Experienced racism and discrimination at the Seeterassen restaurant We wanted to have lunch at the Seeterassen restaurant on July 10, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. When we arrived, the lady at the reception was extremely rude and unpleasant and curtly informed us that the restaurant was fully booked. We accepted this and left. On the way back, however, we saw two couples arrive and, despite not having a reservation, were told by the same lady that they could wait 20 to 30 minutes. When she noticed that I had witnessed the scene, she began to stammer and suddenly offered me the same option. I immediately declined and explained the reason. As a North African guest, I have the clear impression that her behavior was discriminatory. The restaurant may deserve its 4.3-star Google rating for the food, but certainly not for the service. My response to your reply: Good afternoon, Ms. Sondermann, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I get the impression that in your response, you're primarily looking for excuses rather than addressing the criticism itself. My comments referred to the friendliness of the service (to everyone, without exception), not to your reservation policy or the background of your staff, or even the number of stars on Google. It's unfortunate that you're missing the core of the criticism and instead offering justifications that have nothing to do with the behavior described. An open and self-critical attitude would certainly have contributed more to clarifying and improving the situation.

There is super nice staff here and super delicious food, the best champion cream sauce.

Disappointing Visit – Not a Recommendation When we arrived, we were assigned a table and given the menu. After we had made our decision, the manager came to the table and told us we should be ready by 6 p.m., as the table was reserved. She also said we would be the first guests to receive our food that day, so we could quickly free up the assigned table for the reservation. As a "consolation," the waitress offered us an espresso – which we declined. We wanted to enjoy our meal in peace and let the evening end relaxed, not rush into it. We finished our drinks and left the restaurant. This is neither our idea of planning nor customer satisfaction. One thing is for sure: We will not visit this restaurant again.

Friendly service, very tasty food.

My daughter and I ate there today. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to a table. My daughter had a Räuber Hotzenplotz plate (fries, chicken breast with mushroom sauce), and I had a rump steak with peppercorn sauce and croquettes. We started with a salad. Everything was highly recommended. For dessert, mascarpone cream with raspberry puree. Also highly recommended. The service staff were very friendly and helpful, but not pushy or profit-oriented. The value for money was also very good, very moderate. Our summary: Highly recommended, 5 out of 5 stars.

The quality of the food is okay, the service is pleasant, and the ambiance is very old-fashioned. The best part is the location on the lake. Wheelchair-friendly. To get to the jetty, you either have to climb steps through an underpass or take a considerable detour. There are visitor and disabled parking spaces directly at the restaurant; everyone else has to stay a little higher up in the large parking lot, which is quickly accessible on foot. You can swim in the lake (unattended) and rent pedal boats, stand-up paddleboards, or similar equipment.

Really great service from when we arrived to when we left, they really care about the customer and the food and drink is excellent quality throughout! We stopped for a drink the day before, we were so impressed we booked a table for the next evening and it didn't disappoint, the lady who served us both days was lovely, all the staff were great and the menu and food was excellent 👍 highly recommended, thank you 🙂

We've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. We've never been disappointed. The food is always good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly.

Everything is just right here. From the friendly and always welcoming staff to the delicious food. The portions are generously sized and appetizingly presented. The value for money is also good in this case. I'm happy to give it 5 stars 👍🤗

We had a delicious meal here today. The staff was super accommodating and friendly, the portions were huge and incredibly well-seasoned. We left the restaurant full and very satisfied. We'd be happy to go again.

A very nice café/restaurant with a view of Lake Bigge. We felt very comfortable and would gladly return.

Good food, beautiful lake view, top-notch service. Here, you'll only complain at a high level. We had schnitzel and pork medallions with various side dishes. The meat was tender and not marbled - the schnitzel was well cooked. The pork medallions, however, were unfortunately a bit dry. A slight deduction for that. The same goes for the mushroom cream sauce. It tasted good, but it was a bit greasy. Apart from those two items, the food was very good. The service was very well organized and fast for the size of the restaurant - all the waiters and waitresses were also very friendly. After dinner, we were given a nightcap and gummy bears on request - a small gift, but one that works. For dessert, we had a piece of cheesecake - noticeably homemade and delicious. The panorama of Lake Bigge from the restaurant terrace is fantastic - although the ambiance could have been a bit better. The price isn't exactly cheap – schnitzels with side dishes start at €19. But for a good restaurant experience, it's reasonable by today's standards. We'll be back!

You almost feel like you're on vacation there in the summer, enjoying a delicious meal (large portions) and a cool drink with a beautiful view of the lake. The service is super friendly and very attentive. We'll be back soon.

A lovely little spot! Lovely café/restaurant right on Lake Bigge. We were there on a Friday afternoon on our motorbike. We had no problem finding space on the terrace. The staff was friendly and helpful. We only had a small bite to eat, but it was great and of high quality. All in all, a strong recommendation!

Went here for ice cream. Service was very fast. Unfortunately, they don't have many ice cream flavors, just milky flavors, but no fruity ones like mango or raspberry. Otherwise, the view is beautiful, and it's very clean.

