Delicious food, very friendly service, nice atmosphere, gladly again!

First of all: We rarely write a review and especially don't like to write negative ones, because in my opinion many people are bothered by little things and often seem small-minded. But here are our objective impressions; We were in the restaurant for the first time. Good food, nice restaurant. Service with serious and evil looks, very unfriendly, sometimes didn't let us speak. Small changes requested when ordering a dish. Here we were already looked at with annoyance and the change was accepted without comment. When it came to the bill with bread brought there was an extra charge of 11 euros on the bill without mentioning a word beforehand. Normally we should have said something here, but from the overall impression we quickly became convinced that this would not fall on open ears. No service concept at all, superficial friendliness. very unprofessional behavior and gestures. The whole behavior made you feel like you were being taken advantage of as a guest. Were there for the first and last time. If you as a guest would like to be treated in an honest and completely normal way (this is not about special or preferential treatment), I would strongly ADVISE THIS LOCAL!

Excellent service, delicious food, the rice with the zucchini was a bit economical. But why does Google want to know this twice?

The garden gnome is our favorite Greek. We always eat a combination of starters there. Tzatziki, grilled pepperoni, dolmadakia... all very tasty. In summer you can enjoy the beautiful garden, otherwise the well-kept restaurant.

We've been there three times now. The food is certainly very good in general. However, for me as a salad eater it is always a disappointment. Lovelessly torn lettuces that look exactly like the mixed pre-packaged ones in the supermarket, tasteless tomatoes, and it tastes very much like ready-made dressing. Plus FIVE not very large BEEF STRIPS..... I was very pleased with the 17.90 Euro annoyed! The side salad looks exactly the same and the sauce tastes just as artificial. Now it's over, the salads have to be okay for me too, we're not going there anymore.

Now a bright exception in the catering industry. Lunch was very cheap, great service and consistently high quality food. I have known the restaurant for more than 15 years.

An idyllic restaurant surrounded by gardens and lots of greenery. The kitchen offers Greek and German delicacies of excellent quality. The restaurant and beer garden invite you to linger, and there is also a small playground for younger guests. Definitely worth a visit.

Were there for lunch today. After a long time again. Everything fine. I can't understand the bad reviews. We had the meal of the day. Gyros and redfish fillet...

Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. There were dwarfs in the garden apart from me, a total of 10 guests. Until you order your drinks, 45 minutes. Another 25 minutes until the food is ordered. It took 15 minutes for the drink to arrive. It took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The waiter was very friendly, the older waiter was very listless, annoyed, unfriendly. Unfortunately it wasn't the first time, but it was the last time for me there.

5 stars in all respects. Very decent restaurant, the food is great and is served without a long wait. The team is very attentive to the guests, no one really had to wait, even though it was busy at lunchtime. A visit here is worth it in every respect, gladly again. 🙏🏽👌🏽👍🏽

There were lice in my side salad. The iceberg lettuce was not washed. The zucchini were very fatty and salty. The math wasn't right either. We were disappointed that we didn't remember it that way. We hope for improvement.

The food and service were OK. However, the surprise and disappointment was great when looking closely at the billing. The fact that small ketchup bags are charged at an extra 50 cents each is perhaps acceptable at a chip shop, but in my opinion, ketchup should be included in a children's portion for €15.50. Charging €6.90 for an extra portion of tzatziki (a little larger than an ice cream scoop) and €0.50 for the leftover packaging is also not customer-friendly. The icing on the cake: ouzo and espresso at the end, not something you're used to with a group of 14 people. Conclusion: good food is not everything!

Not particularly friendly, a bit pushy if you don't order quickly

We often have family dinners there. The service is very nice and you are served quickly. Extra requests will be taken into account. The menu offers something for everyone. On warm days you can eat comfortably outdoors. I would like to eat there again on occasion.

The food was phenomenal but the service was extremely poor. The woman with short hair (waitress) was extremely unfriendly, arrogant and even shouted at us. Incredible!

Unfortunately, my last visit to the Gartenzwerg restaurant was disappointing. The food was good, but a service person really spoiled my impression. After I paid the bill, I tipped the waitress seven euros - quite a generous sum. However, my tip wasn't even acknowledged with a simple "thank you." I think it's natural to show a little kindness and appreciation for tips. It's a shame that the service concept is apparently missing here. I'll think twice about coming back here again.

Selten eine so unfreundliche Bedienung ( weiblich )Obwohl wir rechtzeitig im Biergarten waren, zeigte sie nur ein mürrisches Gesicht. Beim Bezahlen , trotz Trinkgeld, kein Danke, kein „ Auf Wiedersehen „ .Wir hatten ursprünglich vor, zu fragen, ob wir nächstes Jahr die Konfirmation unseres Enkelkindes hier feiern könnten. Aber bei so viel Unfreundlichkeit vergeht einem das Feiern. Es gab auch etwas Positives: Das Essen war gut. Fazit: Restaurant Gartenzwerg nie wieder

One of the most beautiful beer gardens in Karlsruhe. Really excellent gyros!!! Tzatziki and salad were also fresh. The shop is very busy, you should make a reservation. Points are deducted for the waitress who tried to direct us to a seat that we didn't want to sit on. Old Swede.... Keep your eyes open when choosing a career! Except for the waitress, it was a good visit...

