Everything was perfect here! We were at your restaurant yesterday to round off our family vacation – two adults and two children, ages 3 and 5. The service was fantastic, friendly, and attentive despite the restaurant being packed. Our food arrived incredibly fast! The price was absolutely right, as the portions were huge! Everyone was happy. If we're ever back at the North Sea, we'll definitely stop at your restaurant again! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

We dined there as a couple on November 9th and 11th, 2025. We can only say one thing... completely satisfied. I have rarely eaten such well-prepared fish. The Varel fish platter was divine. Absolutely and without reservation recommended... highly recommended!!! When we come back to Varel, HAFENBLICK will be our first choice.

A lovely restaurant overlooking Varel harbor with a charming, rustic interior. The menu features meat and fish dishes. The food is decent, but not exceptional. The excellent and friendly service, however, is a definite highlight.

I can understand the discussion about a Wiener Schnitzel for over €24. But fortunately, there are still some reasonably priced exceptions. This exception can be found at the Hafenblick restaurant, and it's incredibly delicious. You get two schnitzels, and they come in a variety of variations. The photo shows a Braumeister schnitzel. Braised onions are hidden under the two fried eggs. The pear with blueberries was part of our daughter's schnitzel. The schnitzels are served with croquettes or other potato dishes. That's a lot of delicious food for a good price. Highly recommended! If you're craving meat or just want to eat well, this is the place for you.

We've rarely eaten so well in a restaurant! Great traditional coastal food, fresh fish without any fuss, beautifully presented with delicious side dishes. Those who don't like fish can order meat or vegetarian options. Even the little ones are catered for. The service is friendly and humorous, and the kitchen staff works quickly and carefully. We didn't know it was a good idea to make a reservation in advance, but we were lucky to be offered a round table for two, very high with high bar stools. Right next to the counter by the window and the heater, as a last resort. When a table became available, we politely declined. The view of the harbor from our table was too beautiful, the warmth of the heater too cozy, the high stools too comfortable. My wife and I agree that we will try many more dishes from the menu there. We'd gladly award it an additional 6th star!

Great food at reasonable prices, a good selection, even for vegetarians, and very friendly staff! The ambiance is rather dignified, and the furniture is very dated. The noise level is sometimes unpleasant, as are the closely spaced tables.

Unfortunately, the fish was overcooked and dry. The salad was delicious, and the fried potatoes were unfortunately unseasoned. We'll be back anyway.

We came on the recommendation of our vacation rental owner and were certainly not disappointed. The staff is super friendly, and the food is more than filling. We can't complain and even ate there again the next evening. Very, very tasty. If we're in the area again, we'll be back.

I was very disappointed. We wanted to celebrate our 35th anniversary on Friday. With good German food and a nice table for two where we could even have a conversation. We got a small table at a 10-person table right in front of the Schiethus and behind a bar in a pub. The staff banged their bottles so loudly that you couldn't hear your own voice. The waiter, who first explained to us in a confusing way that we had to leave at 6:30 p.m., didn't even want to clear away the excess cutlery at the head of the table because the next people were arriving at 6:30 p.m., which would be an hour and a half away. Apparently, that's too much work in his culture. My wife ordered salmon with grilled vegetables, and it was also very good. A nice large salmon fillet, not the usual mini-piece. I was looking forward to a nice schnitzel with crispy fried potatoes and was very disappointed. I got two thick shoe soles that were so dry I couldn't get them down my throat without rinsing. It wasn't a nicely pounded topside, but cheap pork loin like you'd get from a caterer. It was also fried to death. The fried potatoes were lukewarm and soggy. I'm guessing they were pre-peeled from a water bag. A little tip: Better to get a schnitzel from the topside, pounded nice and thin like the Viennese do, and small baby potatoes in their skins rather than fried potatoes from a bag. If you want to eat fish and can get a table outside or to the left of the entrance, this is probably the place to go. The rest is disappointing.... It's really questionable that so many people are against this 5-star rating. It's either fake, or many of them have lost track of good food and are now fans of chip shops or kebab shops...

