Restaurant Pasternak in Berlin

Es sind 15° Außentemperatur, die Eingangstür steht durchgehend offen. Die kalte Luft weht durch den Gastraum. Wir werden an einen Tisch im Nebenraum platziert, wo es immer noch leicht zieht. Die Zweiertische sind klein und so eng gestellt, so dass das Hinsetzen eher ein "Hinfalten" ist. Selber Schuld: Das hätte ich schon auf dem Foto des Gastraums auf der Webseite erkennen können. Die Bestellung wird zeitnah aufgenommen und serviert. Meine Borschtsch mit Kalbfleisch ist lauwarm und macht den Eindruck, vom Vortag zu sein: Das enthaltene Fleisch ist teilweise in einzelne Fasern zerfallen, die Kräuter (Dill?) sind ohne Aroma und Farbe. Reste essen bei Mama ist leckerer. Das Hauptgericht, gegrilltes Hähnchenfleisch am Spieß mit Hummus und Kartoffelgratin kommt zeitlich auf den Punkt aber leider ist das Gratin ebenfalls nur handwarm und das Hähnchenfleisch wird auf der nicht gewärmten Platte ebenfalls schnell kühler. Geschmacklich ist der Spieß an sich nicht zu beanstanden, jedoch die dazu gereichte Soße: Sie kommt in einem winzigen Töpfchen (ca. 50 ml) und spielt geschmacklich in der gleichen Liga wie die Suppe. Zu Hause angekommen, finde ich eine E-Mail: "… wir sind sehr enttäuscht, dass wir Sie nicht wie erwartet … bei uns begrüßen konnten. Könnten Sie sich einen Moment Zeit nehmen, um uns die Gründe zu nennen?" Ich antworte: "… anbei die Kopie des Zahlungsbelegs… Ihre Mitarbeiter hat die Reservierung nicht interessiert. Niemand hat auf die Ansage, dass wir reserviert haben, im System nachgesehen und uns "abgehakt". Dafür habe ich das Pasternak jetzt abgehakt.

I had a kabob with chicken, hummus, and a shaved carrot salad. It was all excellent! Quick and efficient service.

Everything is fabulous. For dinner we ordered a plate of hummus and some dumplings, both dishes were delicious, and we were treated extremely well by Myki, who is very helpful and friendly, and speaks 5 languages ​​😮😊

Should not be hosting parties blasting music on a week night in a family oriented neighborhood. Extremely annoying and inappropriate.

While the food at this restaurant was flavorful and well-prepared, the extended wait time of 30-40 minutes for our meal was less than ideal. Additionally, the pricing felt somewhat inflated given the overall experience. It’s worth trying once, but it doesn’t quite stand out as exceptional.

I was here again recently, I've been here a lot before. The food is really good, all types of meat and pelmeni are recommended. The staff is always in a good mood and waiting times are kept to a minimum. I really enjoy being here when I'm in the region. Absolutely recommended!

A beer called "Moskva" is being sold there, in the third year of the Russian war. That alone is - at least - tasteless. But the waiter and not even the internet can say where this beer actually comes from. It seems to me that this is supposed to be a political statement.

A must try restaurant in Berlin with "exotic" tastes of Jewish and Russian cousine. I had my best "wareniki" of my life here. Great service and pleasant atmosphere. We all loved it in our group of 7. See you asap ❤️🍀💐

I was very enthusiastic at the beginning, even if the service wasn't the friendliest. Forgot the bread basket for eating. The food itself was very good until we found a plaster or bandage-like object in the food. The circumstance was addressed, a terse apology was given and the excuse that it was “paper”. Great at first, but unfortunately not recommended with items in the food.

Very, very tasty food and top service

I haven't been so positively surprised by a visit to a restaurant in a long time. Other reviews and a preliminary check of the menu made me curious and I wanted to see for myself. The three of us were lucky to get a place in the outdoor lighting without a reservation. As a family, we love good food, preferably freshly prepared and especially important: a good selection for meat and vegetable lovers. The menu promises many delicacies for every preference. And every dish chosen was simply delicious for the eyes and the palate. Also mention the pleasant atmosphere and the attentive and professional hospitality. (This is no longer a given in Berlin.) A clear recommendation from us and we would be happy to come back.

Very good, tasty and unique breakfast. Friendly service in a stylish atmosphere. Pleasant surroundings in Prenzlauer Berg. We'll be back soon. Another visit on 8/12/24: We still had to have a main course test: Kyiv Cutlet It was perfect to the point. Highly recommended. We will definitely treat ourselves again soon.

Great restaurant with traditional cuisine! Original, very aesthetic presentation of dishes, everything is very tasty! Olivier, pancakes, dumplings, shish kebab - I really liked everything we ordered! The dumplings are probably the most delicious I've eaten in Berlin! Olivier has also never seen such a serving anywhere, incredibly delicious! I also want to mention the cocktails - you can’t find such delicious ones in all bars! I ordered a porn star martini - it’s rarely made as it should be - with real passion fruit and a shot of champagne. The waiters and the girl bartender were also very friendly. In general, I definitely recommend this place and I will definitely visit it again and again!

