You should definitely check the menu beforehand. Main courses cost at least €20, and the classic souvlaki was €25. Other dishes cost only slightly more or less. For this rather steep price, you get a portion that's an okay size, but the quality screams convenience food. It starts with the souvlaki, which has shockingly uniform and symmetrical grill marks, and continues seamlessly with the Metaxa sauce and mushrooms from a jar or can.

I've been to many Greek restaurants, but none of them can compare to yours!! These days, I personally prefer to pay more and get something in return.

Once upon a time... There was a Greek restaurant where you could still pay a reasonable price; the prices are completely exorbitant. The quality of the food has declined; we will no longer be regular customers.

Those who enjoy Greek cuisine will find something to their liking here. However, it's in the higher price range. One really has to consider whether one can still justify this. The classic tzatziki wasn't truly creamy with yogurt, and it lacked cucumber and came with very little bread. It seems the restaurant is cutting corners. Even a complimentary ouzo is no longer offered. A shame. This is another way to lose customers.

We visited the restaurant spontaneously (without a reservation) and were absolutely delighted. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the service was excellent. My husband is usually hesitant to order lamb because he's often been disappointed. This time he tried it and was completely satisfied. My chicken breast was also incredibly tender. We'll definitely be back. We highly recommend it.

We went out for Greek food again. Well, what can I say? The food was good as always, but I was a bit shocked by the prices. My daughter ordered fries (€5.50) – we thought it would be a large portion... But what arrived? A tiny bowl of fries, barely enough for a side salad. My husband had gyros with fries, and my mother had the minced steak with feta. Even in their case, the side salad was bigger than the portion of fries. I couldn't find a single dish on the menu for under €23. We weren't offered the typical ouzo before or after our meal either. I mean, everyone should be able to make a living, but it could be done differently. Maybe they should reconsider their pricing. 🤔 With prices like that, I was already wondering where all the money went when I went to the restroom, because the sockets and switches were glued to the wall with silicone, and everything else seemed very amateurish and makeshift. The wallpaper was even peeling off the ceiling in the dining area. All in all, I was quite disappointed.

The team is very nice and friendly, please keep up the good work ☺️. It's worth driving 100km for such excellent calamari ☺️ We discovered the restaurant by chance and will definitely come back whenever we're in the area. The calamari is absolutely divine – buttery soft and juicy, just as it should be. A big thumbs up 👍🏼 We also recommend the Niko plate, which consists of gyros, calamari, and tender liver.

Very good Greek food; the portion sizes are definitely generous. Very friendly and fast service. The decor is nice, only the restrooms look a bit neglected.

The portions are large, a bit too large for my taste. The price might be justified by the size of the portions. However, I had expected more from the fish platter special. Everything was coated in the same intense seasoning, making it nearly impossible to distinguish the individual flavors of hake, shrimp, calamari, and pollock. The appetizers were good. The two desserts, galaktoboureko and baklava with ice cream, were delicious. But again, the portions were far too large. The friendly staff promptly brought us several small spoons and cake forks. Overall, the service was very quick. The ambiance is pleasant, and I appreciated being able to sit somewhat separately as a group, allowing us to converse comfortably. As is customary in most Greek restaurants, we were offered a complimentary shot of schnapps or liqueur upon departure. Unfortunately, even upon request, there was no option for a non-alcoholic version.

I have to say, unfortunately: simply awful. A completely limp salad with a single slice of cucumber and a tasteless piece of tomato as a mixed salad, dry gyros, souvlaki and rice not properly piping hot, the staff demonstratively unenthusiastic – in short, never again.

This has little to do with Greek food. Our "country platter" for €25.90 was completely lukewarm, overcooked, and certainly not freshly grilled. The Greek rice was also lukewarm, the baguette was tough, and the side salad was tiny and uninspired. At least I was able to say goodnight after an ouzo.

