This was our first time at Restaurant Ercklentz, and we will definitely be back! Lunch was the perfect way to round off a relaxing shopping trip in Kempen. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The menu was small, which we appreciated; we had herring salad, truffle ravioli with filet tips, and Wiener Schnitzel.

I don't understand why this restaurant is listed with "only" 4.5 stars at the time of writing this review. Restaurant Ercklentz combines attentive service, a pleasant atmosphere, and delicious food in a refreshing way that my family and I thoroughly enjoyed. We were able to converse without any problems and enjoyed our meal to the fullest, from the appetizer to the dessert. The à la carte menu was well-chosen, with options to suit a wide range of tastes. Especially for someone like me, who would describe himself as a "picky eater," everything was more than satisfactory. We would definitely return.

If you're looking for a good meal in Kempen, this is the place to go. I had Lower Rhine Sauerbraten for the first time and I highly recommend it! The tiramisu is also delicious.

On Friday, December 5, 2025, we had lunch at Ercklentz as a group of five adults and one two-year-old child, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was excellent, welcoming, and very friendly. They were also very kind to my daughter and had a great children's menu, so I felt comfortable bringing my children along. There was plenty of choice for lunch, and I ultimately chose the Heringsstip auf Hausfrauenart. In short, Ercklentz is definitely worth a visit.

We've only been there in the evenings so far (and were always very satisfied). Today we tried the lunch menu. Herring stew with fried potatoes and a small mixed salad. Everything was delicious, quick, and inexpensive. Perfect. It's also a great place to have lunch. The terrace on Judenstrasse is always good for people-watching. We enjoyed our break... :-)

We ate at Ercklentz for the first time on an early Friday evening. I was a bit disappointed 😞. The service was attentive but not sufficiently helpful. My mother had the burger 🍔. She ordered mayonnaise, which was never served but was listed on the bill. I had the fish with saffron risotto. The fish and meat were very good. But the risotto was overcooked. I mentioned this when paying, and it was tolerated. I had actually expected something different for such an expensive meal. What a shame.

The good news first: our meal was delicious, had a convincing flavor with many well-matched flavors, and was very attractively presented... Definitely a reason to come back! BUT: The wait for the appetizer (bread, dip, olives) was almost 40 minutes, far too long for a Saturday lunchtime at 12:00 PM. We were particularly irritated by the different portion sizes of the same dish (roast beef, fried potatoes, salad). One portion contained 9 large slices of roast beef, the other 6 small slices of roast beef, even though we hadn't ordered a senior's plate or a small portion. Perhaps experience shows that women eat smaller portions. Nevertheless, for the same price, the same amount of the dish should be on the plate, or it should be clarified BEFORE serving whether a smaller portion at a lower price is desired. This is standard practice in many restaurants, as is the weight of the expected amount of meat or fish. There's room for improvement in terms of service and customer focus. Despite these criticisms, we'll be back, as the food was truly delicious and the chef impressed us.

Dinner for four. Ordered à la carte, no special requests. After a two-hour wait, still no main course! Even the starter arrived very late, after many tables whose guests had arrived later than us had already been served. When we asked about the progress of the main courses almost two hours after our arrival, we were told it was because of the starter. This had caused us to slip back in the order queue. However, other tables were served before us, even after starters. Not a credible argument; it makes you feel like you're being taken for a fool. We left the restaurant without a main course. Major organizational and communication problems! Not recommended, especially not when you're hungry.

On our way back from the Krickenbeck Lakes, we stumbled upon this place purely by chance and were absolutely thrilled. The ravioli were the best I've ever had in a restaurant. The burger and fries were also absolutely fantastic. The service was very attentive, so we'll definitely be back if we ever find ourselves in Kempen again.

We were there for the first time and had come from Cologne. The six of us sat nicely indoors and had ordered an antipasti plate as a starter and no elaborate main courses (curry sausage with fries, pike-perch fillet with potatoes and oven-roasted vegetables and asparagus with salmon and potatoes. However, we had to wait just over two hours for these, without a status message coming in between, let alone asking for new drinks. The plates were then nicely arranged, the temperature... well and that Quality was delicious, but nothing that blew us away after the wait.

Four of us were at the Ercklentz Restaurant for Valentine's Day. We were assigned a table in the Stübchen (a very nicely redesigned area of ​​the restaurant). We spent a very nice evening there with a fantastic meal. Particularly worthy of mention was the menu offered for Valentine's Day. Like the other dishes, it was super tasty. The dishes were beautifully presented and served hot by attentive service. We felt very comfortable there all around. It was a perfect evening. We'll be back. :-)

On February 15th the restaurant was actually very busy and the service took a little longer than usual. But the friendly Service Kraft had already communicated this in advance - so no problem👍 As always, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you leave negative reviews here, you should probably just go to the kebab shop - the food is guaranteed to be there in 10 minutes😉

We were there during the St. Valentine holidays and the restaurant was super busy, a lot of people. During the trips, in a new city, it is the first sign that helps you to understand that the quality of the food and service would be at the good level. Eventhough we had to wait a bit longer for our food and drinks (we were told in advance about it), it did not spoil our overall experience. The most important thing - the food was very tasty, ambiance is nice, and service was at the top level. I would recommend it !

On the occasion of my birthday we had dinner at Haus Ercklentz with 6 of our favorite people. It was a great evening for us. The service staff were very attentive and the lovingly prepared food was plentiful and delicious. We went home with a comfortable feeling. Thank you to the entire team.

Unfortunately an absolute disappointment. The service left a lot to be desired - we had to wait a full 20 minutes before anyone even took our order. The drinks also came way too late and the waitress kept making us sit for a long time with empty glasses. We were only able to order more after asking several times, but it took another half an hour until the drinks finally arrived. The food was a disaster. We waited over an hour and a half for three dishes. When we asked if it would take a long time because otherwise we would have to cancel and just pay for the drinks, we were told several times “It will come immediately”. In the end we would have been better off canceling it. The quality was poor: the fries were almost raw, the veal was far too brown and definitely not freshly breaded. The steak, which was ordered rare, arrived almost cooked through. Absolutely unacceptable for the long waiting time and the price. We definitely won't eat here again.

We were warmly welcomed here and our dog was immediately welcomed and given a bowl of fresh water. Class! The food was exceptional, the veal liver was tender as butter, with crispy onions, glazed apples, homemade puree and two wonderfully spicy sauces - a dream! We also liked the historic, cozy atmosphere and the friendly service was quick, friendly and attentive. We would love to come back!
