We have been to the Greek restaurant "Evia", Olpener Straße 494 in Cologne-Höhenberg, several times - and have never been disappointed. The service is polite, funny and very attentive. As a starter there were fluffy house rolls with a buttery garlic cream. Afterwards we shared the slightly sour artichoke hearts (price at the time of our visit: 5.90 euros). They tasted great and the tzatziki with them was a real hit. Afterwards there was the classic gyros with fries and tzatziki (15.50 euros) and the Irodion plate with fries, gyros, a suflaki (grilled skewer), a suzuki (small minced meat roll) and two pieces of butter-tender liver from the grill, plus lots of onions (18.50 euros). Both dishes were delicious and very plentiful. The gyro was nice and crispy and still juicy. Everything else was also perfectly prepared, especially the liver was great. It was also wonderfully pink on the outside. Unfortunately you have to order tzatziki with the Irodion plate, otherwise it's all a bit dry. The drinks (Pils and Radler for 4.20 and 4 euros) came in 0.4 glass glasses. If you want smaller, you have to say so. But it didn't bother us. What bothered us - and a point was deducted for that - was that smoking was allowed in the almost closed winter garden, which the other guests also did plenty of. But the weather was too nice to sit inside, which was packed despite the early hour. Nevertheless: A pleasure that we would like to repeat.

The food was OK. But during our visit (03/25/25, 4:00 p.m.) it was louder than at Cologne Central Station due to a group of bawling adults and screaming children. Many guests just shook their heads at the noise. My wife's plate was cleared even though I was still eating. There wasn't the usual ouzo either. No more Evia for the time being...

The restaurant is definitely recommended! If you call to pick it up, the food is always ready within 15 minutes and is of great quality. Very friendly staff! Eating on site is also fun because the waiters are very attentive. The ambience is certainly not the fanciest, but in this case it is absolutely negligible because the food and service are everything. Also recommended for vegetarians.

Good gyros at good prices! Unfortunately I didn't really like the atmosphere. The restaurant doesn't invite you to linger. Unfortunately, the music is also very loud, so much so that you almost have to shout at each other. But service was very friendly and accommodating.

I can't rate much here since I only get gyros to go a few times a year. And it's really good. Juicy and not greasy. The portions are generous and the order is completed quickly.

Large portions, friendly service, often an ouzo or two on the house. Only the uniform side salad is very colorless; a few Greek accents (e.g. olives, red onions) would be good. Still a great restaurant, especially if you're hungry quickly. Update 10/2024: now the go-to Greek restaurant par excellence and with the updated menu and the always perfectly grilled meat, it's the missing star.

I have been a regular guest for over 20 years and have always been a welcome guest, but we complained once and now we are banned from the house. We had reserved a table and at the beginning it was like always, then foreign citizens came who were consuming drugs in the restaurant and had a music box with them. We asked the boss whether he thought this was normal and whether he could stop it or whether it would be right for us to leave the restaurant. I asked what we had to pay and he didn't give me an answer. We then left the restaurant without paying and after a week we went back to discuss everything. The boss just shouted loudly and said people who don't have to pay are banned from the house. I can't understand why regular guests are no longer worth anything. It would be nice if the boss would comment on this. I was always a welcome guest and would continue to be.

A piece of Greece in the middle of Cologne! At Evia Griechen you can expect an authentic culinary experience that is second to none. The appetizer platter was a real treat and the waiters impressed us with their attentiveness and friendliness. You feel like you're on vacation here! A visit to the Evia Greek is definitely worth five stars!

We ordered something to pick up. The menu prices on the website are not current. A dish was 4 euros more expensive than stated. The food was held while driving and one dish still leaked completely, meaning the fries were no longer edible. There was hardly any sauce on the rice noodles, so the taste was unfortunately disappointing. The rest of the food tasted quite good, but the portions are very small. You could have saved yourself 2 small tubes of mayonnaise for 2 euros.

The lamb dish for €25 looked good, but wasn't seasoned at all. The meat was almost cooked through, even though I specifically ordered "English". That's why it didn't taste good at all!!! The second dish was too dry because it was served with far too little sauce. The red wine for €7.90 a glass was far too warm! We had to speak to 3 different employees before anything was brought to us. A drink wasn't served at all, but it was overpriced on the bill. Ultimately we had to complain about the bill again because a dish that we had neither ordered nor received was included. The staff is friendly but too scattered and forgetful. We weren't even asked whether we were satisfied or whether we enjoyed it. It was our second and DEFINITELY LAST VISIT!!!

It was my first time there... spinach pizza is full of plastic parts that honestly look like hair!!!!!. At the first spoonful of ice cream a piece of metal!!!!!! Nobody came and said sorry!!!! Never again. One star is too many

You have to like ice cubes in a soft drink, but you don't need them. Chairs are placed extremely close together. Ok for a quick meal. Salad plate as a side dish at the front seemed a bit greasy around the edge of the plate. Food was great and relatively ok. The air in the restaurant is moderate because cooking takes place here too. Although the outdoor area is completely sealed on all sides and above with foil in the spring (no breeze moves there), you are allowed to smoke there, which was really unnecessary for a restaurant. Service is quick and on point.

