Excellent restaurant on the shores of the Biggesee lake. Food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch. We'll gladly return.

The food and atmosphere are truly excellent. Unfortunately, the staff could be a bit more polite; they seemed somewhat annoyed when asked questions.

The best restaurant in the area. My wife and I are regulars at Seeterrassen. We've never had a bad experience, which is why we also celebrated our civil wedding there two years ago (while they were open). Without much prior planning or even expectations, the Seeterrassen team created the perfect setting for us and gave us a wonderful evening. The food is always spot on, and the waiters and waitresses do a fantastic job. Restaurants like this are sadly becoming rare. Highly recommended!

The appetizer was OK and tasty, the steak was superb, and the dessert was excellent. Overall, I've rarely eaten so well. 👍 The room had a hall-like feel, and the service was very friendly and efficient.

There were three of us, including our dog, at the restaurant. The service was incredibly friendly. The food arrived so quickly that we were briefly surprised by how fast it was. A truly excellent experience. The dog was treated wonderfully. The food was a perfect 10/10. The schnitzel was delicious. The side salad and fries were perfectly crispy. Highly recommended!

The decor is a bit dated. But despite the restaurant being full, the service was perfect and friendly. I ordered my steak "medium rare" and it arrived exactly cooked that way. I'll definitely eat there again!

Even without a reservation, we (two people) got a table for lunch shortly before 3 p.m. The restaurant was very busy. We were immediately asked for our drink order, and our food order was taken with eye contact. The food arrived after 15 minutes: generous portions, attractively presented, delicious, and served at the perfect temperature. The service was friendly and attentive!

We first visited the restaurant in mid-2025 and have eaten there three times since. Each time we were very satisfied. We'd love to come back!

On Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, we were guests at the Seeterrasse restaurant, which had been recommended to us. The friendly lady at reception showed us to our table. The friendly service was attentive and the drinks were served quickly, and the food, which was very tasty, didn't take long either (it felt like less than 15 minutes). We felt very comfortable and the atmosphere appealed to us as well. We would gladly come again. Tina and Michael

A great location, very attentive staff, and excellent food. The restaurant was fully booked on a Saturday night. Nevertheless, the owner and the wonderful staff managed to find a table for two with 🐕. Nestled in the beautiful Sauerland region, this restaurant is highly recommended any time of year.

Large outdoor area. Partially covered, so you can sit outside even in the rain. Beautiful view of the Biggesee lake and its boat traffic. Friendly and attentive service. I had a 'Bergisches Krüstchen' (a traditional German open-faced sandwich). It was delicious and beautifully presented.

Truly delicious, great value for money. We'd love to come back. It's just a shame they're not open as late in the evening (around 9:30 p.m.). We would have loved to stay longer on a Saturday.

I definitely recommend the Seeterrassen to anyone who appreciates good food, friendly and competent staff, and a beautiful view. The menu changes seasonally, but my favorite dish, the Seeterrassen plate, is always there. The concept is consistently consistent. The manager and staff are extremely friendly.

A very nice restaurant with a wonderful view of the lake. The dishes are visually appealing, but the taste is far from meeting the expectations that arise from the combination of ambiance and price. The Rhenish Sauerbraten was far too dry, and the fish had too much salt. For a fillet, there were also far too many bones, in my opinion. The service also fell short of expectations. Overall, a disappointing experience. I wouldn't repeat it, and I wouldn't recommend it either.

We were there over the weekend and everything was great.

The restaurant is beautifully located, very large, and accordingly loud and busy. Reservations are recommended. The food was very good. The behavior of one of the employees, a German (mid-20s-30s), towards the foreign staff spoiled my enjoyment of the good food. We ate outside on the terrace. There were only a few guests left on the terrace, and the restaurant was busy inside. Several times, the man loudly and inappropriately criticized, even humiliated, the really very good and friendly staff in front of everyone. For this reason, I will no longer visit or recommend the restaurant, as it was very embarrassing to witness such behavior as a guest. It doesn't bring me joy. Even the good food is of no use. Perhaps someone recognizes this person and will tell him. How unacceptable his behavior seems. Arrogant and condescending best describes it. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell him myself because I didn't see him again. If you can overlook that, you can eat well there. The very friendly staff, mostly of foreign origin, ultimately enables the owner to provide the required level of service. That's something to think about. Appreciation seems to be a foreign concept here.

A beautifully located restaurant directly on Lake Bigge in Sondern. There are a few parking spaces (maybe 8-10) right in front of the restaurant. The train station is also right there if you're arriving by train. Depending on the time of year, you can also combine your visit with a boat trip on Lake Bigge. The pier is only about 50 meters from the restaurant. The food is homely and delicious. The schnitzel seemed frozen, but I was assured that this was just due to the way it was made and that it was fresh. It wasn't particularly big, though. Personally, I prefer schnitzel as we know it and find it more appealing than a schnitzel that at least looks frozen. Perhaps they should rethink this. As we all know, it's all about the eye. Otherwise, we were satisfied. For a Saturday lunchtime, the service was super quick (almost too quick :-) ). The salad hadn't even been eaten when the main course arrived. The service staff were very friendly. The prices were reasonable.

