Restaurant Kutterfisch in Sassnitz

Every holiday on the Baltic Sea requires at least one visit to the Kutterfisch Restaurant. The fish is always very tasty and the price-performance ratio is right. The restaurant is decorated with many decorative items from the world of fishing etc. Five stars and we'll be back

Excellent sandwiches and fish dishes. Gigantic portions, even of fries. Convenient for a quick stop, self-service. Very honest price.

Expectations were exceeded! We had perch and herring. The perch was very well fried and everything was deliciously seasoned. The portion was exceptionally large...had three large perch fillets. Two would have been enough for me. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is friendly. Waiting time was reasonable for the freshly prepared food. Thank you very much!

As always, everything was good! You just have to make sure you can get a free place... Food is great!

Since the season is already over, we found space relatively well. I think self-service is smart because it means you don't have to keep staff unnecessarily. Plus, it certainly shortens the waiting time. We were well satisfied.

Disappointing for dog owners Unfortunately we couldn't enter the back of the restaurant with our dog, which disappointed us. Hygiene rules are of course important, but it would be nice if a solution could be found here - as in many other restaurants. The restaurant was recommended to us, but since we were traveling with a dog, we were denied access to the dining area. It's a shame that we can't rate the food - we would have liked to try it.

Very good cod fillet. Tasty prepared cod, with roasted potatoes, mini salad and cold beer. Definitely worth visiting this place....for the first time and again.

Visited for the first time today. Super tasty, cozy atmosphere, quick service despite the rush, very fresh and tasty! We will definitely come back next time we visit Rügen :)

Looked a little sterile at first glance, but the guest room is really furnished in a rustic maritime style. The view of the harbor is also very nice. The food is fresh and delicious...

Although it is self-service, the fish served there is some of the freshest in Sassnitz.

The restaurant is located directly at the harbor. You can sit outside in large beach chairs or comfortably inside. Everything is self-service, but you know that. The food is rich and prepared really fresh and tasty. Very good quality. Service at the counter was very friendly. Prices for self-service restaurants in the upper range. All in all, we can recommend the Kutterfisch and would be happy to come back ourselves.

Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience here. At first we were sold imported frozen fish, even though we specifically asked for freshly caught fish. When we asked another employee, we found out that this fish was frozen from the Atlantic. The cook told us stupidly that it was common knowledge about which fish lives in which body of water and that we should clarify this with the sellers, he is “just the cook”. The seller from the beginning then seriously tried to tell us that the fish was fresh - freshly caught in the Atlantic and then transported to Germany frozen. But it's fresh. After a long discussion we managed to get the plates canceled and got zander for a very high additional charge. The fried potatoes were 3/4 completely burnt and you couldn't even chew them. We each had half a cherry tomato. A portion cost €22 each! For self-service and a horrible view. There is trash from fishing everywhere. We wouldn't advise anyone to eat here.

We ate there twice and were very satisfied. Friendly service and, for a self-service restaurant, a nice ambience and attractively prepared plates.

Quite place where you can eat fresh fish and spend time chatting

There is no trolley outside for used dishes and the door to the outside would have to open automatically.

Delicious fish rolls freshly baked in dough. Not pre-baked like at other places and then quickly baked again in the deep fryer.

Super great food. Waiting time low. Ambience great. Despite the fact that it was full at lunchtime, the noise level was low. My husband and I had the fried fish after Grandma. Appetizingly prepared and a portion that was really filling. I can only recommend it. We will definitely come back

