We were lucky and got a place without a reservation. The restaurant was very busy. The service was nice and accommodating. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The portions are large and very tasty 😋. There is a terrace in front of the house, a beer garden behind the house and there are plenty of tables inside too. We will definitely come back.

Very disappointing after many years as a regular guest I was a loyal regular at the Athene restaurant for many years, weekly with my family, regularly with a monthly turnover of between €450 and €600. Our children practically grew up in this restaurant. We appreciated the restaurant and often recommended it to others. But after our last visit, that's finally over. We ordered two children's portions of chicken schnitzel for our children. When we were asked if we would like the salad with it, we said no, our children don't eat it. For the half portion without salad, just €2 deduction per dish. Given that the price for a portion of schnitzel is now completely overpriced, this is a very weak concession, not to say a little cheeky. I myself ordered the Rita plate, but without gyros because I don't like it. I politely asked if one could have a piece of calamari instead. The answer: Of course, we're happy to do it. Three pieces were served, but they were then charged as three extra calamari at €4.50 each, i.e. €13.50 for a supposed gesture of accommodation. For comparison: In other Greek restaurants you can get a complete calamari main course with salad and side dish for the same price. The tomato rice was also unusually spicy this time, so spicy that our children couldn't eat it. Our polite response only received a succinct: “He’s always like that.” As a regular guest with countless visits, I can only say: NO, he's not. The low point, however, came with the bill: I spoke to the owner in a friendly manner about the pieces of calamari he had charged. His answer? “Yes, what can I say, calamari is much more expensive than gyros, we always do it that way.” Then without a word he took the bill, crumpled it up, ostentatiously threw it in the trash and left. No conversation. No interest. No respect. I am a restaurateur myself, run a restaurant at a busy campsite and have warmly recommended the Athene restaurant to camping guests for years. This recommendation is now invalid. Not only because of the now completely exorbitant prices (a 0.33l drink for €4.50!), but above all because of the way it deals with justified criticism. I will no longer visit this restaurant and will not recommend it to anyone else. It's a shame when you consider how much trust and loyalty we have brought with us over the years.

Unfortunately we weren't served after 20 minutes on the terrace! In the meantime, guests who came after us had their food inside! We changed the restaurant. I have to give it one star even though it isn't deserved.

Arrived 5 minutes before closing time and still got fresh bread and delicious tzatziki for an absolutely fair price!

Fantastic Greek restaurant in Bad Staffelstein near the train station. Uncomplicated afternoon reserved for the same evening. The visit was really very nice from the moment we arrived until we paid the bill. The service is really great. Fast, very friendly and accommodating. It only takes a few moments until you get your drinks and empty plates are cleared away. As soon as a table becomes available, it is immediately cleaned and freshly set. The food is fantastic. Very tasty, fresh and the portions are very large. Even if it seems a bit expensive, I personally think this is absolutely justified when you see what you get for your money at every level. We would come back and eat here again at any time. But you should make a reservation as it gets very busy early on.

Non-alcoholic drinks are more expensive again! Juice spritzer now 0.3 liters for €4.50 instead of 0.4 liters for €4, should we drink beer instead? This is not customer-friendly, guests who don't drink alcohol have to dig deeper into their wallets. It's no longer affordable for families.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted very friendly and shown to our seat. When we arrived, we were able to order drinks and food after a short wait. The service staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Without exaggeration, it was really a pleasure as a guest to be able to experience something like that. The dishes we ordered were plentiful, beautifully prepared and tasted very good. Especially when it comes to taste, Athene stands out from other Greek restaurants. Conclusion: A successful evening with good food in a pleasant atmosphere. We will be happy to come back. The price is a little above average, but it's definitely justified. A seat reservation is recommended.

Best Greek restaurant I've dined at in years.

It was our first time eating there. The starter salad was more of a plate with leaves, pepper and vinegar. The food was very good so far. The staff was also quite friendly (except for one who cared more about the cell phone than the customers). When we finished there was some food left over. When asked if you could add a small spoonful of tzatziki, they said, “No problem.” I assumed she would just go for it a bit. That's what she did, the portion was so measly that even a housefly wouldn't have been able to get enough. The best is yet to come: She then asked for €4 on the bill. It said: “Portion of tzatziki approx. 80 g”. Weighed at home: a total of 37.3 g. Sorry, that's beyond rude!

Very poor price performance for the gyros with pita bread. About 300g of meat, some rice and a few slices of bread When I received my order, I just thought to myself.. “€20 for that?” Service was ok, but very keen to sell more, which seemed too pushy in my opinion! The quality of the meat was only OK with a medium fat content. Unfortunately, immediately after eating we were informed that 10 a.m. is before 10 p.m. and that we should finish our drinks on time. Not exactly hospitable. But of course I understand when the waitresses want to go home after a long day at work. My conclusion: Very expensive in comparison, mediocre quality, but OK when everything else is closed.

