Our regular restaurant when we are on vacation in Varel. The staff is super friendly, very attentive and prompt. The food tastes very tasty and the prices are reasonable. The ambience is harmonious and fits the harbor perfectly. Top!

Super delicious food, nice staff

The two of us were there spontaneously with our dog and got a table in the very well-filled restaurant even without a reservation. Service was very friendly and competent. Menu very extensive and felt a bit overloaded for us, wine selection ok, we are in the north there is only Jever. So crab soup for us as well as fried fish with fries and three kinds of herring with fried potatoes. Drinks came promptly, as did the soup, nicely combined with a good taste of crustaceans as a base (crab butter, also matched the color), nice insert, really tasty, for us we could do without the dried dill as a decoration. The main course came straight after, tasted perfect and delicious. The way it's served isn't entirely up to date, but it's a matter of visual taste. Conclusion: good, down-to-earth, honest cuisine at a good price-performance ratio

The small restaurant is somewhat "hidden" - away from through traffic. The “detour” there is definitely worth it. The food is very inexpensive and tastes very good.

Absolute recommendation!! We spontaneously came to this restaurant from out of town after a recommendation and were thrilled. We were able to sit outside in fantastic weather and were thrilled with the food, the service and the menu. There were special schnitzel variants that I have never found before and a great selection of fish. Both the schnitzel dishes and the fish dishes were top. If it wasn't so far, we would come back very soon. :)

Unfortunately, this restaurant has become an exception. We were there at prime time without a reservation and were shown to a table in an extremely friendly manner. The food was very tasty. What particularly stood out: the attentiveness and friendliness of the employees. We were really impressed.

Six of us had lunch. The service was quick, helpful and friendly. The food and drinks came quickly and the portions were still very large despite being on a senior plate. The food was delicious and the price-performance ratio was more than correct.

The food was very good except for one thing. I had a metaxa schnitzel which was very tasty, true, but the metaxa sauce that was served with it didn't taste like a metaxa sauce at all, unfortunately if there was any metaxa in it, true unfortunately the metaxa sauce was very bad

Fish dinner on Good Friday. The restaurant was full. The crew had been up since midday. Although the tables inside and outside were all occupied, the service was exceptional. Friendly, smiling and quick. There was no stress. Our fish dishes came beautifully prepared and hot to the table. Salad, fried potatoes and fish were excellent. A big thank you to the service and the kitchen crew. Keep it up.

We liked the food (schnitzel), the portions are huge. It was quite loud in the restaurant and the waiting time was rather long (until the menu, drinks and food arrived). However, it was also quite full in the restaurant. Prices completely okay. We'll definitely come back again.

We were there today for the first and last time. The waitress seemed very annoyed and was afraid that she would step on her own chin. Maybe it was because we “just” drank something. That's why we didn't tip. There is one star for the view of the harbor.

Wedding soup very tasty... definitely make a reservation, it's always full! Update July: Now so full that you have to wait for everything and everyone seems stressed. Trigger for operation without any eye contact. You can also be friendly if you don't like the way your guests look!

Service largely on point despite the very full restaurant. 7/26/24: Unfortunately, I have to revise my opinion: The food came almost 1.5 hours after the table was reserved. The two young men reacted angrily to the complaint. First they brought the wrong food, then they thought the fried potatoes we had ordered 1.5 hours earlier weren't available. The fish in one dish was dry. I understand that it was probably the last service of a full hectic day. But when the legitimate criticism was answered, he couldn't do anything about it, and after all they had sent 240 people away, whether we had even made reservations and in what name (what is the point of this question???) and he was interested in the criticism not, we couldn't think of anything else. Then the tall, blonde young woman was sent and brought fried potatoes. When she complained about the two boys, she replied that there was nothing she could do about them behaving like that, there was no reason to be angry with her. When I asked to speak to the boss, I was told that they were no longer there (yes, yes, when the cat was out of the house...). The woman who was then sent to serve as a waitress at least brought new, well-fried fish and didn't have any more stupid sayings in store. It's no fun eating angry and looking around to see if the "hidden camera" team might be waiting somewhere. We were "generously" offered an espresso, which we didn't want because it was now 10 p.m. And then there was a “generous” 6 euros (just over 10% discount) on the bill. Let's hope this was an exception due to stress. And I'm curious to see whether the absent boss will contact me with an apology for the staff and an appropriate voucher...

