We had a very good meal there. We actually wanted to go to a restaurant serving regional dishes. Three restaurants only accepted reservations. We were happy to get a table at the Athens restaurant. The service and food were very good. They also have good kids' menus. The portions are all generous.

Buying a car like this certainly works up an appetite. So, off to Athens. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance. Although it was very busy, we managed to find a spot. The staff is friendly and attentive. Our order was taken quickly, and then we were served an ouzo. But only the cheap one (38% is the minimum requirement for an ouzo) from a discount store. It was free, though. We had one Olympia, one Apollon, one wheat beer, and one water. For a total of €47.80. The price is okay. The gyros, lamb chop, fries, and rice were all okay. The souvlaki skewer was very dry. And the homemade coleslaw was unfortunately drowned in dressing. What the orange and apple slices were doing on the plate remains a mystery. Conclusion: recommended

Yes, it really is very good here. The food is delicious. Today we went hiking in the heath, about 14 km, all day. But the grilled meat was much too big. We took the rest with us and will eat it tomorrow.

I definitely recommend the restaurant

Four of us went there on the Saturday of the Heather Blossom Festival without a reservation. We received a polite welcome and were served quickly and friendly. The restaurant was packed inside and out. The food arrived quickly and hot. The value for money was excellent! All the staff were cheerful and attentive. We would gladly return.

Friendly staff, very good food – everything fresh! Tender meat, fresh vegetables, and crispy fries. Despite the restaurant being full, we received our drinks and food quickly. The value for money is excellent and we can wholeheartedly recommend it.

We enjoy Greek food often, but never as good as here. One dish came with bread, which was baked fresh especially for us. The restaurant and the restrooms were perfectly clean, and the service was simply super friendly. Since neither of us drink alcohol and thus declined the obligatory ouzo, the chef actually handed me a plate with a few slices of watermelon instead. In summary, the best Greek restaurant we've visited to date. We'll definitely eat there again on our next visit to Schneverdingen.

We (my father, my two children, ages 9 and 10, and I) have never eaten such bad Greek food. I really love eating out and eat a lot, and I know quite a few Greek restaurants throughout Germany. The gyro was more like a turkey kebab, and the beef liver was so dry. The "fried potatoes" were over-fried, bland potato slices that tasted of nothing. Yes, the service was friendly, but since we were outside, unfortunately, they weren't there anymore, and I had to go inside to pay. At least the restrooms were clean.

We have known the Athen restaurant for years and have been impressed after every visit! There have never been any complaints and we have always gone home completely satisfied. Our last visit on June 7th, 2025 was all the more disappointing. Shortly before 2:00 p.m. we wanted to order two more beers. This was not possible. The waiter came and said he would bring us the bill as the restaurant closes at 2:00 p.m. Well, we were not prepared for the changed and shortened opening hours. Our mistake! We are used to there always being a waiting time, no matter which restaurant we visit. But it is always the sound that makes the music and we are not used to that at all in Athen. We were there with a visitor and he then said to us "The first and last time he has been to Athen! What a shame!!! Hence two stars deducted for the service!

We were just there at 8:10 p.m. and were assigned a table. When the waitress came to take our order, she immediately asked if we'd finished eating by 9 p.m. and were ready to call it a night? What kind of behavior is that? You're supposed to wolf down your food... cheeky.

Very hospitable restaurant! The food is delicious and always tasty. Ouzo is a must, of course. Around Christmas time, they even had kale dishes!!! We visit the restaurant every Thursday and have never been disappointed!! A big thank you to the very friendly service staff! Great: the chef always comes to the table to ask if everything is okay! We were at Restaurant Athen for the first time today. We were more than thrilled. The food was incredibly delicious, the portions were almost impossible to finish. Even the biggest man would be satisfied. We highly recommend the fried potato slices as a side dish. The meat was very tender. We have no complaints. Excellent service and ambiance. We will definitely be back again.

Very friendly staff, delicious Greek food at fair prices. The restaurant is always busy, which is a sign of quality and speaks for itself. There are usually free seats during the week, but I recommend making a reservation on weekends during the season.

