Restaurant bei Ji in Velbert

I've been putting off writing this review for a long time, but today was definitely my last visit to Jii. Which is a real shame, because the food is truly delicious and the chef himself is incredibly friendly and personable. Hospitality and communication on an equal level don't seem to be among the waitress's competencies, and unfortunately, this hasn't changed one bit in recent years. After several visits, we've discovered that, depending on the lady's mood on the day, arrogant responses and ignorance are unfortunately something you have to accept if you don't want to make a fuss. Today we waited at least 15-20 minutes to ask for the bill, even though it really wasn't busy. Even groups of customers who had finished before us eventually went to the counter on their own to ask for the bill. When we finally got to the table, thanked her for the delicious food, but also pointed out that there was a rather long wait to pay, we received the rude reply that she had to take care of other guests and didn't understand how anyone couldn't understand that. ...If she had been busy with other guests and not just bustling around behind the counter, we might have... Inattentive, uncomprehending, but from her perspective, apparently free of any mistakes. For me, this is definitely a reason to go somewhere else in the future. Such a shame...

Every visit to this restaurant is a bit like 'coming home.' The welcome is always very friendly, and everyone's individual requests are met whenever possible. The food (from appetizer to main course to dessert) is always fresh, and to date—and I've been a frequent guest for several years—there has never been cause for complaint. Sitting on the terrace in summer gives you a real vacation feeling, and the sunsets are often spectacular. The ambiance inside is also pleasant and worth every visit. All in all: an absolute recommendation!

Review of "Bei Ji" in Velbert (visit on July 10, 2025) A disaster in several courses – never again. What awaited us at "Bei Ji" in Velbert on the occasion of a birthday party for 25 people (Ahmet Kaya, 52) on July 10, 2025, can only be described as a culinary and human disaster. The food? Cold. Disgusting. Cheaply cobbled together, obviously not fresh, probably taken straight from the freezer to the microwave. Even the "ice cream" came with ice cubes – a clumsy attempt to conceal the lack of quality. The result: several guests with diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. The highlight? All of this cost us €400 – for garbage on plates. The service? Rude, uncomprehending, and arrogant. Friendly warnings were met with no apology, but pure arrogance. One of the waitresses in particular (Claudii) – loud, opinionated, and not at all service-oriented – thought she was the boss. Criticism? Was silenced. Friendliness? None. The actual boss? On vacation. Instead, the waitresses acted as if they owned the place – including using derogatory language towards paying guests. Hospitality? A mockery. It was as if €400 had been spent on actively purchasing humiliation and spoiled food. The evening, planned as a happy birthday celebration, turned into a complete disappointment – both culinary and human. 25 guests left the place disgusted and stunned. Conclusion: Anyone who enters "Bei Ji" in Velbert should ask themselves: Do I have too much money, too few expectations – and am I willing to be treated disrespectfully? If so, go ahead. For everyone else: Avoid this place. You pay a lot here – and get nothing but frustration, nausea, and a ruined party. 0 out of 5 stars. 400€ for NOTHING!

An incredibly comfortable atmosphere. The team interacts with each other and with the guests in a family-like manner. In my opinion, they really take care of your physical well-being. There's also a second location where you can host larger parties. It's on Wordenbecker Weg, across from the Futterhaus. What I also think is absolutely fantastic is that the chef personally goes from table to table and chats with the guests, asking them whether they have any positive or negative comments. The only drawback is that it's difficult to get to the restroom if you're in a wider wheelchair, due to the door and the limited space. I've always found the restrooms to be clean. There's also a great outdoor area with large parasols so you can sit outside. Visit the restaurant; it's great there, and the price-performance ratio is also good. Best, Alexandra (Lexy)

We'd love to come back. We just had a relaxed meal there with our two kids. Delicious pizza and lasagna were really great. Fair prices, very friendly service. Very child-friendly too! Thank you very much!

We wanted to eat something and went to Rehmann's restaurant. A few tables were still free, but a very snotty waitress asked us to wait a bit, a table for two would be free soon. I approached one of the free tables and asked if we could sit here. The waitress was almost bursting with arrogance and said, "NO, this is a table for four." We were standing in the middle of the restaurant, with other guests eating. I found it very unpleasant to stand there and wait until a table for two became available... So you're not allowed to sit wherever you want; the restaurant apparently doesn't need paying guests. There were easily 3-4 tables free... We then went to another restaurant, where we were politely greeted and given the choice of where we wanted to sit. The restaurant didn't see us again. Instead of seating guests at a free table, they prefer to let them leave, that's how they gain customers...

Today I finally decided to stop there. I had no expectations, but I'm thrilled. The atmosphere is perfect; you wouldn't know it's located in the Rehmann furniture store. The prices are reasonable, but you get really large portions and lots of extras. I ordered a chicken skewer with fries. I got chicken, grilled zucchini, lots of fries, and salad. Truly satisfying. Delicious non-alcoholic cocktails are available for €6.

