The Damas is a pleasant, welcoming restaurant, friendly and quick service. The food is good and reasonably priced, even if the kitchen still has room for improvement. We always enjoy going there.

The terrace is right on a busy street and not really recommended. Unfortunately, some dishes vary in taste from time to time, so you are always disappointed.

A thoroughly disappointing experience! We had to wait 35 minutes before anyone even looked after us. Then another 45 minutes passed until our drinks finally arrived – and the food? Over 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting for mediocre dishes that weren't nearly worth the effort. But the worst came last: the pay. Card payments were advertised everywhere, but when we wanted to pay, they suddenly said: “That’s not possible, we’re in Germany!” – a completely absurd statement. And as if that wasn't bold enough, the staff also demanded that we leave our ID cards - which is not only completely unacceptable, but simply illegal! This behavior is misleading, dubious and absolutely not recommended!

A really disappointing experience. We waited 20 minutes for the waitress to come, then another 30 minutes for our drinks and over an hour for our main courses. And the food wasn't special either. What really ruined our evening was the payment issue. The signs said you could pay by card, but in the end they said that wasn't possible and that we are in Germany and they don't always pay with cash. To make matters worse, they also asked us to leave our IDs, which is completely illegal. Very frustrating and seems dishonest. Not recommended. This is completely incomprehensible and misleading. Great atmosphere for gathering and families

We wanted to test the Damas using the gourmet block and came to the following conclusion: Eat: The prices here are in the higher range for what you get on the plate. The portions themselves were rather small and if we hadn't had a starter, we would have gone home hungry. The taste was okay. Service: The service itself was okay, but we were disappointed that we had to wait more than 1.5 hours for our food. This is an absolute no-go, regardless of whether there was a lot going on or not (statement from the service). There wasn't really an apology in this regard. Ambience: Nice oriental decoration - okay in itself. Unfortunately, music wasn't played until shortly before closing time. Conclusion: There is still room for improvement. If nothing improves, we won't be coming back.

Went there for the very first time during the week and discovered it by chance. We really couldn't complain about the service. The service was very friendly and reliable, the food was served quite quickly. I can't and don't want to judge whether it was 100% authentic, but it was very tasty and I have to say you can't find something like that on every corner. Unfortunately I can't remember the names of the dishes but I had a stew with okra and lamb (which was very tender by the way), my husband had boneless chicken with vegetable side dishes. I think it's a nice option that you can order some dishes meatless. But I would have liked there to be 1-2 main courses that were vegetarian or vegan. The menus were a bit confusing as there is probably a German and English version and for me and my husband the pages were sometimes in German and sometimes in English. I can't say whether it was a mistake on the part of the staff or whether some guests were making a very stupid joke. Unfortunately, we forgot to tell the waitress. The ambience wasn't that wow, but it was nice and, in my opinion, not tacky. The music could have been turned down a little more, but the temperature was fine. Only going to the toilet was quite oppressive because it was only dimly lit and I had the feeling that I was unintentionally walking into a dungeon. The path to the toilet could be illuminated a little more.

The food was great as always. The mixed menus leave nothing to be desired. Unfortunately there was no room for dessert, but the mocha would do the trick too! 😀

Disappointed. It was our first time here and we weren't convinced. The food was dry, tasteless and the meat was burnt. The service leaves a lot to be desired, and we were not told in advance that the card reader was broken, but only during the payment process. We won't be coming back.

The Damas restaurant in Mainz is simply great! We have been there four times and have been super satisfied every time. The starter platters are definitely the highlight – incredibly tasty and varied! 🤩🍴 The service is always friendly. 😊👍 A real must in Mainz – we always love coming back! ✨

Unfortunately I had a bad experience. The ambience is getting old and immediately after entering the restaurant I was struck by an unpleasant smell, perhaps coming from the toilets? The staff didn't pay any attention to you even though the restaurant was only half full. You weren't particularly friendly and disinterested. You didn't feel welcome. I had to wait 50 minutes for the cold starter plate. When asked, she suddenly appeared and the side bread was forgotten. The main course and starter were okay, but not a taste experience that you absolutely have to try. Overall no recommendation

Authentic Lebanese restaurant. Very delicious Lahm Mischui was soft and juicy; Halabi Kabab was tender and savory. Really enjoyed Djebneh too. Serves drinks and wine.

