My birthday at Die Wetterburg was a true experience! The restaurant is located in an old inn – thick walls, rustic wooden beams, and a warm, almost medieval atmosphere. This makes the evening so special. The food is regional and creative: "Gespenstergeflüster," "Ratsherrenpfanne," "Wetterburger Bräutigam," and "Baron Padberg" – all of the names are truly a highlight, and delicious and highly recommended! Yes, we had to wait a bit because the waitress was alone – but no problem, because she was incredibly welcoming. Lilly, our furry friend, was also warmly welcomed. 🐾 Finest enjoyment in a house full of character. We'd go back anytime!

After being rudely turned away at Saustall (the name fits), we received a very friendly welcome here and got a table without a reservation. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious 😋, and the Aperol deserves 5 stars both in terms of price and taste. We'd love to come back.

We were at the RV park at Twistesee with our group of four girls over the weekend and reserved a table here. We were very pleasantly surprised by the truly wonderful atmosphere; you don't see that very often. Very friendly staff, excellent service, and truly delicious food. All in all, we highly recommend it.

We were there last week. The food was good, the atmosphere was fantastic. And since we've had some strange experiences with poor service in the area, we can't praise the friendly service there enough.

Restaurant with a unique and cozy interior, and the terrace is also very pleasant. Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. Some guests even left because of the long wait. The food itself wasn't particularly good either. A bit like German soup kitchen. Dishes weren't prepared with love. The service was very friendly, but that's not enough.

The Wetterburg Castle for a knight's banquet. It may seem a bit unassuming from the outside, but the interior boasts a truly wonderful ambiance. The castle theme is consistently carried through from the decor to the menu. The knight's banquet is truly an experience. The food, with a good selection, is very tasty. We've only been there a few times for a knight's banquet, but we'll definitely go there again soon. The menu sounds very good.

After waiting two hours for our food, we drove home hungry. A little warning about the considerable preparation time would have been enough, and we would have had the chance to find something else. Such a shame!

The positives: the location is great and quaint, the staff are friendly...but that's it, unfortunately...the service staff were completely overwhelmed by the number of guests, the beer was poorly tapped and sometimes too warm. The comment was merely noted. The food was partly okay, partly completely oversalted, which was also only noted. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio was not right. By chance, I then saw a sign outside informing me about the drink prices that had changed as of August 1, 2025. Unfortunately, this was not the case in the restaurant. With all due respect for the increased prices...first making money and then changing the cards is simply not acceptable in a restaurant of this price range. This will probably be my only visit...a shame for such a nice restaurant.

As always, the clear menu speaks for good quality at reasonable prices.

There's no need to say anything more than "everything is great." The artfully presented dishes are definitely a feast for the eyes. The chef masters his craft with a level of perfection that is unparalleled. I regret never having been here in the 12 years I've lived here.

We absolutely cannot recommend it. The food is really good, but you can't go there if you're not hungry. We waited a full hour for a soup and then another half hour for our main courses, and there were only three of us. The server was completely snippy when we asked them to let the kitchen know we'd been waiting a long time. I don't understand why people spend money and then get treated badly. I find it very unfortunate because the food was good, the chef really tries hard, but the service is abysmal; it makes going out no fun at all, and to be honest, neither I nor anyone else in my family will be going there again. I remember being there a few years ago and waiting ages, but in this case, for example, the place wasn't even full, and that was just before 7 on a Sunday. I think there were only 15 people there in total. Completely incomprehensible. They're certainly very confident in their reputation for medieval style, but for someone looking to spend a pleasant evening, this place is completely unsuitable. Better across the street from the post office.

Enjoyed a really delicious meal, the steaks were perfectly fried and tender. Service was very friendly... we will definitely come back and recommend you to others.

Visit on December 26th We received a small Christmas menu with a few main courses. The food was tasty but there was not enough sauce for the schnitzel. The salad buffet is a joke! 4 buckets of which 3 pickled carrots, cucumbers and cabbage. Plus 1x fresh lamb's lettuce. Just a dressing. That's it. The main courses all cost over €32. The quality isn't right and the ratio isn't right either: a pork schnitzel costs €32.90 and a rum steak costs €33.90. There was no ice cream for dessert. The friendly waitress told us that too. Unfortunately the full price was charged. Overall, we can see that a building like this needs to be maintained, but it was simply too expensive, even if the food was, as I said, delicious (except for the salad). The ambience is really great and the service was also great!

Nice restaurant, we were there as a private group. The food was incredibly good. Even the beef was on point. And everything was delicious and of excellent quality. The staff could have been a little more attentive, but they were friendly, nice and it was absolutely fine. This is criticism at a very high level. I can only recommend the store. Ambiance is nice. I don't get the impression of the restaurant experience because only the ambience was nice. But I can't rate the day-to-day business because we were there when it was closed. In any case, we were completely thrilled and I can only recommend the inn. We had buffet.

