Restaurant Metaxa in Castrop-Rauxel

Cozy restaurant with good, fast and attentive service (the children at the table were given a “children’s ouzo” as a welcome drink so they could toast with the adults. The food was very, very tasty, the portions very generous, so that we were able to eat from the grill plate for two at home the next day. We will be happy to come back! A reservation is definitely recommended at the weekend!

Classic but good Greek. Lots of choice of food, you could happily reduce it. Price-performance is definitely okay. Unfortunately my dish didn't come with tzatziki and then I had to pay an extra €5 for a mini plate of tzatziki, which I think is far too much, especially for a Greek restaurant where that's the thing...

Great restaurant with good food - and plenty of ouzo 😉. Parking spaces are a bit rare but no problem on the nearby main road.

What can I say? Really very tasty. The service is very courteous and polite. The food was extremely tasty. The biftki and the gyros are really very tasty. Totally juicy and good! We wanted to go there twice, but everything was full. Good for the hosts, bad for us. If we're in the corner again, we'll definitely stop by.

The restaurant is quite inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior is very well designed and the layout of the dining rooms is simply perfect. The highlight is the food and the friendliness of the service staff. Therefore, the rating without deductions is always 5 stars. Please keep it up in 2025.

Price/performance are completely ok. The employees are polite, but we mean something different by friendly. Jumping out of your pants when asked about the invoice is not okay. Conclusion: unfortunately nothing has changed, even 😃 needs to be learned.

Great food. Deliciously seasoned, soft meat, even the bifteki practically falls apart on its own. We were there today for the first time based on a recommendation and certainly not the last time. All tables were occupied. Nothing possible without reservation. We sat in the winter garden. The service was very attentive, not intrusive. Friendly and calm despite the stress. In short: everything is great

Super tasty, large portions, reasonable price, great service

A nice restaurant, a little noisy because there is a lot of traffic and there are a lot of people eating there. The service is great and very polite. The food is great and the portions aren't exactly small. I can see that if you don't have a problem it might be a bit louder and if you're not eating like a sparrow :) Price performance is definitely very good.

2024 I have revised my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars. We were there yesterday and sat in the large main room, which is much more comfortable than the winter garden, despite the high noise level. The food was really great. The sea bream was very seasoned and really tasty and there was a chocolate cake for dessert. The service was attentive and friendly, and the drinks we ordered always came quickly. This time I have nothing to complain about, it was a nice evening. 2023 The food was actually quite good, although the prawns were relatively tasteless. Unfortunately, I found the atmosphere uncomfortable because it was very loud and we had four different waiters, which seemed very impersonal. On the positive side, there was an ouzo on the house before and after the meal. The price-performance ratio was ok, but I have to say that I didn't find it as special as I had heard before.

Very attentive and friendly staff. Short to reasonable waiting times for food and drink requests are fulfilled very quickly. Above-average price/performance ratio in terms of portion sizes and, more importantly, the quality of the food. My wife only orders lamb here apart from the Mediterranean travel destinations! We have been guests here more or less regularly for many years and have never been disappointed. For us the best Greek restaurant in the area. Many regular customers speak for themselves. A clear recommendation. Reservations are recommended, we are always surprised at how busy the restaurant is, even on days when there is nothing going on elsewhere. We are already looking forward to the next culinary short vacation!

Went there with our gang and everyone was very happy. Delighted with the menu selection on the menu. If you don't find anything here, it's your own fault. The service was also very friendly and attentive. The only criticism we can make is that it was quite loud. Maybe it was because we had a table near the entrance and the restaurant is very busy. We definitely weren't there for the last time, because for us it was the best Greek restaurant we visited. 👌😋

Overall, the lamb plate tasted good. The salad with a kind of Texas dressing, however, was a little bland. The main course was served about 2 minutes after the salad. The service could have been a little more attentive. Overall, the prices are rather high compared to other Greek restaurants

Been there again after a long time. The food was really very good. The portions are really more than adequate before and afterwards there is something to drink on the house. The service is very attentive. Personally, that's just my opinion. I think the interior of the restaurant is a bit dark. I liked it better with the light arches on the walls, but that's a matter of taste. We can only recommend it, but everyone should know that you should make a reservation! Personally, I recommend the Cyclops plate

Very nice restaurant with great service. Authentic. Drinks came quickly and so did the side salad. There was a very nice ouzo to welcome us. The main courses came at the same time, so we were able to start together. There are enough parking spaces in the yard and the open winter garden is a great location for eating. Gladly again

We decided at short notice on a Friday evening to follow a recommendation. Called... table reserved. We were greeted very friendly by the entire staff and taken to the reserved table. The restaurant was well filled. The waiters were all very accommodating. Drinks and food have a good price-performance ratio. The fish plate is highly recommended. Grill plate super tender meat. Very tasty tzatziki. What was a bit annoying was the proximity to the neighboring table. Since the lady there was talking very loudly to the whole table, we could hardly have a conversation. And people smoke in the winter garden and when the doors are wide open the stench wafts into the guest room. But this restaurant is still highly recommended.

Herrlich gutes Essen! Vorspeise war super, die Hauptspeisen sind göttlich! Wir haben 3 x hier gegessen umd immer etwas anderes bestellt. Umd jedesmal war das Essen einmalig gut! I'm happy to give full marks here... we spent a very cozy evening there with our friends... we were greeted in a very friendly manner as soon as we arrived... each of us had a different dish... which tasted great have. ..the portions were mega....there was no problem taking what I didn't have with me...I felt like my thoughts were being read....whenever I had a request, one of the friendly waiters was with me straight away. ...we will definitely come back and I can highly recommend this restaurant. The four of us arrived late in the afternoon without a reservation, were greeted nicely and asked where we wanted to sit... With the great weather, we of course went out on the terrace. This can be adjusted to the weather with tarpaulins guided on rails. What has to be said, the view of the entrance does not correspond to the well-kept ambience inside. The meals with grilled main dishes were very tasty and plentiful. You have to like the omelet with feta, tasty but a bit salty. Session everything in the form of white asparagus, salmon and potatoes in an orange sauce. Very tasty, pleasantly surprised by the sauce. The potatoes were ok, but went better. Service, wishes and drinks top. Criticism at the top

I haven't been there for a long time and now I know I have to come back as soon as possible. Service top...no glass was empty for more than 1 minute, very friendly and always tried to do everything for the guest. But now to the most important thing: A fantastic meal. Metaxa plate with suflaki, gyros, beef steak and lamb....with fries, rice and Metaxa sauce.... I haven't eaten something so delicious in a long time. This at a price-performance ratio that is unbeatable... I'm glad I had the idea to visit you again...