The restaurant had a noticeable musty smell throughout, which really detracted from the overall experience. Even though the ambiance wasn’t bad, the damp odor made it uncomfortable to stay for too long. The food was delayed despite the place not being busy, though the taste was quite good. One major downside was the restroom, located downstairs and only accessible by stairs. It had an unpleasant, strong smell that made using it uncomfortable. While the food was tasty, the persistent bad smells in both the restaurant and restrooms overshadowed the experience. I won't revist the restaurant, and i won't recommend this restaurant. The staff also didn’t seem very friendly, though we didn’t interact much — just my personal impression.

We called and made a reservation, the reservation was confirmed for 8:30 p.m. Then there was the surprise in the suburbs: the restaurant was closed even though the opening hours were until 11 p.m. + we had a reservation, so the evening for us was from 9 p.m. for A... There wasn't even an apology from the lady who happened to be there. The occasion was our wedding anniversary. Thanks Damas 👍, never again.

The starters were very tasty. Lots of different things, cold/hot to try and dip. The visit is worth it for that alone! We also really enjoyed the main course (mixed grilled plate).

The restaurant is an optical illusion. The prices are very expensive, the grills were very bad, small and inedible, and the service was also not good. We waited for more than an hour and a half until the order came and the appetizers did not taste good. In general, I do not recommend it at all. There are many better and more delicious restaurants.. I'm all in love with nothing else. They have a lot of good restaurants

Food is pricey but tastes nice and not very salty or greasy. Decoration is okay a little bit out dated but no complain.

Very good food, especially the mixed starter platter is recommended. Of course, a very good red wine from Lebanon goes well with it. Gladly again.

We arrived a little late in the evening and unfortunately the kitchen was already closed. Nevertheless, the friendly staff gave us a selection of cold starters that tasted delicious. Price performance appropriate. Gladly again .

We ate there with the family at the weekend and we were very impressed, the food was delicious and everything was fresh. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back soon. 😃

I would like to give zero stars here but because there is no other option then only one star. A star chef who is then called a refugee chef by his boss is clearly an excuse to get out of it. I was personally called by Chat because he knew full well that his waitress served us a burnt main course even after two hours. Unfortunately we only took a picture of the chop, which didn't show where the bone was and where the meat was. Damas is not a fine restaurant, at just under €500 for 13 people it is a disgrace not to offer decent food.

The food was great! It would just be nice if so much time didn't pass between the starter and the main course. Furthermore, the beer was quite stale and old.

You have to wait a long time, but it's definitely worth it. The food is excellent😃😃

A very good place for family and friends

As an avid restaurant goer, I recently visited your restaurant and was very disappointed with the service. Our waiter wore an AirPod the whole time and was very rude. Even though we were the first to arrive at the restaurant, we were overlooked for service. After a short while we decided to eat outside. We announced this, but instead of the waiter bringing our food out, I had to pick it up myself. After asking whether I should bring out the food myself, I only received a curt “yes”. So I had to go in and out three times to get our food. I have never experienced anything like this and am very disappointed with this service.

Waited 2.5 hours for food on Saturday, drinks sometimes only came when asked or not at all. But the food was very tasty! Unfortunately, a drafty restaurant. Unfortunately, the toilet in the basement was not clean. A pity.

We went there for dinner today. We sat outside as the weather was good. The food came after about 15 minutes and looked delicious. That's exactly how it tasted. The service was reserved but friendly. We would be happy to go there again.

Were there yesterday with the Schlemmerblock. You get a €10 discount for the matzahs. The menus are not cheap at around 25-30 euros. The starters are great, the main course didn't need it. Service is a bit listless if you don't actively ask if you can get something to drink...

We had reserved online and received a confirmation, but it was not noted. The waiter was then able to prepare a table for 6 people. Unfortunately, we had wished for a little more oriental spices and warmth. The Tagine Beber, starters and kebab were delicious, but the skewers were unfortunately a bit burnt. But overall all the dishes were delicious.

It was okay. That's it. The service was so-so and the portion size was such that it filled you up, but I can't recommend it for someone who is very hungry. Funny fun fact: when I wanted to pay by card, I was asked to pay with cash. When I then asked for a bill, I was told that I could also pay by card. Questionable method 🤔

The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. It got very crowded, which raised our expectations of the food. The hummus was delicious. My wife and I would have been equally happy with warm bread. The main courses were OK. The sauces are not particularly refined. It was a shame that the same sauce was used with the falafels and the cauliflower. My lamb skewer was delicious. Overall, we have certainly enjoyed better oriental cuisine. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. However, there were too many guests for two service staff. Guests kept coming to the counter to order or pay because they weren't served at the table. Either the number of guests should be reduced or the number of service staff should be higher. Both would significantly increase the enjoyment of the guest in this restaurant.

