Restaurant Don Marcello in Krefeld

Pizza sehr gut, Salat mangelhaft, sehr freundliche Bedienung. Vertrocknet Pflanzen im Kübel. Der Olivenbaum schreit zum Himmel. Schulterzucken.

Super Lokation, leider völlig überforderte Mitarbeiter die einen entweder nicht richtig verstehen oder denen einfach die Kompetenz fehlt richtig zu arbeiten. Die Getränke waren teilweise warm weil es wohl versäumt wurde am Abend die Kühlschränke zu füllen. Die bestellte Pizza war verbrannt, dementsprechend total vertrocknet und hat nichtssagend geschmeckt, dafür aber sehr teuer. Die Tische wurden nicht abgeräumt und die Ablage wurde erst abgeräumt, nachdem man dort nichts mehr hinstellen konnte. Alles in allem sehr unorganisiert und der Chef scheint sich trinkend und rauchend eher dafür zu interessieren mit den Gästen zu quatschen als das sein Laden richtig läuft. Schön war allerdings der Sonnenuntergang.

Gelockt von den vielen guten Bewertungen, haben wir uns auf einen gemütlichen (Sonntag) Abend mit leckerem Essen gefreut. Service: Es war nicht leer, aber auch nicht voll. Der Service war freundlich aber leider auch überfordert. Bestellungen wurden mehrfach zu anderen Tischen gebracht, auch um uns herum wurden immer wieder falsche Getränke und Speisen an die Tische gebracht. Essen: Eine Pizza und Spaghetti aglio e olio e Peperoncino + Garnelen und Cherry Tomaten. Leider ohne Peperoncino und ohne Tomaten gekommen. Mit 6 Garnelchen den fehlenden Zutaten, am Öl maximal vorbeigelaufen, verbranntem Knoblauch und für knapp 22€ eine echte Enttäuschung. Ich hätte gerne Bescheid gesagt, wurde aber weder während noch nach dem Essen gefragt, wie es war. Die Pizza war in Ordnung. Wir hatten sicherlich nur Pech und werden es in Zukunft erneut versuchen. Die Location ist super.

Das Essen ist gut. Die Preise sind absolut okay. Aber der Service: Sobald die Terrasse für den Abend weitgehend reserviert ist, wird einem bereits 2 bis 3 Stunden vorher brüsk gesagt, dass man heute nichts essen kann. Die Bedienung ist einfach zu bequem, einige Tische für den Nachmittag freizugeben. Unflexibel und unprofessionell. Es gibt auf der Terrasse nur wenige Tische, die von den Sonnenschirmen vollständig beschattet sind. Sie wirkt insgesamt ziemich lieblos.

Leider kein Essen bekommen-nach einer Stunde Warten auf einen Vorspeisenteller haben wir aufgegeben und ihn abbestellt. Aber die Aussicht war gut.

Sorry gestern den Biergarten spontan besucht… im Gegensatz zu den Besuchen im Restaurant leider bei wenig Betrieb auf überforderte Mitarbeiter gestoßen… Gläser und Geschirr stapelten sich… während ganz viele Mitarbeiter sich nett und unterhielten aber wenig Interesse an den Gästen zeigten…;-((

Das Essen war sehr lecker. Wir hatten Nudeln und Pizza. Die Pizza war groß und knusprig, die Nudeln waren perfekt und alles war lecker. Auch auf die kleinen Extrawünsvhe unseres Sohnes wurde eingegangen. Er hat auch was zum malen bekommen und der Kellner war sehr nett. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren heute das erste Mal mit dem Schlemmerblock hier Essen. Das Essen war einfach TOP! Wir hatten Pizza a la Vitello Tonato und gefüllte Gnochi mit Riesengarnelen an einer Trüffelsoße. Beide Gerichte wurden nach der Bestellung schnell zubereitet und haben sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Service war auch sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Also alles in allem auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Bei schönem Wetter kann außerdem die großzügige Terasse einen schönen Blick auf den kleinen Sportflughafen bieten. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall gern wieder! Daher 5 Sterne.

Relativ neues Restaurant, hat noch ein paar Organisations-Probleme, aber Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich, locker und offen und das Essen (wir hatten Pasta und Pizza) seeeehr lecker!

