Very friendly service, incredibly reasonable prices, delicious and perfectly grilled meat, a generous plate plus soup and salad at a very affordable price – and all this in the heart of Cologne! Impressive! Highly recommended! We were in Merheim while buying a car and stumbled upon this restaurant by chance.

I've been to the restaurant so many times and have also invited friends over for dinner. It's always been good so far. Last Tuesday, my meal (lamb shoulder with fries) was served on a plate. The fries had soaked up the tomato sauce and were soggy. The lamb shoulder – because it wasn't served separately in a bowl – was cold – delicious! When the dish still cost €16.90, I thought it tasted better, as did the serving method. It's a shame. I always enjoyed my birthday there with friends. As a substitute – reheat the meat, add the sauce, and, as the highlight, a new portion of fries. Do you want that???? I wanted to spend my retirement there with colleagues. But unfortunately, my disappointment is too great.

We won't be returning. The food didn't taste good at all, and the atmosphere in the smoking area wasn't exactly enthralling. The waiters were also very inattentive.

Good food, bifteki. The liver could have been lighter, but it was crispy. Special requests were well catered for, and the service was friendly. The four-lane road with ambulances blaring gives the place a bit of a big-city feel, and the road is clearly visible from the terrace, so that's to be expected. Retsina is good, not too resinous. The couvert is delicious. I'd happily go back for a quick bite to eat.

Our first visit to Restaurante Evia was very positive, and we'll be happy to return. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff are all very friendly, and the portions are really large—in fact, they're enormous, perfect for very hungry guests. The prices are absolutely reasonable—we paid around €42.00 for a starter, two main courses, and two Kölsch beers. This included a large appetizer with herb butter and small rolls—provided by the house. It's also worth mentioning that the kitchen uses a front-cooking system, yet the restaurant doesn't have any unpleasant odors. We'd be happy to return.

Good restaurant with excellent service. We received a free soup and sandwiches beforehand, and only then did we place our order. The food was ready quickly and tasted great. Not traditionally Greek, but that was just fine for our children. It wasn't too expensive either. Perfect for our stopover on the way to our holiday destination.

The bifteki was a large meatball without salt or pepper, with something white scraped into it. It wasn't feta. It came with a dollop of tomato sauce and run-of-the-mill fries. Any Greek snack bar in Cologne can do it better and for less.

Great selection of drinks and food! Kids are welcome too! A raised hide is available! The lamb shoulder was very juicy and delicious! Unfortunately, they're out of house ouzo! What a shame! Otherwise, one of the few truly good Greek restaurants!

Very tasty, but the portions of the standard gyros are a bit small, but enough to fill you up.

Attentive servers, friendly, and courteous. The food was very tasty. The calamari was very good. (There's a lot you can do wrong there.) The ambiance was spoiled by a group of men (around 25-30, overdressed, with intrusive looks) who were loudly drowning out everything else while playing something on their phones for at least half an hour. (This was on a Friday.)

Was here for steak. The steak wasn't medium rare as requested, but it was still tender. Unfortunately you couldn't eat the herb butter with the steak. It is not seasoned and just tastes oily. The same butter is also served with the rolls at the beginning. Here too I can only say that the herb butter is bland. Dear Evia, Please serve a real herb butter with your steak.

