We ate at the restaurant and had the Schäufele (pork shoulder) – simply outstanding! The meat was tender, the crackling beautifully crispy, and the side dishes perfectly balanced. You can tell that the food is cooked with love. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was very friendly and attentive. We felt completely at ease and will definitely be back! 🍽️😊

We generally don't write negative reviews since we're also in the restaurant business, but something incredibly rude happened during our last visit. I get along very well with the owner personally, but unfortunately, he wasn't there. The food was absolutely perfect. Here's the problem: I wanted to pay in cash. The waitress counted the money in front of me and said it was correct, plus we left a €15 tip. Three to four minutes later, the server came and told me I'd underpaid by €20, after I'd been told everything was correct. The situation was so uncomfortable that I simply paid the €20, as we dislike conflict. We could have asked for a cash count, but we refrained because it was very busy at the time. We used to eat veal schnitzel there weekly, and since this incident in the summer of 2025, we haven't returned. P.S. Best regards to the waiter and good health.

The food is excellent and plentiful, whether you prefer fish or meat. Everything is exceptionally good. And the cakes are delicious! The service staff is very friendly and efficient. It couldn't be better!

A fantastic restaurant on the banks of the Main River. The menu leaves nothing to be desired. The staff are really cheerful and very customer-oriented. We'll be back! Where else can you still get "Meefischli" these days...?

We were there yesterday with a VdK (Association of German Culinary Arts) excursion from Stuttgart, with 50 people. The diverse food we had pre-booked was very tasty, portions were generous and very attractively presented, prices were very reasonable, and the service was very friendly and attentive—it couldn't be better! Bravo! Highly recommended!

Certainly, the restaurant, with its beautiful location on the Main River and just a few meters from the shipping company piers, is a real tourist magnet. Nevertheless, I can't understand some of the reviews here. I always received friendly service, was mostly very satisfied with the quality of the food, and found the prices very fair. Of course, I was occasionally turned away without a reservation during peak season, but never in an unfriendly manner. Overall, considering all factors, I can only give it a very positive review.

Great view of the Main from the terrace. We had the fish and chips with homemade potato salad and remoulade. We'll be back to try the fish with green sauce.

Here you'll find them: the Meefischli. These are small and extremely delicious fish from the Main River. And, as expected from the name "Fischerbärbel," there are also numerous other fish dishes here in Veitshöchheim, right on the Main River. For those who aren't into fish, there are also a few meat dishes. We chose the aforementioned "Meefischli" and drank them with a delicious Pinot Gris. Good choice!

Yes, absolutely. Nice, friendly service, good value for money, delicious food, a very good selection of drinks, outdoor seating just 20 meters from the Main River on a pretty promenade with beautiful summer flowers. A visit is definitely worth it and feels like a vacation. I ate local Meefischli (fish), which were breaded and deep-fried. You eat them head and tail, so whole. A good Franconian dish, served with extremely tasty homemade potato salad and remoulade, which also went well with the small fish. The wines from the Meintzinger winery in Frickenhausen are excellent. And I've always enjoyed Oechsner beer specialties. Also important: The restroom area is spacious, modern, and clean. That's how it should be, but it's by no means standard everywhere. Keep up the good work! I'll be back anytime, thank you!

We were there without a reservation, the shoulder of pork was very tasty, the prices were completely ok and the service was very nice.

I ordered Schäufela (pork shoulder), dumplings, and cabbage. It was hard and cold inside. I complained because it didn't taste good at all. The chef told me it was made three days ago and then heated for 15 minutes today. There was no apology or discount.

Highly recommended. Even though the restaurant seems a bit dated, the food is delicious, whether it's meat (schnitzel) or fish (Meefischli). And the evening sun is even more beautiful on the terrace on the first floor.

We were just there, and unfortunately, the waitress, Pa., was very unfriendly. The lady was very annoyed that a disabled person couldn't order quickly because he stutters. I don't think it's good to treat disabled people like that.

I made a spontaneous reservation for three people on Mother's Day and was able to enjoy it. Very attentive staff, a fantastic view, and amazing, fresh food. It might become a regular. Picture to follow 😉

I can recommend this place because it's good value for money, the location is very nice right on the Main and is also easy to reach for people with walking difficulties, especially directly from the shipping pier. The restaurant was very full, but the service was friendly and patiently responded to special requests. For those who eat less: the normal portions are very rich.

Wir haben kurzfristig einen Tisch für zwei Personen reserviert und auf der oberen Terrasse gesessen. Von dort hat man einen schönen Ausblick . Der Service war sehr freundlich und kompetent. Wir hatten beide Fisch gegessen. Beide Gerichte waren super lecker . Preislich, vollkommen okay 👍🏻 wenn wir nochmals in der Gegend sind , kommen wir gern wieder 😉

Went for dinner. At first I thought the price was right. Until I saw the price of the so-called asparagus salad. So a small plate, about 3 asparagus spears cut, 2 to 3 lettuce leaves. A little bit of decoration. The taste of the dressing was only guessable, so nothing at all. The main course was cheese spatzle. Too fat without Schlotz (sauce). Only spaetzle on a plate, cheese on top and grilled in the oven. It's a shame for the goods. The price for a small salad is 13.90 and cheese spaetzle is 10.90. What's the ratio?

