We ate there with a small group; it was very tasty and fairly priced. The service was always available but not intrusive. I'm already looking forward to the next time. There was nothing to complain about – top-notch!

Restaurant Mediteran is a reliable choice for a hearty meal in Duisburg’s city centre — especially if you appreciate large portions, a welcoming atmosphere and a good value.

Very easy to reach, parking garage just a few minutes' walk away. Bus and train stops are also nearby. Very nice and friendly service, very quick even when there are many guests. The food is always delicious and plentiful, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. We've always had a lovely time there with good food. Highly recommended, would gladly return.

Our Mediterranean go-to for 35 years! A versatile Balkan platter: if you're not in the mood for liver, simply add more cevapcici. These, combined with the fries and the creamy sauce on the buttered vegetables, make it simply perfect! Once Mediterranean, always Mediterranean with the whole family!

Delicious food in a great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

It was a great stay. If you want to be very strict, I thought €10.50 for my starter, which was supposed to include olives (it only came with four), was a bit steep. But otherwise, it was so delicious and the staff was great, so it's really not worth mentioning. Otherwise, the prices seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

We ate at a restaurant yesterday and the waiter brought us the wrong food and drinks twice. Then I had to go to the toilet. I have never seen such a dirty toilet in a restaurant where you could see the dirt on the doors as soon as you walked in. When you closed the doors, they were sticky and I don't want to talk about the floor. The toilets haven't been cleaned in a long time. We are from Duisburg but we won't go there again.

Everything was great! A typical Croatian restaurant: a bit meat-heavy, generous portions, very tasty, and a salad buffet. We sat outside – protected from the wind behind a glass wall, but still very cozy inside.

Families are also in good hands – the atmosphere is relaxed, children are welcome, and there's enough choice to ensure everyone is satisfied. Another plus point: the location. Located right in the city center, the Mediteran is easily accessible, and there are several parking garages nearby. This allows for a relaxed arrival without having to spend a long time looking for a parking space. In summary: A restaurant that's perfect for every occasion—whether with family, friends, or just the two of you. Honest, friendly, and with good food that will make you want to return.

We went there today for a family dinner, and we were all very satisfied. We'd be happy to go back. Unfortunately, there is one complaint: the older waiter has a very unfriendly manner and gives the impression that he doesn't enjoy his job.

Simply perfect! We've been eating here almost every weekend since 2019 – and for good reason. The quality of the food is consistently excellent. The fries are always crispy, neither greasy nor overly salty, and don't need any seasoning. The cevapcici with djuvec rice and ajvar are particularly noteworthy. The schnitzel dishes are also consistently impressive. Not only are the schnitzels huge, they're also golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. The hunter's schnitzel with bacon and pickles in the sauce deserves a special mention. The portions are extremely generous. You can customize your salad with each dish. During the week, the daily specials are accompanied by a changing soup of the day – such as cream of mushroom soup, cream of asparagus, tomato rice, broccoli, or cream of potato soup – all of which are always delicious. The servers are always friendly, attentive, and professional. You feel welcome and well looked after without it being intrusive. Her prompt and courteous manner contributes significantly to ensuring that every visit is a pleasant one. A place where quality, taste, and value for money have been consistently good for years.

We were there again yesterday, and I have to say the service is declining. The waiter was unfriendly, the service was minimal, and the food wasn't great either. Friendliness costs nothing and should be a given. It's good that there are other places with great service. The manager really needs to change that. Everyone has their job to do, in every profession.

The best restaurant for me in a very long time

We went there to have a beer. No one came outside to serve us, so I went in. Inside, there were immediately a lot of employees, both behind and in front of the bar. I ordered two beers and said we were sitting outside. I indicated that I would wait until the beer was finished, as it seemed busy. The waiter next to me just said he would bring it out. But he immediately asked seriously if we wanted anything to eat. When I said no, thanked him for the service, and walked out, that was it for the time being. We then had to wait a bit, and when the beer was brought to us, we weren't treated well. I asked politely if we should pay now or if it would be okay to pay later. He shrugged his shoulders and then said, "NOW... CASH," and went back inside. He came out with the bill and put it in front of me. The bill was €11.60. I then gave him €15, and he gave me €3 back. So, I pocketed a €0.40 tip for the lousy service. I'm very happy to tip, but not if someone makes it clear that I'm not welcome. So we finished our drinks and left, even though we would have liked to stay longer. If you're not welcome because you didn't order anything to eat, just communicate that clearly, and that's it.