We have eaten at Damas many times and it has always been excellent! Authentic and delicious food, as well as a relaxed atmosphere. If you like Syrian/Arabic food, this is the place for you.

I may be biased here, but in my opinion the price you pay is a lot more than what you get in value. The taste was just okay, the portions were too small for the price, and the waiters were just fine not the friendliest. Plus, there is no card payment here! And when asked why since the place is a bit on the pricey side so they should have card payments, the workers there said it was due to not stable Internet connection.

Syrian-lebanese restaurant with very good middle-eastern food. Great place to share one of the 12 or more item selections on the menu. The drink service is a bit slow, and some items on the drink list aren't actually available. Otherwise, no complaints.

☹️Nein , dieses Mal (6. Besuch) war es eine Enttäuschung. Langes Warten auf die Speisekarte obwohl nur 3 Tische besetzt. Bestellung fürs Menü aufgegeben und Warten auf die Getränke, ausgesuchter Flaschenwein nicht vorhanden, Alternative war nicht unser Geschmack. Vorspeisen waren gut, aber das Hauptgericht: mit Verlaub - 3 Sorten Fleisch allenfalls lauwarm, Reis auch und keine Saucen dazu. Bedeutet alles trocken! Gut gewürzt war es, vor allem mit Knoblauch…. Gespräche am 4er Tisch fast unmöglich, extrem laut, mittlerweile voll besetzt und beschallt. Bezahlen war ein Problem, keine Karten. alles bar. Rechnung gabs nur am Bildschirm zu sehen und die stimmte zunächst auch nicht - kann alles vorkommen, aber es war schon seltsam. 👉Wie sich die Zeiten ändern…. Beim allerersten Mal vor 5 Jahren fand ich es: Exzellent, sehr guter Service obwohl bis zum letzten Platz besetzt. Sehr ansprechende Küche - gut erklärt. Trotzdem man muss die Küche lieben. Vorsicht bei scharfen Speisen, die sind auch scharf. Gute Weine und alles zusammen: ein ERLEBNIS. Bitte die Reservierung nicht vergessen!!!

Trotz schriftlicher online Reservierungsbestätigung für 6 Personen war der Tisch nicht eingeplant. Wir konnten die Reservierung nachweisen, danach wurde improvisiert. Bestellung für 4 Personen: Mazza Extra Das Fladenbrot war kalt. Die Portionen der Dips waren unserer Meinung nach kleiner als beim letzten Besuch. Die Falafel / Kibbeh Hamid + die Sanbsak waren mir persönlich zu trocken Die warme Hähnchenbrust Spieß war sehr lecker, das Latham Mischui war mir zu trocken, das Kabab war ok. Es gab insgesamt nur eine halbe Tomate/ Zwiebel für alle 4 Personen. Der Service wirkte überfordert. Der Mokka kam nach ewigen Zeiten und hat keinem geschmeckt. Bezahlen am Tisch war nicht möglich, wir wurden zum Tresen gebeten. Wir haben für 2 Personen fast 90€ bezahlt, wir werden erst mal pausieren.

Durch den Schlemmerblock mit Reservierung seit vielen Jahren wieder einmal hierher gekommen. Anfangs etwas irriertiert, da laut Aushang an der Eingangstür zur Zeit durch ein technisches Problem keine Kartenzahlung möglich sein sollte. Das war nach Nachfrage dann doch möglich ( wir wollten schon wegen Bargeldmangels woanders speisen) , aber der Aushang wurde bis zu unseren Verlassen des Restaurants trotzdem nicht abgenommen. Das Ambiente und Decor der Räumlichkeit ist weiterhin nett, die Speisen ( wie immer Geschmackssache) schmeckten uns (es war aber kein AHA Effekt), die Bedienung war... naja... etwas zurückhaltend.

Sehr freundliches Personal. Das Essen war sehr lecker und auch sehr schnell am Tisch. Leider direkt an der Hauptstraße . Aber Recht gut abgeschottet. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder.

