Nice restaurant, nice atmosphere. Food ok but nothing special. Service so-so...

We, my wife and I, stopped there for a break after a bike tour. The compact menu with Austrian-inspired specialties was pleasing - we chose Tafelspitz. And this Tafelspitz was very good - I can judge that as a native of Vienna, as I know the Tafelspitz from Pachulka (a top Viennese restaurant). The horseradish (= Merrechtich) sauce served with it was very good, as were the appropriately cooked vegetables. Only the dumplings could have used a little more salt (but the basic idea in the recipe was right and good). Accompanied by Vöslauer mineral water. So a really worthwhile dining experience - and in a beautifully designed inner courtyard

Today I was there for the first time with my mother and a friend who knows the location from before. A friend ordered WIENER SCHNITZEL with either potato salad, fried potatoes or fries. Ordered with fries. Meat a bit dry and hardly seasoned. For the price of 29.50 you can expect homemade fries, right? and none out of the bag that taste better even in a chip shop. I; VIENNA JUICE GOULASH with spaetzle was ok. Meat nice and soft and juicy for 25.00. My mother ordered BACKHENDL BOWL for 21.50 with potato salad, apple-cream-horseradish with toppings. When asked what kind of toppings no one came and answered the question. Looked like this; On top of a mountain of mixed leaf salad there was the baked, cut-up "Hendl", a "Händl" probably means something different, this was at most a fried chicken breast with a thick breading and unseasoned, at the bottom there should probably be the potato salad. When you got to the bottom, what was supposed to be potato salad was floating in a vinegary soup. (It tastes and looks disgusting). Potatoes diced and some half raw and hard. This dish should have had a different name. Muddled salad. Since when do you put leaf lettuce on potato salad, this can only go wrong. So, it was cleared away without asking whether the food was ok. A complaint came and the “boss” was called. He became outrageously cheeky and didn't take the complaint seriously and he made statements like blah blah blah and it was a normal potato salad and no one had ever complained! (I think everyone knows what potato salad tastes or looks like). Conclusion: served relatively quickly and food delivered in an acceptable time. If the "boss" doesn't change his behavior and takes his customers seriously and acts professionally, he can close his shop. For the money you can expect reasonably good food. Never again! Never experienced it before.

Haven't been to Altenberg Cathedral for a long time, but it's worth a visit! Ate delicious😃

Unfortunately, the apple pie doesn't deserve the name. Sweet and without apple taste - strange mouthfeel (finished filling??) and a strange tasting icing. Looked like mass-produced goods in large, square shapes! Tea water was too cold. …

The price-performance ratio is simply not right here! Ordered two of the same dishes, received two completely different quantities. The time between starter and main course: unreasonably long! No recommendation!

Very nice location with good food.

After a visit to Altenberg Cathedral, we accidentally ended up in the kitchen courtyard hungry and were not disappointed. Fast, friendly service and delicious food. Certainly rather higher price level, but also good. We'd love to come back.

The negative reviews are incomprehensible to me. We eat at Küchenhof regularly and have never been disappointed. The food tastes very good, the ingredients are fresh and the dishes are sophisticated. Special recommendations: The large salad with fried mushrooms and aioli & the lamb's lettuce with raspberries and goat cheese! The service is top! You never have to wait long here; questions are either answered immediately by the staff or quickly clarified internally. The ambience – a dream :) Beautiful inner courtyard right next to Altenberg Cathedral. Only recommended!!

The atmosphere in the kitchen courtyard is super nice. The food was good too! Unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. The staff was very unfriendly and not customer oriented, we had to wait 25 minutes for the bill. We'll be back, but we won't let this waiter serve us again.

The very last. Location nicely located. Staff hardly good day. Trout "freshly caught from the dhünn" from the assembly line without back width, deep-fried. Great boiled potatoes. First totally over salted. Then new ones were brought, they were old and streaked with white disgust. No apology in any form. Never rip off again. You're being taken for a ride, don't go there. The food is not recommended. The asparagus wasn't fresh, the potatoes weren't warmed up well and the steak was well done even though it was ordered medium rare.

It's not nice when you as a guest sit at the table for half an hour and don't get served. We made our presence known several times but there was no response. At some point you go back and just think what a restaurant.