For our wedding anniversary we went to this Greek restaurant. The soup tasted good (rice with chopped bacon), rump steak with mushrooms in a cream sauce and fried potatoes wrapped in foil with tzatziki sauce. Plus mixed salad. We were at Evia's with 5 people on Easter Sunday evening. We had reserved the table in advance by phone. It wasn't mentioned that the normal menu wasn't valid, but rather a heavily reduced offer. Unfortunately, only one item on this special menu was vegetarian. There were no soups, hot or cold starters. Just a standard salad with every meal. The pizza menu was also not available. This was explained as “a lack of staff at Easter”. The food we ordered was good, the meat tasted good and the portions were large. And the friendliness of the waiters was also good - whoever was "our" waiter didn't reveal himself to us until the end, they took turns and unfortunately there was always no one in sight for a long time when you wanted to order something. The prices for the Easter selection were very strange. We downloaded the normal menu on the website as a PDF (unfortunately only afterwards) and compared it. The pork medallions normally cost 17.90 euros, on Easter Sunday 26.90 euros. Gyros with fries normally 11.90 euros, on Easter Sunday 20.90 euros. And every drink on Easter Sunday cost between 50 cents and one euro more than on the menu! The bottom line is that we paid 155 euros for 5 people - about 45 euros more than if we would have otherwise eaten there. If the prices were increased so much at Easter, we would definitely expect the entire menu (with starters!) and more ambience than just cutlery placed in a basket, etc. There was no festive setting. We were literally ripped off by the Easter prices - it's a shame we didn't see the normal menu when we got there. But the most disturbing thing about this restaurant is the fact that there is a covered terrace running the entire length of the restaurant - connected by a glass front. This was wide open on Easter Sunday, so that all the stench of smokers could happily permeate the (smoke-free) restaurant. It was also very loud and some pop music made the noise increase rhythmically. Conclusion: We were happy to be able to leave again, smelled of smoke and had to pay too much according to the normal menu. Never again!

So we were there on Easter Monday with 4 people. Then the holiday menu was taken out, everything was made 10 € more expensive, there was no salad in the dishes, even though it was on the menu, the service, the staff was nice, otherwise the food was good.

For example, gyros, fries and salad cost 11.90 euros Monday to Saturday and 20.90 euros on Sundays and public holidays. 0 stars It's outrageous that such a price increase on these days is justified and cannot be explained. 😠 Nobody would say anything against a moderate increase on these days. Sorry, that's usury 🤷‍♂️

In dem Lokal hat es uns immer schon geschmeckt, genau wie heute.. Allerdings hat das Restaurant 40% an den Preisen aufgeschlagen.. Portionen waren gleich groß und diesmal gab es sogar nur EINEN Ouzo. 24 Euro für einen normalen Gyros ist schon hart.

The food is okay, but the service is a disaster. Table for 8 people reserved 4 weeks in advance. There was no table available on the reserved date, probably occupied several times, because that was the case with a number of visitors who came after us, everyone stood around stupidly for a long time and the food was served continuously at the occupied tables. Everyone is hopelessly overwhelmed, the boss is very rude, doesn't say anything, just leaves you there and the employees have to sort it out somehow. We reserved the table for 6:00 p.m., then had a table at around 7:00 p.m. and drinks and food at 8:00 p.m. That's not possible, but if the store is so full every time, nothing will change, it's working. I think the boss's only concern here is that the cash register is well-stocked after closing time. There's nothing wrong with that if the rest is correct. The prices in the cards, which you can also look at online, are incorrect and are between 10 and 30 percent higher, with food and drinks. A glass of wine, for example, is listed as €6.00, but on the menu in the restaurant it's €7.90, for a glass of wine in a better chip shop, that's quite steep. I doubt whether I will go here again.

We were there on Saturday, I had the impression that it was full, but my companion and the group next to us were of the opinion that it was not that full. As usual, we ordered the drinks first, then the food. However, the salad and the small breads with butter came first. Drinks and food came almost at the same time. When we wanted to pay, the table next to us was waiting, according to their own statements, for "over 30 minutes" after they had informed us that they wanted to pay by card. All in all I thought it was ok. Maybe it was just that Saturday. But I will definitely come by again, on another day of the week.

We were there with the family and wanted to have a classic Greek meal. The menu is very extensive and definitely leans towards meat. The meat in all dishes was on point and quite excellent. The atmosphere is rather old-fashioned and a little dark, but absolutely ok. The service was super nice and attentive. The only negative point (for us): the main courses were very, very large. We also had starters and no one grabbed their main course. We will come back in any case!

Food is always okay. But sometimes it feels like it's too much effort for the boss to show you the table. The menu is handed to you like: Take it and don't bother me any more. Haven't been able to order a drink yet, but the main thing is that the dry rolls are put on the table. Not even a small bowl of tzatziki. After ages someone comes to ask for drinks. Even though the menu has long been closed on the table, it takes minutes until someone finally asks what they want. Really, the gyros plate is very tasty. Sure, you should rely on tradition, but all the loud Greek music is a bit annoying. But the highlight are the toilets, rarely seen anything so unpleasant. Clean is an exception. Take the ramp up to the back of Kaufland, from there you can see the back of the restaurant, it's like seeing a garbage dump. If that's what it looks like there, then you don't want to know whether the kitchen on the ground looks exactly like that. You used to get a quick drink before your meal, but apparently that's no longer possible. Maybe they don't earn enough from the Coke? Buy the 2 liter bottle on offer for 1.11 euros, then sell 10 glasses of 0.2 liters for 20.

Leider keine gute Erfahrung mit dem Essen für 3 Personen gemacht. Leber war hart, Spaghetti mit Spinat schmeckte nicht besonders, die Tintenfischringe leider daneben. Taramas und Zaziki waren okay, haben aber leider nicht mehr zum positiven Eindruck geführt. Ambiente leider etwas schmuddelig. Stühle teilweise abgesessen. Ich werde nicht mehr kommen.
