Restaurant Fischerbärbel in Veitshöchheim

We are happy to travel a little over 100km for the carp. The ambience is what we would like for a Franconian restaurant and there is nothing wrong with the service. And when you are served a wonderful baked carp directly on the Main, you have arrived in Franconian heaven. It's just a shame that there aren't as many restaurants like the Fischerbärbel anymore.

Food was very good although a bit expensive. Had the veal schnitzel and my friend had the trout which was also good.

Nice restaurant on the 1st floor with a terrace and a view of the Main. Attentive and friendly service. The food is served relatively quickly, looks attractive and is extremely tasty. The only downside is the portion size. It's no use asking a good price and not getting full.

Extremely delicious food and a beautiful outdoor terrace with a great view of the Main promenade. The staff is extremely friendly and competent, the magicians in the kitchen cook with love and passion. The number 1 stop in Veitshöchheim when it comes to good, home-made Franconian cuisine. We were there today with 12 people and had pre-ordered 3 geese including stuffing for 11 people. One person ate a la card. The taste was delicious but unfortunately it definitely wasn't 3 geese. And at 8:45 p.m. the last round started. We had reserved the table for 7 p.m. It's all a shame, but next year we'll probably have to go somewhere else. By the way, the service was very nice, because she couldn't say anything about the performance of the kitchen!

Very good location with a view of the Main. Generously furnished and good opening times! The menu is not overloaded, but everyone is sure to find something suitable. (Burgers, schnitzels, fish dishes are highly recommended) The service was very friendly and the food was nicely prepared and tasty. Clear recommendation!

Something that's getting on in years - I feel like I've been coming by every ten times since the mid-90s - traditional bar. Nice, quick service, even when it's busy. Regional specialties such as Meefischli, which still taste as good with a Silvaner as they used to. Only the sheet apple cake wasn't that special.

Was very crowded on the holiday. There was only space on the terrace. Cakes or tarts are wonderful.

We passed the restaurant on Saturday lunchtime and decided to eat a typical Franconian Schäufele. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The side dishes were okay, but the Schäufele was not “fresh” as claimed on the board in front of the restaurant. Rather, it was warmed up and the crust was rubbery. Not recommended.

We were there for dinner at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday. The lower outdoor area was occupied. We were told there were still tables available on the terrace. We went up and there were four tables available on the terrace. A waitress said one was still free and not reserved. The other, however, said, no, that wouldn't be possible either. So we stayed inside. We order our food and it was also very good. In the meantime, three people came and politely asked for a table. The waitress said there was a table available on the terrace. It gave me the impression that these gentlemen hadn't made a reservation. But ok! There was no reserved sign on the three other free tables. Another couple came who hadn't reserved either. They also got a terrace space. I complained and was told as an excuse that people canceled. And we could go out now that we were almost done. I.e. 1.5 hours later. During all this time, two tables were still unoccupied. And. The third was given to this couple who also hadn't reserved. Conclusion: we were ripped off. My partner is a woman of color who took this very personally and attributed it to her skin color. Which of course was just her fear. We've been there a few times, sat downstairs, and never had any problems. The food was very good!

What can we say, great cuisine with very charming service. There are complaints about staff shortages in the catering industry everywhere. Here you get the impression that everything fits. A very honest and wonderful menu. We are from Northern Germany and were amazed at so much friendliness. The dishes are prepared with love and the bill is light at the end. We have traveled a lot in terms of gastronomy but here we have found a gem. Thank you very much and warm greetings from Northern Germany. A very fine location located directly on the Main 👍‼️ with nice and friendly service and excellent food!!

The restaurant is located on the wonderful Main promenade and directly at the boat pier, so you always have something to look at. The service was very friendly and helpful. We were unlucky that a larger group arrived before us and they all paid individually, so that just took a while. The meefischli with potato salad we ordered were ok, but the portion was very small and actually not enough. You should definitely make a reservation.

The three of us wanted to have a COMFORTABLE dinner. The stress started as soon as we arrived because we were threatened that the kitchen would close in the next 10 minutes and we would have to quickly decide what we wanted. When we wanted to order, my desired meal was mashed potatoes with vegetables. I was offered potatoes as an alternative, which would have cost EUR 9.90 with the vegetables. I also wanted the green sauce that was offered as a dish with eggs. I was charged 1.50 euros extra because of the change in the order and the more expensive dish (potatoes, green sauce and eggs - even though I didn't have any eggs). I then had to pay 14.40 euros for a few potatoes with vegetables and green sauce. The sauce didn't even taste particularly good, very bland. There was no sign of goodwill since the mashed potatoes we actually wanted were out. Exactly 10 minutes before closing time at 9 p.m., the last round of drinks was requested and billed, which was tantamount to being thrown out. I work in a service-oriented job myself - everything was done here to alienate customers! Finishing work on time is an absolute priority here. I don't need this anti-customer treatment a second time!

