Restaurant Grabenschenke in Bernkastel-Kues

A place to feel good and enjoy. The three of us were in the restaurant last night and we immediately felt at home, the familiar, cozy atmosphere and, above all, friendliness. All three of us were more than satisfied with our food (steak, schnitzel and spaghetti bolognaise) and are happy to recommend this place. It's certainly very beautiful outside here in the summer. Just for your information, no card payment is possible.

We ate here on January 2nd, 2025. Very nice, attentive host. Home-style cooking, food well prepared and delicious. The steak was fried pink and the pork medallions in the cheese pan were tender and juicy. You could still do a little better with the furnishings ;), but we still felt very comfortable. An old-school pub. We would come back :)

Hello. Were there at the end of November 2024. Rustic atmosphere, very nice friendly hospitality. Food very good. I can only recommend it.

The service is extremely friendly and attentive, the dining room is cozy with atmospheric seasonal decorations. Very nice boss who prepares a great rump steak with various side dishes. Good selection of wines.

We stopped by during a trip on November 1st. The service is very friendly and accommodating, he seated us straight away at a table and brought us the menu. This is very clear, which is by no means a bad thing! I had tomato soup as a starter. This was delicious and well crafted. The main course was the Ziegelüberschnitzel, which was also well made and tasted really good. The price-performance ratio was good. I ordered a starter, main course and 2 drinks. We would love to come back when we go to Bernkastel Kues again.

A bit away from the tourist flow. But still easily accessible. Food was ok and cheap.

Today we hiked past the Grabenschenke and enjoyed a delicious cold drink there before we continued. Super committed team and our conversation with the boss was also very nice. Always happy 🤷‍♂️👌👌

Very nice service that unfortunately did not respond to a change request to exchange fries for fried potatoes. My baked rosti are simple but delicious. Price performance okay.

We also had to gain experience. At the next table, pasta should be swapped for fried potatoes at the customer's request. This was rejected because it didn't taste good. For my schnitzel, the customer also wanted to swap fries for fried potatoes, possibly with an additional charge. It's not possible, the cook spends 12 hours in the kitchen and doesn't have time for that. If everyone wants a change like that. We say we were there at 12 p.m. and there were 6 guests there, 2 of whom had already had their food. Thank you never again, there are enough alternatives.

The service was very nice and courteous and always attentive. I ate the Bernkastler cheese pan and it was very tasty!!! Highly recommended. The ambience is also very appealing. A great family business. We'd love to come back.

Here the “young” man was extremely unfriendly. Both we and other guests were attacked because of our 2kg dogs each (Here you should take an example from the competition in a tourist area) We needed another chair at our table, and that also posed a real problem. All in all, it's not nice and comfortable here either... ...hunger drove us in.... But I wouldn't recommend this

We ate very tasty potato soup and homemade snitzel with tasty parsley potatoes. My wife had trout, also very tasty. Friendly and fast service in a real living room interior. Top

Very tasty food and great service

Nice terrace along a small alley. The service was nice and courteous. Unfortunately, my “Jägerschnitzel” consisted exclusively of convenience products. From the schnitzel to the sauce, the mushrooms from the jar, to the fries. On the one hand, this preparation is a quick and inexpensive way to meet the influx of tourists. On the other hand, this should also be reflected in the pricing of the dishes. Here there was a poor relationship between the cost of goods and the actual selling price.

Whenever you go to Bernkastel-Kues, the Grabenschenke is always the first port of call. From friendly staff to a large selection of food and drinks, at fair prices, to a pleasant feel-good atmosphere, nothing is left to be desired. An absolute recommendation! We are already looking forward to the next visit and say “Thank you for everything!”

Friendliest waiter ever. With his advice I found my regional wine. The food is rich and super tasty, highly recommended.

Nice place good food for a good price

Rustic restaurant with lots of simple dishes, super-friendly service, food absolutely delicious!

On an averagely busy day, we just wanted to sit on the beautifully designed terrace for a few drinks. The very polite waiter told us that it might take a while since his boss would be coming in about 30 minutes and he was alone. So far so good, no one can do more than work, so we sat down first. It has to be said that at this point it had been raining for about 20 minutes and the terrace was therefore not too full. To our surprise, a young waitress came very quickly and we ordered our drinks, saying that we didn't want to order any food yet. After a few minutes the boss himself came and told us that he would not serve us on the terrace because the cobblestones had become too “slippery” due to the rain and therefore he would not serve us. I found this to be very inappropriate, since 1.) even older people with walking aids walked past us, the floor was anything but slippery and 2.) the boss could have simply brought the drinks with him on the way to us and all would have been happy. It's a shame that we weren't offered an alternative at this point other than waiting on the terrace for 30 minutes without drinks until the floor was dry again. Despite the beautiful and covered terrace, we will probably rely on the other restaurateurs for the time being.

No visit to Bernkastel without a visit to the Grabenschenke! It's always a pleasure to come back there. The good food, the very friendly service, the loving furnishings inside and out. We feel comfortable, enjoy the good food and the individual service and are already looking forward to the next time. Thank you for the many wonderful hours.

Four of us ate here today. Great in terms of taste and price! The waiter was alone and still managed the place, respect for that! All in all highly recommended !

A little away from the main action, a highly recommended restaurant with down-to-earth cuisine at reasonable prices. And it tastes good. Reservations are not possible; during peak times you may have to wait a bit if you want to sit outside. It is worth it ..

Before ordering, we asked if we could get fried potatoes with the Holsteiner Schnitzel instead of fries, as is offered with other dishes. We were turned away with the reason "The kitchen doesn't accept reorders." Apparently they only have ready meals there and can't find the fried potatoes anywhere. So the store just missed out on two dinners and a bottle of wine. Roundabout €60 wasted.

We were in Bernkastel today and since the restaurant looked inviting from the outside, we entered. We had rump steak and schnitzel special with mushrooms and cheese gratinated. The portion size was perfectly fine and the meat was of good quality, especially the rump steak. The service was great, the young lady was friendly, attentive and always available. A rather small menu also guarantees fresh preparation. We enjoyed it. The service was very nice and accommodating. We would be happy to come back on our next stay.

Schlichte Karte ohne Schnick-Schnack. Wir hatten Käsespätzle und Schupfnudeln, sehr gut. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Besser als andere Lokale mit großem Anspruch, der nicht gehalten wird.

Essen ist ok, Cordon blue ist einfach ein fertiges gefülltes Schnitzel mit oben drüber Käse. Andere Speisen sind halt einfach ok. Service Naja., die Bestellung wird falsch aufgenommen und wenn du danach reklamierst dass man was anders bestellr hat kannan zwar das richtig Gericht bekommen soll aber beide Gerichte bezahlen. Das geht gar nicht und ist einfach schlechter Service..

Es war alles okay, jedoch nichts besonderes.
