Restaurant Lehmofen in Kassel

The food was simply delicious. We ordered three different types, and everything was delicious: pasta, pizza, and a plate for two with four different types of meat, two sides, and salad. It easily accommodates three people. The service was 10/10, and on the way out, they gave us a typical dessert from the house. Highly recommended.

Very friendly and attentive service, probably hard to beat in Kassel! Good pizza, but the highlight are the delicious Turkish dishes, especially those from the eponymous clay oven! The prices are cheap to reasonable. After over a year in Kassel, the Lehmofen is and remains my favorite restaurant in the city! Someone else wrote, "The food was nothing special, just like at the kebab shop at the Stern." Wow, seriously? Tell me the kebab shop at the Stern where they serve something as good as the clay oven platter! Update June 2020 ============== Even three years later, I wouldn't change my review. Still one of the best restaurants in Kassel, and perhaps even among the best value for money. Update January 2023 ================ I was there between Christmas and New Year with a group of ten people, none of whom were familiar with the clay oven. Everyone was thrilled and praised me for my restaurant choice. Update July 2025 ============== For me, it is and remains the best restaurant in Kassel

Everything tastes great! The pide, cutlets, and tapas are incredibly delicious 😋! Highly recommended! All the waiters were very friendly and nice! The food was served very quickly, without long waits.

Fast and friendly service. The restaurant is designed like a clay oven, which adds to the atmosphere. There's a large selection of tapas, each of which was delicious. The main course portions were generous, but you could have leftovers packed away.

The food there is very tasty. Everything is great value for money.

We had the kofte platter, which tasted completely bland. Two small pieces of broccoli, and no peppers to be seen. The Adana kebab was full of gristle. The service was nice, but when we asked if we enjoyed it and our criticism, all we got was "I'm sorry." Nothing more. The overall atmosphere was okay. The floors in the restrooms were sticky, as if they hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and all in all, the price/performance/ambience ratio is completely out of proportion. We can't recommend this restaurant.

It was our first time there. A very friendly welcome, a small beer garden, and very attentive service! The food is on the higher end, but very tasty, plentiful, and good. A free digestive schnapps for everyone at the end – a very nice gesture! We can recommend this place with a clear conscience! We'll be back!

The food and especially the service were great. Only the beer was a disaster. The draft wheat beer was sour; maybe the taps should be flushed? The naturally cloudy binding was a disgrace. But that's also the brewery's fault.

Unfortunately, I don't understand the other reviews. When we were there, they served a ready-made soup that was slimy and inedible. The main course was also bland and overpriced for what was offered. Unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn't any better. You could see into the kitchen, where everything was dirty and loud. The restrooms weren't any better. The only good thing was the nice waitress.

We've been to the clay oven several times and have always been impressed! We can only recommend it! We also think it's great that it's open all day; we like going in the late afternoon/early evening!

For many years I have been celebrating my birthday with my dear colleagues in the clay oven, including yesterday! There were 16 of us, we all got our food at the same time, not only did it look very lovingly prepared, everyone also tasted great! The service was great as always, the two girls were very friendly and attentive! Price-performance ratio is completely okay! We always feel comfortable there and if I could give more stars I would! The boss was also absolutely friendly and professional, thank you for everything and see you next time

The clay oven in Kassel is absolutely recommended! The service was friendly and attentive right from the start - you immediately feel welcome. The food came quickly and was not only hot but also incredibly tasty. I was particularly impressed by the loving furnishings: every corner is designed with a lot of heart and creates a cozy, inviting atmosphere. A place to return to!

Discovered by chance, well attended but still managed to get a spot. Food was freshly prepared from the clay oven, very tasty. Definitely make a reservation, it is always very busy.

There was hair in the salad. It came as lentil soup, but I couldn't taste lentils. Even the ready-made soup is better than this. The pita I ate was good with spinach, but my wife's pita with cubed pita was literally replaced with roasted hair.

Had a great meal here 3 days in a row. From my Italian-Turkish roots I can say the best flavors from both worlds. Highly recommended, good price-quality ratio

We were there as a group for a Christmas party. I was the only one who got my food, an hour before everyone else. Normally, you choose your own tapas, but they just handed me three. One of them was completely overseasoned. I didn't like it. The bread that came with it was delicious. Apparently, the restaurant's quality has declined considerably, because I'd previously heard nothing but good things about it. It's a shame. I won't be back and can't recommend it.

We were very satisfied! Very nice and courteous service and the tapas/mezze were very tasty and available in a large selection. I also think it's good that you can see what's on offer so you can choose. It's completely okay that it's warmed up again briefly in the oven, but the quality was still very good.

The clay oven is located on the Weserspitze - at the corner of Magazinstrasse. The restaurant specializes in higher class Turkish dishes - but very fairly priced. The dishes are of the best quality - very nice staff - and I can highly recommend the clay oven. Definitely - Very good.

I was in Kassel with my wife to visit family and we ate at this restaurant. The food was fantastic, especially the juicy meat, and very well grilled, just TOP. The salad was good and the bulgur was also very tasty. The food was perfect. The waitress was very respectful and nice. The owner of the restaurant is a wise man and a gentleman. He welcomed us very warmly and showed us great respect. The decoration is good, kind of old traditional school, which is cool. But I think they could be modernized a bit and made more luxurious. That was just my idea. Still, we had a great time there. If I come back to Kassel, we will definitely visit this restaurant again and look forward to another warm welcome. 🙏🏽😊

We were there early enough that we easily got a table without a reservation, it was quiet, friendly service, excellent food, no annoying football broadcast despite the European Championship game between Germany and Hungary... everything was great. The star deduction in the service is because I couldn't tell from the menu which dishes contain products made from cow's milk. But I chose well (239) and therefore had no problem with the food itself. If I lived somewhere here, I would definitely and very much like to come back.

Das ist Essen ist super-ich mag das Angebot. Freundliche Bedienung, wenn man nachbestellen möchte muss man selbst aktiv werden, lag wohl am gut besuchten Abend. Leider ist die Speisekarte online immer noch veraltet wie schon von anderen hier bemängelt. Gemüse Spieß aktuell 19.90€ das verhältnis zu den Fleischgerichten-fragwürdig. War lecker aber teuer wie ich finde! Ansonsten waren alle begeistert von den Speisen. Bis bald!
