Decent food, with a wonderful location. Should be great if you go terrace and see the monastery in summer times.

It's raining. None of the tables on the terrace are dry. We ask to be seated inside and are shown the worst possible table, the one in the corridor opposite the cash register, as long as the entire room is empty and available. Zero hospitality. We'd be better off going to the Wagnerhaus!

Nice place, good salad, delicious Maultaschen (ravioli). The fish with lemon sauce was very tasty, but for €32, we missed a more absorbent side dish like potatoes, mashed potatoes, or rice. It was a bit odd eating it naked. The focaccia bread served was warm and good, but it didn't absorb the sauce!

Today I had the Klosterkatz classic, Spaghetti Scoglio. Excellent! Wonderfully al dente pasta, plenty of fresh mussels, and prawns that were neatly deveined and fried to perfection. A delight. The chef knows his craft, and the service is top-notch.

We enjoyed a delicious bruschetta. The children's portion of tortellini was absolutely reasonably priced. Friendly and fast service! Restrooms clean. Staff very friendly and fast.

I love coming back, and I'm always amazed. The combination of the historic flair right next to the monastery and the warm, stylish atmosphere in the restaurant is simply unique. You immediately feel at home, almost like you're with friends – the service is always warm, attentive, and professional. What really keeps me coming back regularly, though, is the excellent cuisine. Both the fish and meat dishes here are top-notch. A clear 5 stars – and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

We've been there several times. The food is always quite good, but the prices just don't live up to expectations. It's a shame! We live around the corner, but now we only go with visitors/tourists who want to eat at the monastery.

A very quaint restaurant, very friendly service, and in the summer, you can also sit outside in the monastery courtyard. The food was very, very tasty. Three of us went for lunch right when they opened, and it was still quite quiet, so we were served quickly. Later on, it got busier inside and outside. It would have been better if there were more staff then. Definitely recommended 😊

It was very crowded tonight. The Maulbronn Monastery concert was a big deal. The waitresses were under a lot of stress. They weren't "relaxed," but they were always friendly. I got everything perfectly.

The restaurant charged €1 for tap water, even though we had previously purchased five scoops of ice cream. There's a free public restroom 50 meters away where you can refill your drinking water. This wasn't pointed out. The ice cream was good.

Nice restaurant, unfortunately there wasn't enough staff and ordering became stressful because the waitress kept looking elsewhere. Food came quite quickly. Unfortunately, the table we reserved wasn't completely clean either. The cushions on the bench were also covered in stains. The food was normal. Nothing special, although the prices suggested otherwise. This seems to be due to the location.

You can hardly get closer to the Maultaschen original than in Maulbronn. The food was very tasty, but the price was on the threshold.

War leider eine Enttäuschung. Pizzen waren nicht schmackhaft und alle sehr spärlich belegt. Preise insgesamt sehr überteuert, auch in Anbetracht der Lage wirklich überzogen. Die vegetarischen Maultaschen auf dem Salat schmeckten leider nicht als ob sie wie auf der Karte angegeben selbst gemacht sind. Da gibt es in der näheren Umgebung wirklich weitaus bessere „Italiener“! Schade, denn die Location ist wirklich toll.

Very nice environment in which the restaurant fits in wonderfully

Unfortunately, after the change of tenant, there is no longer any recommendation: I strongly recommend checking the map and the prices first. Great location right in the monastery and the interior is nicely done and clean But: Pizza bread EUR 7.50, grilled octopus EUR 31, seafood salad as a starter EUR 21, fish from EUR 32, meat on the same level. Wine from a factor of 4 of the purchase price. Really cheeky, because the food is just okay, but really far away from the price level. Plus cooler and wooden (not necessarily unfriendly) service. Note: The vegetarian Maultaschen are definitely ready-made and difficult to eat. I recommend taking a look at the Michelin Guide online, there are various recommendations even with stars in the area - at really lower prices!!!

Super nice atmosphere. Service and friendliness of the staff leave a lot to be desired. In some cases you were even a bit speechless. Fried Maultaschen were very dry and tasteless, but the salad was very tasty.

