiful.

If you want a different kind of beer, not necessarily the standard beers, you're in good hands there too. Delicious. But what came out of the kitchen ruined everything. The schnitzel was beaten until the breading was thicker than the schnitzel itself. Absolutely unacceptable. Then the potatoes, whether fried or boiled. They're industrially produced and made in a large kitchen. That's just unacceptable. I'm sorry I have to give such a review. Bottom line: If you don't want food but want ambiance, friendly staff, and a delicious beer, this is a great place to go.

We have to eat there once a year on vacation. ❤️ We vacationed in Marlow this year, but it just wouldn't leave us alone; we absolutely wanted to eat there. ☺️ So we called, reserved a table, and the staff was friendly, immediately, and without any problems. When we got there, we were warmly welcomed and served promptly. The spiced beef alone is worth the annual trip to the island. I completely overdid it with the baked potato afterward, but the nice man packed it for me, and I was able to eat it the next day. And it still tasted excellent! ☺️ You can pay by card or cash, and the staff always keeps an eye on you to make sure you don't miss anything. And the atmosphere... Well, it's unique. You can look around, and look around, and look around... And you haven't seen everything yet! I love this place; somehow it just completes the whole package. Eating there is simply an experience. An absolute disappointment – never again! There were six of us, among others, and we ordered the grilled platter three times – and we were immensely disappointed. Two of the portions were barely filling, the third was a disgrace: less than a senior citizen's portion! For almost €30 per dish, that's simply outrageous and borders on rip-off. To put it in perspective: If we had ordered two children's dishes like spaghetti instead, I would have been served much better – in terms of quantity – for less than €10. On top of that, there was an extremely long wait, even though the place wasn't overcrowded. Conclusion: Disastrous value for money, abysmal service. We definitely won't be coming back!

We, the Schreiner family, were there with nine people – grandparents, parents with partners, a grandchild, and a dear friend – and spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening there. As soon as you enter, you're immersed in another world: a quaint half-timbered house, lovingly restored, with crooked beams, dim lighting, collectibles, and charming details. Every nook and cranny tells a story – a place with a lot of soul. The menu is a true highlight. Each dish is accompanied by a short, often humorous story – imaginatively, charmingly, and lovingly told. The children listened intently to the story behind the dinosaur plate, while the adults chuckled at the anecdotes about the fish soup, solyanka, or spaghetti à la Puk. It was as if the food became part of the evening – and not just the meal. Culinary-wise, we were spoiled in every way: The bread basket with fresh bread, lard, and herb butter was an ideal start. The solyanka was hearty, savory, and very well-seasoned. The fish soup with Baltic fish, smoked salmon, and vegetables was a real treat. The main courses ranged from a fish platter – fresh, varied, and finely seasoned – to a grilled platter with succulent meat and fried potatoes, to spaghetti à la Puk, vegetarian and very flavorful. The chicken schnitzel was golden brown, tender, and crispy – a classic, perfectly prepared. And the dinosaur platter not only delighted our grandchild, but also made her eyes light up. All the dishes were fresh, generously portioned, attractively presented, and served promptly – despite our group size. The service was consistently warm, attentive, and very child-friendly. There was laughter, explanations, and questions – without ever being intrusive. The staff were enthusiastic about their work, which made the whole atmosphere even more pleasant. We felt welcome and very well looked after. The decor, the concept, the staff, and the cuisine all combine to create a restaurant you won't soon forget. The value for money is more than fair – because you get more than just food here, but a lovingly designed overall experience that appeals to all generations. They don't respond at all to a table reservation via the contact form on the website! It's best to deactivate the contact form function if they don't respond anyway. If you call, say so, and immediately ask for a table, they tell you to just call back later. If you called later, there were no available seats, they could have just said it right away. It's a shame. If the service is so good for new customers, what is it like on-site?!