Ehrlich gesagt bin ich ein ziemlich anspruchsvoller Gast und als Ausländer in Krefeld nur schwer zu begeistern - meistens enttäuschen mich die lokalen Lokale beim Service oder der Anrichtung der Speisen. Und die Lage direkt am Flugplatz mit dieser faszinierenden Aussicht ist einfach ein Traum. 10 von 10 Punkten, ich komme definitiv wieder!

Das Essen war einfach hervorragend – mit viel Liebe zubereitet, frisch, authentisch und voller italienischer Lebensfreude. Marcello ist ein absoluter Herzensmensch. Das absolute Highlight ist jedoch der Sonnenuntergang. Während man ein köstliches Essen und ein gutes Glas Wein genießt, taucht die untergehende Sonne alles in ein wunderschönes goldenes Licht. Dieser Ausblick ist einfach magisch und macht den Abend zu etwas ganz Besonderem. Ein Ort zum Genießen, Entspannen und Glücklichsein. Wir kommen garantiert wieder und können dieses Restaurant von Herzen weiterempfehlen! ❤️

Der Service war zwar sehr freundlich aber überfordert. Wir haben nach der Bestellung 1 1/2 Stunden aufs Essen gewartet.

Ein Mal und nie wieder! Lasagne ist aus 🤣 der Rest dauert ewig. Aperitiv kommt endlich mit fast vollständig geschmolzenen Eiswürfeln. Service genervt und unfreundlich. Voll ist der Laden aber nicht. An den Nebentischen ist ein ähnliches Desaster zu beobachten. Qualität des Essens Mittelmaß, jedoch teuer. Fernbleiben ist die einzige Empfehlung, die man hier geben kann.

Wir waren an einem Sonntagnachmittag mit der Familie da und haben auf der Außenfläche kleine Vorspeisen und Pizza gegessen. Das Essen war lecker, der Service nett, aber sehr, sehr langsam, obwohl es nicht wirklich voll war. Nach mehrfachem Nachfragen haben wir ein Gericht aufgegeben. Nicht alle Tische draußen haben Sonnenschutz, darauf sollte man sich einstellen. Eher störend an dem idyllischen Ort fanden wir die dröhnende Mucke, die sich bei schwankender Internet-Verbindung auch noch aufhängte, ohne dass sich jemand kümmerte. Wir werden wohl nicht wiederkommen.

Super gemütliche und warme Atmosphäre. Man merkt einfach die Menschlichkeit und Leidenschaft hinter dem Restaurant – genau das macht den Laden besonders. Alle waren total herzlich und man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Wirklich sehr empfehlenswert👍

Sehr gutes Essen, bin extra ca. 40 Minuten dorthin gefahren. Für die Kinder ist sogar ein kleiner Spielplatz da und ein Flugplatz ist auch da. Meine Kids haben riesige Augen gemacht, als die Propellermaschinen gelandet und gestartet sind. Ambiente war super. Essen super. Service super. Immer wieder gerne.

Überfordert, Personell unterbesetzt, lustlos oder betriebsblind und desorganisiert… Anders kann ich mir die Gründe für das Chaos beim Bestellvorgang und deren Umsetzung nicht erklären. Tische nicht abgeräumt, umherfliegender Müll aus überfüllten Mülltonnen, schmutzige Tische nicht zwischengereinigt werden und eine recht schmuddelig wirkende Fritierstation/Getränkeausgabe laden nicht zum verweilen ein. Schade, das war mal anders und die Lage hätte mehr verdient.

Da wir nur im Biergarten gesessen haben war für uns mit unserem bestellten Speisen und Getränke alles in Ordnung. Im hinteren Bereich des Restaurants kann man sich niederlassen drinnen wie draußen um Pizzen und Pasta zu essen. Da wir dort aber nichts verzehrt haben können wir dazu keine Angaben machen.