Grill plate special is really special. Small coated schnitzel, cutlet, dry chicken breast and a kind of dark liver cheese-like meat. The garlic cream and onions don't go well with this. Salad with an indefinable dressing. Everything is not worth almost €22.00. Ambience is lost because take away

We didn't expect that! At some point on a business trip we got hungry. Since we couldn't find an open restaurant around 3 p.m., we headed for the furniture store, as there are usually canteens there. So we ended up with Ji. The very friendly service quickly brought us drinks and the fresh warm rolls with herb butter we ordered. When it came to the rolls, it was clear that someone here wanted to make dough. The tomato soup, the fried mushrooms, lasagna and the schnitzel with homemade mushroom cream sauce were also convincing and clearly exceeded expectations. We were happy to pay the €80.80 for food and numerous drinks and coffee. Keep it up!!!!

Hello, my wife was at Ji's today and was totally disappointed. She ordered chicken breast fillet and...... She couldn't eat it, the meat was glassy and like biting into wax. The chef came and didn't allow any complaints, very unfriendly and not open to any criticism. Since my wife works in the kitchen, cooks very well and knows meat, she wasn't offered anything else and had to pay the full price. Although she stopped eating the meat and only ate the potatoes and salad because she is diabetic and needed to eat something. Been there last time and can't be recommended.

Rip-off to the power of 10! We celebrated our 10th grade farewell dinner yesterday. I can't stop shaking my head! When we arrived, our kids first had to move the terrace tables into the restaurant because there wasn't enough space. Although the number of people was given beforehand. A group of kids had to sit outside in 18 degrees and rain!! Drinks service completely overwhelmed. The buffet we ordered at €20 per person was limp pizza. Nothing else. The kids were then allowed to take these from a cake plate if there was any! Unfortunately we paid €60 in advance for nothing. For nothing at all. When asked the boss about it, he showed neither interest nor understanding. Absolutely crazy! I would love to give you minus stars.

Reserving a room for 20 people with 40 people is really poorly thought out. When we asked the owner, he told us that he had expected to be able to sit outside - even though it had rained almost exclusively for the last three weeks. We were all crammed together inside and had hardly any space. Some even had to sit outside in 18 degrees and rain. We were promised a “buffet” for €20 per person, but in the end there were only 14-15 pizzas for 40 people. Yes, pizzas were constantly being delivered, but that in no way justified the price and there was definitely not enough for everyone. 40 people times 20 € equals 800 € just for the food. Only for 20 pizzas. €800 for such a poor “buffet” is really outrageous. Any decent Italian restaurant would feed at least 60 people for €800.

I celebrated my birthday at Ji's with 35 people. I invited you to brunch. Even though Sunday is a day off, I was still able to celebrate my birthday there. We had a large selection of delicious things. Everything was very nicely prepared. It was a beautiful day. My guests really liked it too. Always my pleasure.

Really had to smile, food was ok, good. A little more seasoning and the pizza baked through would be worth dreaming about. Otherwise salad perfect. Schnitzel and potatoes too.

We really liked the restaurant. As a starter we had fresh, crispy pizza rolls from the oven and delicious bruschetta. For the main course we decided on 2 pasta dishes and a fresh wild herb salad. Of course there was dessert, which was also very tasty. In general we were very pleased with the food and the service. So it was a great family evening.

Sehr gutes Restaurant. Wir gehen sehr oft dort essen, die Pizza, bruschetta, pasta und vor allem das hähnchengeschnetzelte mit Reis ist sehr gut! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und das Restaurant sauber und gemütlich. Ich kann es nur jedem empfehlen. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne wieder!

Das Bruschetta und die Pasta war super lecker. Der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Spielecke im Möbelhaus nebenan prima um die Wartezeit zu verkürzen. Der Preis ist völlig in Ordnung.

Sehr lecker zubereitete Speisen. Gute Auswahl. Zum netten Essen gehen kann man das kleine Restaurant empfehlen. Lediglich die Dessert-Auswahl ist sehr übersichtlich.

Sehr gutes Essen. In ihrer Mobilität stark eingeschränkte Gäste werden vom Inhaber sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend unterstützt. Direktzugang vom/zum Möbelhaus Rehmann. Mittagessen als auch Abendessen dort eingenommen. Meine persönliche Empfehlungen: Gnocchi Mediterran. Die verschiedenen Schorlen (mein Favorit Himbeerschorle) sind sehr erfrischend und attraktiv präsentiert.

Ich kenn den Besitzer über 20 Jahre wie gehen da öfter Essen . Sehr freundlich immer sehr lecker und immer frische Sachen . Für Leute die ein Geburtstag, Taufe oder Komonion feiern möchten hat er separat noch ein sehr großen Raum den man mieten kann. Preise sind voll in Ordnung . Nur zum empfehlen

Tolles Essen, der Bedienung könnte wesentlich freundlicher sind. Die Ambiente fragwürdig und ist verschuldet durch die Ortschaft "Rehmann". Aber wer das nicht stört, kann ich das Restaurant empfehlen.