Impossible, for me as a disabled person with a walking aid. When we asked for a table, the waiter at the reception directed me to the farthest table in the restaurant. Even though several tables near the entrance were free, I've been a customer for a long time and eaten there many times; this has never happened to me before. I don't need to hide; it's unacceptable behavior. Even though his colleague told him there were free tables near the entrance. That was the last time we ate there with six people. Never again will we allow the restaurant to treat disabled people so badly. I will not pass this fact on to any of my friends in the Sauerland.

Rather unassuming from the outside, this restaurant has a special quality. The menu is varied (unfortunately, exclusively Krombacher beers), and the service is friendly and fast. We had four different dishes, and all were delicious. In the summer, they add a lovely terrace with a direct view of Lake Bigge. On weekends, reservations are required; otherwise, no chance. These days, reservations are required every day, but booking is quick and easy via email or phone. The kitchen is open all day, so we recommend coming during the off-peak hours when it's not as busy.

We are regulars and have been very satisfied so far, making the restaurant our first choice, even for celebrations. Unfortunately, the quality (food + service) has tended to deteriorate, so we won't be going there again for the time being. Specifically: We weren't satisfied with Beret the last two times. Once, the baked potato wasn't cooked through, and some of it was still raw. Last time, a ready-made hollandaise sauce (confirmed by the waiter) was used with the asparagus, which was also slightly woody, which you could see and taste; at a price of almost 30 euros per dish, you can definitely ask for more. The fish fillet we ordered with it consisted of three small (leftover) pieces. The meat we ordered with it had to be searched for under the asparagus and the sauce. At first, we thought it had been forgotten. The icing on the cake is that we've already had the other table reservations rubbed in our faces via place cards. Impossible, we've never experienced anything like this before! This is anything but relaxing! No thanks! NS: General observation: Portions have become smaller overall, but the price has increased.

Service was friendly and pleasant. Waiting times were short, and smaller children have a special play area. Waffles and ice cream at the neighboring tables looked very good. We had ordered from the regular menu, expecting at least fresh schnitzel and sauces, but the schnitzel seemed like it had come from a deep fryer with no cooking marks and a firm red coating. The asparagus and steak looked fresh, so it seems that other items besides the mushrooms are also freshly cooked and fried. I would like to see this implemented across the entire menu, or to reduce the price of corresponding ready-made meals and, where appropriate, to label them accordingly. I have no problem paying €20 for a good, fresh pork schnitzel with sides, but I don't want to eat ready-made schnitzel in boring breading.

We were there on two days. The coffee and cake were delicious. The portion size was very generous and tasted delicious. The staff was very friendly. Dogs are also welcome.

The ambience is very nice. But that was it. We got there and were told we had free choice of seating outside. We sit at one of the back tables. We had just had our drinks when an older lady came to our table and asked "Are you ready?" I looked at my full glass and said "No, that will take a while." Then she said: "I'll put you somewhere else now." When asked why, she explained that there were now 6 other guests coming and she had to move the tables differently. I told her that we had been offered free choice of seats, and she snapped at me, "But that would have been while she was on break." There was also enough space on the terrace. She then sat two other tables together with another person and then said she has now checked that we can keep our place. No, they got that wrong, they corrected their bad planning. If we had been asked politely if we could sit over, that would have happened immediately. Not in that tone. Not here again anytime soon.

We (4 adults and one child) were completely satisfied. There is an extra children's menu and a children's playroom. The changing area is separate and not in the women's restroom like in many restaurants. The food was brought quickly and was very tasty. The service was excellent and super kid friendly. We would love to come back.

We came to the restaurant while passing through. The location of the restaurant is very nice, the service is very friendly and the waiting time for the order is quite short. The dishes are beautifully prepared and taste very good. On the plate there is not only meat and fries, but also various types of vegetables. At the end we were treated to a schnapps. We are very positively surprised and of course recommend the restaurant.

Hello Hello!! We ate here on Sunday, I can only warmly recommend it, the waitress was very attentive and super friendly. The starter soup came to the table HOT and very tasty. And my steak was on point and tender. My husband had loin, it was all very delicious and the vegetables were still crisp and not too soft. It was a culinary delight, thank you very much and we'll be happy to come back. Anyone who would like to eat here, please make a reservation... A cozy restaurant with friendly service. The restaurant has a beautiful view of Lake Bigge. The train stops in front of the house. If you want to come with several people, we recommend reserving a table.

Went there spontaneously without a reservation. Despite being busy, we were still able to get a table. We were surprised at the diverse selection of dishes. And after we made our selection, we received our food quite quickly. We were thrilled with the presentation and the taste of the food. We really enjoyed everything. Trotz gut gefülltem Restaurant am 1. Adventabend bekamen wir als Paar noch einen schönen Tisch. Sehr freundliche und angenehme Bewirtung. Das Essen war in sehr großzügigen Portionen und sehr lecker. Die Preise sind sehr moderat und laden zum Wiederkommen ein. Leider war am Montag Ruhetag, so dass wie das Wiederkommen erstmal verschieben müssen. Somit hatten wir einen sehr schönen Abend.