Wonderful location right on the Main. The service was MEGA friendly. Things like that don't happen that often anymore. We had schnitzel with fries, Schäufele with cabbage and dumplings, baked trout with potatoes and salad, cheese spaetzle and hake fillet with spinach dumplings and vegetables. Everything was super tasty and at moderate prices. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. This definitely wasn't our last visit. Many thanks to the Markt Bärbel team 🤩

I was on the balcony with a friend this afternoon and wanted to have a delicious meal, but unfortunately we didn't get the chance because the waiter completely ignored us after we had our drinks, it's a shame and there are really friendly restaurants here, but unfortunately they don't seem to need them here anymore to entertain guests.

We were always served very friendly and the food was very good. I had the carp fillet with fried potatoes and my wife had the real Wiener Schnitzel. As always, highly recommended!

At the top of the terrace you have a wonderful view of the Main. Then the Meefischli and nice people all around... - The day is perfect.

The service and the food are very good, even though there seemed to be no space left, we still couldn't sit outside and enjoy the great food.

We visited the Fischerbäebel restaurant again (July 23, 2024) for various reasons. Without registering, we found a place (3 people) on the route on the 1st floor in changeable weather. We all decided on 2 bratwursts with sauerkraut and bread. 1a - the sauerkraut - with onion, caraway, bay leaf and juniper berries, as it should or should be. We were all thrilled and can only recommend this dish. We have therefore revised a previous visit that did not turn out so well. The staff may have been stressed, but they were still friendly and let us finish our drinks in peace even after opening hours. Thanks for this too

It's very nice to go for a walk along the Main. Afterwards I went to Fischerbärbel, which I have known for 50 years. I ate a Wienerschnitzel, I was thrilled because it was baked in the pan as it should be. The prices of the dishes are perfectly reasonable, as are the wine prices. Was really excited.

I have some childhood memories of this restaurant, yesterday I managed to stop by again after many years. As expected, the food was good, home-style, and the portion was large enough. I also had wine, and the operators made a good selection. The service was friendly, tried hard and tried to respond to the needs of the guests.

Hello, we were here today to watch football. I had the Obazda. Unfortunately it is a finished product out of the box. The service person also confirmed this when asked. The bread was definitely from the day before. My wife had the sausage salad. That was ok. The evening would have been ok so far. However, we had a sparrow chick with us that fell out of the nest yesterday. The chick was always in a small pocket in the jacket. We ordered 5g of raw meat for the chick. It needs to be fed every 30 minutes. We have €2 on the bill for this. 2€ for 5g.😳 When the waiter noticed this, he threw us out for hygiene reasons. Because we didn't leave immediately, the boss's son, the cook, came and forcefully kicked us out. Quote: "GET OUT NOW!!!! It's about the principle." This is completely incomprehensible, outrageous aggressive behavior. It is clear that animals do not belong in the kitchen. The guest room is part of the so-called unclean area. Nobody would throw a guest out because they have the flu. And not to mention where you can enter anywhere. Dogs are allowed and they may have fleas that can jump to people. A sparrow chick in your jacket pocket poses no danger. We will definitely not be coming back and would rather go to the Mainblick restaurant right next door in the future. Unfortunately we didn't take any pictures of the food. Answer to the direction position. I'm surprised that they let you show the dogs' vaccination certificates. Or how do you know that your guests' dogs are vaccinated? The chick was never on the table. Always in your pocket. The fact that you don't comment on the behavior of your staff speaks for itself. I was told the price of 400€/kg of raw meat by the waiter. I didn't want to receive anything from you as a gift because of the disproportionality. That's why I asked for this 5g to be added to the bill. You have decided the price.

The Fischerbärbel in Veitshöchheim was, is and remains - simply great. Lunch with Meefischli with potato salad and carp crispy and the wonderful Franconian wines. The staff is super nice and very attentive. Simply a nice place to feel good.

Fine dining, as the name suggests, several fish dishes. But also delicious meat dishes very well prepared. Wonderful restaurant with Franconian flair right on the Main promenade. Recommendation.

Coffee came immediately, but the ice cream sundae and cake unfortunately took a while to arrive. You can certainly eat well here all day long and enjoy the view of the Main.

Fish portion was too little. The vegetables were a bit hard. A very loud regulars' table was present. After 1 1/2 hours we left. It wasn't comfortable.