Super, tolles Essen! Wir waren total begeistert! Wir haben zu zweit das Royal Menü bestellt und es war mehr als genug (reicht sicher auch für drei Frauen 😅)! Die Vorspeisen waren alle toll! Das Fleisch ein Traum! Selbst das Kabab war super und ich bin absolut kein Hackfleisch-Fan. Würde das Royal-Menü auf jeden Fall empfehlen, da man so verschiedene Gerichte kosten kann! Am Service kann man arbeiten! Die Damen sind freundlich, allerdings sehr langsam und unaufmerksam! Am Nachbartisch durften wir beobachten dass die Gerichte bei Gruppen komplett unterschiedlich serviert wurden (größerer Zeitabstand dazwischen)! Und auch wir durften fast 40 Minuten auf unsere Getränke warten, obwohl das Lokal nicht voll war! Alles in allem dennoch top und wir kommen wieder! Das essen hat uns einfach überzeugt! 😍 Kurze Info: Wir waren das erste mal syrisch essen und haben keinen Vergleich.

Wir fanden das Essen allgemein, die Auswahl, die Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte authentisch, lecker und sehr reichlich. Hier stimmt auch das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Restaurants were closing for the evening and we worried about getting fed at 9:30. Damas was nearly empty, but cheerfully showwed us to a table and provided a surprisingly good mid Eastern meal. The dolmas are to die for and the tangine was quite good. Cous cous was dry but very tasty. The cold draft beer -- even Bitburger-- was a perfect accompaniment.

Am Holzturm gelegen, man kann drinnen und draußen schön sitzen. Die Karte bietet viel Auswahl. Toll sind die gemischten Gerichte, bei denen man die große Vielfalt der Küche probieren kann. Alles war sehr lecker. Ein toller Abend.

Essen gut und interessant, leider nur Barzahlung trotz vorhanden Gerät und Nachfrage...

The food is nice but the service was bad. They just completely forgot one person's meal and didn't notice even when they brought the meal for the other 3 people on the table. I had to ask why that one meal was late, and they just said they forgot it. Also the empty plates of starters were sitting on our table for very long and no one came to take our orders.

Freundlich empfangen worden, nette Bedienung, schöne Plätze im Außenbereich; obwohl die Straßen recht nah sind kein störender Lärm. Die Speisekarte empfand ich als qunübersichtlich, im Internet sieht man, dass die Mezze-Menüs aus Mezze und Hauptgericht(en) bestehen, in der gedruckten Version war das nicht erkennbar. Meine Freundin, die uns eingeladen hatte, hat die Situation geklärt, indem sie bestimmt hat, dass wir alle die Mezze aus dem einen Menü bekommen, aber individuelle Hauptgerichte bestellen. (Wie sich das auf den Preis ausgewirkt hat kann ich nicht sagen - war eingeladen. ) Essen war lecker, ich hätte mir mehr Würze/Schärfe gewünscht, aber das ist vermutlich ein Zugeständnis an den deutschen Gaumen ... Komme wieder und empfehle es.

Das Essen war sehr lecker und geschmacklich gut, der sehr sympathische Service rundete den angenehmen Aufenthalt ab. Wer mal etwas anderes möchte als Döner oder Pizza, ist hier gut aufgehoben. #Pommes

Waren zu viert am Sonntag Abend da. War super lecker 🤤 Mazza (Vor- und Hauptspeise Teller, sowohl vegetarisch und mit Fleisch) absolut zu empfehlen. Bei 30 Grad deutlich besser verträglich als das deutsche Schnitzel oder ne Pizza 😉 Service war auch sehr gut. Habe am Ende mein Portmonee vergessen und es wohlbehalten 2h spöter wieder abgeholt. Danke ❤️ Wird für mich nicht das letzte mal dort gewesen sein.

Kalte Vorspeisen waren in Ordnung. Hühnchen saftig und zart. Das Lamm - eher ein Hammel der an Altersschwäche gestorben ist - war zäh und nicht eßbar. Service überfordert. Beim Essen stört im Aussenbereich der Shisha Dampf. Insgesamt für das Gebotene deutlich zu teuer. Wir werden nicht nochmal hingehen.

Total unterschätztes Restaurant. Immer wieder dran vorbeigefahren und jetzt endlich ausprobiert. Die Mezze-Platte ist der Hammer!