Für mich – und auch für meine Familie – ist es nicht nur entscheidend, was auf dem Teller liegt, sondern welches Gefühl ein Ort vermittelt. Dieses Restaurant schafft genau das: eine Atmosphäre, in der man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Man spürt Herzlichkeit, Aufmerksamkeit und eine echte Wertschätzung gegenüber den Gästen. Es ist ein Ort, an dem man gerne verweilt, lacht, spricht und einfach sein darf. Das Essen ist dabei selbstverständlich rundum lecker, ehrlich zubereitet und mit Liebe serviert. Aber das Besondere ist das Gesamtbild: Hier geht es nicht nur um Gastronomie, sondern um Gemeinschaft. Ein Ort, an den man nicht nur wegen des Essens zurückkommt – sondern wegen des Gefühls. Spontan zum ersten mal dort gewesen. Saßen am "Katzentisch" im Vorraum. Das hat dem Abend, Service und Essen keinen Abbruch getan. Tolle Gastgeber, ein Koch, der nach seinen Gästen schaut und fragt, ob alles gut war. Ein Chef und seine Cousine, die uns mit Rat und Tat zur Seite standen und jeden Wunsch von den Augen abgelesen haben. Und dann kamen noch die Hauptgänge und Nachtische. Ein Traum. Pasta auf den Punkt und Omas Tiramisu zum Abschluss mindestens so köstlich wie der Barrique Grappa. Macht bitte weiter so, da kann und muss jeder Gast darüber hinwegsehen können, dass die WCs draußen sind und modernisierungsbedürftig. Drinnen habt ihr ein ganz tolles Ambiente geschaffen!!! Macht bitte weiter so. Ihr habt zwei neue Gäste dazugewonnen.

Eine TOP Empfehlung für Qualitativ hochwertiges Essen und hochwertige Zutaten. Im Winter kann man schön im Innenbereich auch mit großen Gruppen sitzen, im Sommer ist der Außenbereich mit Self-Service oder ganz normal a la carte geöffnet. Ein großer Spielplatz für Kinder der dieses Jahr erneuert wird, runden das Angebot besonders für Familien ab, da wir kaum etwas finden mit einem Spielplatz. Man fühlt sich hier sehr wohl, die Atmosphäre ist locker und Freundschaftlich untereinander zwischen Gästen und Gastronomen. Das ist genau der Grund, warum so viele Gäste den Weg zum Egelsberg und Don Marcello finden. Dieses Restaurant hat einfach die BESTE Lage in ganz Krefeld und Umgebung. Jeden Abend in den warmen Monaten, gibt es hier den schönsten Sonnenuntergang. Segelflugzeuge gleiten über den Flugplatz, während man ein Erfrischungsgetränk und etwas mediterranes isst. Wir waren das erste Mal dort mit Freunden. Service sehr gut,freundlich. Chef selber kam auch öfters zum Tisch. Vorspeisen verschiedene sehr lecker, frisch. Pizza top,mega. Groß, toll Belegt. Nudeln mit Garnelen geschmacklich top. Frisches Brot mit leckerer Aioli vorab. Preise in Ordnung. Ambiente nicht wie vielleicht bei manchen anderen Italiener. Aber sauber.

Been there twice. The pizza rolls were hard and black, and the aioli tasted like yogurt with a dollop of aioli. Some of the fries were undercooked and cold. The beer garden, playground, and kitchen (snack bar?) were broken, dirty, and run-down. The beer was tasty, but the glass was a bit dirty...

A wonderful discovery. A restaurant in the small local airfield. Italian cuisine. With quality and delicious ingredients. Traditional trattoria cuisine. More than reasonably priced. A great place.

It's lovely to sit outside on the terrace and watch the airfield. Unfortunately, the chairs aren't very comfortable for people with back problems. The staff is very friendly, cheerful, and attentive. The food is also delicious. You should definitely reserve a table in advance. The price is the same as for any other Italian restaurant. There's also plenty of parking, either directly in front of the restaurant or a few meters away.

We ended up at Egelsberg again yesterday. At Don Marcello, I had a steak for the first time in a very long time, and it was cooked to perfection. That's how I like my meat. It was tender, fresh, and delicious. The service accommodated my special requests without any problems. Everyone was delightful and attentive. That won't be my last steak.

