We've been here several times now. The chef is a true master of his craft. I recently had the venison sauerbraten, and my wife had the forester's schnitzel. It couldn't have been better. Everything was perfect. From the amuse-bouche (truffle mayo with bread) to the dessert (various quince treats), it was simply divine. The service was first-class, attentive, and competent. Highly recommended.

Absolutely delicious dishes and friendly service! The atmosphere is traditional, the menu includes both traditional and modern dishes, and there's always something new to try, as we learned. I had a vegan option and can highly recommend the restaurant in that category as well. :)

This is my second visit. The food and the atmosphere are simply fantastic. But this time, the service really disappointed me. We asked for salt and pepper, but it didn't come. Then we had the food wrapped. I specifically asked for the cheese sauce to be wrapped separately, and then it was packed UNDER the schnitzel and, of course, melted into the packaging. And then we were charged €1 for the wrapping material.

A very nice restaurant with a fantastic view of the town and the Main River. We were able to reserve a table quite spontaneously. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen team served a small surprise at the beginning, which was very tasty. The food was extremely delicious and prepared with lots of love. It was a lovely dinner with a wonderful atmosphere.

This restaurant is amazing. I stumbled upon it spontaneously after a hike and ordered the venison sauerbraten. It was a dream, the way the various side dishes complemented each other, creating an explosion of flavors in the mouth. The ambiance, with the castle in the background and the historic old town, is breathtakingly beautiful. I will definitely come back. Reservations are helpful, as it gets busy on weekends.

So the restaurant burgterrasse leaves a lot to be desired because you should at least reserve on Sundays but although there were still many seats available in the evening the service simply fobbed off

Nice but very slow staff. First of all, it took ages from ordering to getting the drink. OK, it was quite busy but there were enough colleagues there and then the drink also came wrong. My Aperol spritz was anything but sparkling and then the glass size did not match the price. In total, everything was fine except for the view.

Great food. Thanks to the kitchen. I was there with several motorcycle friends; the Burgundy bratwurst was amazing, the schnitzel with warm cheese was a dream, and the chicken salad was fantastic. I've rarely eaten so much. Everything was very lovingly prepared; the chef is a real expert. I will recommend the Klingenburg Castle Terraces to other bikers. Hey guys, keep up the good work. Unfortunately, I can only give it 5 stars; you deserve more. By the way, the thing on the bratwurst is a piece of sweet potato. Today isn't every day; we'll be back, no question. But then I'll have more, bikers in tow. Not just for bikers, go there, enjoy the food and the view of the Main Valley. Eat at Klingenburg Castle first, then head to the Klingenberg Castle Festival.

Quiet atmosphere, relaxed ambiance. The noise level of the parasols in the wind is a drawback; when we asked if there were awnings, raucous laughter erupted at the table. Additionally, four wasps constantly pestered us, which was very tiring. All in all, it was fine; I would come back (also because of the service).

A fantastic restaurant with a cool and friendly team. The Valentine's Day events are fantastic and truly a feast for the eyes. Besides the high-quality, seasonal, and varied cuisine, there are many excellent reasons to make a reservation there, and I won't reveal them all here. Spontaneous guests sometimes need a bit of luck, as this location is very popular in the region. The owners love their job, and you can tell as a guest, which is why they give you an extra ⭐⭐⭐.

The castle terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the evening at sunset. The restaurant impresses with German/Bavarian cuisine and a Franconian atmosphere. With a stunning view and a variety of fine wines on the wine list, you can spend a wonderful time here. The service was friendly and attentive, and the dishes were excellently presented. The "Alexander's Kochkäseschnitzel" was particularly recommended. The value for money is excellent. This place should definitely be included on any visit to Klingenberg am Main.

The restaurant offers dishes at slightly higher prices. The quality of the food is good, but the salads could be seasoned better. I was disappointed that I had to pay extra for an ingredient I didn't want.

We celebrated our wedding in a small group on the castle terrace. What can I say? It was amazing. All of the guests were absolutely thrilled with everything from the food to the ambiance. The service was excellent. Absolutely top-notch. Everything was perfect. Many thanks to the entire team.

