Restaurant Plaka in Duisburg

I was very disappointed with my visit to this Greek restaurant. I eat Greek food regularly, about twice a month, but this time the food was of very poor quality. The meat had an unpleasant smell, and I couldn't even eat half of it. Even the usually delicious Greek red rice was disappointing. When I paid, I was also charged an extra €5 without any prior notification. When I inquired about it, the owner was unfriendly and explained that Mastercard was responsible. However, after contacting Mastercard, I was assured that no additional fees apply. I eventually received my €5 back, but the entire handling of the situation was unprofessional. Overall, a very disappointing experience with both the food and the service.

A very nice restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We were greeted with a warm smile. The food was delicious and of very high quality. The dishes were also very attractively presented. The price-performance ratio is perfectly reasonable.

Unfortunately, 3 out of 4 meals were not good. One steak was incredibly tough, and the gyros didn't taste good. Initially, the service was very friendly and quick. After the meal, we sat in front of our plates for over an hour and didn't receive anything to drink. No one came to our table. We didn't have to pay for the steak. Nevertheless, we won't be going back.

Simply fantastic! I'm never completely satisfied anywhere, but I am here! Restaurant Plaka in Duisburg is a winner all around. A beautiful, modern, and clean atmosphere, plus a wonderful terrace where you can relax. The food is fresh, incredibly delicious, and the value for money is excellent. There's also a really good selection for vegetarians. The service is friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome. My conclusion: Everything is just right here – we'll definitely be back! 🍽️🌿🇬🇷

Our favorite restaurant in Duisburg! I'm never completely satisfied anywhere, but I am here! Restaurant Plaka is clean, modern, and simply inviting. The lovely terrace is especially inviting. The food is always fresh, incredibly delicious, and the value for money is excellent. Vegetarians will also find plenty to enjoy. The service is friendly, fast, and attentive—just what you want! We regularly send our guests and tradespeople here because we know they're in good hands at Plaka. A definite recommendation from us!

As a gift, Uzo has a firecracker

We can't rate the ambiance and service because we ordered delivery for five adults. The food arrived 10 minutes earlier than originally announced, but that wasn't a problem since we arrived at the same time. The food was delicious and plentiful. Whether it was the gyro with Metaxa and cheese or the breaded zucchini—everything was top-notch 👍

We had a good meal. A platter for two with a delicious salad.

Well here we are , we decided to visit Düsseldorf on our day off , I looked up Greek restaurants and this looked the nicest in the area … and it and the patrons who left reviews were completely correct, this place is clean well decorated I don’t like restaurants that are massively overboard when it comes to to decor , clean ,bright, and welcoming, we arrived as usual without a reservation but it was 17.00 but we weren’t the only ones who wanted a early T , we were greeted by a older gentleman who was on our wavelength he’s was polite cheeky and accommodating we bantered about our poor German so he spoke in Greek lol , we were seated offered ouzo which we had to decline as we were not drinking today as we have a busy day tomorrow, we were presented with a salad which was really nice and fresh , we then chose our meals & drinks which we could not wait to eat and we had no complaints the food was really good and you could tell was freshly cooked , but as it was such a amazing place and company I didn’t take photos sorry ….so here’s a pic of my car

Unfortunately, I have to give the service a minimum rating... 1 waiter was very unpleasant, he literally threw plates on the table 😂. The older waiter is excellent, and because of this younger one, I give a rating of 1.

Always happy to come back! Consistently good service, even though the prices have obviously increased a bit over the years. We enjoy coming in or ordering. We always receive a friendly welcome :) A small note: The potato chips are perfectly fine, they're just not fries, even though they taste similar. Personally, I prefer fries, but that's up to each individual to decide.

Once top-notch, now just average. Things have changed for the worse here, too. On top of that, prices have risen considerably. For the beer drinkers among us: They've switched to "VELTINS." That's completely unacceptable in a city that's home to "KÖNIG PILSENER." 🫣 The price of beer is also incomprehensible. 0.4l - €4.40 or 0.5l - €5.50, mineral water 0.4l - €4.20. 🙈 Am I living in a spa town? That's more expensive than Bavaria, where we were just on vacation. That actually ruined our visit. On the positive side, there's now a seniors' menu with a few dishes to choose from. That's top-notch 👍. However, after all these years, we won't be coming here regularly anymore. Unfortunately, we'll have to find somewhere new as the final destination of a summer bike tour. It's a shame, the beer garden is actually a great place to linger.