The food is great, the service is inexperienced and overwhelmed. A lot of work needs to be done in terms of cleanliness and organization. The beer garden has room for improvement, but I'm hopeful, because they're more than willing to try. The restrooms are borderline poor! We'd definitely be back! Thank you very much.

Great atmosphere, especially outside on the terrace in the summer. Service was very fast and friendly. Chilled Moretti beer fresh from the tap. The food (salad, pizza, pasta) was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The price/performance ratio wasn't quite right. Perhaps we were just unlucky; better try it for yourself.

The location and the food are top-notch. Unfortunately, I wasn't that satisfied with the service. They brought me the wrong dish. It was brought back, and again, the wrong one came. Annoying, but it was still delicious. For the starter, we asked if the antipasti plate would feed two people. We were told it would feed three. More like just one person... Bread wasn't even served, even though we were told it would. Nevertheless, we'll be back because of the delicious food.

It feels like a different tenant every year, and to be honest, never a really good one. If it turns out that this restaurant has now been taken over by a truly excellent Italian restaurant, according to the reviews, then we'll definitely give it another chance this summer. Yesterday, however, it really wasn't great. Above all, the playground is completely dilapidated (we pointed this out) and dangerous, with trash and glasses everywhere in the flowerbeds, an unkempt lawn, neglected flower boxes, and, unfortunately, the tables outside are sticky. The benches and chairs also desperately need cleaning. The selection at the kiosk is at least still very limited. The coffee is okay, and you shouldn't have to smell the grease from the fries so much. Maybe the timing was just bad, but it's mid-May... nice weather is expected. We really hope the new tenants can get this under control, because it's simply a great destination. So... we visited again and we were pleasantly surprised. Really good pizza and, above all, a really good atmosphere. Nice people, staff, and guests, music, and the weather were great too. We'll be back, and then the grandchildren will be having a blast on the playground. I think this has a really good chance of success for the first time in a very long time! We're very happy. Great pizza, delicious lasagna, and the best salad. Everything was excellent. When it's busy, the staff is a bit understaffed, but the service is very friendly.

We were there with our little daughter and had a very nice evening. The food was delicious, we didn't have to wait long, the waitress was very nice, great atmosphere. All in all, highly recommended!

!!Attention Watch out!! New owner and this year. So don't take all the reviews before 2025 too seriously! Went there for the third time today and a lot has happened, after a long time the long-awaited operating area is back. There are more staff at the front in the beer garden and they are super friendly. Prices are completely reasonable, and the pizza we ate there today was simply great. The beer garden is still being designed a lot, as I've heard, so it's ideal for families with the playground where the kids can move around freely. We will still test the operating area, but what we could see looked very good. Thank you for being able to enjoy delicious food and the beautiful weather there again. However, I hope that the opening times in the BEER GARTEN will change to benefit flight operations and guests who walk past it every day. Please keep it up ♥️

2025/03 Beer garden: Girls behind the bar are mercilessly overwhelmed! Don't understand the orders, calculate incorrectly! Cold currywurst, fries taste like dishwater, mayo drowns the food! And bad Italian hits are booming out of the loudspeaker in an obtrusive and loud manner!

We were here completely by chance during our dog walk. We actually just wanted to drink a little wine, which was VERY DELICIOUS. The bruschetta and pizza rolls were OUTSTANDING, the service was super friendly and accommodating. We are VERY satisfied and will definitely come back!

Super tasty pizza. Can only be recommended! In summer the ambience is definitely a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately, one point deducted because the service is very friendly but unfortunately not at all well-established. (No bread at the table, no napkin with the chilled wine bottle and we were asked by 3 different waiters if we had already ordered food, but we were still ordering drinks 2 seconds before) But that will definitely change in a few months when everything has settled down. The boss was also present every now and then and went to a few tables, which we thought was really great. So overall, absolutely recommended! We'll be back!

Super good experience. The food was fresh and tasted very good. The landlord Marcello is very warm and from Calabria. When the many candles were lit it became romantic. There are always great dishes off the menu. Tomatoes and rocket from southern Italy tasted like you were on vacation. Offner wine Lugana was very good.

Is it open sometimes, or permanently closed? I've been there several times, and it's always closed. The snack bar says it's out, then it's on vacation, etc....???? What's going on?