Absolutely top-notch quality Would definitely go back

The food is okay, but the service is definitely mediocre in terms of friendliness. Since waiters also live off tips, some training would be appropriate.

At Hafenblick, you can enjoy excellent schnitzel or fish. In summer, you can sit outside right by the harbor. The starter was crab soup, highly recommended. The Ratsherrenschnitzel was also a bit dry, though, as it lacked sauce. Card payments are accepted here.

I ate the best fried fish ever here – perfectly crispy, super fresh, and served with a remoulade that was definitely homemade and simply unbelievably delicious. I've tried other dishes a while back and have never been disappointed. The quality is consistently excellent, the food is prepared with love, and you can immediately tell the difference. Add to that the ambiance, which makes you feel like you're sitting right in a captain's home – cozy, maritime, and simply unique. An absolute recommendation – whether for tourists or locals!

It was very tasty. The best crab soup I've ever eaten. The fish was super delicious. My husband chose beef roulades, which were very good. Best wishes from Dortmund. We'll definitely be back.

Top, very friendly, attentive service, good food.

During our short vacation in Varel, we spontaneously ended up at Yousuff's with friends and felt welcome from the very first second. Seeing someone with so much fun, thoughtfulness, and love at work made our stay even more enjoyable. The stunning location with a sunset over the harbor, the delicious food, great wine pairing, and the atmosphere were simply magnificent. Even the head chef made an appearance at the tables and, despite the stress, engaged in relaxed, friendly small talk. Thank you for this wonderful, short, intense time—we'd love to come back anytime 🤗

During our North Sea vacation, we spent a day at Hafenblick and went out for dinner spontaneously/without a reservation in rainy weather, which wasn't a problem as there were free tables available. The service was exceptionally attentive and very friendly. The menu offers something for everyone, but the fish dishes particularly stood out. Many dishes are available in small portions. We all enjoyed the food very much; the portions are generous with a side salad. I can't confirm what my previous reviewers wrote about too few or bad fried potatoes. Everything was perfect for us. All in all, it was a very nice and tasty restaurant visit! We'll definitely be back at Hafenblick on our next visit to Varel, thank you very much! From us, Tip Top 👍👍👍👍👍

One of the few restaurants at Varel Harbor that's open for lunch. Attentive, friendly service, who even made a table available because there were no reservations. It was busy, so reservations are advisable. The food tasted okay and was good value for money. The dill sauce was a bit mushy and had already set by the time it arrived.

The food wasn't good. Poorly seasoned. Without any side dishes, they charged full price. The schnitzel was a ready-made dish. Dry, with no proper breading. It probably wasn't pan-fried or deep-fried either. We won't be going back.

You can enjoy a good meal here with a view of Varl Harbor. Good, home-style cooking with huge portions. We had to pack the leftovers. We come here every year for dinner on vacation and have never regretted it. Keep up the good work.

We always enjoy the Hafenblick restaurant. They serve very authentic North German cuisine with many fish variations and a large selection of schnitzel dishes. Soups, salads, and children's dishes are also part of the menu. They also serve delicious, homemade beer, which beer drinkers should definitely try. I like it much better than Jever or Becks. It's a shame they don't offer the beer in bottles to take away. 😉 I would also like to express my great respect and praise for the service and kitchen team! What you achieved on a Sunday in a packed restaurant with an outdoor area is truly amazing! We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

A truly great place. The ambiance is inviting. Guests sit at the counter or tables and devour what are probably the most delicious dishes I've had in a long time. The fish is sooooo delicious. And the service, even though it was packed, was warm and friendly. As a restaurateur, watching the team was a highlight. Hats off!

A great, authentic fish restaurant right behind the dike. Definitely an insider tip, and it will remain so for a long time, as it's far from everything. The fish dishes are all freshly prepared, the portions are generous, the beer is cold, and the wine is inexpensive. And the interior and view are beautiful, too. So, it's a perfect fit. And Siri still doesn't speak German, but I'm lazy.