We had lunch at Plaka yesterday. As soon as we sat down, we noticed that the tables were very dirty. The same uncleanliness was reflected in the waiter, whose T-shirt bore food residue from the last three days. The food we ordered was, in short, a disaster! The salad was drenched in dressing, the gyro undercooked. When we paid, the debit card was thrown onto our table simply because we didn't want to pay in cash. Unfriendliness is hard to beat. And then it happened: nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. That was our first and last visit.

The food was excellent and truly plentiful. The restaurant is very clean (including the restrooms). The service is courteous, helpful, and friendly. I didn't have the slightest complaint. The price/performance ratio is very good.

We ordered food. It was delicious and the delivery person was friendly. However, for the price, we would have preferred at least tzatziki and better-quality fried potatoes. Hence "only" 4 stars.

Dear Sir or Madam, for many years we have either been your guests or had something delivered. Today we were very surprised by the food delivered. Is there a change in personnel at your place? We ordered gratinated gyros and gratinated suzukakia, as we have for years. Today they used two different versions of Metaxa sauce. One was made with tomato paste and cream, and the other was classic. Similar to the cheese used for the gratin. For the gyros, it was Gouda. For the suzukakia, it was the cheapest sliced ​​cheese. 80 euros isn't cheap these days. I would have expected more from a snack bar or bistro. I would have liked to write in person first, but the email address in the imprint is unavailable, and I couldn't get through by phone either.

A piece of Greece in Duisburg! This was our first visit to the Plaka restaurant in Buchholz – and certainly not our last! The food was outstanding: authentic Greek, freshly prepared, and delicious. Been there several times, food was always okay. Last time we had a complaint, to which the boss reacted very unprofessionally and unfriendly. So disrespectful that we definitely won't be eating there again.

Unfortunately our evening in the restaurant was disappointing. We were in the covered outdoor area with my family. At first everything was fine: friendly welcome and quick service. Since it was very hot outside and the heat was hitting our area, my brother asked if the fan could be turned on. He was told the basement would take care of it. However, after 15 minutes nothing had happened, so my brother turned the fan on himself. When the food came, my mother noticed that her beef steak was well done even though we ordered it medium rare. The only answer was that it wasn't possible and that it was prepared that way. We found that very unprofessional and inflexible. My sister and four other guests had a grill platter with salads and pork, which tasted OK. The gyro, however, was disappointing - we all agreed that the meat was no longer good. When we politely mentioned this to the waiter, the response was rude, which further spoiled the impression. I myself ordered five small scampis with cheese gratinated in tomato sauce and broccoli for €23.40. The food was okay, but the price-performance ratio didn't seem justified to me. My sister used to enjoy eating here, but the poor customer service and lack of response to our concerns means we probably won't be back in the future.

Always an enrichment for DU-Buchholz

I would never order something so outrageous there again. The food didn't taste good, the boss got cheeky and said to me you don't have any salt at home. Well, the gentleman still has a lot to learn. Not worth any stars.

Since my last review was suddenly taken down online after more than two years, here is a new one. Unfortunately, what I'm writing applies to our visit, so I can't sugarcoat anything, that's just how it was: - very unfriendly staff... - €7.50 extra if you want a small farmer's salad instead of the normal side salad. Mind you, per person!... - "Suzukakia gratinated" here means topped with sliced ​​cheese and Metaxa sauce on top... - Starter prepared unappetizingly, should be brown minced meat sauce on vine leaves... - the ice cream is from the discount store... and last but not least, after the question about “packing leftovers,” we were asked to put disposable packaging on the table Thank you, never again!!!

I ate in this restaurant on April 20th, 2025 and it was nothing. My starter was garlic bread with tomatoes, totally drenched in oil, not even used olive oil. And the baby octopus were cooked very softly, as an Italian I can confirm that there was nothing and everything was overpriced. And what's more, the food makes me sick, I'm constantly going to the toilet and lying in bed all day.

Price-performance ratio is completely ok. The food is freshly prepared and served in a friendly manner. Maybe the music is a little too much, but somehow it's authentic.