There were 6 people there on Good Friday lunchtime on April 18, 2025. I had read in the reviews beforehand that there was a limited menu at Easter. That wasn't the case for us. At the beginning it was a bit chaotic and hectic, among other things they brought us rolls and the menu as soon as we sat down and then wanted to take food even though we hadn't even ordered drinks yet. Well, I thought, where did we end up here? After the initial somewhat chaotic beginning everything went perfectly, the service was really good and very attentive. The food was really great, although we stuck to something conventional and didn't really try Greek specialties. My husband and I had the marathon platter, then we had 2 x salmon fillets, 1 x gyros, 1 x Kritharaki. Everyone enjoyed it very much. The Marathon record, from what I can now judge, was a bomb. The only small criticism I have, even though the meat was juicy, was that I would have liked a dip like a tzatziki with it, since gyros were also included. By the way, the gyros were also fantastic and had nothing to do with the gyros I was used to in the grill. The portions were very large and every meal came with a salad, which wasn't exactly small either. The price-performance ratio was very good. What I particularly liked: When it was being cleared away, people automatically asked whether food should be packed because apart from one person, no one had even come close to finishing their portion. The salmon “leftovers” that were packed were really heavy, I dare say that my father and wife have 2 of them to eat at home. At the end there was an ouzo on the house. We paid 157 euros for a total of 6 people. So my husband and I were very enthusiastic about the food, and my husband spontaneously said: I would like to eat here again, even though we live 50 km away and rarely eat out. Not least because we find eating out very expensive and rarely find the value appropriate. But everything was there here: great food, large portions, good service, which also spreads a bit of flair from the mentality (take it easy). When it's full of excitement, things will definitely get louder here. We are happy and confident to recommend the restaurant...

We have been to the Greek restaurant "Evia", Olpener Straße 494 in Cologne-Höhenberg, several times - and have never been disappointed. The service is polite, funny and very attentive. As a starter there were fluffy house rolls with a buttery garlic cream. Afterwards we shared the slightly sour artichoke hearts (price at the time of our visit: 5.90 euros). They tasted great and the tzatziki with them was a real hit. Afterwards there was the classic gyros with fries and tzatziki (15.50 euros) and the Irodion plate with fries, gyros, a suflaki (grilled skewer), a suzuki (small minced meat roll) and two pieces of butter-tender liver from the grill, plus lots of onions (18.50 euros). Both dishes were delicious and very plentiful. The gyro was nice and crispy and still juicy. Everything else was also perfectly prepared, especially the liver was great. It was also wonderfully pink on the outside. Unfortunately you have to order tzatziki with the Irodion plate, otherwise it's all a bit dry. The drinks (Pils and Radler for 4.20 and 4 euros) came in 0.4 glass glasses. If you want smaller, you have to say so. But it didn't bother us. What bothered us - and a point was deducted for that - was that smoking was allowed in the almost closed winter garden, which the other guests also did plenty of. But the weather was too nice to sit inside, which was packed despite the early hour. Nevertheless: A pleasure that we would like to repeat.

Wir sind bereits mehrmals im griechischen Restaurant "Evia", Olpener Straße 494 in Köln-Höhenberg, gewesen - und wurden nie enttäuscht. Der Service ist höflich, lustig und sehr aufmerksam. Als Vor-Vorspeise gab es vom Haus fluffige Brötchen mit einer buttrigen Knoblauch-Creme. Danach haben wir uns die leicht säuerlichen Artischockenherzen geteilt (Preis zum Zeitpunkt unseres Besuchs: 5,90 Euro). Die haben super geschmeckt und der Tsatsiki dazu war ein echter Knaller. Danach gab es das klassische Gyros mit Pommes und Tsatsiki (15,50 Euro) und den Irodion-Teller mit Pommes, Gyros, einrn Suflaki (Grillspieß), einem Suzuki (kleine Hackfleischrolle) und zwei Stücken butterzarter Leber vom Grill, dazu viele Zwiebeln (18,50 Euro). Beide Tellergerichten waren megalecker und seeehr reichlich angerichtet. Das Gyros schön knusprig und trotzdem saftig. Alles andere ebenfalls perfekt zubereitet, vor allem die Leber war toll. Auch die war außen herrlich rösch. Leider muss man beim Irodion-Teller Tsatsiki hinzubestellen, sonst ist das alles etwas trocken. Die Getränke (Pils und Radler für 4,20 und 4 Euro) kamen gleich in 0,4-er-Gläsern. Wer kleiner will, muss es sagen. Hat uns aber nicht gestört. Was uns gestört hat - und dafür gibt es dann auch einen Punkt abgezogen - ist, dass im nahezu geschlossenen Wintergarten geraucht werden darf, was die anderen Gäste auch reichlich taten. Das Wetter aber war zu schön, um im Innenraum zu sitzen, der überdies trotz der frühen Zeit rappelvoll war. Dennoch: Ein Genuss, den wir gerne wiederholen.

