Restaurant Hellas in Duisburg

Hellas is a restaurant my family and I have been visiting for many years, even back when it was under the previous owner. We always feel very comfortable and welcome there. The food is delicious and filling. It's also a special place for my wife and me because we went there after our wedding at the town hall in 2015. That's why Hellas will always be on our shortlist when we're deciding where to eat.

The food is okay. But the service is unfortunately terrible. As a guest, you're just a blur.

The food is excellent, the quality of the meat is superb, and it's typical Greek fare. The portions are large, so you can easily take leftovers home. The service is very good!

Full of anticipation based on some recommendations, we went there in a good mood and hungry. What a disappointment! The portions were small, and the salad was a joke. One olive, one pepperoni, a bit of green salad, a hint of carrot, and a cocktail sauce. I had a mixed grill for €25. It included a beef fillet, a chicken fillet, a veal fillet, and a lamb chop, along with potato chips. The lamb chop was a joke; I'd never seen such a small piece before. The other pieces were also quite small. The potato chips were relatively hard and didn't taste fresh. The meat was also just so-so. All in all, a complete disappointment for the price. I won't be eating there again.

Last Friday, the two of us had dinner at Hellas (Poststraße 28, Duisburg-Altstadt). The ambiance is pleasantly cozy, and we received a very friendly welcome. The cold appetizers like saganaki and tzatziki were fresh and aromatic – a real treat. The gyros (classic and baked) came with salad and homemade potato chips, very tasty. The prices are fair, and the value for money is impressive. All in all, a highly recommended Greek restaurant – especially if you like freshly prepared appetizers and a relaxed atmosphere!

One of the best experiences of Greek food outside Greece. Do not expect fancy or modern Greek cuisine but be sure that the quality of the food is top level. We tried the lamp chops which were perfectly grilled and extremely tender.

Tip: If you want to eat at Hellas, you should definitely reserve a table in advance! The restaurant is busy and rightly so. We'd love to come back.

Went here with the family for a birthday dinner. Portions and taste beyond any doubt. Unfortunately the onion soup was only lukewarm. But the sliced ​​cheese was more than irritating.

Without a reservation, we were asked to wait until the designated table became available. After waiting 30 minutes, our assigned table was given to guests who came in after us. We are now enjoying an excellent grill dish elsewhere in Duisburg. So Hellas never again!

I always look forward to eating there again, no matter what you order from the menu you will never be disappointed. A big compliment to the kitchen and the great service.

Wir gingen hier nach dem Weihnachtsmarktbesuch vorbei, um etwas Herzhaftes zu essen. Die einrichtung ist angenehm hell, der Service war aufmerksam. Das Essen - insbesondere das Gyrosfleisch - war sehr gut. Einer der besseren Griechen.

My wife and sister and Schwaager came from Essen and were in Duisburg to stroll around the Christmas market, then we stopped at the Hellas restaurant, on Saturday around 6:30 p.m., and even got a table for about 2 hours. Available, top👍. The food and the portions are more than enough, whether Bifteki, Sovlaki, everything in XL version, delicious, 😋. The staff was very, very nice and polite, even though the restaurant was more than full, a big compliment to the crew and the kitchen team👍👍. We'll be back. A.Heinisch and family

Centrally located restaurant with a large menu - the food was very tasty overall - I thought it was a shame that tzatziki had to be ordered separately and was not included on the grill plates. What was bad, however, was that no bread was served with the specially ordered Zazki or with the side salad previously served - A free ouzo rounded off the evening, but the price was still in the Champions League

Every dish impresses with authentic flavors, from the fresh, spicy tzatziki to the perfectly grilled lamb and seafood. The moussaka was rich and savory, and the galaktobureko was the perfect balance of sweet and crunchy.

My daughter invited me and my other daughter to dinner and I can say we were not disappointed. Opposite the restaurant there is a large parking lot for which you should also take 50 cent pieces. The service is nice and friendly and the order was placed quickly. We didn't have to wait long for the food, but there weren't that many guests because we were there relatively early at 5:30 p.m. The food was really great. It can not be said otherwise. We had salmon, turkey fillet, gyros and veal liver with potato chips. We were all completely satisfied.

I was there just after 5 p.m. What struck me as very positive was that the guest toilet was very clean. But I think shortly after opening at 5 p.m. that shouldn't be a problem. I ordered number 70, which is pork fillet with salad and some kind of roasted potatoes. The meat and potatoes were very tasty and you can't complain about that. But there was something I didn't like at all. I got salad, some of it was from a jar (carrots). I don't think that's right given the price of 21.90 euros.

Unfortunately, like all Greek restaurants, this one is not vegetarian-friendly. There are no real dishes without meat. The service was also quite good.