We were there for dinner today. It was delicious and the portions were really generous. I had the minced meat in Metaxas sauce, which was very spicy and delicious. It came with fries that weren't overdone and were really hot and crispy. My cocktail (non-alcoholic) was also very good. But the baklava was really, really delicious. You could taste everything: nuts, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, honey, and lemon. One of the best I've ever had. The star deduction is for them; for me, the background music is too loud. But that's complaining at a high level.

We've been coming here on vacation several times and always eat the delicious calamari...! They've just gone up by €5.50 in the last six months, and we even got a free ouzo...!!! A 25% price increase is definitely too much! We've always recommended this place, but I can't do it anymore this time...!

Non-alcoholic drinks are more expensive again! Juice spritzer now costs €4.50 (0.3 liters) instead of €4 (0.4 liters). Should we drink beer instead? This isn't customer-friendly. Non-alcoholic guests have to dig deeper into their wallets. It's no longer affordable for families. New menu with several price increases.

The tuna salad has gone up by €9 in price in 1.5 years. The same goes for various other dishes. Is that a joke? Are you trying to scare away the locals for good? Do you only care about spa guests who don't care about the price because they're on vacation? That's a disgrace. We used to be regulars. And it's also anti-family. How can you afford it with children? They've changed the price of non-alcoholic drinks from 0.4l to 0.33l bottles and simultaneously increased the price from €3.80 to €4.50! Your other Greek restaurant in Scheßlitz has already closed. In Staffelstein, they live off tourism, and the rest of the locals don't matter at all. Enclosed is the new menu, which the restaurant itself published on Facebook on October 16, 2025.

Today we picked up a portion of baklava, but we were clearly informed that we weren't allowed to take the ice cream with us. Why not? After all, we paid €8.50 for the small amount... our child was extremely upset about it... As for the baklava: the worst recipe ever: crumbled butter cookies under the nut mixture and slightly larger pieces as decoration, oat flakes and unidentifiable crumbs as sprinkles, and a red syrup with cloves, plus oil flavor instead of butter. What kind of recipe is that??? After trying it, the strange thing ended up in the hotel trash. Never again and not recommended.

We recently ate at this Greek restaurant and were thoroughly satisfied. For starters, we had garlic bread, which was wonderfully crispy and flavorful. After that, we had gyro with fries and baked gyro with Metaxa sauce. Everything tasted very fresh and truly delicious. We were particularly pleased that the fries were also nice and crispy – unfortunately, that's not a given everywhere. We also loved the ambiance. The bar area, in particular, where we sat in a small alcove, was very cozy and tastefully decorated – ideal for eating and chatting in a relaxed atmosphere. The prices are a bit high, but absolutely reasonable for the quality of the food and the pleasant setting. If you appreciate good Greek food and a sophisticated atmosphere, this is definitely the place for you. We'll be back!

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was a huge disappointment. The quality of the food left much to be desired, and the service showed no consideration for families with children. Poor food quality: The prices are disproportionate to the value offered. For example, €19 for a ready-made schnitzel (obviously frozen) with fries is absolutely overpriced and unacceptable. Other dishes were also disappointing: - The Metaxa dish was completely overseasoned. If you like that kind of thing, I don't. - The breaded mushroom caps were also frozen and didn't taste fresh. The tzatziki was the only acceptable item on the plate. It's annoying when a restaurant hardly uses fresh produce and you have to pay for reheated frozen food. No consideration for children: The restaurant is in no way geared toward families. There were no children's meals, nor were there any other small gifts or options for children, such as a "children's schnapps" (e.g., a juice) at the end. Only the obligatory ouzo was offered for the adults. ​Conclusion: ​We cannot recommend this restaurant due to the poor quality of the food (mainly frozen food at high prices) and its lack of family friendliness. There is urgent need for improvement here.

The location is very good. To sum it up, the tzatziki was the best of the entire meal. The fried mushrooms were frozen, as were the schnitzels. Almost €20 for a frozen schnitzel with frozen fries. The baked gyro was soft-boiled. If you like spicy food, this is the place for you. All in all, there's plenty of room for improvement.