Highly recommended, very tasty there

The food was OK. But during our visit (03/25/25, 4:00 p.m.) it was louder than at Cologne Central Station due to a group of bawling adults and screaming children. Many guests just shook their heads at the noise. My wife's plate was cleared even though I was still eating. There wasn't the usual ouzo either. No more Evia for the time being...

The restaurant is definitely recommended! If you call to pick it up, the food is always ready within 15 minutes and is of great quality. Very friendly staff! Eating on site is also fun because the waiters are very attentive. The ambience is certainly not the fanciest, but in this case it is absolutely negligible because the food and service are everything. Also recommended for vegetarians.

Good gyros at good prices! Unfortunately I didn't really like the atmosphere. The restaurant doesn't invite you to linger. Unfortunately, the music is also very loud, so much so that you almost have to shout at each other. But service was very friendly and accommodating.

I can't rate much here since I only get gyros to go a few times a year. And it's really good. Juicy and not greasy. The portions are generous and the order is completed quickly.

We have been eating here for many years and have our favorite dishes here. My children often went to school here with grandma and grandpa, very family-like when you know the people and they are always friendly.

I have been a regular guest for over 20 years and have always been a welcome guest, but we complained once and now we are banned from the house. We had reserved a table and at the beginning it was like always, then foreign citizens came who were consuming drugs in the restaurant and had a music box with them. We asked the boss whether he thought this was normal and whether he could stop it or whether it would be right for us to leave the restaurant. I asked what we had to pay and he didn't give me an answer. We then left the restaurant without paying and after a week we went back to discuss everything. The boss just shouted loudly and said people who don't have to pay are banned from the house. I can't understand why regular guests are no longer worth anything. It would be nice if the boss would comment on this. I was always a welcome guest and would continue to be.

A piece of Greece in the middle of Cologne! At Evia Griechen you can expect an authentic culinary experience that is second to none. The appetizer platter was a real treat and the waiters impressed us with their attentiveness and friendliness. You feel like you're on vacation here! We ordered something to pick up. The menu prices on the website are not current. A dish was 4 euros more expensive than stated. The food was held while driving and one dish still leaked completely, meaning the fries were no longer edible. There was hardly any sauce on the rice noodles, so the taste was unfortunately disappointing. The rest of the food tasted quite good, but the portions are very small. You could have saved yourself 2 small tubes of mayonnaise for 2 euros.

The lamb dish for €25 looked good, but wasn't seasoned at all. The meat was almost cooked through, even though I specifically ordered "English". That's why it didn't taste good at all!!! The second dish was too dry because it was served with far too little sauce. The red wine for €7.90 a glass was far too warm! We had to speak to 3 different employees before anything was brought to us. A drink wasn't served at all, but it was overpriced on the bill. Ultimately we had to complain about the bill again because a dish that we had neither ordered nor received was included. The staff is friendly but too scattered and forgetful. We weren't even asked whether we were satisfied or whether we enjoyed it. It was our second and DEFINITELY LAST VISIT!!!

You have to like ice cubes in a soft drink, but you don't need them. Chairs are placed extremely close together. Ok for a quick meal. Salad plate as a side dish at the front seemed a bit greasy around the edge of the plate. Food was great and relatively ok. The air in the restaurant is moderate because cooking takes place here too. Although the outdoor area is completely sealed on all sides and above with foil in the spring (no breeze moves there), you are allowed to smoke there, which was really unnecessary for a restaurant. Service is quick and on point.