When I go to the North Sea, I eat Labskaus whenever I can. However, the search for appropriate offers is becoming more and more complex. I found what I was looking for here and the card also makes a traditional impression. Everything is right here: very friendly staff, quick cuisine, tasty and filling dishes and overall a good price/performance ratio. Also worth highlighting is the great outdoor dining on both sides of the quiet street that runs past the harbor. 'Hafenblick' doesn't get any better than this.

Overall, a great restaurant and highly recommended. Unfortunately, after my 84-year-old father-in-law paid, the waitress complained in an extremely arrogant manner about what she considered to be too little of a tip. Anyone who has done extreme physical labor for 45 years and now lives on a pension of 1200 euros doesn't need to listen to something like that. As already written, the food was absolutely top.

Convinced repeatedly: Restaurant Hafenblick in Fahreler Hafen We visited the Hafenblick restaurant in the Varel harbor again - this time in the early afternoon, and even without a reservation we easily got a table. However, it is still early season. Reservations are strongly recommended during the season. The restaurant offers a wide selection of dishes. The seating and tables are simple but clean, and there are several guest rooms. Particularly noteworthy is the extensive menu with a variety of different dishes - the fish dishes in particular are highly recommended, as are the schnitzels, which taste excellent. The portions are generous. The Esmeralda schnitzel pictured, for example, is a senior plate that is offered at a lower price - and is still more than sufficient. The ordering went quickly, as did the preparation of the food. The service was friendly. The ambience is simple but well-kept. If you don't expect high comfort, but just want to eat really good and plentiful food, this is the place for you. Conclusion: A clear recommendation for hungry guests with an appetite for honest, rich cuisine - but you should definitely reserve in advance, especially during the season.

After two days and repeated calls, I was finally able to reserve a table. To date there has been no response to the two emails. The order came quickly and the waiting time was reasonable. No further orders for drinks were placed, despite multiple attempts, no one took care of us. After the dessert menu was finally handed out, no one came to order. The request to pay was not heard either, so we then went to the checkout ourselves. At this point the restaurant was only half full and the service staff were not overworked but were just joking around in the anteroom. We were told that the boss was on vacation and that we had to understand that there was a lot to do, and that we weren't allowed to call during rush hour because the phone would be ignored. We then enjoyed drinks and dessert elsewhere.

We ate here for the first time today. The food was super tasty and there was a lot of it and the price was absolutely unbeatable. The service was very friendly and attentive. Absolutely recommended.

We were there for a celebration. Nice, rustic atmosphere - when I read here that it is described as outdated or old-fashioned - people, this is Friesland and it belongs here too, otherwise go to Sylt. About the food: the wedding soup was very disappointing. I would describe it as racing driver soup with little cornering. Broth with hardly any (frozen?) celery and carrots, no noodles, little egg custard and ready-made dumplings - no one needs it, unless they have the flu. The salad was good, the fried potatoes would have liked to have warmed up longer in the pan, the sauces were good, the schnitzel was delicious, and some of the fish had been pulled through the egg so that it arrived on the plates stuck together like scrambled eggs. Certainly due to the crowds in the place, but not that great visually or in terms of taste. Simply fried in flour and clarified butter would have been tastier. Conclusion: don't pack your restaurant so terribly full, especially during celebrations, and pay more attention to details. It was a bit like just feeding. The service was still good and friendly - but glasses could have been cleared away. If you would treat yourself to a little more quality instead of quantity, it would probably be a really great restaurant! But we will definitely come and try the a la carte again.

We had dinner there today. The restaurant seems to be very popular in general, but we were lucky and got a table for two people. The service was prompt, attentive and very polite. We both ate the panfish with fried potatoes, mustard sauce and salad, served in the pan. It was absolutely great, the fish was great, the sauce was absolutely great and not too mustardy, the fried potatoes were prepared optimally and tastefully with onions and bacon. Full 5 stars and absolute recommendation!