After a beautiful hike through the Seltenbach Gorge, the sun terrace invites you to enjoy the wonderful view over Klingenberg and the Main. We didn't eat there. But the drink prices are okay. The service was very nice and attentive. The freshly tapped Faust Hefeweizen is particularly recommended. Addendum from May: Today we ate here. It was outstanding. Portions to fill you up, everything fresh, very tasty and modernly prepared. Price-performance ratio is great. Gladly again.

Were really positively surprised! The food was very tasty and fresh! Great wild garlic dishes and Kochkäs Schnitzel 👍 large portions! The terrace is really fantastic! Very romantic in the evening and easy to bear even in the heat, as large trees provide dense shade. Card payment possible. Personally, I can recommend climbing the via ferrata (Churfrankensteig, 6min Auorfahrt) and then going to this castle for lunch/dinner! Great day! ♥️🍻

Great food and service. Kitchen open from 4 p.m. Goose liver and salad with chicken breast were excellent. Bratwurst is more reminiscent of Krakauer. Fried potatoes are great.

A nice restaurant next to the castle ruins. We stopped there for a coffee. The service was attentive. If we had known in advance what appealing dishes there were on the menu, we would have been here at lunchtime, so it's a good reason to come back and try the beautifully presented dishes. But our latte and red wine plums in the bright sunshine and view over the Main valley were also worth the detour after the hike.

This is a gem of a restaurant located at the top of the hill overlooking Klingenburg nestled in the ruins of the castle. Eight of my family went for dinner and it was exceptional german food. Clearly a talented chef was in charge. We had the delicious chef's specialty schnitzel with a creamy cheese sauce, fried onions and popcorn garnish(I know, sounds odd but the flavors were exceptional). Others had a creamy pumpkin ravioli, bratwurst in a red wine sauce and a pistachio crusted chicken breast salad. The presentation was beautiful and service (Valentine) exceptional. The surprise of the meal were the wines chosen to accompany the best of which were the white burgundy and Pinot Noir. All wines are produced by Weingut A Waigand just a few meters from the castle and whose vines grow in the hillside of the castle.

Fabulous experience! Valentine was our server and was truly outstanding, we had a group of 8, and every dish we ordered was amazing down to the desserts! Hyper-local wines to the region were a plus, and authentic German foods were perfectly cooked.

What can you say? Side salad is the first taste explosion in your mouth. The schnitzel with the croquettes is a culinary delight. The sideboard is perfect. I can only recommend everyone to eat something here. But it's best to ask beforehand whether you need to reserve in advance that day. We really enjoy coming back here.

We were completely satisfied with our food and the pricing is also fair. The restaurant was busy, but the service was still very attentive and you immediately feel at home. The ambience tends to be rustic, but well-kept and the overall impression is very clean and tidy. In my opinion, the “menu” means that you are selling your food at significantly less than its value, as it is just unbound, laminated sheets of paper lying around on the table.

Unfortunately, I have to revise my review when I visit the restaurant again. We had booked a table and arrived on time. There were 2 service staff on site. One of them said we could choose a place on the terrace. Since one of the terraces (view) had just become free and there were only two glasses left, but it was otherwise clean, we sat down there. Service worker 2 (a slightly older lady) then came to us completely beside herself and yelled at us if we could sit at another table because she would have to clean it first. I thought it would be enough for us if she just took the glasses with her and the table was clean, everything would be okay. She then left in an insulted manner and apparently told waitress 1 not to go to our table anymore because we were ignored for half an hour despite there being fewer guests. I thought it was a bad joke. This has never happened to us before and the castle terrace won't see us again. An absolute disgrace and unprofessional. 2 stars because the food there is actually great.

