We were drawn to the village chronicle thanks to a positive review. We had reserved a table and were immediately greeted in an inappropriate tone, telling them we should have let them know that we were one person short. That may be true, but sometimes it's due to circumstances, and the tone makes all the difference. A polite greeting definitely looks different. Professional service, too. When we pointed out that we could leave if we were no longer welcome, we were just as rudely asked to leave. A restaurant of this category should be able to handle this situation professionally and, above all, politely. Be that as it may, we won't be returning guests and can't recommend it.

My wife and I were looking forward to a pleasant evening with good food. After five minutes, we left the village chronicle somewhat annoyed and, of course, won't be returning. The owner, who showed us to our table, has an unbelievable manner! When I politely asked if she had another table for us, because the one we were assigned was only a few centimeters away from the table next to us, she replied in a very harsh tone: "That's just how it is with us. The others are all reserved." When I pointed out that I found her manner a bit unfriendly, she cynically answered with: "Oh, you already find me unfriendly?" This suggests that other guests may have only noticed her unfriendliness later. The owner spoiled our good mood, although my wife and I aren't particularly sensitive about it. We then drove to the restaurant "Zur Kanne" in Deidesheim and had a wonderful evening there! The food there is also known to be very good, and the people are welcoming and friendly, creating a "feel-good atmosphere." NOTE (in response to the "Dorfchronik" review): The assigned table was not the decisive issue. The decisive factor in leaving the restaurant was the manager's harsh, unfriendly tone, which spoiled our good mood. There are also reviews from other visitors that point to this fact. But for us, the incident is over. We won't be going there again.

Where should I take guests for my birthday? For the village chronicle! It's a shame it's not my birthday every day. From the welcome to the ambiance, the service to the farewell, everything was impeccable. The quality and presentation of the dishes (burrata, vitello 2.0, salsiccia, involtini, chateaubriand, sea bass, tiramisu) are also beyond reproach. Excellent! We really enjoy coming here. We've been to the Schneider Restaurant in Dernbach and our parents' house in Dernbach several times. Very welcoming, super delicious, we'd love to come back. We recommend the Chateaubriand, and it's best to pre-order.

An old, cozy inn. We were a bit unsure at first because the overall price was higher than expected. But then we realized it was truly worth the money. The dishes were imaginative, delicious, and beautifully presented. Unusual creations, such as the black pudding quiche, sounded disgusting, but it was delicious! The home-grown wines are highly recommended; our favorite was a dry barrique cuvée. Be sure to make an early reservation, as seating is limited in the cozy dining room.

Here, your taste buds celebrate Carnival... an unbeatable vitello tonnato. My eyes were actually teary-eyed after tasting it for the first time. Excellent service, that's what fine dining should be. It was an experience, and we'll be back.

The wait for the next course is very long, with a long gap between inquiries about whether you need anything else (2.5 hours for three courses). If you're hungry or thirsty, you'll need a lot of patience. Otherwise, the food is excellent, but for the prices, I expect better service. I wouldn't recommend it.

The vitello tonnato was fantastic, the venison was cooked to perfection, tasted amazing, and to finish, the tiramisu was served from a large bowl in a southern Italian ceramic dish. We had a fantastic evening! We sat outside in the cozy courtyard. The food was, as always, excellent. The starters are creative, the pasta dishes are pure soul food with a high level of sophistication (it's great that you can order smaller portions and there are vegetarian options). The desserts are the crowning glory (tiramisu or seasonal creations, always beautifully balanced between sweet and acidic). The red wine that was recommended to us was a hit. Miki's relaxed and friendly manner makes you feel at ease and like you're visiting friends.

I highly recommend this place. As a Hamburg native, I've had to pay a lot for bad food and poor staff. The price/performance ratio is perfect. The food is incredibly delicious. The apprentices are integrated and are learning how to perfect themselves. They'll get a Michelin star in 2021. You should get it again! Everyone is treated wonderfully. I left a generous tip, and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

The best restaurant in Maikammer and the surrounding area. A seasonal menu, as well as a la carte options, is available. Super friendly hosts, a well-coordinated kitchen team. The dishes are beautifully presented. Excellent meat quality, authentic pasta dishes, and the desserts are top-notch (be sure to try the tiramisu).