Very nice ambiance. It lives up to its name. Prices are fair. Service is very nice and friendly. We enjoyed the food. The menu structure is also great—there are even more stories to tell—it's really something different. The food was delicious. Our only recommendation would be to remove any wilted leaves from the salad. Maybe check the fillet again to make sure all the bones are out. It can always happen. Overall, though, highly recommended.

A very traditional restaurant in the heart of Bergen. You can find many typical German dishes here within a roustic but calmed atmosphere. Although not the best schnitzel I’ve had, the soup was pretty good. The fries could definitely be better. Many dishes have plenty of salt, which is a shame for me since I don’t like that much salt. Service is okay, but in my opinion could be a tiny bit friendlier. You get your drinks and food quite fast though. Overall a nice place to visit and have some traditional food, but I think there are much better places out there.

We ate here for the first time today. Dogs are welcome. The decor is very nice, and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviews. The fried potatoes were brown, but unfortunately still raw in the middle. My wife and I really enjoyed the meal itself. The spiced meat was delicious, and the hunter's schnitzel was very tender. The mushrooms were fresh. The salad was fresh and crispy. The service was very friendly and quick. The atmosphere was really pleasant, and it was easy to have a relaxed conversation. Unfortunately, as I said, the fried potatoes weren't cooked through, and it would have been better to preheat the plates so the food stays warm longer. Therefore, one star deducted. But we'd be happy to come back.

We were on vacation on the island of Rügen two weeks ago and found this great restaurant and were seated for dinner without a reservation. Simply a beautiful, rustic restaurant with delicious food. The ambiance and food were both very, very tasty. Kudos also to the owners of this establishment. I would love to give it 7 stars, but unfortunately, that's not possible, but they deserve it. We were usually satisfied with the food. Unfortunately, we were somewhat disappointed the week after Pentecost. Some of my fried potatoes were as black as brown coal. After the waitress asked if everything was OK and I showed her the potatoes, there wasn't even an apology or any other offer of compensation. That was a bit irritating! When we went home, the two cooks were standing right outside the front door smoking a cigarette. That left a particularly good impression on us.

Food takes an age to arrive but it is fantastic

Unfortunately, the food fell short of expectations. The fried potatoes didn't give the impression of being evenly cooked. Afterward, they were browned to black on one side and not fried on the other. The schnitzel gave the impression of a frozen product with a lot of breading and little substance for the price, and it was very greasy on the plate when served. Only the side salad was a pleasant surprise, with the addition of kidney beans and cress. I would rate the selection of drinks and the ambiance as good to very good. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the service. The greeting here gave the impression that you weren't welcome, and that the staff were "hiding" behind the counter instead of presenting the daily specials or introducing the customer to the idea of ​​dessert.

The food is perfect, lovingly prepared, but most importantly, it's truly delicious. I booked a table because a friend was celebrating her wedding anniversary, and to our delight, the table was lovingly decorated. I can recommend Puk to anyone. Everything is just right here. Had the steak. Wasn't edible. Fried potatoes were raw on one side and black on the other. Unfortunately I made the mistake of eating some of the potatoes so my dish wasn't taken back. But we had to wait over an hour for the food. It wasn't too crowded to tolerate this wait. I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. Thank you never again.

The herring was generally good, too, but wasn't served with the typical sauce that characterizes the traditional style. This may also be due to regional differences in preparation. The fried potatoes were plentiful, but very fatty and not crispy. Unfortunately, the three steaks were not of good quality and varied in weight between 160 and 250 grams. Unfortunately, the steaks were not cooked to medium, or rather, they were cooked from rare to all over the place. The steaks were very sinewy and had a fat edge of 0.5-1 cm. At almost €30, the dish is above the average price at other restaurants/steakhouses. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to a fine meal. Unfortunately, there was no feedback from the kitchen as to why the meat was of such inferior quality.

Very rustic restaurant with special facilities. Heavy wooden panels on barrels make the great tables. Many things from the past make up the special charm of this location. The food was beautifully prepared and very tasty. Went here with our 3 children and everyone enjoyed it. The service is warm . Highly recommended