We always enjoy coming to this restaurant. Family business, very nice and courteous service, incredibly delicious food. We tried our way through the menu and have never had a bad meal. Only the ambience inside only gets 4 stars, something could be updated here.

Bewertung für 4,5 Punkte Gutes überschauliches griechisches Essen von dem man satt wurd, aber sehr sparsam beim Ouzo. Beim Salat Dressing würde ich mir etwas weniger Schärfe und mehr griechische Gewürze wünschen. Angenehme Atmosphäre wenn da nicht die Musik wäre die mich eher an die 70iger Jahre Musik mit Katarina Valente erinnerte. Nettes und freundliches Personal.

Atmosphäre sehr gut, Bedienung sehr auf Zack und sehr freundlich. Vorspeise warme Peperoni waren leider zu salzig und viel zu viel Knoblauch. Gyros mit Calamari war der Hammer, noch nie so ein gutes Gyros gegessen. Danke😀

The Athene restaurant in Bad Staffelstein is an absolute highlight for all gourmets. The cuisine is simply incredible and the selection of dishes is huge. I have tried many different dishes here and have been impressed every time. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I can highly recommend the Athene restaurant to everyone!

We have been guests of this restaurant for many years, but yesterday we almost fell off our chairs...the prices have been raised again...now between €4 and €6 per dish...drinks too ...if we hadn't arranged to have a farewell dinner there, we would have left again... there's no justification for that, it's just a rip-off... when we asked about the conditions, she said that's what she did I wouldn't have heard from anyone yet and everything is fully booked for the weekend.... but we've read completely different things here.....it's a great shame, we'll miss the food....it's a shame that you alienate your regular guests so much and then they lie to you and is not taken seriously...

Water served in a glass (no clean bottle) nearly same price as a beer. Really? Dinner size was not Greek style as they are mostly hospitable people. So, serves were small, good for little appetite. End of dinner aperitif never happened albeit I saw others receive it. The Eftpos machine seems to not work so they want cash only! We’re here for a week, not coming back.

Well-attended location with a large outdoor area, friendly and fast service. Ordered: grilled chicken breast fillet with Metaxa sauce - handmade fries, fillet fried to perfection, the Metaxa sauce....I love Metaxa sauces.....unfortunately a bland disappointment. In my case 3 out of 5 stars and that's good.

A completely new experience, I summarize: - Food is expensive, overall more expensive than comparable Greek restaurants - The waitress was attentive, first wanted to give us the worst available table in the blazing sun, insisted on a place in the shade, then suddenly it happened - Order taken, so far so good - The drinks came, white wine nice and cold, unfortunately no bottle of water (at least €8.90 for water), whereupon we asked for some ice and got it - Unfortunately the food we had ordered didn't come (suflaki instead of gyros). We were given the feeling that it was our mistake and whether we didn't want to take it, no, we didn't, swapped suflaki for gyros - didn't get everything done, asked for a doggy bag, no problem - Brought the bill and now it comes: we were actually charged €1 for the ice cubes. When we asked, the service person got a bit snippy and said that it was an additional service and justified... I was amazed...I traveled a lot on our planet but first had to go to the Athene in Bad Staffelstein to gain this experience. Conclusion: obviously they are more interested in the walk-in customers of the spa guests, less in the local public or regular guests, I can't explain it any other way, well...unfortunately we won't be visiting this restaurant anymore, the whole thing has a lot of taste, especially because of the prices can already be clearly heard in a cross-comparison.

Spontan am Freitagmittag einen Tisch für Abends für 10 Personen gebucht. Wir durften uns aussuchen, wo wir sitzen möchten. Das Restaurant ist sehr groß, trotzdem hat man seine Privatsphäre beim Essen. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Speisen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt klar auf griechischen Essen, vegetarisch gibt es auch. Wir hatten diverse Sonderwünsche bei den Speisen und auch das war kein Problem. Wir fanden die Preise im Rahmen, es ist nun mal teurer geworden. Die Portionen waren riesig und das Essen wirklich lecker. Wir haben einen sehr schönen Abend im Rahmen unseres Urlaubscdort verbracht.

Unfortunately the taste has deteriorated. Finally a Greek who can cook too! Everything prepared perfectly, nothing dry or overcooked. We didn't have anything on our plate that we didn't like! The restaurant offers plenty of seats and is very comfortable. Not as squashed as some others. The service staff was always present and always asked if everything was okay. The only thing that bothered me was that it was being cleared away while we were still eating.