Dear “Püngeler” team Our first visit to you today was a complete success. High-quality food combined with first-class service and a tasteful ambience. This is how well-kept gastronomy works. We'll see each other more often in the future.

Perhaps the expectations were "high", the fact is that we don't feel like promoting the place. We understand that Easter is a special day but 3 hours for a 3-course lunch is really excessive, biblical waiting times despite the service being facilitated by the menu. Dishes with more lows than highs, lots of confusion and one certainty, the dessert is really good. Courteous service but with shortcomings, if I order a glass of wine I expect it to be poured at the table and not for the glass with the wine to arrive without even seeing the bottle. The beautiful location deserves an improvement in cuisine and service which we hope will be available. ADDED AFTER THE RESTAURANT'S RESPONSE A few small clarifications need to be made... there were 3 different menus but the starter on menu 1 was the same as that on 3 and the dessert on menu 2 was the same as that on 3. Among other things, NO ONE has changed the menu as the restaurant says in response. 1 hour per serving is really excessive, if you then eat the finished product the quality wasn't worth the wait. If you are not able to manage service times, perhaps it is better to make a single menu. As for the wine not being poured at the table, it has never happened to me personally that the bottle is not shown and in a place where there is a "scene" by not leaving the bottle at the table but by giving a type of service with the waiter filling the glasses I certainly expect something different.

On Easter Monday at lunchtime with our grandchildren in the village chronicle. Very warm welcome from the boss Michaela, very detailed advice on menu selection, 4 menus to choose from, dishes were top-class gastronomic quality, and the accompanying wines for each course were also excellently matched. Despite the holiday rush, the service was remarkably friendly and attentive; we were particularly impressed by the owner with her warmth and professionalism. Pleasant restaurant on a traffic-calmed street. Attractive menu, relaxed atmosphere. Kitchen and service master their craft. We had two four courses and one three course à la carte. The fish was juicy, the meat was cooked to perfection, the side dishes were perfectly balanced and rounded off the dishes. The dessert was a work of art in itself. A lovely evening that definitely makes you want to repeat it.

We were here for the first and certainly not the last time. Very friendly, courteous service - not intrusive, but always present. The dishes taste excellent, the products are of very good quality and what is presented on the plate is proof that craftsmanship meets passion here. Great. It should also be emphasized that - despite the restaurant being full - the younger guests are always taken into consideration and no effort is spared to put a smile on their faces.

The three of us had dinner in the village chronicle in the evening. The map is sufficient and everyone can find something. As a starter, two types of tuna, surf and turf (both very good quality ingredients and very tasty) and spaghetti carbonara (original recipe, pasta al dente and hot at the table). As the main course, Involtini - to our surprise, fried in breading - but tasted very good and tender, as well as very tender rump steaks with delicious Parmesan truffle fries. The tiramisu, which was served directly by the chef from a large bowl, was also sensational - the temperature was also perfect, not directly from the refrigerator, as it is unfortunately usually served! We tried four different open wines, all very good - although the price was a bit high for the Palatinate. The entire team knows their craft, we would be happy to come back. The entrees, two types of tuna and goose liver mousse, were inspiring and promised a lot for the evening, and indeed, the high standards continued (see menu in the photo gallery). Highly recommended! The wine list is good, offering not only wines from Maikammer, but also from Godramstein, Münzberg, and Birkweiler, Gies-Düppel, among others. We'll be back.

Every dish was perfectly prepared and I simply loved it. And the highlight: the homemade tiramisu! Simply unbeatable! My Italian Nonna couldn't have done it better - it was the perfect end to a perfect evening. I can absolutely recommend this restaurant! Everything is just right here – from the quality of the food to the service to the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!