Super nice and very friendly service, were there half an hour before opening and were not sent away. We were immediately provided with drinks and our little dog with a huge pot of water :-) Food was delicious!!!! Nice view and cozy. Again and again!!!!

A great restaurant, friendly and attentive service, friendly and nice. I had salmon with pasta (see picture). The fish was super tasty, well fried and seasoned. There was a lack of salt on the noodles but that's a matter of taste. We are very satisfied!

If you want classic fish dishes, this is a great place to go. We went there for dinner for the first time yesterday and will go there again. A must in Varel. We had a small problem with the food, but it was solved brilliantly and therefore it will not be remembered negatively. We can only recommend the restaurant. 4 stars because the method of preparation could be a little better and the ambience could be improved. Still a clear recommendation 👏👏😉👏

As a former restaurateur, hotelier, manager and trainer, you naturally look particularly critically. Already mentioned in advance, there is nothing critical here, we were/are completely thrilled. Absolutely tasty food of convincing quality and presentation paired with incredibly nice, forward-looking, practical and friendly service! Wow, that was delicious. Ordered children's food (the names are like sugar, please!) and there was actually no starter salad - the child looks sad, but is very happy to get a salad as an exception! (How nice that you like to eat salad - you'll definitely get your scoop of ice cream after your meal) The teenage child breathes in a grown-up schnitzel and looks shyly sad because the little sibling is asked about the type of ice cream. Mom asks - oh, you're still 13? Well then, of course, you get a bullet for once. I love it when everyone at the table is noticed and taken seriously with such small touches. A great restaurant at first glance. On the second one, however, not so much. Went there for the first time and were turned away because there were no seats available. Well, okay. Reserved a table by email and looked forward to it after confirmation. Suddenly there were no longer any reservations in the restaurant and emails would be received so badly. Then who responded to our email? Well, we were given a table anyway. Service was quick, as was the food. The food came to the table super quickly and was really tasty. Of course it was relatively full, but waiting 30 minutes for a bill isn't exactly good for your mood, especially with a fussy child who doesn't want to wait. Even asking for the bill 3 times doesn't make things any better. Then the claim that you always only bring the bill when the table has been cleared really irritated us. Not only were our neighboring tables deserted and still full of glasses, no, guests without a reservation were immediately rejected even though tables were still free the whole time. All in all, recommendable for eating, everything else needs to be improved again. Even though the restaurant is popular with large groups, individual guests should not be neglected. We don't recommend that you come back again. Especially not when you're visibly whispering about guests.

The food was very tasty. And the price is right. If we want to eat fish, we like to go there. It's rustic and not fancy. It's nice that the spaces have been expanded. So we were able to stop there at peak meal time without registering. The service was very nice!

I can't say anything about the food. The dishes on the menu look good. But the service should work on being friendlier. At 2 p.m. there was nothing left to eat. Drinks only. Kitchen opens again at 5 p.m.

Unfortunately the service was terrible. Guests who arrived after us left before us while we hadn't even had our food. After we didn't get a menu after 15 minutes, we got one ourselves. After 1 hour we had our food, which was quite good, but not worth an hour of waiting. Good food, but not recommended.

As always great! There are only very small drawbacks today. It took quite a long time for the food to arrive today. But it didn't bother us as we normally don't have any time pressure! But acquaintances of ours, even though it wasn't overly full, were told "food takes 2 hours." basically sent away again! Lunch at lunchtime is actually “normal”! Maybe reconsider your offer if it's too much!

We got the food after 1 1/2 hours. Other guests came after us and paid. We still didn't have our food. Not recommended despite good food.

Everything is right here! A tavern the way you want it: attractively designed rooms with local character without unnecessary upper-class chic, quick, courteous, friendly service that genuinely cares about the guests and gives you the feeling of being a guest of family or friends. The menu is surprisingly extensive, and everything we tried was really excellent! The fish was on point, not dry and not slippery. We were told beforehand that the schnitzels should also be a real recommendation. The portions also satisfy the big hunger. The prices are really fair. And the beer is more than just an insider tip, it's simply a must, it's that good! We will definitely come back there next time and enjoy our evening. Thank you very much!