An extraordinary place considering how old this building is. Unfortunately the service wasn't that good, we had to remind the young waiter that we were waiting for the menus and would very much like to order one of the aperitifs on offer. These starters and main courses were very tasty. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert, which I very much regretted.

This “tavern” is definitely worth a visit!! In a rustic ambience, absolutely in keeping with the castle feel, the dishes are served on deep plates with warmth and humor. The garden is lovingly designed with gravel and cobblestones, small hedges and a pond. Even the sanitary area is based on the rooms of a castle, modeled on a stable and yet modern and very clean. The food is described imaginatively in the menu with well-sounding names such as: B. “Mermaid” or “Wetterburger Engagement”, no wish is left unfulfilled in terms of taste. Portions that initially seem small are completely sufficient. I know that our path will lead us here more often in the future. Thanks!

Wir waren zu zweit an einem Samstag Abend hier zum Essen. Den Tisch hatte ich vorher telefonisch für 19 UHR bestellt. Der Herr war auch wirklich sehr nett am Telefon. Dort angekommen, hatten wir einen wirklich schönen Tisch auf der Terrasse. Ein junger Mann kam auch relativ zeitnah an unseren Tisch wegen Getränken, wir hatten aber noch nicht in die Karte geschaut, somit ging er wieder. Was sich leider als Fehler heraus stellte, da der junge Mann dann irgendwie anscheinend keine Lust mehr hatte uns zu bedienen. Es dauerte wirklich ewig, bis wir die Getränke bestellen konnten bzw. dann erhalten haben. Er meinte dann nur, es wäre heute soooo voll aber ehrlich gesagt, es waren fast an jedem Tisch nur 2 Personen und man müsste vielleicht auch einmal " einen Zahn zulegen" denn eilig schien der junge Mann es nicht gehabt zu haben. Das Essen, welches wir dann fast 2 1/2 Stunden später bekommen haben, war leider auch nur durchschnittlich. Sehr schade aber nächstes Mal werden wir ein anderes Restaurant aussuchen.

Very attentive and friendly service, the dogs were also immediately provided with water and treats. You sit on the street, but the plants in the courtyard make up for it. The food is excellent, for example I had the vegetarian monastery pan. We will definitely come back when we are here on the pitch.

Today we had a vintage car rally and had lunch in the Wetterburg. It was very tasty and great service! Nice atmosphere and highly recommended. Gladly again.

Das ist keine gute Gastronomie denn das einzig Störende im täglichen Ablauf scheint der Gast zu sein und der wird dann noch mit unfreundlichem Personal bedient. Mit rund 100 Personen waren wir heute zum Mittagsmahl im Rahmen einer Oldtimerveranstaltung hier zu Gast und es war alles vorangemeldet. Das Buffet bestehend aus Hähnchen mit diversen convinience-Sossen, ein billig gemachter Krautsalat, ausserdem Schnitzel aus der Friteusse und Gemüse plus Spätzle. Das Ganze lieblos präsentiert und schlecht organisiert in einer engen, schwierig zugänglichen Ecke des grossen Lokales. Nachdem sich bei der leeren Schnitzelschale eine Schlange gebildet hat, wurde dies von einigen Gästen reklamiert und man erhielt die schnippische Antwort, dass man mit einem solchen Andrang nicht gerechnet habe. Das Gemüse und Hähnchen war dann auch alle und viele hungrige Mitfahrer mussten lange auf ihr Essen warten. Endlich am Tisch mit zwischenzeitlich kalten und mangels Sosse trockenen Nudeln, durfte man bei einem missmutigen Kellner ein spätes Getränk bestellen. Ein alkoholfreies Bier sollte trotz Vorreservierung separat bezahlt werden. Die Getränke kamen dann deutlich verspätet als alles bereits gegessen war und der Kellner offenbar auch jede Lust verloren hat. Nein Leute das ist wirklich keine Gastronomie - das ist einfach dreist und unwürdig !

Today we were registered there for lunch with around 100 people as part of a classic car event. When the first 40 guests were taken care of, there was no more chicken or schnitzel, the vegetables were all gone and the salad was then thrown together. After what felt like an eternity, it was laboriously added. In the meantime the spaetzle were cold and dried out. Instead, after a long wart period, the drinks came after the meal. Staff unfriendly and even rude and unfriendly after complaining. This is not good gastronomy... a shame because the place is beautiful.

Unfortunately, I haven't been to the Wetterburg myself, but we used this restaurant for the second time to take a lunch break on the occasion of a vintage car trip. The first time two years ago and today I received only positive feedback from the participants I spoke to. I'm sorry that someone got off on the wrong foot today and saw it differently than the other 52 teams that took part in the event today. Best regards Stephen Sunshine

The food was really bad! My schnitzel was completely dry and black, it took strength to cut it. The salad smelled like it was already bad! I'm sure it was and I didn't taste it just to be on the safe side! Never again!!!

Top Qualität mit sehr gutem Geschmack. Alle waren äußerst zufrieden. Preise absolut gerechtfertigt. Service locker, nett und freundlich.