Local excursion destination with beautiful surroundings

One of the best Italian restaurants in Krefeld. We are regulars here. The food tastes phenomenal and the atmosphere is always super warm. Marcello is a great host. We always look forward to the delicious food. Good and fair price-performance ratio. Totally recommended for families, as there is a playground right next to it.

First of all, it must be pointed out that this is not a review of the Don Marcello restaurant. But rather an evaluation of the snack bar/outdoor catering at the Egelsberg airfield with a playground. Last year this snack bar/outdoor dining was run by someone else. Apparently the operator changes every few years and none lasts long. It's a shame, but partly understandable. This is definitely a session business, despite the adjoining restaurant. But it's strange that the operator changes so often. So far it's been a mediocre snack bar. You couldn't expect much. It's a shame, because the number of visitors is always quite high in summer, if only because of the great playground and the glider airfield. But today we found a place that, sorry... was just bad. Garbage everywhere you looked! Under the tables, on the playground there was rubbish and broken glasses, in front of the kiosk there was an open rubbish bin and the rubbish was flying everywhere. Then it smelled terribly like old grease. The coffee just wasn't good. And apart from fries, currywurst and ice cream there is nothing else on offer. But the highlight is the broken wooden plane. Rotten, broken and with detached nails. An absolute risk of injury. We hope the new operator has closed everything there after we informed us? Last year it was at least clean, even if the restaurant wasn't a highlight, but today we decided not to visit this restaurant again in the near future. I really hope that the new operator will bring the store into shape and run it for longer than 2 or 3 years. But for that to happen, a lot has to change and improve. Sorry that the rating is so bad, but it has to be made known, otherwise nothing will change.

Yesterday after a long time we visited the beer garden at Egelsberg airfield and we were surprised. A new Italian took over the catering and there was also indoor dining in the beer garden. What was positive was not only the friendly staff but also the very tasty food (pizza and pasta dishes). The new gastronomic offering makes this beer garden an even nicer place to linger, especially at the end of the day and on weekends. Above all, parents can eat here in peace while the children can let off steam in the playground. Fries, currywurst and other small items are still offered in the beer garden. We had a completely successful evening in one of the most beautiful places in Krefeld. We wish the new Don Marcello restaurant all the best and many new, satisfied visitors.

The kiosk will be active again in the summer. There are fries and currywurst. The prices are ok, the portion of fries is not overly large. It's served in plastic plates, which is a shame... The atmosphere at the airfield is great!

The cafe / snack bar with playground is usually open from 12:00 (except Mondays).

We visited the restaurant for the first time this week and we will definitely be back. Good service, fair prices and really great Italian food!!

Price/performance and food were very tasty, the service was tried hard but a bit confused (possibly 1st day/temporary help), the boss himself was very nice. The dining room has the charm of a sports bar, but the boss told us that he will be moving into a new restaurant nearby in the summer. We will definitely come back and are looking forward to the new ambience. Definitely a recommendation for good and typical Italian cuisine.

Great food and world class service at good prices.

I've eaten here a few times, with the exception of today the food was always great, today unfortunately there were charcoal residues under every pizza and obviously very old mushrooms were used. I couldn't actually let my family eat in good conscience. Because the other times were always great, four stars.

We ate here for the first time on Friday. We had a mixed starter that was very tasty and authentic. My pizza was excellent and, for my taste, the best in Krefeld and the surrounding area. My partner's pasta was also super tasty. The chef... Everything was explained to us when we had questions about his dishes (ingredients). The service in the guest room was excellent and we felt like we were at home. We will definitely stop by again

Waren gestern das erste Mal hier essen.wir hatte eine gemischte Vorspeisenvariationen die sehr lecker und authentisch war..Meine Pizza war hervorragend und für meinen Geschmack die beste in Krefeld und Umgebung.Die Nudeln meiner Partnerin war auch super lecker.Der Koch hat uns bei Fragen zu seinem Gerichten (Zutaten ) alles erklärt.Der Service im Gästeraum war hervorragend man hat sich wie Zuhause gefühlt.Wir werde auf jeden Fall wieder reinschauen