According to the waiter, all the tables at the window were reserved and we had to take a large round table at the kitchen exit. The kitchen door was open the whole time: smell, noise and chatter, serving path. Ten minutes later a couple came. They immediately got a table in the next room by the window. Bad service. Little selection on the menu. Wine is not offered in bottles according to the menu. The Schäufele was good, the sauerkraut taste was not special, overcooked and sweet. The cheese spaetzle was okay, but prepared with far too many onions. There are also much better prepared ones

Delicious meefischli with homemade. Ate potato salad, if it were up to me I could have left the pickles out of the salad, but that's just my opinion 😊. Otherwise everything was great here, service, friendliness, ambience, really great. I'll definitely come here again😊...... Worth a recommendation.

Vorreservierte Geburtstagsfeier mit 30 Personen (Beginn 18:30 h) im Nebenzimmer mit Sektempfang. Secco war leider teilw. warm, da voreingeschenkt. Das 3-Gänge-Menue war gut; freundlicher Service. Dann kam der Hammer: Um 21 h gab es ohne vorherige Ankündigung den Hinweis: wir schließen jetzt und können nichts mehr ausschenken! Auf unsere Intervention hin sagte die Chefin in unfreundlichem Ton, die Schuld liege bei uns, wir hätten im Vorgespräch nach den Öffnungszeiten fragen müssen. Gnädigerweise durften wir dann bis 22 h bleiben. Von Seiten der Geschäftsführung erfolgte weder ein Bedauern noch eine Verabschiedung. Wir werden mit Sicherheit dieses Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen und auch nicht mehr betreten.

Birthday party with 30 people in the next room (starts at 6:30 p.m.) with champagne reception. The Secco was too warm because it was pre-poured. The 3-course menu with friendly service was good. But then came the hammer: At 9 p.m. we were told, without any prior notice, that the restaurant was now closing and no further serving was possible. During the preliminary discussions about the reservation, we received no indication that the closing times also apply to a celebration. After our intervention, the boss gave us an extension of 1 hour in an unfriendly manner. There was no regret or farewell from the management when we left the restaurant at 10 p.m. We will definitely not recommend this restaurant nor will we ever visit it again.

Delicious cake 🍰 Drinking coffee with a brilliant view of the water

Attentive service, but Schäuferle was quite dry due to the long cooking time. The sauerkraut would also have liked to have left the stove a little earlier. Closing time at 9 p.m. when the restaurant only opens at 5 p.m. is very sporty and rather surprising for a tourist audience compared to nearby Würzburg. Nevertheless, very attentive service.

Update 03/2024: We were very disappointed with the quality of the food this time. After the trout was excellent last time, we ordered the same thing again... it wasn't good and we think the fish wasn't fresh but frozen. The highly praised horseradish sauce didn't really taste like horseradish... so this time it was a total disappointment! Has the operator or chef changed here? It's a shame, please work urgently on quality if you want to pass... We were in Veitshöchheim for the first time with our motorhome and parked nearby. We found the address on the internet because it was already afternoon and most of the inns were closed, but not here! We are thrilled by the friendliness of the hosts, you don't often get served like that! The food was to die for!! After the starter we chose blue trout, which was excellent. Very fresh with a horseradish/dill sauce that was fantastic. Plus, of course, a very good Franconian wine! I would also like to mention that the pricing is not exorbitant! We have decided to come back and wish these restaurateurs continued success! Thank you!

Excellent Franconian cuisine at a fair price

I will every day now, asked about my favorite dish. Can only be one answer Schäufele with Franconian wine.

Unfortunatelly the payment only by cash or by EC card destroyed our evening and also the bill could be higher in case of the possibility to pay by regular visa or master card. The food and the service were really good but the run for cash in rain completely changed the atmosphere.

So since I hadn't eaten anything for two days due to an intestinal injury, I was really looking forward to fish and we decided to go to this restaurant. Service was ok, but the food... apart from the bratwursts, which you can hardly go wrong with, the rest wasn't tasty at all. For starters, liver dumpling soup, a dumpling, lots of Brussels and cauliflower and as sweet as if it were anything half a pack of sugar fell in. I then ate shrimp with vegetables and salad, which was also inedible…. The sauerkraut with the sausages was also very sweet and way too much caraway (I really like eating caraway)... The schnitzel wasn't good either, the fries were ok. Even the drinks didn't taste good. All in one: once and never again. And I was really hungry, everything tastes good 🙈 And €75 for that… a shame. Oh, and we were sitting by the window, where there was a strong draft and that in the cold... even the candle on the table was blown away by the wind, very unpleasant...

Good food - definitely try the mee-fischle or scoops!! A poem. If you don't come at peak times, the crowds of tourists are bearable.