Everything was just average - I can't judge anything bad but I can't highlight anything positive either!!!! As a starter I ordered fried pepperoni in garlic sauce and then received a very large portion with probably 30-40 pieces in garlic liquid (??) I didn't know until then - there are no fries or fried potatoes - only potato chips. Unfortunately, Octopus was served carelessly on the plate and wasn't tasty either... I find the prices high - quality mediocre - not again…………

Very good service from the junior, an ouzo on the house in advance. Salads very crisp and fresh. Gyros and Suvlaki freshly prepared and not too dry. Well seasoned. Potato chips a bit too much but also very tasty and not too fatty. I'd love to come back

Weiß ich nicht wie es im hinteren Bereich ist, der vordere war schön. Nicht runtergekommen, sauber. Der Chef und Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett, freundlich. Zum Essen gibt es viel zum Auswahl. Wartezeit auf Fisch und mein Steak war ok. Und die Preise sind ganz okay. Zur Begrüßung zum besseren Abgang haben wir Aperitif bekommen. Der erste Besuch hat gutes Eindruck hinterlassen. Vielleicht wird was aus einem Stammrestaurant in Buchholz 😅

Standard bei Standartgerichten. Hervorragend bei ausgefallenen Speiseangeboten. Ganzjährig auch mit besonderen Fischspezialitäten. .... Hat seit dem Ende der Pandemie erheblich nachgelassen - in der Qualität der Speisen, nachlässiges Ambiente und bei der Freundlichkeit des Service. Schade.

Very tasty meat and a good portion. As befits a Greek. Yesterday we spontaneously reserved a table for 16 people (1.5 hours in advance). This was possible without any problems. There is free space for around 8 cars directly in the yard next to the entrance. If the store is full, this should be in short supply. It was enough for us because there wasn't much going on. We had six small children with us who weren't exactly quiet. This obviously also disrupted the operation at first. The good man was grumpy rather than friendly, especially when taking the order. We had a few special requests, all of which were implemented in the end. For example, I wanted a Bifteki instead of a Suzuki and I preferred rice instead of chips on my Rhodes plate. First I was supposed to pay for the Bifteki in full for €5.50, I negotiated that down to €3 with the boss and in the end the Bifteki turned out to be a little smaller and the exchange was possible at no extra charge. The meat was excellent in all dishes. Big compliments to the chef. Unfortunately my rice was still too hard, but the rest was just great. Salads, fried pepperoni, tzatzike, bread, fresh onions, etc. Everything was really good. And all the dishes came to the table at the same time and warm, which is not always a given. Price-performance is perfectly fine here. Not cheap, but good quality and portion sizes. Towards the end, our waitress was in a good mood and friendly again. The tip was deserved.😉 We found the atmosphere great and authentic. Everywhere was clean and tidy. If we are in Duisburg again, we will come back.

We came to this restaurant by chance during an overnight stay and were extremely satisfied. We were impressed by the very good food, the courteous service and the tastefully decorated restaurant. Could become our regular Greek, but 600 km is a bit far😉

Eating once a year is a tradition, after not so tasty food last year, this year it's an improvement. Very tasty meat, good portions at reasonable prices.

Unfortunately there are only potato chips (very dry) or rice (not cooked) as a side dish, no fries or fried potatoes on offer. General meat quality okay, gyros very tasty. Tsaisiki is very tasty as a starter, but is served without bread. Service staff committed, but quickly annoyed. Ouzo was offered free of charge before and after the meal, children got an ice cream and a lollipop on the house, which was really great! Overall we weren't that happy, just not our taste.

Very large menu, very friendly staff, toilets unfortunately in the basement and there is an entrance staircase so nothing for wheelchair users!!

Was the first time in this restaurant. Service was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The food, however, is a completely different story. The tzatziki was ok but a little tasteless, my gyros was dry like the desert and the calamari was fried way, way too long so that I had white and very hard rings on my plate that I have never seen before. The restaurant wasn't very busy so I hope this was an oversight, but I don't understand how a chef could allow something like this to leave the kitchen. With 3 people we spent over 100 euros and unfortunately I have to say, not again! Sorry!