I've rarely eaten so well. The staff is very friendly, the portions are large, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. As I said, I've rarely eaten such good Greek food, except perhaps in Greece. Definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately, the rice isn't suitable for children. Charging €4.50 for a 0.33l non-alcoholic drink (Mezzo Mix, Coke, etc.) is pretty expensive, in my opinion.

We were lucky and got a place without a reservation. The restaurant was very busy. The service was nice and accommodating. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The portions are large and very tasty 😋. There is a terrace in front of the house, a beer garden behind the house and there are plenty of tables inside too. We will definitely come back.

Very disappointing after many years as a regular guest I was a loyal regular at the Athene restaurant for many years, weekly with my family, regularly with a monthly turnover of between €450 and €600. Our children practically grew up in this restaurant. We appreciated the restaurant and often recommended it to others. But after our last visit, that's finally over. We ordered two children's portions of chicken schnitzel for our children. When we were asked if we would like the salad with it, we said no, our children don't eat it. For the half portion without salad, just €2 deduction per dish. Given that the price for a portion of schnitzel is now completely overpriced, this is a very weak concession, not to say a little cheeky. I myself ordered the Rita plate, but without gyros because I don't like it. I politely asked if one could have a piece of calamari instead. The answer: Of course, we're happy to do it. Three pieces were served, but they were then charged as three extra calamari at €4.50 each, i.e. €13.50 for a supposed gesture of accommodation. For comparison: In other Greek restaurants you can get a complete calamari main course with salad and side dish for the same price. The tomato rice was also unusually spicy this time, so spicy that our children couldn't eat it. Our polite response only received a succinct: “He’s always like that.” As a regular guest with countless visits, I can only say: NO, he's not. The low point, however, came with the bill: I spoke to the owner in a friendly manner about the pieces of calamari he had charged. His answer? “Yes, what can I say, calamari is much more expensive than gyros, we always do it that way.” Then without a word he took the bill, crumpled it up, ostentatiously threw it in the trash and left. No conversation. No interest. No respect. I am a restaurateur myself, run a restaurant at a busy campsite and have warmly recommended the Athene restaurant to camping guests for years. This recommendation is now invalid. Not only because of the now completely exorbitant prices (a 0.33l drink for €4.50!), but above all because of the way it deals with justified criticism. I will no longer visit this restaurant and will not recommend it to anyone else. It's a shame when you consider how much trust and loyalty we have brought with us over the years.

Fantastic Greek restaurant in Bad Staffelstein near the train station. Uncomplicated afternoon reserved for the same evening. The visit was really very nice from the moment we arrived until we paid the bill. The service is really great. Fast, very friendly and accommodating. It only takes a few moments until you get your drinks and empty plates are cleared away. As soon as a table becomes available, it is immediately cleaned and freshly set. The food is fantastic. Very tasty, fresh and the portions are very large. Even if it seems a bit expensive, I personally think this is absolutely justified when you see what you get for your money at every level. We would come back and eat here again at any time. But you should make a reservation as it gets very busy early on.

The dishes we ordered were plentiful, beautifully prepared and tasted very good. Especially when it comes to taste, Athene stands out from other Greek restaurants. Conclusion: A successful evening with good food in a pleasant atmosphere. We will be happy to come back. The price is a little above average, but it's definitely justified. A seat reservation is recommended.

Best Greek restaurant I've dined at in years.

It was our first time eating there. The starter salad was more of a plate with leaves, pepper and vinegar. The food was very good so far. The staff was also quite friendly (except for one who cared more about the cell phone than the customers). When we finished there was some food left over. When asked if you could add a small spoonful of tzatziki, they said, “No problem.” I assumed she would just go for it a bit. That's what she did, the portion was so measly that even a housefly wouldn't have been able to get enough. The best is yet to come: She then asked for €4 on the bill. It said: “Portion of tzatziki approx. 80 g”. Weighed at home: a total of 37.3 g. Sorry, that's beyond rude!