Greek gastronomy can be found everywhere. But you won't find a great restaurant like this everywhere you look. Clean, friendly, great ambience, best quality food, superbly prepared… A dream. Keep it up!

The service is quick and friendly and the staff is very attentive. The food is mostly good, but on the last visit the fries were unfortunately a little borderline salty and the gyros weren't really grilled nicely brown. The food came very quickly, even too quickly for a guest at the neighboring table, who also complained about it. The starter or salad had not yet been eaten when the main course was already served. Fast operation is nice, but too fast is also a bit uncomfortable. You feel pressured and have the feeling that you have to eat quickly to make room for new visitors. But we would still like to come back, there are good and not so good days in life.

Typical Greek cuisine with a good selection and quality. You have the option to sit outside. The staff is friendly. You are often offered ouzo (on the house). I would have liked a little more time between the starter and the main course.

The best Greek far and wide. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The portions are definitely filling and very tasty. The good thing is that there are also smaller portions, none of which has to go back into the kitchen. The ambience is attractively bright and cozy. Completely to my taste

Good portions and friendly service

We were there with the Essen company and were served delicious plates. The service was great and we also had 1, 2 or 4 ouzos in between without being asked 😉 There was enough sauce, which in my opinion is ALWAYS too little in restaurants. The toilets were clean. Unfortunately there is not a wheelchair accessible entrance, if I'm not mistaken. I can't comment on parking spaces because it was the Heath Blossom Festival and the vehicles were parked at the company. We were all fed up and had a great evening.

I ate lunch here today at 12 o'clock sharp. I ordered gyros with metaxa sauce from the lunch menu, the food was ready within 10 minutes of ordering, the cooked food was warmed up in the microwave, it tasted old, 14 EUR, the food was way too expensive for the poor quality, imbis quality never again

Unfortunately the food didn't meet my taste. Some of the gyros were still very reddish and had a lot of fat. The small beer was not filled to the calibration mark (I also waited until the foam was gone). Thumbs up for the ouzo in advance.

We were there with about 20 people. I was told in advance that the portions should be very good. But I was disappointed. The fries only barely covered the plate. I and other colleagues also had gyros with champions and onions. We got a lot of onions, some mushrooms and 4 to 5 pieces of gyros, although for me the gyros were partly squishy and very fatty.👎(I didn't get full) The side salad was also very dismal, every canteen does better. The tzatziki was ok. Table service wasn't great either, there wasn't much going on yet, and we had to constantly point out that all the drinks were empty and we were still thirsty. And why is the Greek, who really isn't, offering kale? Not traditional Greek cuisine for me. It's a shame but me and some colleagues won't be coming back here. Very unfortunate

We ordered bifteki, the minced meat was some kind of molded meat, it could have been the sole of a shoe! The sheep's cheese was completely missing, you have to order it separately!!! It doesn't work at all. Luckily there are still Greek restaurants where the food is served the way it should be... .

We were on vacation near here last year and came here to eat twice because it was just so good. Great atmosphere, absolutely friendly staff and incredibly delicious food. I can really recommend everyone to take a look here.

The food was very tasty. It was served quickly. It was a little too fast. You hadn't even eaten 1/4 of the starter and salad so you could eat the main course. Had a bit of an assembly line charm.

The salt content of some dishes was at the threshold of pain. In my opinion, the lamb fillet was of poor quality. The one time something went wrong, but all three? With a price of almost 30 euros for the main course, I would have liked at least a small concession, after all, 2.5 fillets were returned. This was our last visit to this restaurant. Nevertheless, nice and attentive service and a very appealing atmosphere. There is no skimping on ouzo and the salads, the gyros and the bifteki were also good. The suflaki was okay, but the pork steak was probably still on the grill from lunch.

We were there for dinner and were very pleasantly surprised when we entered the restaurant. A manageable dining room and a high number of friendly and courteous servers. We were escorted to the reserved spot, promptly provided with drinks and, after an absolutely reasonable amount of time, served with delicious and freshly prepared food. We would visit this restaurant again at any time as we felt very comfortable in every respect.