Apparently the driver was dead, no greetings, no nothing. I had to take my food out of the box myself. I ordered a dish for just under €25 and only got a piece of bone and an abundance of sauce (as if it were a tomato soup). The French fries were laughable and everything tasted like absolutely nothing. It's a shame but today it was like that...

Unfortunately, because you were the last guest, you had the feeling that the waitress was waiting for you to finally go home, even though it wasn't yet 10 p.m.

Ich bestelle da immer mein Gyros Teller mit Bratkartoffeln. Und ich esse es gerne. Zu mein Kind sind die immer freundlich und zum Schluss bekommt sie noch ein Eis, sie ist da auch gerne. Manchmal ist es sehr laut da, dann kann man sich nicht so gut mit dem Partner unterhalten aber sonst ist alles top.

Mann fühlt sich abgefertigt und nicht wirklich willkommen. Schade war mal anders! Essen war OK, aber nichts wofür ich ein Restaurant besuchen muss bei diesem Preis.

Niet de beste tent, voelde me niet héél welkom. Personeel erg neutraal en het eten miste saus, dat moet je dan vragen. Maar normaliter krijg je dat erbij.

Am 23.11.2023 haben wir im Restaurant zu Abend essen wollen. Es gab viele freie Parkplätze und das Ambiente war vollkommen fein. Das Personal war wirklich überaus freundlich. Einziges Problem: An den folgenden Tagen hatten mein Partner und ich mit einer Lebensmittelvergiftung zu kämpfen (und tun es immer noch). Da wir nur dort zusammen gespeist haben und wir es zeitgleich am Folgetag merkten, kann es auch nur von diesem Essen kommen. Wirklich schade …

Sehr leckeres Gyros. Mit dem Metaxa wurde etwas gespart

Haben das Essen liefern lassen. Nach 60 min kam das Essen nicht gerade heiß an. Gyros, Schweinefilet, Schnitzel für 50€! Die Kartoffelchips waren matschig und nicht gewürzt. Salat ohne Gurke und Tomate, nur Eisberg Salat und etwas Kraut. Zuwenig Dressing. Schnitzel trocken und zu lange frittiert. Filet auch trocken. Gyros ohne Zwiebel und nicht gewürzt. Sehr enttäuschend bei dem Preis.

Wir kommen schon seit mehr als 15 Jahren zum Plaka Restaurant um lecker zu essen. Das Personal ist immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend ich kann die negativen Kommentare zum Personal nicht verstehen. Das Gyros mit Metaxa ist mit weitem Abstand das beste welches ich bisher gegessen habe sehr zart kein Fett absolut perfekt sowie auch alles andere an Fleisch. Preislich zur heutigen Zeit auch absolut fair. Kinder sind auch immer willkommen das gefällt uns sehr gut.

Haben am 21.10.2023 zur Abholung bestellt. Das Essen konnten wir nach 20 Minuten abholen. Personal war bei der Abholung freundlich. Bei einem von drei Gerichten war die falsche Beilage dabei (Kartoffelscheiben statt Folienkartoffel). Alle drei Beilagen haben so geschmeckt als wären Sie erneut frittiert bzw. aufgewärmt worden. Der mitgelieferte Salat besteht gefühlt zu 99% aus Eisbergsalat.

Ich gehe schon seit über 15 Jahren nach Plaka und bin noch nie enttäuscht worden. Auch das Personal ist immer sehr freundlich .Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen

Rustikaler Grieche. Preis / Leistung stimmt hier.

Wir waren mit der ganzen Familie dort essen. Service ist echt schlecht, man hat sich nicht getraut noch etwas zu bestellen. So unfreundlich war der Kellner, wie auch in den Bewertungen vor mir schon steht. Essen war auch nicht wirklich gut, gibt's in jeder Pommes Bude besser. Ambiente draußen schrecklich! Wir sind früher immer sehr gerne dort hin, jetzt nie wieder!

Das Essen war schlecht gewürzt . Der kleine Salat sehr lieblos mit Fertigdressing. Das Gyros hat uns nicht gut geschmeckt . Der Kellner war nicht sehr freundlich . Leider werden wir nicht wiederkommen :(

Das Essen ist mega! Die Mitarbeiter sehr höflich! Die Musik könnte etwas lauter sein, wenn man spricht hat man das Gefühl,dass alle einen hören können.