We have been guests for years, but unfortunately it will stay that way. The food is fantastic as always, the service is getting worse. We miss smiles, warmth, hospitality, the restaurant was almost empty and yet everything took forever, the service seemed listless. It's a shame, it used to be very nice here.

Very nice location facing the gardens. Rustic furniture and decor. polite service without being professional. No questions about cooking meats. home cooking but rather high prices. Flies and wasps that jump on the dishes, which makes the moment a little painful.

Today was extremely hot. We had just finished eating somewhere else but gravitated to this beautiful garden like patio with its large inviting umbrellas and comfortable chairs. We ordered the lime-aid and the glasses arrived full of mint leaves and slices of lime. They were truly delicious! Perfect on a hot day. We looked at the menu and the plates on the other tables and wished we had come here first.

I have had the Borscht and liked it very much. But I think it was not outstanding. What was outstanding was the bread that came with it. Good meal for a lunch or dinner. But it didn’t really fit the prices honestly. Especially not with the service. The service was way below average and made me kinda feel disappointed. No one of the waiters didn’t really take the effort to make the customers feel very welcome. So you will get a nice dish but the service could be a lot better.

who selects the staff ? esp. this unprofessionel blonde mog with no interest but full of arrogancy turns only off. and inside, the restaurant is full of oil swathes and gives a strange contrast to the white table clothes. unfortunately just witnessing the decline of this once really nice place

The food is very good (Russian Jewish), nice terrace, but the service is a disaster (and I speak German): after 25', while the restaurant is not full, I have to ask for my order to be taken. Once finished, no one offers me the card. I have to ask again... Honestly annoying.

Both starter and main course were excellent: perfectly fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. We have already drunk better varieties of kvass, which - like your product - were produced outside of Russia (getting original Russian products is naturally difficult under today's known circumstances), so maybe think about a different supplier? The service was also very friendly and professional, the points deduction only comes from long waiting times, which of course the service cannot do anything about. All in all, the highest score, we haven't been very frequent visitors for decades (we don't live around the corner), but we have been regular visitors, and the restaurant hasn't lost anything during this time, maybe even gained something.

Summary: the best pelmeni I have ever had in an authentic atmosphere with friendly service Dishes (- negative / = ok / + positive): + pelmeni: delicious, well-seasoned and tasty good quality meat filling with great dough wrapping; nice spicy sauce and excellent yogurt, which can be mixed dipped at your convenience and add to the full-bodied flavor experience Service: + very friendly - a bit in a hurry and sometimes a bit slow, but it was full house Price: + fair price for value at €19 for pelmeni, which is a lot of manual work Atmosphere: + atmosphere in authentic Eastern European style - it gets very loud when full

Very little food for a lot of money. It took a very long time, then 4 tiny pancakes for 11€. After 5 bites the food is gone. It wasn't more than an appetizer. We were disappointed

Dinner for two on a Thursday evening during our visit to Berlin. The restaurant is away from the main city area but easily reached on the great tram system and is located in a very nice leafy area of the city. The service was quick and efficient but this place is all about the quality of the food which is outstanding! A special mention for the Pulka one of the specialties, it was the best chicken dish I have ever tasted… If you visit Berlin don’t miss this place or the Pulka😄

As always, a very fine evening. The appetizer platter was great, the venison was impeccable, accompanied by Georgian red wine - what more could you want.

We absolutely loved our romantic outdoor dinner at Restaurant Pasternak this week! Delicious food in a restful setting--and we're always thrilled to have such tasty vegetarian options! We plan to return for breakfast during our stay in Berlin as well.

The reservation process was very quick, and the service was friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious, every dish was a hit. The starters were fantastic: Herring under fur coat & Blini-Röllchen mit Lachs - definitely a must-try! It's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. :) The only downside was that the table was a bit too small for our group of 11 people, but it wasn't a major issue. This place definitely deserves a visit, and I'll definitely be back again! Don't bother looking elsewhere - this is the restaurant you'll want to visit!

There were four of us, I had the pelmeni. These were from the metro, overcooked and unappetizing, cost €19. My colleagues had a little better luck, although the portion sizes and quality certainly don't justify the prices. The staff was annoyed and not very hospitable (despite a moderate number of visitors) and there were errors in billing, it was a big mess. Conclusion: My condolences to every guest, there are countless better alternatives within walking distance with high-quality cuisine, friendlier staff and without exorbitant prices. Never again

One of the best restaurants you will find in this area and is worth a visit for some breakfast, brunch or lunch. A big East European influence throughout the menu. Their breakfast choices, especially No2, is fantastic, as are the pancakes, which I was reliably informed once again by the "experts" in my family, were really really good. Coffee was excellent as was their home made lemonade. Service and atmosphere are first rate and deserve a mention. A great choice if the weather looks half decent as well. There is a lot to choose from in this area, and still, this one sits above the others I have been to. Highly recommended.