I would happily give 0 stars if I could. We arrived on Friday evening around 8:30 p.m. and just wanted to have a drink. When we told the waiter, he just rolled his eyes and asked in a rude tone what we wanted. After just 20 minutes the waiter came and cashed in, even though we were only halfway through our drink. If the store had been full and we had taken the space outside from someone who would have brought in more sales, we would have been understanding. At that time there was only one table outside occupied by two people and as far as I could see there were no more than 10 people sitting inside. Conclusion: poor and outrageous service scares away customers who would otherwise have come back for dinner. We could only smile at the cellar's "come back soon" at the end. One time was more than enough for us.

Very friendly service, table was reserved upon request. Distance is maintained. The food is served hot, is very tasty and the portions are large and not expensive. We're going back here.

The service wasn't particularly good that day... We were seated 40 minutes before anyone took our drinks order, despite several requests from us... It can happen that the staff is missing... The food and the ambience are great and then you can turn a blind eye... So always happy...

Food was too dry and cold. I told the waiter he didn't do anything he said OH. I've been a guest for 20 years and I would never go there again. I think it's an impertinence on the part of the waiter that he didn't bring the dish back to the kitchen!

I had spaghetti with crab. The spaghetti had a bit too much bite, and the cream sauce was very watery and flavorless. If the waiters had been more motivated, we would have had the opportunity to order more drinks.

Das Essen war das schlechteste, was mir je in einem Restaurant vorgesetzt wurde. Das Essen kam nach 10 Minuten, nach der Bestellung zum Tisch. Das Fleisch schmeckte wie aufgewärmt, die Soße war geschmacklich eine Maggi-Tüte, der Brokkoli war nicht fertig gekocht und wurde von einer Tetrapack-Hollendase gekrönt. Und dann habe ich gesehen, wie im Mediterran, ein Gästeplatz neu fertig gemacht wurde. Der Tisch wurde nicht mit einem Tuch gereinigt, nur die Platzgedecke wurde vor unseren Augen umgedreht. Hier gibt es schlechtes Essen, auf dreckigen Platzdecken. Ich empfehle niemanden hier zu essen.

The food was the worst meal I have had in a restaurant to date. The food came 10 minutes after we ordered. The meat tasted like it had been reheated a second time. There was a lack of spices and the sauces were not homemade. The vegetables were undercooked and had a small dollop of Tetrapark hollandase poured over them. The potato wedges were salt and spice free. I saw how the waiter, after clearing away at the next table, instead of picking up a cloth, just turned over the placemat. The placemats at our place were also dirty. You could see grease stains everywhere and they were lying upside down on the table. I don't recommend anyone to eat here. For me too it is said that it was the first and last time in this restaurant.

I have described my personal impressions by December 2024. But Google's algorithm doesn't like that anymore. Even with positive reviews of 4 and 5 stars, it accuses me of saying that my perceptions violate the guidelines and are viewed and prosecuted as slander. But Google doesn't explain what these violations consist of,  especially since it hasn't been a problem for years. So what else can I write here if Google keeps turning off reviews in such vague terms? How can I do justice to the location, the service provider, the offer or the product. Dear users and dear operators, with the valid Google algorithm I cannot help you with a qualified rating. :-( 😞

The service is getting worse and worse. The unfriendliness of the employees can hardly be topped. The last two times have given us the rest. We won't go there again after what happened there. Unfortunately, the food has also deteriorated. The great lunch menu that I wrote in the original review was no longer available after a short time, but is still available on the homepage!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------- ------- Whenever we are in Duisburg, we go here for lunch. This time the lunch menu was new. There was a lot of choice with starter soup and small dessert. You can take salad from the buffet. The prices on the lunch menu are absolutely ok. The food tastes delicious and the portions are not too small. The waiters are often very reserved. That's why sometimes it doesn't come across as very friendly.

Women's toilets need to be renovated. The floor and sink weren't exactly clean and no one took care of it, which I have to assume means the problem has been going on for a long time and no one is taking care of it.

It was a good visit and also good value for money

Time for something to eat and came across this restaurant. Wasn't busy and got several table choices. Sit together in a cozy alcove. Extensive menu and since it is a Balkan restaurant, we opted for mixed grill & cevapcici and salad. Staff was very nice and had time for a chat. Food was really tasty. Finally, we drank tea and coffee and had some schnapps/liqueur on the house, which was very good to drink. Nice restaurant with good and tasty food.

unhelpful staff and poor treatment of guests

We ate there with 30 people on Christmas Day and we all got the food at the same time and it was hot and delicious. The waiters were stressed but still very friendly and accommodating.

This restaurant is not possible... we waited forever for a table despite having a reservation (stood in the aisle with about 20 other people and were insulted by the cellars because we were in the way). Not a friendly word from a waiter... we had to have cutlery we asked and it was thrown unkindly on the table... My friend's food wasn't cooked through and we had to return it. Apparently they forgot about it and I ate alone. When I asked for the bill, the missing food was noticed and they were offended that we didn't want it anymore. In all seriousness, they even wanted to charge her for her drink and didn't even offer an excuse. Something as unfriendly as this staff is really an imposition. Never again!!!