Today we ate the 3-course goose menu with a drink recommendation and all the bells and whistles and it was SO delicious - surprisingly delicious, highly recommended! The food came super quickly, almost a bit too quickly, but everything was on time. We've eaten there several times and this time it was really great!! (It was always delicious) One of the service staff could definitely be friendlier and show a genuine smile more often. 🙃 Unfortunately, the ambience there is a bit outdated, not at all modern and could definitely do with modernizing the interior design. Nevertheless, we'll come back - because it was just so good!!

I ordered a cooked cheese schnitzel. It was great. Real pork, juicy, tender, large portion, with fried onion straw (freshly made), bacon strips, great fries and a great side salad. I was very satisfied. Despite many guests, all the employees were very hospitable!

Update Sept. 24 The food continued to be very good, unfortunately we had bad luck twice now with the same waitress each time who was impossible in terms of service. The first time we ate there, the second time we got up and left because after the waitress begged her, she didn't come back for over 20 minutes to even be able to order drinks... Sometimes it seems to be the order of the day if you read other reviews...but we will spend our money in other restaurants in the future ------------------------------------------------------ Great food, something for everyone. Service was also very good and friendly. Furnishings are a bit older but somehow fit for a castle. Only the glass front needs some modernization, then it gets 5 stars ;-)

Unfortunately 1 star is already too much. The waitress was very dissatisfied and lying to you. [Lady with glasses, should work on her manners] I ordered a Zweschenknödel. After half an hour we asked where he was. My coffee was now lukewarm! It would be freshly made, so it would take that long came the answer. But he would come soon. 5 MINUTES LATER THE STATEMENT CAME, THERE ARE NO MORE!!! IMPOSSIBLE !

Very good, ambitious cuisine - a real surprise in Klingenberg! Plus good local wines and pleasantly friendly service. Absolutely recommended! There's also the magnificent view down to the Main and the vineyards on the steep slope!

We have been to this beautiful location several times and have always been satisfied. Except for dealing with a complaint - which wasn't even one - on our last visit. First of all, the positive things about the restaurant. The service was really friendly and quick. The view from the castle terrace is incomparable and beautiful. We were there in a group of 10 people and had reserved. Drinks and food were ordered and arrived very quickly. I would say that 10 out of 10 meals tasted good to very good - but in one out of 10, several long hairs somehow got into the food, or rather into the breading of the Wiener Schnitzel. I removed the first hair myself and tried to ignore it. All the others that appeared were the last straw. Viennese was about 60% eaten - side dishes were about 40%. The food stopped, the hunger suddenly disappeared. When the question came up while clearing up whether the leftovers should be packed up, the problem was addressed and an apology was made. Desserts were then ordered. When paying, the first question was whether everything was OK - usual polite phrase - when this was answered in the negative, dismay was shown and people apologized again. However, on the bill - which was paid with a tip - the problem meal was charged at almost €25. In return we were charged one schnapps less - basically given as compensation. We discussed this among ourselves afterwards - how the host and the waitress should or could have reacted. There was still an hour until payment - so there was little pressure. Simply leave "problem food" off the bill or issue a voucher with a request for another chance - these would have been good options. But for me, ignoring this quality problem was simply the worst solution. At the moment I'm not sure whether I would like to eat there again, despite the very good impressions mentioned at the beginning. If you see it differently, please feel free to comment. As an explanation - Actually there are nine meals with around 4 stars and one meal with 0 stars - but that was just what I meant.

Great terrace with shady trees. Very nice service and good, down-to-earth cuisine with that certain “extra”. Emphasis is placed on local products.

The three of us sat there. Drinks arrived quickly and that was about it. We waited 50 minutes for the food (the shop was relatively empty during that time) Wiener Schnitzel is quite good so far, the side dish of fried potatoes is a disaster. The staff was also a disaster - and, as mentioned above, the waiting time - a slightly older waitress was quite nice, but the girl with glasses was extremely rude to other guests next to us, who also received stupid comments from the waitress. Guests from another corner of the terrace continued to shout that this was a dirty shop while talking to the younger waitress. So only the view and the schnitzel are really worth mentioning, the rest was sad.

The view and the location of the restaurant in the castle walls alone is worth going there. A very nice restaurant. The staff was nice but quite inflexible, but the food was so good, tasty, attractively prepared. All in all, we'll be back.