Ate there with 5 people on June 2nd, 2024. Top quality, very good taste and nice, competent service. Prices for this top quality are absolutely justified. Everyone was thrilled.

We were there twice on a motorhome trip to the Twistesee parking space. Top cuisine + brilliant entertainment thanks to the opportunity to observe various groups at the "knight's meal". The women's group on Saturday evening was particularly worth the visit!!! Full marks in all respects!!!

A beautiful, rustic building. The service could be better, we had to wait quite a long time even though it wasn't busy. But the wait was worth it.

We have stayed in the holiday apartment in the Wetterburg several times. We always eat in the restaurant. It was super tasty every time. The food is upscale and really worth every cent. The staff is always nice and professional. The boss is also super friendly. We never had anything to complain about.

I'm vegan and the food is cooked on a vegan basis for rural areas and it's damn good and top notch... Not only meat/omnivores feel at home in this restaurant, pescatarians, vegetarians and vegans also feel at home... 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Big praise to the chef who conjured up an absolute dream meal for us... The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Unfortunately, the facility promises more than it delivers. We had to wait a long time to place our order and we had to wait long, too long, for drinks and food. Drinks took twenty minutes. Eating almost an hour. In addition, the food was not what it was ordered. Instead of Schupfnudeln there was spaetzle and instead of baked potatoes with herb mud there was fried potatoes as a side dish. The leg of lamb was not a leg. It would all have been forgivable if it had been pointed out. But that didn't happen. Otherwise the taste of the food was okay. Unfortunately not a place I would recommend.

Would have liked to eat something there, but dogs have not been allowed since January 1st, 2024. And then we left again with our “little” Havanese. My husband discovered the restaurant while on a motorcycle tour and really wanted to show it to me. That's why we came especially from southern Hesse. We had reserved. Dogs were allowed in summer. Something seems to have happened there. It's a shame that all dogs and owners are now being lumped together. They probably won't see us there anymore. The restaurant was pretty empty. If you wanted, you could have sat us in a quiet corner.

Schade...bedauerlicherweise sind Hunde nicht erwünscht...durch das Fehlverhalten eines Hundebesitzers sind die anderen nun auch nicht mehr erwünscht ...zum Glück gibt es eine sehr gute und nette Wetterburger Alternative

Einfach hervorragend! Service war sehr freundlich, selbst nach einem langen und anstrengenden Tag gemäß ihrer Aussage. Meine Freundin hatte das "Filet Frankenberg" Hähnchenbrustfilet mit Bandnudeln in Tomaten/Büffelmozzarella Soße. Einfach köstlich. Selbst der Beilagensalat außergewöhnlich gestaltet und sehr lecker und frisch! Ich hatte die "Henckersmalzeit": Rinderfilet auf den Punkt gegrillt mit schöner Kruste! Dazu eine super weiche Folienkartoffeln mit einer selbstgemachten Sour cream. Dazu aromatische Schmorzwiebeln und knackig-frische Speckbohnen! Wir waren total begeistert! Zudem eine sehr großzügige Portion. Eine Vorspeise, selbst für mich als guten Esser, nicht vorstellbar! Es gibt drei verschiedene Fassbiere, super leckeren regionalen Pflaumenlikör u.v.m.! Der für uns zunächst hohe Preis ist ABSOLUT gerechtfertigt und bei der Qualität und dem Ambiente eigentlich noch zu wenig. Vielen Dank für den tollen Abend! Weiter so!

Sehr schönes Ambiente mit tollem Essen und sehr gutem Service. Ein schöner Abend. Als Nachtisch können wir den Nonnenseufzer empfehlen.

Das Ambiente sehr schön, allerdings durch das Ritteressen größerer Gruppen recht unruhig. Die Bedienung super freundlich, leiser war das Essen nur so mittel . Vom Anrichten sah es gut aus, das Steak allerdings qualitativ nicht gut!

Wir waren mit vier Personen da. Alle haben etwas anderes zum Essen bestellt. Jeder war mit seinem Essen so zufrieden, dass jeder mal beim Anderen probieren musste. Und alle fanden, dass alle Gerichte phantastisch gut geschmeckt haben. Um es norddeutsch auszudrücken . . . "Mega" . . . 😉

Das erste Getränk erst nach 45 min bekommen. Auf Essen 2 Stunden gewartet und danach den Restaurantbesuch abgebrochen. Nicht zu fassen.Den Tisch war vor einem Monat reserviert

Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal nach dem Inhaberwechsel in der Wetterburg. An der Speisekarte hat sich nichts geändert, und das Essen war auch genauso schmackhaft wie beim Vorbesitzer. Leider war es aber auch sehr kalt, ebenso wie früher. Bei diesen kalten Temperaturen wäre es nur allzu angebracht, den tollen Kamin anzufeuern - hätte auch sehr gut zum Ritteressen gepasst, welches bei unserem Essen im vollen Gange war. Wie gesagt, das Essen war sehr gut, der Service sehr freundlich, und bis auf die Kälte war es ein sehr schöner Abend!