Very good cheese spaetzle and wonderful Bavarian beer. Attentive service, nice beer garden. Unfortunately, prices have now gone up here too.

We stopped in for coffee and cake in the afternoon. Lots of young people in the service. Everyone is very friendly, the company is well organized. Coffee, Sachertorte and waffles with cherries, cream and ice cream, which were also very tasty and attractively presented. Price was right for us too. A very nice experience, different from the neighboring hotel that day.

If you like the classics like boiled beef or a potato pancake (it's not a rösti), this is the place for you. Everything homemade and delicious. Tip is the potato pancake day - very tasty and delicious with beet syrup, we'll be back.

We were here for dinner just after Christmas. The South Tyrolean ambience is tasteful and the service is attentive but a bit lackluster. The dumplings were good. You can also eat the schnitzel. Unfortunately only three out of five due to the slightly inflated prices. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We have eaten at Küchenhof several times and are always very satisfied. The map is manageable, which I see as a positive. Finally we had sauerbraten of venison and goose. Both tasted excellent. We also liked the service. The service was very friendly but not intrusive. We also like the ambience on site.

This place used to be really good when they opened. Gradually we witnessed the quality drift off. Now it's completely drifted off the scale. We had such high hopes as there are so few decent restaurants in the neighborhood. We actually met the owner in the beginning days. She had such big plans as she gave us the grand tour. I don't remember her name but she was a very nice lady from Turkey who was married to a local royal man. I am so sad to say that the restaurant has become a big disappointment. In the entrance tunnel there are swallow nests on the ceiling which at dusk make for plenty of activity, pretty cool! The potential is there. But no spirit left.

The restaurant is beautifully located and has a modern, cozy atmosphere. We were there in the evening and the restaurant was full to capacity. Reservation is therefore highly recommended. We chose a goose dish that was very tasty. The meat is wonderfully tender. The Wiener Schnitzel was also good. Despite the crowds, the service was professional. An overall successful evening...

Unfortunately, after half an hour we still hadn't been served; neither with drinks nor with a menu. Afterwards you were spoken to angrily about leaving the location. The poor service was apparently not noticed by the waitress. The restaurant, which is still full despite everything, owes its visitors to the fact that it has a monopoly position in the immediate vicinity of Altenberg Cathedral. What a shame, given the great atmosphere!

It was rather by chance that we stopped by the Küchenhof after a visit to the Altenberg fairytale forest. The modern restaurant is in a picturesque location next to Altenberg Cathedral. Apart from a grumpy greeting from a member of staff at the counter, we were served in a friendly manner. However, we had to wait almost an hour for a Viennese schnitzel with fried potatoes (€28), a Bergisch trout with parsley potatoes (€28) and braised cheeks of suckling pig with potato-mustard puree (€24), which I found it unreasonably long given the half-empty courtyard. Apart from the schnitzel, the portions were meager; Only two halved potatoes were served with the trout. We weren't impressed with the taste either: the schnitzel was okay, but the fried potatoes tasted a bit burnt and were very greasy. The pork cheeks were tender, but the "apple and leek ragout" (a few lukewarm apple slices and a few pieces of leek) didn't match the taste of the hearty dark sauce, which also covered the barely seasoned mashed potatoes. The trout was good, but because of the sparse side dish it wasn't filling. We are disappointed and will not be coming back.

Really cozy courtyard, the waffle was really tasty, but something needs to change in the service. Everyone was nice, but there seemed to be a lack of staff, we had to wait 40 minutes to pay and that was only because I ran after a waiter to draw his attention to it. While waiting, two couples even left the restaurant because they weren't served.

We stayed at the Altenbergerhof for two days and also had dinner in the Küchenhof for two days. The food was excellent and you could see the love for the product, for example in the great sauce for the suckling pig cheeks. All in all, highly recommended. The staff was also courteous and present. Thanks .