Went to the monastery today and wanted to have a nice meal afterwards. We chose the octopus. The whole thing should cost 33 euros per person. There was also a side salad + Italian bread. In the end we had two arms on the plate. The octopus was way overcooked. You could hardly get through with a knife. The side salad consisted of green lettuce, two cucumber slices and grated carrot. The dressing was pure vinegar and way too much of it. Nothing was convincing in terms of taste. When we asked how we liked it, there was an honest answer. There was no reaction or an “oh, we’re sorry.” The price/performance ratio did not convince us. There's still cake. Maybe it's better, but we can't tell. The interior design is average, the courtyard is romantic also due to the historical buildings around it.

Today, August 17th, 2024, I was in this restaurant for the first time and I already know one thing, it wasn't the last time. I have a ritual like this: if I visit a restaurant that has lasagna al forno on the memory card, I have to eat it. Because if the lasagne is good to very good, then I can be 90% confident that everything else is great. I paid 14.90 EU for the lasagna with extra garlic and it was worth every cent. Excellent sauce, the right amount of cheese, the pasta plates on point. During the 15 minutes of waiting, I of course also looked around at the tables of the other guests and what I saw was simply delicious. Salads, pizza, Maultaschen, fish, etc. And you could see that people enjoyed it. The service was very nice and helpful, I got the lasagne to take away and received it in an aluminum tray, maybe maybe maybe that could be changed and brought to my location in a paper bag. Unfortunately the entrance door has a step so you need someone to help with a wheelchair, but the outside area is easy to navigate with a wheelchair. The Language Barrier creates problems in making yourself understood...😅 but otherwise we had pizzas and frankly they were very good 👍🏻🤤 And what's more we were able to buy their excellent Maulbronner beer!!🍻

The place itself is a house number. Mastering the balancing act between tourist catering and a restaurant is not easy. So it was okay

Wir hatten eine Reservierung mit 6 Personen zu einem Geburtstags-Mittagsessen. Die Karte bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas an. Leider gibt es zu allen Gerichten als Beilage Pizzabrot, was zu den wenigsten Gerichten wirklich passt. Egal ob zum Zwiebelrostbraten oder zum Zanderfilet. Die zusätzlich wählbare Beilagenauswahl ist sehr begrenzt und extrem teuer. Da zu einem Zwiebelrostbraten, welcher nur mit Salat und Pizzabrot angeboten wird, bei aller Liebe keine Pizzabrot passt, bestellten wir Rosmarinkartoffeln. Ob die wirklich dazu passen sei dahingestellt. Das war aber die einzig annähernd passende Beilage dazu. Bei der Bestellung des Rostbratens von über 30€ wurde übrigens nicht gefragt in welcher Garstufe man diesen gerne geniessen möchte. Die Rosmarinkartoffeln, welche mit fast 10 € extra berechnet werden, bestehen aus TK-Kartoffelscheiben aus dem Großmarkt, welche durch die Friteuse gezogen wurden. Darüber gestreut ein paar vereinzelte Rosmarinnadeln. Der Beilagensalat war gut gemischt, aber leider nicht sonderlich gut angemacht. Maulbronn ist bekannt für die Erfindung der Maultaschen, welche hier auch in verschiedenen Varianten angeboten werden. Man da dann auch eine gewisse Erwartungshaltung. Klassische Maultaschen mit Bratensoße und Kartoffelsalat werden zu fast 20€ angeboten. Serviert werden inkl. Beilagensalat und Pizzabrot (?!) 3 gerollte Maultaschen, welche okay waren, ein kleinen Kännchen Bratensoße, auch okay und maximal 2 gehäufte Esslöffel Kartoffelsalat, welcher schön flach gedrückt wird, dass es nach mehr aussieht. Die Krönung allerdings ist, dass es sich um fertigen Kartoffelsalat aus dem Eimer handelt. Das ist wirklich ein Frechheit und eine Schande. Gehobene Preise lassen auch gute Qualität erwarten. Wir waren gerne bereit für entsprechende Qualität dementsprechend zu zahlen, da wir wissen, dass die Preise, Energiepreise und Mwst, sowie Personalkosten gestiegen sind, aber das hier schreit nach Touristenabzocke. Die Dame, die uns bedient hat, war freundlich und hat uns schnell bedient. Leider können wir das Restaurant nicht weiter empfehlen.