Food was very good, service staff on the ball, despite the restaurant being full at Christmas time. It was a little louder because there were no acoustic panels or room dividers. As I said, pre-Christmas time and it was full.

Unfortunately I can't rate anything - this store is a scam. Made a reservation online because we couldn't get through by phone. However, online reservations are not valid as they cannot be made through to the restaurant. It's only possible by phone. It's nice if you can't get through and these days it's common to reserve online. The staff doesn't see the error, is unfriendly and not interested in solving the problem. Not customer friendly at all. Sad!

Unfortunately, I reserved a table via Google and didn't get any feedback for over a week. So I called the restaurant. The table for the desired day with so many people was no longer possible. The man on the phone was very nice and tried everything, but it no longer worked. Due to the lack of feedback, I can no longer get another table for a larger group during the Christmas season. So it's better to call and reserve and not via Google, that doesn't work.

Starter (soup) was not served. Main course was good.

The food we ordered was delicious. A table was reserved for 7 people, the waiter asked if 7 people would also appear, which we couldn't answer with yes or no. We were seated at a table that could accommodate a maximum of 6 people. So we were seated at a table in the entrance area. It was very noisy there because other guests were waiting for a table and our table was constantly exposed to drafts due to the in and out. Even though the restaurant was pretty full, my friends and I hardly noticed anything. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was MEGA and everything was reasonably priced. Thanks to the whole team. We'd love to come back.

Pleasant to sit and eat delicious food

Totally recommended! The food was delicious. We ordered the lunch menu which included soup, salad bar, main course and dessert. The main course was very large and all the dishes were delicious. The price-quality ratio was excellent and the service was also very good.

As you know it from before when you still went to the “Yugoslavs”. Lots of meat, large portions, very good value for money. The menu is actually too big, but there is something for everyone as long as you like meat. The meats from the grill plate were perfectly grilled, for example. Turkey well done but juicy, steak medium, etc. The lunch menu in particular is unbeatable. You should definitely make a reservation on the weekend.

Price performance is right, quantity is also good, only I know that rasnici is made with pork loin and not pork neck, unfortunately Cevapcici is unseasoned

Came here in Sunday, when everything else was closed. We were greeted with a smile, fast service and complimentary salad from the buffet. Food was tasty. Good portion size and great price - quantity ratio. I absolutely loved my pasta with Gorgonzola sauce and bbq chicken. Would come again for sure

Never experienced such rude service. The older gentleman probably doesn't feel like doing his work anymore. Complains that with 6 people we order 3x grill plates for 2 people because it's so much. In hindsight he was right but that can be communicated better. I was also jostled at the table because I didn't turn to the side while serving. I was chatting and didn't notice him. When paying, the waiter rolled his eyes because we were separated and one of us wanted to pay with a card. The food was very filling and tasted okay. Unfortunately, the lettuce at the buffet was brown in some places and I had part of the stalk. Old-fashioned atmosphere. Dozens of flies disturbed the meal because the restaurant had no air conditioning and therefore had the doors and windows open.

Went to this 'Jugo' again for lunch... Very tasty and cheap... First a soup, then the main course with a salad from the buffet and a small dessert....

Today, August 25th, 2024, we were at the Mediterran again after a long time, and the first thing we noticed was the really unfriendly staff (especially the older gentleman) We ordered the Duisburg plate twice, which we always enjoyed eating here. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as usual, the fried potatoes were partly tarnished and had no taste, the fillet was very thin and therefore dry. When we cleared it we weren't even asked if we liked it. We haven't experienced anything like this in all these years. You can have a bad day, but nothing worked here today

Wir hatten uns dieses Restaurant ausgesucht, weil wir hier sehr schön im Freien sitzen konnten. Die Speisekarte ist riesig, deutsche, kroatische und internationale Küche. Ich hatte Pola Pola mit Pommes, Reis, Ajvar. Alles sehr lecker und sehr reichhaltig. Zuvor durfte ich mich selbst am Salatbuffet bedienen. Auch hier war die Auswahl groß und alles lecker. Service war sehr gut. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis beim Essen fanden wir gut, die Getränke fanden wir etwas zu teuer. Alles in allem würde ich dieses Restaurant jeder Zeit wieder sehr gerne besuchen.

I have been a loyal customer for many years. Unfortunately, I'm always disappointed with the drinks. The cola tastes old, like it's been open for two days. It's frustrating to see that the rest of the cola isn't thrown away. On the other hand, everything else tastes very good.