Very tasty Bergisch waffles and the cheesecake is also recommended. During a visit in the spring we had veal schnitzel during a hiking break which was fantastic. Current map is very attractive. There have recently been changing Sunday roasts on Sundays. Quality, preparation and appearance at the highest level, as well as taste. The Küchenhof is truly worth recommending and is in no way inferior to the Altenberger Hof, in my opinion even far ahead (especially when you look at the price performance). The inner courtyard invites you to spend cozy hours. The service staff is friendly. Could be a little more attentive sometimes and should try to smile more often (just a little tip 😉). Once you order, everything goes pretty quickly. In order to reorder drinks, you have to be made aware of them (feel free to ask for drinks or other requests in between). But that's not a big deal. We all have a mouth and can say something. Thank you dear Küchenhof team

Sehr gutes Essen und Bedienung. Das inzwischen moderne Ambiente muss man mögen.

Wir waren heute mit 7 Personen zum Mittagessen im Küchenhof. Es hat allen sehr gut geschmeckt, der Service war sehr freundlich und die Portionen mehr als reichlich. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Das Essen war sehr gut. Entsprechend den Erwartungen. Aber der Service konnte leider nicht mit einer Reklamation umgehen und versuchte erst einmal den Gast in die Verantwortung für das Haar in den Kartoffeln zu bringen.

Schönes historisches Gebäude . Leider sitzt man draußen auf viel Plastik, dass zerstört die Atmosphäre des schönen Gebäudes ein bisschen. Der Service besteht aus jungen Kräften. Durchaus sehr freundlich, aber ohne Kenntnisse. Der Kuchen war miserabel, der Cappuccino dürfte sich bei allem Respekt nicht so nennen. Preise u Leistung passt hier nicht ganz. Zum Essen würde ich nicht buchen. Schade. Wieder nur ein liebloser Durchschnitt. Davon gibt es schon genug. Das sind verschwendete Chancen. Kein Wunder das es so leer war.

Hatte gestern Tafelspitz der schwamm in einer Brühe mit dem ganzen Gemüse und den Kartoffeln,dann hätte ich mir gleich Suppe mit Einlage bestellen können.Dazu war es noch total versalzen.Die Kellner total unmotiviert und noch schnippig. Preis-Leistung viel zu teuer

Hier hat man ein sehr schönes Ambiente, aber das Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis stimmt leider überhaupt nicht. Die Qualität des Essens war leider nicht gut, die Preise doch recht stattlich und die Portionen sehr dürftig. Der ehemals urige Charme existiert leider nicht mehr und spiegelt sich auch nicht mehr in der Speisekarte wider. Auf den Wunsch nach Salz und Pfeffer, bekamen wir vom Kellner die Antwort: ,,Brauchen Sie nicht, das Essen ist ausreichend gewürzt."

Der Küchenhof liegt schön im Innenhof der Anlage und bietet im Sommer schöne Sitzgelegenheiten draußen. Leider ist der Service nur mittelmäßig und auch die Speisen sind durchwachsen: der bergische Fisch ist sehr gut, aber die Kartoffeln sind schlecht ausgewählt und zubereitet - schmecken mehr oder weniger roh. Die Auswahl auf der Karte ist auch recht begrenzt, was zwar nicht unbedingt schlecht ist, aber manchmal fehlt dann „das Richtige“ für den Moment. Auf jeden Fall ist dieses Lokal nun etwas ganz anderes als vor wenigen Jahren noch, wo es hier eine urige kleine Gaststätte gab.

Sehr leckeres Essen in schönem Ambiente. Wir hatten ein Wiener Schnitzel und ein Rumpsteak. Das Steak war perfekt gegrillt und das Wiener Schnitzel wie es sein muss- hauchdünn mit einer Blasen werfenden Panade. Der Salat hatte leider zu viel Sauerstoff gezogen und die Ränder waren etwas rötlich. Trotzdem war der Salat knackig. Das Dressing war sehr dezent. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.

Der Preis für 4 Stangen!! Spargel mit etwas Petersilienkartoffeln und Lachs bzw Schinken ist extrem überzogen. Der griechische Salat geht eher als Beilage durch und wenn dann auch noch Bestandteile des Salats (stehen zumindest in der Speisekarte aufgeführt) nicht serviert werden, dann war es leider unser ersten und bleibt auch unser einziger Besuch des Küchenhofs. Wir waren sicherlich nicht auf Portionsgrößen a la bayrischer Landgasthof aus, aber ein gewisser Sättigungsgrad (auch bei unseren Kindern) war irgendwie schon unsere Erwartungshaltung. Auf die zweite Tasse Schokolade für unsere Tochter würden wir wahrscheinlich jetzt noch warten. Na ja, Haken dran und sich lieber an die anderen schönen Erlebnisse rund um den Altenberger Dom erinnern.