Food very tasty, large portions, very nicely prepared. Service was very nice and quick, despite the terrace being full. And in general, the entire staff is super helpful, it was only thanks to their efforts that my grandma was able to enjoy the terrace. Thank you very much again for this. 💛

Our visit to the castle terrace at the Clingenburg in Klingenberg before the musical “Artus - Excalibur” performed by mainmusical e.V. was an unforgettable experience. From the breathtaking views to the excellent service to the exquisite food - everything was perfect. The location of the castle terrace is simply spectacular. Located high on the mountain, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape and the Main. The view is a real treat, especially at sunset, and provides the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. The personal commitment of the boss Alexander was particularly impressive, as he served us a fantastic snack platter after the show. This personal touch made our evening particularly unforgettable.

We went here for dinner for the first time yesterday. It's lovely to sit on the terrace and has a great view. The waitresses are very friendly. We were very positively surprised by the food. We had the Kochkässchnitzel. We found the portion to be very sufficient and there was also a nice salad. The price-performance ratio is right here. The menu is small, but there is something for everyone. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

We went there for dinner on a summer evening. The sun was shining very strongly, unfortunately not all umbrellas were open, so some people had to sit in the blazing sun. The cheapest chairs on the terrace and damaged tables do not match the prices quoted here for drinks and food. The food was good. The fried potatoes were very tasty. Unfortunately you can see throughout the restaurant that nothing is being invested.

Nice view of the Main. The veggie dumpling was an absolute blast. We decided to visit the restaurant again and order all of these great dumplings. The service was very friendly, but later a little overwhelmed, which resulted in an increased but acceptable waiting time for the service.

Stopped there during a hike. I haven't had such miserable food in decades. The sweet potato fries were completely soft, tasted like stale fat, and were just plain disgusting. The salad ordered with it consisted of leaves with brown edges, the carrot and beetroot spirals couldn't save the overall impression. The sprouts, which also didn't seem fresh, didn't save anything. The spoonful of house dressing was ok, but only enough for three leaves. Most of it was left alone, I'm still sick now, four hours later. No, we will never visit this restaurant again.

Basically a nice location with small defects or renovation backlog. Great view of the Main. Very friendly staff. Menu top, taste 2-3. Schnitzel breading floppy, greasy - deep fried? Can you do better? Baked hand cheese probably frozen product. The bottom line is an ambitious team with room for improvement.

Restaurant and café high above Klingenberg am Main! We were there for coffee and cake on the outside terrace. Nice and quick service, delicious cake and a fantastic view of the city and the Main. You can look at the old castle and take beautiful walks directly through the vineyards. A pleasant place to stay!

After a long time we were eating at clingenburg again. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. The food came to the table quite quickly, and extra requests such as a separate plate were fulfilled without any ifs or buts. What was unfortunately disappointing was that the portion was very small, similar to a children's plate or the portions of a 4/5 star restaurant (little for a lot of money). That was a real shame because the food was really, really good. The asparagus cream soup was also offered in a small cup (like a small capuccino cup). It's a real shame, it was good, but for the price you're simply asking for more to eat than what was offered. It just doesn't entice you to eat there again. It's more of a restaurant for the upper class, where the price doesn't matter. A pity.

We were there for lunch on Easter Sunday with 8 people. The food was of excellent quality and everything was beautifully prepared for Easter. The service worked perfectly. We were able to eat both our starters and later the main courses together. Thanks again to the chef and the very friendly, attentive and competent staff. We would like to come again.

The food and service are excellent. If the weather is nice and we can sit on the terrace then the ambience gets a full five points. The seating in the restaurant is a bit tight.

The food is unusual and delicious. I don't understand the portions. The cooked cheese schnitzel is incredibly large, while e.g. B. There were only a few noodles on the plate for the ravioli. The salad looks great but is inconvenient to eat. The waitresses aren't really friendly but they aren't unfriendly either. The view over the Main is of course stunning.