Since it happened to us several times during the one week of vacation that restaurants were still CLOSED despite the supposed and advertised opening times, we beamed with joy and went to the right restaurant after the first shock, the locked door to the parking garage with "Kutterfisch" written above it. The food: Everything we had was very tasty and in sufficient quantity. No matter whether fish solyanka, herring plate or shrimp skewers. Everything deserved the name and one found e.g. For example, in the solyanka there were also many recognizable cubes of fish and the skewers were full of shrimp along their entire length. I liked that the fried potatoes with spring onions, well seasoned, not so greasy and very tasty, were delivered separately from the herring plate. SERVICE: Well, since it's "self-serving", I give myself 5 stars. ;-) The lady taking the order was friendly and quick. Special requests for compilation were fulfilled. You can take the drinks with you straight away and there is a kind of paiger for the food. If it rattles, the food is ready. It was reasonably quick for a freshly prepared and completely full restaurant. Cutlery, napkins, spices and food are all available. You have to find it together and see how you get it into place. That's not mine. That's why I get 2 stars for my service. AMBIENCE: It's just great! Maybe a bit too much bells and whistles. But that's exactly what makes it so comfortable once you've made it into the dining room. Everything says “stay a little longer!” All the wooden furnishings, the rope-wrapped table legs, and, and, and! We'll be back! No question!

Inexpensive and very good food right in the Sassnitz harbor. A must for me when I'm in Sassnitz

If you love fresh fish, this is the place for you. Wonderful furnishings in a rustic Fischer style. You order and pay at the front of the counter, get a beeper and take a seat until the device rings. Everything is freshly prepared and you have to wait a while. But it's worth it. The food is amazing!! We came here for dinner several times because we loved it. You should also come early in the evening as the shop is buzzing. We were always there around 6 p.m. and always got a seat, later it gets very crowded. On our next visit to Rügen it is a must for us: off to the cutter fish.

We've eaten here several times and it's simply delicious. We always enjoy coming here. It's just self-service, but it doesn't hurt anyone. The view of the harbor and the ambience in the store are great. If you like, you can also sit outside in one of the beach chairs.

If you want to eat delicious fresh fish on Rügen, cutterfish is an absolute must in our opinion.

You just have to love it. The food was great, the matjes variants with fried potatoes were excellent.

Grandma's fried fish with potato salad was a delicious treat. There was also delicious Störtebecker beer, which is a popular place to stop off.

12 degrees, stormy winds and as a dog owner you have the disadvantage as always and are allowed to eat outside. Not only the dog, but also us were completely frozen, so even the best food is of no use.

The fish was super tasty and the portion was generous. The atmosphere is very nice, right on the harbor with a view of the water. There are nice beach chairs outside with space for 4 people. Very nice here.

I'm sitting here today for the second time on vacation and what can I say? I ordered the panfish today and compared to the fried fish (which was also good) that I had two days ago, this cod, lightly floured, is a poem. Super tender, juicy and excellently prepared with its typical taste. The fried potatoes and mustard seed sauce also went well with it. The homemade cucumber salad was also very tasty. Top

I always enjoy eating there. There is a changing daily menu and a lot of other things from fried fish to bratwurst. The atmosphere is cozy, like a fishing pub, and there are plenty of seats available outside. The prices are ok and the preparation is delicious and also something to behold.

Very tasty fish sandwiches. The very friendly staff recommended a suitable wine and enjoyed the sun in a beach chair. A great experience.

Nice restaurant with delicious food. Unfortunately only self-service. We've eaten there three times in the last few weeks and have never been disappointed. We tried different dishes and all were very tasty. There is also a counter with a wide selection of fresh and smoked fish. We can recommend the Restaurant-Kutterfisch.

We've been here for lunch many times and it's always been delicious 😋. But three years ago we took smoked fish with us that was completely dry and therefore not fresh. This year we bought smoked plaice which were totally dried out. You have to take such goods out of the counter. I'm very disappointed about that 😞.

We ate here a few times for lunch and dinner. The food was always delicious, the kids also enjoyed it and it was nice to sit outside in the beach chairs (also works with 2 adults and 3 kids), even in rain or bad weather. I didn't rate the service because - from what we saw - everything is self-service. Order food, take the beeper with you, and then pick up the food yourself when it beeps. Prices were fair.

Delicious food for a still reasonable price.

We must have had a bad day, the pollock burger was OK, the salmon could have been glassy but that's a matter of taste, it's only stupid if the prawns listed on the menu are missing. The Rösti with salmon were a disappointment, two small Röstitaler (finished product) with some salmon on top and salad. For €18 and self-service you can expect more.