We visited the restaurant in the evening after the cruise. Despite the busy schedule, the service was always friendly, attentive, and courteous, making us feel immediately at home. We were also impressed by the food: the schnitzel topped with Camembert was excellently prepared, crispy yet juicy, while the melted cheese gave the dish a special touch. The hake was also a delight—fresh, tender, and perfectly balanced in flavor. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit, with both the quality of the food and the service completely convincing. A restaurant that we would happily recommend and will definitely visit again.

Experienced racism and discrimination at the Seeterassen restaurant We wanted to have lunch at the Seeterassen restaurant on July 10, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. When we arrived, the lady at the reception was extremely rude and unpleasant and curtly informed us that the restaurant was fully booked. We accepted this and left. On the way back, however, we saw two couples arrive and, despite not having a reservation, were told by the same lady that they could wait 20 to 30 minutes. When she noticed that I had witnessed the scene, she began to stammer and suddenly offered me the same option. I immediately declined and explained the reason. As a North African guest, I have the clear impression that her behavior was discriminatory. The restaurant may deserve its 4.3-star Google rating for the food, but certainly not for the service. My response to your reply: Good afternoon, Ms. Sondermann, Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I get the impression that in your response, you're primarily looking for excuses rather than addressing the criticism itself. My comments referred to the friendliness of the service (to everyone, without exception), not to your reservation policy or the background of your staff, or even the number of stars on Google. It's unfortunate that you're missing the core of the criticism and instead offering justifications that have nothing to do with the behavior described. An open and self-critical attitude would certainly have contributed more to clarifying and improving the situation.

Disappointing Visit – Not a Recommendation When we arrived, we were assigned a table and given the menu. After we had made our decision, the manager came to the table and told us we should be ready by 6 p.m., as the table was reserved. She also said we would be the first guests to receive our food that day, so we could quickly free up the assigned table for the reservation. As a "consolation," the waitress offered us an espresso – which we declined. We wanted to enjoy our meal in peace and let the evening end relaxed, not rush into it. We finished our drinks and left the restaurant. This is neither our idea of planning nor customer satisfaction. One thing is for sure: We will not visit this restaurant again.

My daughter and I ate there today. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to a table. My daughter had a Räuber Hotzenplotz plate (fries, chicken breast with mushroom sauce), and I had a rump steak with peppercorn sauce and croquettes. We started with a salad. Everything was highly recommended. For dessert, mascarpone cream with raspberry puree. Also highly recommended. The service staff were very friendly and helpful, but not pushy or profit-oriented. The value for money was also very good, very moderate. Our summary: Highly recommended, 5 out of 5 stars.

Highly recommended, also for family celebrations

The quality of the food is okay, the service is pleasant, and the ambiance is very old-fashioned. The best part is the location on the lake. Wheelchair-friendly. To get to the jetty, you either have to climb steps through an underpass or take a considerable detour. There are visitor and disabled parking spaces directly at the restaurant; everyone else has to stay a little higher up in the large parking lot, which is quickly accessible on foot. You can swim in the lake (unattended) and rent pedal boats, stand-up paddleboards, or similar equipment.

We've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. We've never been disappointed. The food is always good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly.

Really great service from when we arrived to when we left, they really care about the customer and the food and drink is excellent quality throughout! We stopped for a drink the day before, we were so impressed we booked a table for the next evening and it didn't disappoint, the lady who served us both days was lovely, all the staff were great and the menu and food was excellent 👍 highly recommended, thank you 🙂

Good food, beautiful lake view, top-notch service. Here, you'll only complain at a high level. We had schnitzel and pork medallions with various side dishes. The meat was tender and not marbled - the schnitzel was well cooked. The pork medallions, however, were unfortunately a bit dry. A slight deduction for that. The same goes for the mushroom cream sauce. It tasted good, but it was a bit greasy. Apart from those two items, the food was very good. The service was very well organized and fast for the size of the restaurant - all the waiters and waitresses were also very friendly. After dinner, we were given a nightcap and gummy bears on request - a small gift, but one that works. For dessert, we had a piece of cheesecake - noticeably homemade and delicious. The panorama of Lake Bigge from the restaurant terrace is fantastic - although the ambiance could have been a bit better. The price isn't exactly cheap – schnitzels with side dishes start at €19. But for a good restaurant experience, it's reasonable by today's standards. We'll be back!

You almost feel like you're on vacation there in the summer, enjoying a delicious meal (large portions) and a cool drink with a beautiful view of the lake. The service is super friendly and very attentive. We'll be back soon.