Heute sehr gut gegessen in einem schönen Ambiente (leider Mitte Mai zu kalt für draußen). Der Service war ebenfalls vorbildlich, wir waren sechs Personen und alle waren sehr zufrieden. Wir kommen mit Sicherheit wieder.

Heute war ich begeistert diesen Ort mit meiner Familie besuchen zu können! Das Essen ist sehr sehr lecker uns optisch sehr sehr schön! Ambient war sehr angenehm und das Service war sehr nett,vielen Dank dafür und bis zum nächsten mal! Bravo!

Die Auswahl der Karte an Ostern war leider nicht sehr groß und bis auf ein Fischgericht gab es keine vegetarischen Gerichte zur Auswahl. Das Essen war in Ordnung, die Portionen waren verhältnismäßig klein. Die Bedienung war stets freundlich und zuvorkommend. Bei den hohen Preisen der Gerichte hätte etwas mehr erwartet. Gerade was die Zubereitung des Fleisches angeht.

Sympathischer Team,sehr leckeres Essen dafür bedanke ich mich,kann ich nur weiter empfehlen,die Qualität von dem Fleisch ist sehr gut! Und die Preise sind akzeptabel!!! Wir sehen uns nächstes Mal.

Ich hatte heute das Vergnügen, nach einer kleinen Wanderung zur Dhünntalsperre das Restaurant Küchenhof zu besuchen und ich muss sagen, dass ich durchaus zufrieden mit meinem Erlebnis war. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und schnell. Wir wurden sofort begrüßt und zu unserem Tisch begleitet. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und wir fühlten uns während des gesamten Aufenthalts gut betreut. Das Essen war für den Preis angemessen und lecker. Das Ambiente des Restaurants war angenehm. Die Einrichtung war schlicht, aber stilvoll. Die Atmosphäre war ruhig und man konnte sich gut unterhalten. Durchaus zu empfehlen nach einem Ausflug in der schönen Gegend.

Wir waren gestern zum Abendessen im Küchenhof. Aufgrund der teilweise mäßigen bis schlechten Bewertungen war ich zunächst eher skeptisch. Zum Glück erwies sich diese als völlig unnötig. Wir aßen als Vorspeise eine Suppe. Beide Suppen waren sehr lecker und geschmackvoll. Als Hauptspeise hatte ich das Wiener Schnitzel. Ich bin sehr anspruchsvoll, was Wiener Schnitzel angeht. Was soll ich sagen? Es war hervorragend! Sehr gutes Fleisch mit einer leckeren Panade. Meine Mutter hatte die Forelle und auch sie war von ihrem Gericht begeistert. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Der Küchenhof hat ein sehr gemütliches Ambiente, in dem man sich wohlfühlen kann. Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend und werden definitiv wiederkommen. Klare Empfehlung, besonders für Fans eines perfekten Wiener Schnitzels!

Great quality of food,superb ambient. Price is ok (not too expensive) and the quantity of the food is just right. Love the wine selection. When you come here be sure to reserve your seats,you are lucky enough if you will get a table during the peak time. In summer is much better you can just sit outside and enjoy the breeze. The personels are all friendly and helpful.

Ich war am 18.02.23 auf Empfehlung dort. Man findet dort ein schönes Ambiente, eine Speisekarte mit netter Auswahl und das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Ich habe den Appelstrudel mit Vanilleeis und Sahne bestellt und dazu einen Kaffee. Alles war sehr gut, wenn ich noch einmal in der Gegend bin werde ich bestimmt noch einmal wieder kommen, danke und weiter so…

Wir waren mit senioren auf Weihnachtsfeier ,als es dann auf Toilette ging war es Katastrophe ! Waren neumoderne Toiletten aber nichts zum Festhalten und glatte Milchglastürenund alles sehr eng Für Rollatoren !Vielleicht kann der Betreiber wenigstens Haltegriffe anbringen denn so ist es für Behinderte und Senioren nicht zu Empfehlen