A must when visiting Maulbronn Monastery!

Simple beer garden, nice staff, simple but good food, Maultaschen and tarte flambée, fresh draft beer, ideal for a cycling break.

Food was nothing special now. It was ok. The portion is ok, but if you're hungry, not everyone will be full. Price-performance doesn't fit in my opinion. Service was pretty slow at first, but got better. We sat outside, it was nice.

We have been here many times and enjoyed it too. Today was a special evening and we were very happy. The service was, as always, very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately our meat was very salty and so was the sauce from the second dish. The response to the complaint was rather sparing and "cautious". Which in itself is an indictment. At some point someone came and the only question was what should we do with the meat? We were then offered that the tomato soup we had ordered as a replacement would not be booked and that we could each get an affogato. The cook was of the opinion that the meat was not oversalted. The waitress tried to get another employee to book out the meat for €33.50 because we didn't end up eating it. All that was made was the succinct comment that the chef was in love and that something like that could happen before. I was actually at a loss for words and I especially felt sorry for the waitress, who was the only one who apologized and tried to resolve the situation in the guest's best interests. We are aware that the restaurant, due to its prominent location, does not rely on the two of us, but it is really telling how we were treated. We were definitely there for the last time. It's a shame actually... P.S. The salt is more than clearly visible...

Perhaps we could have said something about the quality of the food if someone had agreed to serve us. In any case, we were seen. There it was again, the service desert of Germany.

Apparently they don't value serving guests here. We were registered upon arrival, and ignored from then on. No regrets (“Wait a minute, someone’s coming soon”), nothing. In hindsight, no loss. Watching the people sitting next to you eat has caused back pain because the outdoor chairs are far too low for the tables. Naturally, there's nothing left to report about the food, and we definitely won't find out.

An extensive menu with pasta, pizza and Italian cuisine (fish, meat), but also various versions of Maultaschen. Attractive selection of wines, courteous service. We spent a very nice evening there!

The Klosterkatz restaurant also sells delicious open 🍨 ice cream as a street sale. Unfortunately, on sunny days you have to queue for a long time. Cashless payment would noticeably speed up the process and optimize it hygienically. You can no longer understand this complicated process once you have seen how quickly ice cream sales can take place abroad. Absolutely out of date.

The location is in the monastery courtyard, very nice ambience...We were here to eat pizza, pizzas are nothing special, you can get better elsewhere in town...the service wasn't attentive at all, which is why we sat in front of an empty glass for a good 20 minutes. ..not a bon appetit or a treat, but a “have fun” for dessert??? The prices adapt to the ambience. Unfortunately not recommended

Die Bedienung war etwas langsam. Qualität der Speisen gut. Alles sehr überteuert. Z.B kleiner Beilagensalat 9,80 obwohl in der Speisekarte stand alle Salate mit Pizzabrot wurde das Brot nicht gereicht.

First the good, the bruschetta is great. BUT: The service is a disaster...! Employees walk past the table many times with empty hands... Some tables are full of empty glasses, then another person walks past with an (!) empty cup... Guests shorten the unbelievable waiting times by carrying dishes in from outside themselves, what a wonder a disorganized mess. Then a lady from the service complains that the prepared drinks are standing there, the stuff sometimes sits around for five minutes or longer, the service people walk past it empty-handed... You're just making things difficult for yourself here.

Bad, microwaved food. The only thing that was convincing was the potato salad. The meal of the day (dumplings with artichokes) was also not convincing. You had to look for the artichokes. The bruschetta was drowned in olive oil. It's a shame, we've eaten much better here.

We came here for coffee. Coffee and cake were super delicious. The staff was very friendly. Very nice atmosphere.