First of all, I would give this restaurant 10 ☆☆☆ because no matter when we are in Sassnitz, the Kutterfisch restaurant is a must. We are usually there as a patchwork family of between 5 and 8 people. The ambience is magical inside and out. There is a large selection of dishes and a lot that you can put together yourself. Because of the large portions, everyone has been full so far. The taste is simply outstanding. We never thought we would be disappointed at some point, as we unfortunately were on August 17th. happened. When we ordered, we were told there would be a wait of up to three quarters of an hour. It could have been due to the Sassnitz harbor festival, but you're happy to accept that if you know what awaits you on your plate. Unfortunately that wasn't the case this time. The portions were at least a quarter smaller than usual. I desperately looked for my mustard sauce, but there were only a few drops around my fried fish, which unfortunately also had a bitter aftertaste. I found my portion of mashed potatoes under the fish and consisted of a maximum of 2 tablespoons. My husband's fried potatoes were mostly very burnt. My husband was so hungry after this portion that he didn't even leave the salad garnish behind. This time we left hungry and disappointed. It could have been due to stress, but the quality simply shouldn't suffer. We hope that it was a one-off disappointment and we'll be happy to come back.

Meal on August 22nd at 5:30 p.m., the plaice was large and cheap, unfortunately prepared very soberly and carelessly without any spices. The fried potatoes were probably fried again and again from lunchtime and were an imposition and a very disinterested service staff. But you can deal with tourists like that. What a shame!

Neatly prepared fish dishes at a fair price. There's not much to complain about here. The fish is very generously portioned and well cooked. Unfortunately the fried potatoes were very greasy. But a very good remoulade sauce. I'm not a fan of the self-service concept but it's probably the only alternative to the shortage of skilled workers. The beach chair seats are very casual. I'll definitely be back.

The cod fillet with a small salad and fries for 19.50 euro was good, the portion was enough to fill you up. You just need to know that you place the order yourself and you also have to pick up the ordered drinks yourself at the place where they serve food.

We ended up here quite spontaneously after arriving and walking on the promenade. Food was very tasty and staff is friendly and helpful. You get the food yourself when your "lid" is marched across the table, which you get after you have paid. There are enough options for dogs to keep them away from people outside, so they don't have any stress. Ours was completely relaxed next to us and watched the seagulls on the edge of the harbor. The visit was worth it and you have a beautiful view of the harbor with its cutter boats.

The Kutterfisch restaurant in Sassnitz belongs to Kutter und Rügenfisch GmbH, which itself has 3 cutters for fishing. If you want to eat fresh fish at a fair price and not frozen food in overpriced restaurants on Rügen, this is the right place for you. There is something for every taste (e.g. cod, salmon, flounder), freshly fried, smoked or fresh fish ready to cook, to take away. We chose cod meatballs and flounder, both without a side dish of potatoes (starch and carbohydrates). Both meals were great and the flounders were crispy on both sides and juicy on the inside (not fried to death). There is a lovingly furnished indoor area and an outdoor area with a view of the harbor. The restaurant is self-service and you get a beeper to pick up. The division of work among the staff is very well regulated. One person takes the order and collects, a second person gives out the drinks and food. This means there are no long queues. You should still take a little time for the food because everything is freshly prepared and word has gotten around that there is still fresh fish there. This can be seen in the number of guests, but there are enough tables, inside and outside. If you want fresh fish on Rügen, then cutter fish. 👍👍👍👍👍 Every visit, always great. Nice self-service restaurant. The food was good. Can really recommend. One star was deducted because the fried potatoes were a bit oily and unfortunately there was no more fried fish at 6:30 p.m. Nevertheless, the ambience is very nice.

It's nice to sit, there's sailor music in the background, and self-service is absolutely okay. However, the food needs some improvement. My fried potatoes were very fatty, very brown and overly crispy, as was the bacon and the pan fish were rather dry - unfortunately the price-performance ratio wasn't right here. A pity. Perhaps this can be changed quickly with little effort.