Were in Veitshöchheim by ship yesterday, unplanned. Since it was raining heavily, we wanted something to eat and drink in the restaurant. But apparently you are taken or not based on your looks When we came into the dining room we were greeted in an unfriendly manner with the words "What do you want here without a reservation? We don't have any space, try again at 2 p.m. maybe there will be a table available then." But there were a lot of places available. Then 8 people came in suits and ties and the ladies in dresses. One of them said we are 8 people but we haven't reserved space? The waiter of course she could take the table over here. 🤔🤷‍♀️

We always love having a relaxed meal here with family and friends. Very good selection of fish dishes and other dishes. The service is top and we are always easily assigned a free table after a short reservation. Hopefully the institution will remain intact for a long time.

Rustic restaurant with an excellent schnitzel and the potato salad is to die for.

Very good, authentic and rustic restaurant right on the Main. You can see the ships passing by from the window. Service was very attentive, yet unobtrusive and very friendly, we felt very well looked after. We had the veal courdon bleu with potato salad and the redfish with fried potatoes - both very tasty and absolutely reasonable in terms of price, we will definitely be back!

We are happy to travel a little over 100km for the carp. The ambience is what we would like for a Franconian restaurant and there is nothing wrong with the service. And when you are served a wonderful baked carp directly on the Main, you have arrived in Franconian heaven. It's just a shame that there aren't as many restaurants like the Fischerbärbel anymore.

Nice restaurant on the 1st floor with a terrace and a view of the Main. Attentive and friendly service. The food is served relatively quickly, looks attractive and is extremely tasty. The only downside is the portion size. It's no use asking a good price and not getting full.

The staff is extremely friendly and competent, the magicians in the kitchen cook with love and passion. The number 1 stop in Veitshöchheim when it comes to good, home-made Franconian cuisine. We were there today with 12 people and had pre-ordered 3 geese including stuffing for 11 people. One person ate a la card. The taste was delicious but unfortunately it definitely wasn't 3 geese. And at 8:45 p.m. the last round started. We had reserved the table for 7 p.m. It's all a shame, but next year we'll probably have to go somewhere else. By the way, the service was very nice, because she couldn't say anything about the performance of the kitchen!

Something that's getting on in years - I feel like I've been coming by every ten times since the mid-90s - traditional bar. Nice, quick service, even when it's busy. Regional specialties such as Meefischli, which still taste as good with a Silvaner as they used to. Only the sheet apple cake wasn't that special.

Was very crowded on the holiday. There was only space on the terrace. Cakes or tarts are wonderful.

We passed the restaurant on Saturday lunchtime and decided to eat a typical Franconian Schäufele. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The side dishes were okay, but the Schäufele was not “fresh” as claimed on the board in front of the restaurant. Rather, it was warmed up and the crust was rubbery. Not recommended.

We were there for dinner at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. The lower outdoor area was occupied. We were told there were still tables available on the terrace. We went up and there were four tables available on the terrace. A waitress said one was still free and not reserved. The other, however, said, no, that wouldn't be possible either. So we stayed inside. We order our food and it was also very good. In the meantime, three people came and politely asked for a table. The waitress said there was a table available on the terrace. It gave me the impression that these gentlemen hadn't made a reservation. But ok! There was no reserved sign on the three other free tables. Another couple came who hadn't reserved either. They also got a terrace space. I complained and was told as an excuse that people canceled. And we could go out now that we were almost done. I.e. 1.5 hours later. During all this time, two tables were still unoccupied. And. The third was given to this couple who also hadn't reserved. Conclusion: we were ripped off. My partner is a woman of color who took this very personally and attributed it to her skin color. Which of course was just her fear. We've been there a few times, sat downstairs, and never had any problems. The food was very good!

What can we say, great cuisine with very charming service. There are complaints about staff shortages in the catering industry everywhere. Here you get the impression that everything fits. A very honest and wonderful menu. We are from Northern Germany and were amazed at so much friendliness. The dishes are prepared with love and the bill is light at the end. We have traveled a lot in terms of gastronomy but here we have found a gem. Thank you very much and warm greetings from Northern Germany. The restaurant is located on the wonderful Main promenade and directly at the boat pier, so you always have something to look at. The service was very friendly and helpful. We were unlucky that a larger group arrived before us and they all paid individually, so that just took a while. The meefischli with potato salad we ordered were ok, but the portion was very small and actually not enough. You should definitely make a reservation.

The three of us wanted to have a COMFORTABLE dinner. The stress started as soon as we arrived because we were threatened that the kitchen would close in the next 10 minutes and we would have to quickly decide what we wanted. When we wanted to order, my desired meal was mashed potatoes with vegetables. I was offered potatoes as an alternative, which would have cost EUR 9.90 with the vegetables. I also wanted the green sauce that was offered as a dish with eggs. I was charged 1.50 euros extra because of the change in the order and the more expensive dish (potatoes, green sauce and eggs - even though I didn't have any eggs). I then had to pay 14.40 euros for a few potatoes with vegetables and green sauce. The sauce didn't even taste particularly good, very bland. There was no sign of goodwill since the mashed potatoes we actually wanted were out. Exactly 10 minutes before closing time at 9 p.m., the last round of drinks was requested and billed, which was tantamount to being thrown out. I work in a service-oriented job myself - everything was done here to alienate customers! Finishing work on time is an absolute priority here. I don't need this anti-customer treatment a second time!

Wonderful location right on the Main. The service was MEGA friendly. Things like that don't happen that often anymore. We had schnitzel with fries, Schäufele with cabbage and dumplings, baked trout with potatoes and salad, cheese spaetzle and hake fillet with spinach dumplings and vegetables. Everything was super tasty and at moderate prices. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. This definitely wasn't our last visit. Many thanks to the Markt Bärbel team 🤩