Ordered shrimp with calamari. I got the whole thing on a skewer with the shrimp heads being fried individually on the skewer. So waste on a spit is not my thing. The staff made an effort and the atmosphere is very nice including a great beer garden.

Always great for a quick lunch. You are greeted immediately and given a seat within seconds. Drinks always come immediately after ordering and food tastes delicious and comes within 5 minutes even though it is busy. Prices mega low. Simply an all-round perfect garden restaurant.

Never again!!! Dear garden gnome team, If there is no menu at a table, it is not the guest's job to take care of it. And if, in response to the waiter's unfriendly question, drinks cannot be ordered immediately because there is no menu, you should not walk away from the guests muttering Greek into your non-existent beard. Having the guest then search for drinks on the menu for at least 20 minutes is also a rather unfortunate solution. Maybe you had a bad day, but the customer should feel welcome... I'll save myself any further comments. I can't rate the food because we left the restaurant hungry after the unfriendly treatment and long wait.

Price-performance ratio is right. Small menu, home-style. Familyfriendly. Nice terrace. Were served very friendly.

Very good food. However, not child-friendly at all, at least if you come with a stroller. Were not welcome at all even though it was very empty (maybe 6 tables occupied) We felt very uncomfortable after the discussion in front of us was in Greek. We are very disappointed because the food is really delicious and we were there at least once a month. Unfortunately, that changed after the campaign. A real shame

The service: unfortunately left a lot to be desired. There was hardly anything spoken, the waitress served and settled the bill without saying a word or emotion, the only one who smiled was the waiter who cleared away and hardly spoke any German. There was no ouzo (at the Greeks) either. :.-( But the food: Greek food with a very short waiting time. Perfectly seasoned. Tender meat, the salads had very good dressing. The atmosphere in the beer garden and restaurant is also very good.

The food was very tasty, gyros and bifteki were very good. Salads are simple, but still very tasty with fresh raw vegetables. Espresso also tastes very good, great machine. The only point of criticism is the service, not all of the service staff, but some, we were there with children, there are also chairs and options for changing diapers, that's very good, but you quickly roll your eyes and become unfriendly if the children are a little restless . That was a shame, the treatment among the staff is also a bit rougher in front of guests. Outside there is a swing, slide and sandpit. This isn't found everywhere either. Ambiance is nice and the outdoor seating is nice too. Parking spaces are also available.

Beautiful interior, very nice and friendly staff. Large selection of dishes. Food was served quickly and tasted very good. We recommend. A great beer garden invites you in summer.

Update: Unfortunately there is a new menu with significantly higher prices, both for food and drinks. We decided on the spot to just have a drink, even though we actually wanted to eat something. Unfortunately, the restaurant will no longer be available for regular meals or drinks during the week in the future. The prices weren't exactly cheap before, but now it's just become too much. Previously: Good food, friendly service, and a free ouzo every time after your meal. Recommendation!

We were here with about 12 people, one of whom was Greek!! The food was ok, but the prices quoted are outrageous! I had the house plate, it's a shame I didn't take a photo, but many others have already done so. On my plate was a wooden skewer with 3 small pieces of meat, a medium-sized steak (Greek, not the typical steak from a German butcher) and a medium amount of gyros. The price for this little something with fries and salad was an impressive 19 euros. My Greek colleague said it was very dry and the best thing on his plate were the fries 😬!! The tzatziki was about the size of half a scoop of ice cream. Damn, is tzatziki so expensive or what??? They should have done more with the dry meat. Drinks were also only available in certain sizes, which I don't understand. Kl. Osaft is available, kl. Not currant juice??????? The waitresses were also very unfriendly as it was a bit fuller, which I don't think is our fault. Then you just have to plan better with personnel. We definitely won't be coming back, the prices are beyond the pale for a garden club restaurant. Sorry. Prices down, nicer staff and a better chef who doesn't fry the meat to death, then it could be something, but without us. I have no idea why people come here when there are better and cheaper Greeks. All in all, a not so nice experience that we won't repeat. I'd rather stay with my Greek guy, who is more friendly, better prices and the most important thing!! tastes very good.

We have been eating there regularly for years. In the meantime, the prices for food have increased significantly and at the same time the portions have become smaller. We find that the price-performance ratio is no longer okay. In addition, nothing has been invested in outdoor areas and toilets for years. Some of the outdoor flower pots are no longer planted; instead, there are small garden gnomes in them. The placemats are torn, the chairs are partly battered and the seat cushions are ancient and stained. The toilets are not what you might expect for the prices. Very old, outdated in terms of towels and soap and not well maintained. Added to this is the unfriendliness of the service staff, which has been obligatory for years. At times we feel ripped off rather than well served. We'll probably look for a new Greek.

Good down-to-earth food, lunch was good but not very varied.

You come to a Greek meal in a cozy garden. When there is a lot going on, the staff don't talk to the guests much. Food is top. Every now and then you would have to reorder drinks because you had probably forgotten or there was too much going on. In the end, a successful day with good food and drinks. The playground is for little ones aged 1-6, so you don't have to leave straight after eating, but the children can spend some time in the playground.

The food was very good and we received great service. Mega friendly and sufficient staff. It's nice to see that no savings are being made. In general, the restaurant is very clean and we also found the price-performance ratio to be great. The boss also comes to the table well dressed and greets the guests. This is not something to be taken for granted today.

The last visit to Gartenzwerg really dampened my satisfaction with the restaurant. The food is actually really good, but when I ordered the "Raspberry Dream" ice cream, there was a beetle sitting on the waffle that was stuck in the ice cream. I complained about that. However, instead of bringing me new ice cream, they simply replaced the waffle. That was very unsavory. Furthermore, the ice cream was brought to me without cream because the machine for it was apparently broken. However, the cream was still included in the calculation. I am dissatisfied with the price-performance ratio. I find the staff to be unfriendly. On our last visit we were the last guests still sitting in the restaurant. Actually the restaurant would have been open for another hour. However, the staff already started cleaning up and setting up the chairs since no other guests were coming. An hour before closing, the staff indirectly made it very clear to us that we should leave now. This included grim looks, they stood next to our table and came to us while we were eating and made us pay. However, they didn't ask us to leave directly. The unfriendliness of the staff makes me feel unwelcome and also reduces my satisfaction with the service. But at least the staff is attentive, regularly clears away dishes and cutlery that are no longer needed and you don't have to wait long to order.

The food is good and expensive. Compared to the food the rest of the environment may not be relaxing. For example service stuffs can be moody, pets are allowed inside the restaurant and blocks the walkway.

What's disturbing is how your plate feels like it's being pulled away after the last fork, the service seems rushed and the next guests are already on the mat on busy days.

The food and service is simply great. The appetizer platter and the seafood skewer are highly recommended. Unfortunately it is always very loud, in summer it is much better if all the walls can be opened.

Surprisingly beautiful restaurant in an allotment garden. The beer garden is certainly great in summer too. The food was very tasty, hot and served with a reasonable waiting time. Only the side salad was nothing special. Very friendly and quick service. Price/performance fits. Clear recommendation.

Good Greek restaurant in the allotment garden. There are typical Greek dishes here. Salads, hot and cold starters, meat, fish, dessert, beer, wine, soft drinks and of course ouzo. Vegetarian dishes can also be found and taste very good. If you're looking for vegan food, you should eat somewhere else, but otherwise everyone can find something here. And if you don't like Greek food, you can also choose from a small, typical selection of German dishes. We were about 30 people (reserved) and yet everything was ready very quickly and warm. I'd love to come back. Thanks for the super good service. In summer you can also sit outside and there is also a small playground.

Essen war ganz gut aber nichts besonderes. Griechische Küche halt. Bekommt man überall. Service fanden ich sehr unfreundlich zu uns. Die Dame war warscheinlich sehr im Stress. Lokalität ist ganz schön. Würden dort nicht mehr unbedingt hin gehen.

Der Gartenzwerg ist etwas abgelegen und die Parkplätze waren beim Regen eine Seenplatte. Essen war lecker und das Team sehr freundlich. Die gegrillten Peperoni mit Knofi als Vorspeise waren so lecker aber das Fleisch beim Hauptgericht war leider etwas trocken. Das Ambiente könnte etwas netter sein aber das ist wohl Geschmackssache.

Steak hat sehr gut geschmeckt, aber das Personal hat versucht einen zu hetzen.

Wir waren zum Weihnachts essen hier . Tolles Ambiente das Essen ist sehr lecker aber etwas zu teuer es gibt aufjedenfall günstigere griechische.!! Das Personal sollte sich aufjedenfall verbessern es ging zu schnell man gibt den Leuten keine Zeit sich in Ruhe die Menükarte anzuschauen und schon wird man gefragt was man essen möchte und was man trinken möchte und ständig fühlt man sich beobachtet weil die Kellner immer wieder nach etwas fragen und uns beim Essen beobachtet ... Und man sollte fragen ob man mit dem Essen fertig ist bevor man die Teller weg räumt !!!

Sehr schön in einer Kleingartenanlage gelegen, trotzdem gut sowohl mit Fahrrad als auch Auto erreichbar, Parkplätze direkt vor dem Haus. Sehr gutes leckeres Essen (griechische Küche), gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, sehr freundlicher Service. Wir kommen gerne wieder!
